Friendly staff, the screen is a small but I understand since this is a indie theater. Still love it.

Todd Bellamy

Great indy theatre!

Douglas Lannom

I love small independent theaters like this. Good price and better food and drinks than a megaplex.

Precilla Ashley

Our experience was excellent! We'll definitely be going back, again and again it was that good. Very affordable, beer and wine, comfortable seats, great atmosphere, delicious popcorn, just am overall great place and time!

Eugene Cho

Small and intimate setting

Dan Pike

I love places that give communities a sense of, well, place. The Grand Cinema fits the bill in downtown Tacoma. It shows an eclectic assortment of foreign, independent and local films, with a sprinkling of thoughtful commercial films shown, too. It also serves as a gathering place for community conversations, and offers popcorn with real butter and an assortment of drinks and snacks at reasonable prices. A local gem.

Christopher

Great movies, popcorn, and beverages! Pro-tip: they even let you bring in food from Corina's Bakery next door! Volunteers are great. Parking could be better.

Richter The Rat

Great theatre. Small but thats what makes it nice. Plays lots of indie films. Free parking offered next door for theatre guests.

Jimmer ne

Times make it hard to see multiple movies.

Julia Priest

When you think of small, older "niche" theaters, you often think of grumpy customer service, sticky floors and that gross water damaged smell. NOT HERE. This place is friendly, well kept, and in good repair. THE go to place for smaller movies.

Matthew Stiles

Older theater but nice. I enjoyed the staff and the family type atmosphere.

Phil Freeman

The grand is just what you wanted in the old style theater. They always run great movies if you are into great movies. Their popcorn is the best and it's fun to support viewer supported theater. The ground is volunteer-run and they do a great job. It's not like a mall theater. It's more like yesteryear and it's fun.

Franceane Melfort

I love the old authenticnes of the area.

Vicky Semones

Thank you for hosting the special showing "Dammed to Extinction" which tells the devastating saga of dessimation of Habitat, Salmon and Orca in WA. The film makes the case for immediate removal of the costly structures, which are no longer necessary for energy or commerce. The Grande Theatre is a Tacoma treasure!

K4 TV

I wasn't expecting a small theater but I loved with the place. It's a small Urbanized place with great customer service

Green Deathray

An amazing non-profit independent theater in Tacoma. The Grand regularly plays independent and foreign films for diverse audiences. Last night I saw an animated film about Khmer Rouge in Cambodia, followed by a panel discussion with survivors of the genocide. It was a meaningful event to the Cambodian community of Tacoma, and educational for guests of all backgrounds. Thank you for hosting this film and discussion.

Holly B

I got to watch a movie alone in the theater because I was the only one who bought a ticket for it that night. How cool a private viewing! Any other theater would have said it's not full enough and not show it. But they told me to enjoy! This place is also amazing because they show films you won't see anywhere else! Wonderful foreign films and indie films!

Spencer Hawkins

First time visitors last night. What a wonderful little spot! All the folks working were really friendly, and the theater is really cute. It's small, but well taken care of. (And such a great curation of films!) We can't wait to become members and come back.

Carol Mann

What can I say, except it's an iconic place to watch movies.

Thomas Kurtz

It's friendly and shows THE best movies. AND they have THE BEST popcorn anywhere.!!

Michele Spencer

Fun downtown theater, fresh hot popcorn and a lot of fun!

Maryann Gaciru

I took my 3yr old for the free family flick held on one Saturday a month and we both had a blast! This cinema is a gem; clean, nicely decorated, with an old school vibe to it which I loved! On top of that the movie was free!! I'm really glad I discovered this place because I intend to come back here plenty more times. Thanks Grand Cinema for an awesome experience

Jacob Robbins

One of my favorite movie theaters, I've been going here for over ten years and I'm always happy to go see a movie here. Also has the best popcorn in the region.

Chris Allen

Great throw back theater. All staff are volunteers. Show more theatrics movies than i normally see and seating is limited (five small theaters) but the popcorn (using real melted butter) and the overall ambiance is a classic feel. There is a Saturday night promo group -?something elephant?? That shows throwback/cult classics etc which is great entertainment. I myself caught the original Die Hard right around Xmas time and had a blast.

James Thompson

Nostalgic place to watch movies that don't make it to the big screen but are good to watch.

Kevin Kelley

Great neighborhood movie theater, the popcorn was tasty! Friendly and clean!

