REVIEWS OF Row House Cinema IN Pennsylvania

Nick Dowell

This is honestly one of my favorite places in Pittsburgh. The beer selection is awesome and the themes for the movies are always a blast.

Latoya Burch

I've been here a few times, each visit was pleasant. They have a small, friendly staff. The owner is a cool guy. I love that there is a bar connected to the theater with an awesome selection! The concession stand is small, but has everything you need for a good movie snack. The seats are nice, but they don't have any sort of reclining ability, which can be rough if you have a bad back or wanna stretch a little. It's easy to purchase tickets online, which I recommend. Every show I've attended has sold-out in advance. I also recommend following their social media to stay informed of all their upcoming shows.

Brady Rainey

They always have great movies playing and a bar next door doesn't hurt. Friendly staff.

Kendra Wells

Always great service. Went to a viewing of The Room and had a blast.

Darlene Waddingham

We loved going here for the Harry Potter festival. A cute, little theater that packs in a lot of personality. Also, the popcorn was the best!

Stephen Conover

Gourmet popcorn (with real butter!), craft beers, and an incredible rotating selection of movies? Definite yes! One of the coolest spots in Lawrenceville. Check their constantly rotating themed schedules for upcoming movies, and you'll be in for a treat at this small theater.

Jonech

What an excellent cinema, seriously nice atmosphere. I loved having a beer and watching a movie I wouldn't have found in bigger theaters. The volume was a bit loud for my musician friend but he had decibel dampeners so it wasn't a problem.

David Wiggins

This place is great. They play a bunch of random cool movies that you wouldn't be able to see other places. The screen isn't gigantic but it's big enough, and the seats are comfortable. I've had a nice experience every time I've been here. It's everything you could want out of an independent movie theater.

Christopher Edwards

My only complaint is that I wish there was a little more leg room, but it's not that big of a deal. Best concession options out there. Don't pass up the popsicles

Annie M

I love this place. They always have really cool events and movies you can't see anywhere else. Oh, and awesome hefeweizen!

Sean Singiser

Really cool place!

Rainee Kaczorowski

Thos place is great. Watch a movie, drink a craft beer, eat good popcorn, can't go wrong.

Joseph Zimo

Cozy, intimate, great food and drink selections. Had a fantastic time!

Dolores Schano

Loved it. It is like the old fashion theatre that you do not see anymore.

Matthew John Hadodo

One of the best things about Pittsburgh! Being a member of the Row House Film Club, I get to relax and unwind every so often with these awesome themed weeks.

Adam Lewis

Neat little theatre. Don’t expect grandeur, but their theater has good video quality and great sound quality in a small space. There’s a bottle shop attached and a small bar downstairs (but no kitchen :/). The snack bar has a couple of craft beers on tap, plus the normal movie theatre fare. The good thing is, if you’re looking for “real” food, several good options within a block or two.

Beth Ann Hockenberry

Participated in the 24 hour Harry Potter movie marathon, and I can't believe it took me this long to come here! Everything was well planned out! I will definitely be back!

Rochelle Fraenig

So happy I found this little theater!!

Ben M.

Cool theatre, and you won't max out your credit card for a popcorn and Coke, unlike most theatres.

Dan Jeffrey

They have such a great ability to plan theme weeks. The pricing is very reasonable, and the movie passes make it even more so. The beer selection is top notch, and the snacks are better than what you'd get a typical theater. My only gripe has been the tiny seats, but it's worth it for the shows they put on.

Nboykiw8 8

Row House plays the best selection of specialty, cult, and classic movies in the city. They have an outstanding beer and soda selection and can instant-cool any bottle or can. I bought one too many tickets to the last showing I attended and they gave me a free pass for a future showing. I admire this business more than any other in the city as a film buff. They are entirely deserving of their fantastic reputation.

Linda Crum

Best theater!

Sean T

Good choice of craft beers, conscession stand was good.

Kyle Hupman

Cute little theater! Great for indies and classics.

