Savoy is such a great resource - offering independent as well as major films in a comfortable venue. We went to a party there not long ago, in which the host had rented the cozy downstairs theater for the evening. Affordable, flexible, great fun!

Loved my entire experience, staff was very friendly!

It was nice that they had the movie we wanted to see (Midsommar) because it wasn’t playing anywhere else. Also very good popcorn and a selection of adult beverages which was neat. Never have seen that before. Only complaint is, that if you’re a larger person, you won’t find comfort to enjoy the show. Seats are way too narrow. My husband has bad hips to boot so he had to sit in a folded metal chair on the isle.

The Savoy Theater is the beating heart of Montpelier; I cannot imagine our town without it. Since I first came here in the 1980's, it has been my delight to experience culture, laughter, beauty and sorrow in the independent, foreign, and art films big theaters no longer show.

Love this place. Great options. Good films that miss the main theater. Great snacks and drinks, including craft beer, soda, and snacks.

Comfortable seats, interesting movie and they sell beer. "The Biggest Little Farm" was well done, with a compelling story and a close up look at the difficulties involved in farming.

Nice comfy downstairs small theater. Upstairs seating not as comfortable and view of screen often blocked when lot of people. Floor not slanted well for visual from Sears. Need more foreign films.....spanish, French italian...etc.....

Fantastic theater! Great film selection! Although this theater is smaller than your average blockbuster theaters, The Savoy, offers a more intimate, cozy movie going experience. The film selections are often provocative pieces that leave the viewer lost in thought for hours- even days later. Not to mention the staff is very friendly, the popcorn is always fresh and delicious, plus they serve a variety of local snacks and beverages (non-alcoholic and alcoholic)! I have to say, I love this theater. I always have a great time when I see a film here!

The quality of the movies at the Savoy is outstanding. It is amazing that a small town like Montpelier has such a theater. I go to an average of one movie a week, and am never disappointed. The downstairs is my favorite part of the theater. It is intimate and cozy.

Small arts theater with organic popcorn, chocolates, craft beer, reasonable prices, and a variety of comfy seating. 2 theaters and usually not very crowded. I always enjoy my time here.

Sam Colt

My default "We gotta go have some fun or something bad is going to happen" place to go. I even have a seat I think of as MINE. Whether i laughed my arse off or wept or just loved the movie or not, I still got to go to the Savoy and chat about it with friends afterward. Popcorn with real butter and fluffy nutritional yeast to shake onto it… omg what a treat. And the really great people working there - they really are really great. Best bargain in town. Thank you Savoy!!!!

Bob Fisher

A great local resource. I've enjoyed a number of very fine movies (and a few great ones) here.

Claudia Welch

This is one of the very, very wonderful things about living in central Vermont and is and has been one of the reasons Central Vermont has been so wonderful for so long. It makes my life better. The bricks, the popcorn with real butter and yeast, the tasty drinks, the incredible film choices. Thank you, Savoy, for existing and being a place for joy and reflection for so many groups of people for so long....

Hooray for independent theater! Well others are folding around the country this one is very much alive. Not only do they play the best independent movies, but they also participate fully in the community. They have Community movies from time to time for free, they are an active part of the annual Film Festival. This is the first place I Look to when I'm looking for a night out at the movies. Also their popcorn is amazing. And you can get wine there. But if you're going to the downstairs theater, get there early otherwise you might end up in the back and not be able to hear anything.

A treasure!!! I never regret catching a film here. They know how to pick films, and to create an absolutely charming atmosphere. Not only that, but they serve healthy and delicious popcorn, and…. great wine!!! Also, don't forget to go downstairs, the place with the couches!!! That's a great room in which to watch a movie!!!