Jennie Frick

This is a wonderful surprising location and theater. Fun classic movies with wonderful staff and guests. A must visit for all... and weird elephant movies (late) are a must for adults! Fun trivia and prizes to be had as well... recomend Die Hard at Christmas!

E Baker

One of my favorite spots in the city. Great atmosphere and entertainment. Local small business. Very cool little spot.

Heidi Falck

Best art-house theater around! Terrific selection of indie films and documentaries. Small intimate theaters with great rotation of films. If you love movies I highly recommend their membership plan: $5 tickets on Mondays, free small popcorn at every show (or discount on larger sizes) and discounted tickets every day plus special events. Beer and wine available Fri-Sun!

David Corbett

Comfortable crunchy granola theater in which to see slightly offbeat films.

Lonnie & Dawn Brown

The movie was great. The atmosphere was awesome. love it.

Joel Larson

Best art house/indi theater around!

Randy Baeth

Cool movies are the best popcorn in Tacoma

Savonne Castro-Johnson

It's a cute small quiet little theater that I didnt even know existed. The seats arent the best but the popcorn is decent, screen quality is good too and they play movies you wouldn't see at other theaters. I had a good experience and would definitely come back again to support a smaller business. It's a hidden gem in downtown Tacoma.

Cypress Lyonstone

How can you not love an old theater. Love that they play movies with real substance and stories. Tacoma treasure for sure!

Debbie Tarnecki

If you love foreign films, the best popcorn ever like the kind Grandma used to make on the stove with real butter, and a tasty wine to compliment it all then you're in for a treat. I think it's a great place for date night.

Phil Clum

It's quaint, run by volunteers and has great movies.

AlisaBeth Nash

This is a beautiful OLD theater. Lots of history. Be warned that there is not much parking. I'm part of WOW (Weekend of Wizardry) and we were setting up decorations for the Harry Potter movie marathon tomorrow and Sunday. It's a really cute space. Check listings to see what's playing. I'm sure you'll find something wonderful.

Lisa Pedersen

Love this gem. Just love it!

April Gilbert

I love this theater. It's small and intimate and plays some of those hard to find movies. It's run by with a lot of volunteers and prices are reasonable. I would highly recommend this theater to anyone.

Jennifer Stippich

What a wonderful building and to catch the last night of the Tacoma Fill Festival was icing on the cake.

Kay Johnson

The movie and the employees was great. Thank you very much.

Ali L

Grand Cinema is the best!!! GREAT movies, kind volunteers, tasty treats...Tacoma would be distinctly less interesting or awesome without it!

Alex Zhu

It's a cute, nice, and independent theatre!

Susan Petersen

We love the Grand. Can see movies that are not playing elsewhere.

Keith Beesley

We are members and see something here about every two weeks. Love this place. Recently we started attending the Sat. night Weird Elephant series--lots of fun!

Jeanne Juneau

An art house Cinema with a great selection of films. I wish the seats were more comfortable, but that takes more fundraising. Happy to support this local, nonprofit organization.

Rebecca S

Best movie venue in town and best popcorn. Low key, clean.

Amy Cook

My first visit to the Grand was great! It’s old school but cool. The popcorn was hot and fresh. I love the fact that they have beer and wine available. The movies are more artistic, interesting than the more mainstream pictures at the malls. Became a member: $5 movies on Mondays, free small popcorn, $2.50 off each movie for a year all for $45.

Laura Nyhuis

Good selection of films. Great staff and volunteers. A Tacoma gem.

Merrillee

Love this "home town" feel cinema. Great popcorn too!

gerald green

Linda Isenson

Great movies, friendly volunteer staffers.

Alexander McLean

Nice and quiet. A good place for you and your mate. Not expensive and off in the cut

Melbourne Delaney

An art house movie theater which features great films in a tidy setting, run entirely by a wonderful cast of volunteers. What is there not to like about an enterprise like this?

Linda Wagner

Beautiful and well cared for. However, shallow seating means you may sit behind someone who challenges your view of the screen.

Loren Eich

Fun old theater. Friendly volunteer staff.

Vera Isbell

Become a member, great savings. Indie movies - great. Friendly staff.

Herschel Wilson

This place is amazing. The staff is very friendly and had me laughing. The theater is quaint and beautiful. This reminds me of theaters in the past before becoming the huge behemoths they are. Great for a date night!