Eric Standish

Where else can you drink great beers and watch old school movies?

Denise Ritter

I love this theater! The variety of movies they show, the themes they run, and the atmosphere makes this a nice option to have, especially when the larger, multi-screen theaters all run several screens of identical movies.

Marco Gruelle

Great place. Fun atmosphere

Rachel Rodgers

I love the films they select, definitely a fun date night. The seats are a bit killer, kinda rough on the back.

dennis leininger

Really nice theater. The seats are a little small, and there's not much leg room, but all in all, it's a nice place

Andrea Davis

Amazing vibe, awesome posters, and comfy seats. Will definitely be coming back!

Scott Anderson

They show great movies! They aren’t stuffy. Yes, you can see a black and white, German, impressionist, silent film, but you can also see Die Hard with Chinese food or the Riff Trax version of Titanic (which was hilarious.) Additionally, there’s a great beer store connected to the theater that will chill your speciality beer in seconds. I go wherever I can!

James Merlino

Old time cinema. Lots of craft beers. Lots of fun

Thomas Tylek

An awesome venue with great movies to show and an awesome setup being combined with a sort of bar/craft beer distributor so you can pick your favorites and have them during the show! The venue is a little smaller than a typical commercial theatre but I still loved it there!

Joanna Obuzor

Great movies. Delightful atmosphere. Delicious concessions. Friendly staff. The most uncomfortable seats ever.

Eric Ketterer

Great time watching Goldfinger, beer store and bar attached had great selection of beers. Would highly suggest for chill date night or hanging out with friends.

Melinda Guinn

Fantastic independant theater with a variety of interesting films. Tasty snacks and treats at concessions and craft beers at the bar.

Logan Gatenby

Small one screen theater showing a daily changing repertoire of films based on weekly or monthly themes

Peter Sorrell

Love this theater, always bring the kiddos to the Harry Potter Festival!

Gregory Deal

Excellent place to see a movie! Just go damnit!

Josh Miser

Fun place to see a movie! The crowd can sometimes be a bit rowdy, especially with the bottle shop/taproom attached, but that can provide the perfect atmosphere for comedy/cult classics. Just don't be surprised if someone in the crowd yells out their favorite line or participates in the action.

Steve Duncan

A nice, if somewhat hipster, little theater with good taste in movies

Andrea Ackley

LOVED the theater, staff and bar areas. The seats are small, close and unfortunately uncomfortable. If you're taller than 5'4", forget about crossing your legs and you better like who you're sitting next to cause you're rubbing elbows all night. Great selection of movies and snacks! Will return just will sit in an aisle.

Chris Mayle

Charming little spot. Awesome rathskeller.

Stephen Short

After more than 4 and a half years, I finally went to see a movie at this theater. Row House Cinema mainly shows classic films. Each week, there's a different theme of movies. This week, it's movies by Steven Spielberg. I wanted to see E.T. But, I saw Jurassic Park instead. The lobby is very small. People can purchase tickets and concession items right there. There's also a pinball machine in the lobby as well (I wanted to play so bad). The auditorium is beautiful with stadium seating and cup holders. But, there's only 83 seats in the auditorium. So on the weekends, it's best that you order tickets online for shows. Overall, I like this place and plan to return.

Gabrielle Clark

Row House is one of the best places in the city to catch a movie. The large variety they show makes it difficult to not catch a movie here frequently. I love that it allows me to experience movies that have been out for years in a theater. Definitely check out there schedule if you're looking for something to do.

Tamala Murk

great little.cinema.

Rian Corcoran

Best theater in Pittsburgh - no question about it.

Dale Miller

I love this place. I'm here once a month and I always enjoy myself. Highly recommended.

Dmitriy S

Awesome theater. Plays some older films but the atmosphere is amazing. Definitely worth seeing any movie there.

