Today was the first time I've visited the Capitol Theater in Laurens. Let's just say, I will be back! This is a one screen theater that plays family friendly films. And, they have a restaurant as well. We didn't eat, but boy did it smell good! The theatre is small but roomy and the acoustics were great. The original grandeur of the building shows through from the ceiling down to the highly polished hard wood floors. If you go to this theater looking for for whole multiplex cinema experience, you will be disappointed, however if you're comfortable with small time appeal, this is the place!

I gave 3 stars mainly because I like the idea of being able to eat dinner while watching a movie. The reason I didn't give the other two stars was because the food was sub-par for the price and the dining area was not positioned to be able to eat and watch movie. Also I kept feeling like I was in the way of the people at another table being able to see the screen.

This place delivered the worst dining experience I've ever had. It took an hour to get our food. Two of our orders were missing one of the sides. We ate while waiting for them. About 30 minutes later when we were done eating, I went to the counter to inquire about our mac n cheese. I was finally informed that they'd run out of Mac n cheese so they had supposedly given us a double order of fries instead. The customer service was horrible- someone could have informed us that they ran out of the macaroni and asked us to pick another side. At the very least they could have let us know they gave us double fries when they finally delivered the food. A friendly apology for the confusion would have been nice considering how it all was handled.

Poor service. I'm sitting here now I've been here almost an hour and it took almost 30 mins to get my order in. I've gotten good inputs about the food and movie service, but my first time trying has me really disappointed. Still waiting on food and I may or may not come back again.

Salad was great as was the green beans but the hamburger meat for my hamburger steak was not good. Didn't taste right. Outside of that the way the lady (owner) handled the situation was inappropriate in that all she could offer was they had served 15 earlier in the day with no objections. That had nothing to do with the fact that it didn't taste like hamburger meat. Disappointed but went to Roma's and enjoyed my meat item there where they always aim to please their customer.

A renovated 1920's movie theater that provides a unique experience - a step back in time. You are able to grab a bite at the restaurant and view the movie while you eat! The movies are family friendly, and the projection and sound are digital. The movie prices are a couple bucks less then the multiplexes. So next time you're looking to go see a movie, consider the Capitol Theatre!

I love this place. The owners and staff are friendly and responsive. The food is very good. The prices are fair. The movie price itself is only $5.00. The atmosphere is family friendly. They show recent films. The floors and restrooms are always clean.

Great idea and the dinner looks very cool but....the staff had the personality of a piece of cardboard. It took the tall blonde lady three times to finally to start writing our order down and she acted like she barely had to energy to stand up. It took over 35 minutes to two simple meals and a tea refill. The food was OK at best and overpriced. This place could be awesome if only the people working there would act like the people that was coming in and paying them were welcome. We will not be back.

We went here for the first time as a whole family to the movies. All 11 of us splurged to go see Overcomer in an historic theater on the historic Laurens Square. We enjoyed the movie and decided to eat in the very cool 50s diner in front afterwards. We had heard they had one of the best cheeseburgers in town. But I am sad to say it did not seem as if they wanted to wait on us. We waited over a half hour for a waitress. It was busy, but they kept staring at us and would not serve us. At least 3 or 4 wait staff just standing and staring at us from behind the counter. We sat and watched others order, be served, and leave before we were served. When the food finally came after sitting there over an hour and nearly 90 minutes it was very good, but the kids had passed their ability to sit still. They had done so well the first hour while hungry. I am not sure whether we will return, but the combination of good food and a movie in the same place is a great business concept, and I wish them well and hope their staff training improves.

Would've given it 4 stars but our food took forever, the fries were cold and i paid .25 extra for sautéed onion we never got. The rest of the experience was pleasant. The breakfast burger was fabulous.

First timer today.. Took a group of 8 over for lunch and a movie... What a good time we had. They had a full service cafe and hand dipped ice cream with a pretty good menu which includes some great hamburgers.. They had a jukebox In the middle of the floor... Playing the great songs from the 50"s and 60's... You can even eat your meal while watching the movie...and you can expect some friendly southern service.

Diner is cute, but they throw off kind of a vibe to non-locals. Been here twice and both times the same staff girl was about as friendly as a cactus when asked about show times, etc. The 2nd time, I just asked if they were having food (she told me they don't on Sundays, with a marked tone as if I should know- sorry I live in Fountain Inn). Guess what? I would've eaten somewhere in Laurens then saw the movie since I'd come that far, but that kid's tone and style blew it for me. I got back in my car and rolled up to Simpsonville, ate lunch, and then saw the movie I wanted. And I won't be back to Laurens. No wonder there's practically tumbleweeds rolling down their main street/square.

We absolutely love this theater! It has a great 50's vibe, a free play Jukebox and hands down the best burgers in Laurens County! If you get there 30 minutes before showtime, you can place your order and eat in the theater while you watch your movie or eat in the Diner before your movie begins. Don't forget to save room for hand dipped ice cream on the way out! .....or concessions on the way in.

3-30-2018 My teenage girls went to see the early evening show of "You can only imagine" tonight. Bought tickets, stood in line, and then found out the show was OVER SOLD. When the girls asked for a refund the theater would NOT give them their money back , but said to "come back tomorrow night". Another girl that was in the group said this was the second time she had been turned away with a ticket she had bought days earlier. This is completely a dishonest business practice, and I believe taking advantage of young ladies.

If I could give it a 0 I would. I ordered the pork chop and it was like eating cardboard. The sides had absolutely no seasoning. My niece got the pot roast and it was greasy. She tried to send the pot roast back but was informed they don’t do refunds even though none of it was eaten. The owner or cook came over and berated her about why she didn’t like the pot roast since it was a “top seller” Save your stomach and just say no to capital theatre cafe