Tor Parker

Only one of 3 theaters in western Washington showing the must see Indie film. Parking was free, lobby was comfortable and the staff, all volunteer, were so nice. Great non-profit space to support.

richard cote

The cinema itself was very nice. The volunteers were friendly, helpful, and enthusiastic about movies. There is not much parking available, so allow enough time to find a space. I took the last available space in the Diamond parking lot next to the cinema. I came to see "The Dead Don't Die". which is a campy zombie movie.

Cammae Fischer

Lovely selection if movies and great atmosphere

Luis Rattia

Great experience. Outstanding service. Vintage and friendly

Manon St. Wilde

I love the Grand Cinema. It's such a nice Tacoma Gem! The theatre always has a good selection of movies. Leave a happy camper every time.

Cassandra de Kanter

I love The Grand so much. Best place in Tacoma to catch a movie, plus you can bring your Corina Bakery treats into the theater and I can’t imagine a better setup than that. There’s so much good to say about The Grand, so I’ll just leave it at: documentaries. Amazing documentaries show at The Grand; I’ve seen several at this cinema I might not have even heard of otherwise. Oh, and rent The Grand for your birthday party. A+

Leah Mueller

Lovely community movie theater. Great variety of films, friendly staff, and wonderful concession counter with beer, wine, and local treats.

7 & 1 Adventures

Unique place.

Tabatha Long

Very charming place and the staff are so nice. Had some beer during the movie, good choices, and there are a variety of snacks, even ice cream. The showings are in smaller theaters but proportionate; very cozy and the seating is comfy! Had a great time.

Juan Terlaje

Really nice place... Friendly staff Great place for a date or too bring the family.

Don Matthews

Great movies. Cramped seating. Best popcorn.

Terrific theater, smaller rooms for a more intimate cinema experience. Excellent sound. Good choices for films. Not a thousand previews to sit through. Parking is dicey.

Mar O.

Great movie theater! Friendly, inviting, and comfortable without the commercialism of the big movie complexes. They provide a good selection of interesting movies. I appreciate having the more varied and broader scope of movies to choose from.

My son and I have seen many good movies at the Grand Cinema. It's so nice to be able to see independent films at a nice theater in Tacoma.

Zachary Sofia

the main local independent film Theater of Tacoma. Prices are good. they chose great independent movies of all genres. they show different movies on top of the regular movies they show. For example they have weird elephant on Saturdays which shows cult movies . They also have a Tuesday film series and a family film series. They are pretty cool there if you a request a upcoming movie to show they will see if they can show it. you can also apply to volunteer here which is cool as well.

Great place to see indie/off beat movies that might not make it to the bigger theaters in the area

james higgins

Went for weird elephant series. Watched Evil Dead 2. Nice small theatre would go again.

Lisa Borkowski

The Grand is truly a gem in Tacoma. It curates a stunning collection of films, small and obscure to larger, but artsy and not often found on the big screen. Themed weeks, classic films, and enough screens so that you will always find something intriguing. I have taken a chance on so many films at this theater and have yet to be disappointed.

Rebecca Long

The Grand Cinema on Faucet St. has been a great venue and headquarters for the Tacoma Film Fest 2019. It has several screens though the TFF used only 1 and 2. Each had an intimate, old-time feel but with comfort and cleanliness. The concession stand offered the usual along with a beer and wine selection and some local favorites from Ice Cream Social and the bakery next door. Now that the festival has brought me here, I will surely become a regular or a member with some perks!

Michael Barnes

Good selection of hard to find movies. Popcorn was really tasty. Ticket prices were reasonable. Seating and screen were pretty old school. Overall a positive experience. I recommend going.

Jill La Pointe

I love going to the Grand. People who volunteer/work there are generally friendly and the films they show often challenge or expand my mind.

rebecca T

My favorite theater

Diana Talbott

Neighborhood movie house caters to all tastes including first run movies all the way to home grown. Volunteer staff are great. Best popcorn ever! Inexpensive!

Crimson Bullet

Love this art house Cinema. It's clear they love movies and it shows! Always love going to the movies here! The concessions are delicious as well.

sean Hickey

Saw David Gilmore (Pink Floyd guitarist) movie live at Pompeii here and it was fantastic. First time I've been to this theater. Enjoyable, small screen & it's all volunteer. They serve wine & beer (usually only Friday thru Sunday) & use "REAL" butter on the pop corn. They are known for showing independent & old films. I suggest you check it out.