Brad Sciullo

This place cant be better. The popcorn is the best in town and they use real butter, this alone is worth going. The beer and pop selection is of the best in the city and you can take it right into the theater with you. check them out for private events! The sales and floor staff are awesome at this and can pretty much put anything together. I have been 4 times since going to a private event and its been better and better.

Sharon Pohl

Loved it..... will be back

Alden Roth

This theatre is awesome. They show tons of second run and classic movies, with a different theme each week. Prices are great, deals are better. The popcorn is killer. They are attached to a beer store, and they let you take the beer into the movie. What more could you want in a theatre?

Marissa Thistlethwaite

This place is too cool for school. Brewery attached to the theater, friendly staff. Old movies back on the big screen!

Tirzah Allen

Love everything about this theatre except the seats. Very uncomfortable.

Sandy Miller

Awesome theater with an interesting film lineup.

Tom Jackson

I love having this theater in the neighborhood. They always show good movies and the themes they pick for the week are often very clever. I am taking just one start off because I think the weeknight tickets are a little pricey for second run movies, but if you're a resident or a student you can get a dollar off. Their popcorn is great, and so is their beer selection!

Joe Schneider

Row House never shows first run films. This is awesome. They keep a consistently rotating film festival style format for programming that will at some point cover a theme that you will want to watch. Add easy availability of craft brews and next door access to Smoke and this is one of my favorite places to go in the Burgh.

Alex Ault

Row House is such an amazing theater. We love it.

Julius Ecker

Always fun. We went for the interactive "The Room" show. Packed house, and everyone was totally in to it. They gave out bags of spoons to throw at the screen. (LOL!) The adjoining bottle shop had a ton of options for beverages for the show. Lots of tasty options. Some good values too. Found a 16oz IPA on sale for $4.

mark wilkes

Awesome Neighborhood Theater! ! & Always Showing Something Cool!! CHECK THERE LISTINGS...

Charles Kirkland

Great venue. Artsy crowd

Roy Davis

Row House is a small theater, but they make a point to show some classic films and special releases. As an anime fan, I appreciate their anime week, as well as times when they show films like Battle Royale.

S B

Cool old style theater with a brewery/pub as part of it.

Caroline Stevens

My only critisism is the seats - they're rather narrow and I find them uncomfortable.

Caroline W

Oh my god oh my god oh my god. I'm not kidding when I say I adore this place. I've seen the BEST movies in this theatre. I've never heard of nor had friends that knew of loads of the films that they play, though they play well deserving classics too, and it's absolutely exciting. It's a little, cute place with genuine personality, and their schedule is well organized ahead of time so you don't have to plan any events last minute. It's the most creative place for watching movies I know of. I feel strongly about this theatre and I reccomend it to anybody with an open mind amidst Pittsburgh!!!

Sarah Boarts

I absolutely love that bierport is next door and works with them. Knowledgeable beer service and great movies on hand every week. What could go wrong? Also tasty movie snacks and a scheduled intermission for refills

Jessie Violet

Small and cozy but unique place in the city. Grab dinner next door at Smoke, then grab some drinks on the other side at the Bierport to take to the movies! Perfect and easy date night.

Henry Murphy Jr

Quaint little theater.

Emily Miller

I love seeing movies here. The atmosphere is like you're hanging with your friends in their rich parents' basement with a theatre if their rich parents were kind of hipsters. They have special events such as costume contests or sleepover pajama movies with concessions discounts for participating. Also, beer with a movie.

Elena Russin

Very friendly staff, nice small movie theater, cozy atmosphere. Definitely will be back.

Brandon Clark

Cozy little theater that knows how to put on a production.

Paul McLean

Terrific little repertory cinema, with a great-value monthly membership plan. Enhances Lawrenceville's reputation as a wonderful neighborhood. Check it out!

Paul Marion, Jr.

Very nice, cozy theater

T P

Cozy, single screen theatre with excellent pop corn, draft beer at the concessions and an attached beer store with further options. Film selection is changed weekly and based on theme. Good balance of interesting film and pure entertainment. Special events make use of the stage in front of the screen.

Michael Kielman

Great experience (as always

Isaiah Shane

My favorite place to see films. Friendly staff, very clean and great prices! Very cool to drink beer and watch movies

Brian Smith

This is an amazing theater! Small, private feel, shows classic movies, great staff and serves craft beer. What more could you ask for? Would definitely recommend.

Deana Wagner

This place is so nice. The staff is fantastic and friendly. Very clean. It’s nice to have a local place like this to see old movies. Huge, huge beer selection! Will be returning.

James Amato

Went to see Pee-Wee's Big Adventure during Tim Burton week. It was great!

Ana Paula

Best movies, best popcorn and super nice staff. The midnight sessions are always excellent with good selection of those movies you always wanted to watch in the big screen but thought it wouldn't be possible. Also, you can grab a beer and go watch a movie, what can be better than that?

Ryan Lowe

Great place to drink a beer and watch some awesome movies! Really enjoy the theater and the setting.

stranger_ loosers

This place is the absolute best

Andrea DeMarco

First time here was for a private party and I loved it! Will definitely be checking the schedule as would love to again.

Jordan Mikesell

You can get craft beer here!!! Really cool old theater in a trendy part of Lawrenceville, a little small but a ton of character. Tend to do cool off the beaten path movie festivals. We took our kids to a funny cat video fest and it was a blast. FYI it's street parking and it's limited so give yourself time to find parking.

Mary Lou Rieger

Family friendly - just the right size

Jennifer Cooney

Immaculate, great movie themes, good concessions, and cold beer and cider.

Natalie Greene

I love this small local theater that serves fresh natural popcorn with butter or chocolate (both are delicious), snacks and beer!! I first attended last week twice with my daughter during the Pittsburgh International Children's Film Fest. The films were awesome, the volume was at a nice safe level, the seats were comfy, the staff are super nice, and we had a great time with lots of other kids!! We got a 10 visit pass and cannot wait to go back and enjoy more movies together! It is so wonderful to have a nice theater in town that caters to all ages!

Patrik Natali

Really good experience, combination bar and theatre playing interesting non mainstream movies

Aubrey Thompson

Cute, intimate, casual theatre with friendly staff and affordable snacks. Been here twice and excited to return.

Christie Whelan

This place is so cool. The seats are spaced out decently and comfortable, and the snacks looked good. And I can get beer? I dig the old movies, and the picture and sound were great. Already booked tickets for another show

Pia Colucci

We went to Grey Gardens, the Prequel today. My sister and I want to thank you for being in Lawrenceville, so convenient! We love your clean and amenities filled theater. And, last but certainly NOT least, your air conditioning was a great break for us today. We are coming back Sunday for Black Panther!

Constance Lawrence

Great little, nostalgic neighborhood theater

Anthony Colwell

A great place with a friendly staff, and I always know what's going on because they are active on social media. Definitely recommend especially brew and views.

Arun Srivatsan

Most lovely theater in Pittsburgh

Kast Hark

This is a place you can catch Cannibal Holocaust aaaand Hocus Pocus. Friendly staff and kind prices. Great date night in Pittsburgh. Keep up on the schedule here there are things for the family as well as fantastic selections for the more experienced movie goer.

Dave Cameron

Love it! Great, intimate arthouse cinema with a great movie selection with weekly themes. An added bonus is the draft beer selection and all-natural popcorn. Rowhouse is a Pittsburgh gem!

Bryon Borek

The Monty python coconut night was a blast

Jessica Zimo

What an amazing place! They play the best old and classic movies. I loved the themed movie weeks and cereal and cinema. Plus, go right next door to get craft beer from Bierport and bring it in to the movie with you! One of my favorite places to go in Pittsburgh.

Christopher Byrne

Saw Spaceballs here. This place is great! Great seats, great atmosphere, great movie selection. Looking forward to the next features. And they have a bar! Always a plus.