Edwin Rushton

Very cool place. Creative shows, not the run of the mill shows lots of shows about real life and thought provoking. The staff is also great.

Kimsan Dan

Easily one of my favorite theatres I have ever been to. They play plenty of indie films and often play older movies not often seen on the big screen. Would highly recommend visiting for foreign film showings.

Alex L.

A REAL theater! For REAL CINEPHILES. I cannot recommend this theater enough. It is so welcoming, and pleasant that it just makes me want to come back every time. The place is small enough that it is almost impossible for one to get lost. But if you are lost there is always pleasant staff more than happy to help you. Not to mention, the one thing that makes this place so great that it is always filled with genuine movie fans. For the most part, EVERYONE is always respectful when a movie is playing which means: no one is on their phone, no obvious side conversations and engagement. It always makes for an memorable and intimate experience. It is fun to watch a movie with a group of people laughing, and crying at the appropriate moments. If I don't want to put up with a disruptive audience members from big movie theater chains. I go to the Grand Cinema! I would highly recommend!

Heather Frye

Great prices, super flicks, kind staff.

Ruby Behlen

You can never go wrong serving wine with your movie! Super fun- beautiful films, old school theater and real butter on the popcorn.

Bob Firman

Great Flicks. Great popcorn. M

Anthony Chelf

Such a nice gem in Tacoma, and a great host for local events.

Dan Razzaia

Being a Seattle kid, the Cinerama will always be my home theater. That being said, the Grand reminds me of a now long departed arthouse theater of my youth that guided me through my early years of discovering that the Cinema can be a truly enriching place. Whenever I visit, I feel the same spark of wonder I had in that old theater. I look forward to the next time I can sit amongst the red seats & curtains of the Grand, feeling that I am once again amongst friends.

Laura Irish

Best local theater. Becoming a member comes with great perks.

Raindancer98405 Washington

I had a grand time. Enjoyed The Shoplifters. I thank my dear friend Shelly for gifting me these tickets.

Jovan McCoy

Outstanding. I enjoyed the intimate setting of The Grand. Every Theatre should be that nice. The staff gave us a warm greeting, and we're very nice. Theatre was clean, well kept, and cozy. Parking ranges from free to $2.00 (in specific parking lot), and snacks were fair to average in price. We will definitely make plans to visit more regularly.

Lane Richmond

I had no idea this place existed until i realized it was the closest theatre to me playing the Peanut Butter Falcon. For a non profit volunteer run cinema it was an amazing experience worth going back for.

Dean Moriarty

Alright theatre the staff constantly makes fun of the guests I myself have being called a freak while going there and have had to put up with this strange behavior from the various staff members one is a really weird looking old man. They've called me a freak outside of the establishment as well calling me a freak if they ever passed me in public. This has been going on for something like 12 years now if you can put up with being called names on a constant basis by staff of an independent theatre then it's a great place.

Jami Stavlo

Nice place and the club membership seems like a good deal. Seats were pretty comfortable and it really felt like a community there. Popcorn was quite good and the membership gives you a small popcorn each visit.

Robert Cohee

At Eternity's Gate. Always a good time, good movie or bad. Love this theater.

Jeannie Mitchell

Always a great time and then there is Great popcorn!!

Rich Traulsen

Great place for small intimate movies and art house films. Serves beer and wine now too.

MJ Sargent

Cozy spot, great movies!

padma surampudi

There is no more satisfaction than supporting a local theater. Don't get me wrong, I do love going to Regal and watching my favorite movie on the biggest screen but I like the part I play in my participation in something local. All the volunteers who work at The Grand are most cheerful and friendly. Get a family membership and you can watch a movie for 8 dollars. I have not yet had a chance to see Monday movie for members at 5 dollars but I soon will. I love watching some of the movies that will only show at the Grand. And.....don't forget to pick up your free popcorn for members. Add the butter for happiness:) By no means is it tasty or healthy but my husband and I enjoy the tradition. The quality of the picture is not something I will write home about but again the satisfaction of watching something in a local theater makes it okay. Thank you for all that you do to keep your doors open Grand Cinema!

Phil Prudhomme

Good energy, wonderful film offerings. Not for profit.

Jackie Broome

Clean bathroom and popcorn is very good, and they are all very friendly.

Heywood Jablome

I enjoy seeing movies at the Grand Cinema. It's my favorite movie theater.