DJ Reese

Neat little theater. Went to see Mary Poppins and cant wait to go back for other throwbacks.

Alex Soracco

This is an awesome place to see old movies. Not only is there an enormous selection of beers to choose from next door (to be enjoyed during the movie) they even have runs of different themes, like foreign films from a specific director or a specific theme. Before or after the movie, you can also enjoy a delicious meal at one of the restaurants nearby (my favorite is Smoke).

Andrew Shaw

Loved it. Great little theater, very wonderful staff, and great movies.

Shannon Ebbitt

I love Row House Cinema. Tonight I saw Rocky Horror Picture Show with the Junior Chamber of Commerce Shadow Players, last time I went to breakfast cinema with my daughter and saw Princess Bride. They are a small little theater that shows classic movies and serves beer! I just love it!

Michael W

Excellent art film independent cinema.

Andrew Rosenberger

Lovely theater but do the deluxe seating. The regular seating is tough and not for big and tall people. Also no coat or hat check. Park in the pnc bank lot after the bank closes. Street parking is non existent. Lawrenceville needs a parking garage.

Norman Laborde

I just love this neighborhood cinema! Their seats do not recline and the theater is small but that's the whole charm to it (it is a Rowhouse after all). Also they have super comfy sofas you can just melt into while watching the movie in the first row! Bar in the basement serves beer and munchies you can bring up to the theatre and they also serve draft beer at the consecions stand.

Shane Peppel

Great atmosphere, very clean environment, the man running the concession stand was very nice and helpful, when it was our first time. The popcorn was horrid, though. Tasted like pure metal. I'm guessing it had been sitting for a few hours, maybe a whole day. Not good. Still a decent experience, but popcorn is one of the main parts of a movie experience.

Robert Kuntz

Great place. Better people. Good beer. Classic movies.

Pierre Amelot

Awesome Indie theater! Super friendly staff and great movie selection!

Ken Hornfeck

Amazing single screen theater with an excellent selection and variety of films. They play a series of 3-4 films per week with a common theme, giving audiences a chance to see rare/old/foreign/art films on the big screen, as well as more recent and mainstream ones. They also serve excellent popcorn and beer, which just makes the experience all the better.

Chelsea

This place is so unique and amazing. I love the selection of movies and the themes. The place is always so clean and well maintained. The service is amazing. Parking is difficult as it is on the main road and street parking can get pretty crowded, but it is absolutely worth it!

Steve Irish

Good little old-time theatre to come see some classics. Real butter for the popcorn!

Gaven Wolfgang

This is the best movie theatre I've ever been to. The prices are very good, especially for the quality of food and service. The seats were really comfy and the movie selection very fitting for whatever time of year it is and at the same time, diverse. I'm definitely going for a second visit.

Julia Price

Row House is an incredible little place that comes up with very unique events around the movies they show. Theme weeks are also always a fun time!

Alexis A

I am a huge movie lover and this place does not disappoint. Very cute location, friendly staff, and interesting selection of films. I also appreciate that they rotate their titles and times so that no matter what your schedule is you can see what you want to see. There is only one screen and it is often a full house (or close to) at prime times, but it is comfortable and a great overall experience.

geoff

great films, everything from anime to vintage horror (and modern releases). show times are a bit limited as well as the seating. make sure to get in early for popular films or you'll be on the floor... paired with a nice, adjoining loose beer store.

Lex Jackson

One of several classy independent movie theaters in the area. This one is in Lawrenceville.

Jake Mirra

Very fun to watch culty films here. There’s a beer store basically as part of the theater!

Craig McDaniel

Wonderful atmosphere, great beer selection.

George Schaefer

I LOVE IT!

Kyle Plump

Beautiful, smaller theater in a great location. You can buy craft beer next door and take it into the theater with you. I have yet to try any of the concessions, but I hear that the popcorn is incredible. Row House has a wonderful vibe, and shows some great, classic movies.

Manuel Calongos Curotto

Excellent place, great pop corn and good beer!

Robert Creo

A wonderful place with unique films. I am an annual member for a set fee which includes a free popcorn

Linda Monteleone

Great old time movie experience! Delicious popcorn...great prices..lots of restaurants and bars within walking distance. 12am movies!! For the "night owls". Will be back!

Tr3 S

Amazing show lovely casts and welcoming employees. I've never had such a welcoming environment at a movie theater before

The Chodeman

My favorite place to see films in Pittsburgh. The staff is super nice and the theater is very cozy. They do some pretty cool themed week stuff.

April Jones

Definitely a neat place! Seems like the owners are really into it and quite hip. I love that it offers an adjoining bottle shop. Easy to find and nicely decorated. I only have reservations about the volume control of the audio. Will certainly be back!

Kaitlin Gale

Interesting movie selections and really really good fresh popcorn. You can order your tickets online. Also, you can take beer in from next door. My only complaint is the lack of leg room in the seating. My legs got pretty crampy by the end. Otherwise, nice place. Cool posters in the hallway.

B G

Nice. small theater with a beer shop next to door. Can take beer in. Small Concession stand

Elaine Smearman

It's a great little place to catch a flick. They always have different themes or events going. Something for everyone. The theater is a tad confined but I think it adds to the charm.

Jeff Montana

Great concept and execution of a small theater that serves beer. Nuff said.

Rita Young

Nice neighborhood theater with chocolate popcorn

Kirsten Robinson

Love going to the film festival. A great hidden gem.

Ash Andrews

Super fantastic, comfortable theater. Awesome natural popcorn with nutritional yeast option. Great beer selections you can take in the theater. Quirky and weird thematic film weeks. Overall pretty damn perfect. (I do wish they had wine, tho)

John Eaves

Great small venue for indie films, older titles, and cult classics. The staff is friendly and passionate about movies. The attached bottle shop has an amazing selection for everyone, from craft beers to craft sodas. For real, I got a Sioux City Sasparilla there. The place is always clean, warm, and welcoming. I look forward to going back.

Christian Clark

Went for the first time during "Staff Picks" week at the end of 2018 and bought 2 premiere movie club passes for the year. Love it.

Aimee Manion

My favorite theater in Pittsburgh! Small and perfect. They screen movies I actually want to watch, and I can do so while enjoying craft beer.

The Hessian

Real butter!

Wil Stephens-Spann

This is nice and cozy little theater and the staff just as pleasant in person as they were on the phone. ..I enjoyed my first visit to the Row House Cinema! !! I would definitely return to see another movie. .. "If Beale Street Could Talk," was the perfect movie for me to have as very first experience there. .. If you're curious about this place, just give it a chance. ..

Paull

Sold out didn't get see the movie, very small place. This will be my review until I actually get to see a movie there.....

Dan Herdman

Great little theater showing quirky, cult, independent and foreign films. Bonus is that you can bring beer in there from Bierport and drink high end stuff while watching. Score.

Alex Liu

Please do a modern Sci-Fi series with interstellar!!!

Gabbey Gibby

Very cute. I enjoyed my visit.

Marylouise Bittner

Nice small theater with nice beer bar and snacks. Artsy.

Alison Steele

Excellent movie theater. Great movies all the time - always a different and interesting theme every week. Tap room and bottle shop attached so you can have a beer with your popcorn. (Popcorn is all-natural too!)

Ajayan Subramanian

Great selection of movies. Their festivals are usually great. The staff is also really friendly. The tickets are pretty cheap too. Love this place.

Carson Folio

Row House Cinema is such a unique theater, like you shouldn't expect to see brand new movies but what they play here is always good (My neighbor Totoro for example!). I've been going here for about 3-ish years and I still remember when this, Smoke and the beer place were all just the star Mart. Good old times, but it's nice to see what became of it. Also the popcorn here is insanely good!

Tessamyn Wieczorkowski

Such a nice way to spend an evening.
