Great little venue for smaller events. We attended a comedy show which was great and the small seating capacity allows to to have a great seat no matter where you sit. Get there early if you want to have a choice of seating. We showed up about 20 minutes before the doors open and still had a line of about 40 people in front of us. The only issues I had was the check in process was done with a paper list and slowed things done slightly (not really a big issue, unless it’s raining). I understand these places need to make money and drinks are part of that, but at $5 a drink, that may be a tad overpriced. All in all a great experience!

Cool really old theater with a balcony and wood floors and the seats are the old theater kind. The theater serves beer, wine, soda, and popcorn. I recommend a showing for a step back in time. It would be difficult for a handicap person to get to the restroom due to going down a flight of stairs.

What a great little local gem! We resolve to try to catch more events here! My daughter's dance studio had a showcase at the theater, and all the seats had great views. There's even a balcony and small concession stand.

The intimate setting with close proximity to the stage created a wonderful ambiance for a very funny evening with Raymond, the Amish Comic. Kevin Dombrowski, the other comic on the bill, also killed the audience. All in all, a very enjoyable evening in a quaint, beautiful theater.

Special place. It's a tiny movie house with 1 screen. I went there for a birthday party which was different. If you go to the web site (or Facebook page) they have special viewings of classic movies. A week after I was there they were going to show the wizard of Oz.

Had a wonderful client appreciation event here and I'm very pleased with everything. Everyone was welcoming and friendly. The popcorn was delicious. My clients loved it and were impressed. It is nice simply seeing a movie here. This is really a great spot for any event or party. A+

I did enjoy coming to the Newtown Theatre at first. It was a lovely theatre with lovely staff. But as I kept coming here, my experience and enjoyment has declined rapidly. For starters, the audio in the theatre is TERRIBLE. It is so terrible that you can hear people eating and talking in full volume. Secondly, this theatre has been doing more musicals and events lately and not that many movies which makes it not really a movie theatre. Finally, the fact that they charge non-members $10 and members $5 just for spending like $50ish dollars is outrageous. If you ask me, all prices should be equal no matter what. To put my last experience into words, I went to see Apollo 11 and the audio was so terrible and I complained about how the people in the balcony wouldn't shut their mouths and they didn't do anything so I ended up getting a full refund. I feel as if this theatre can improve greatly and I do not seeing myself coming to this theatre anytime soon.

Love this little theatre. Not a bad seat in the place. Full of character and charm. Shows first-run movies as well as special events like classic movies, Christmas movies, and even live shows and entertainment. And they serve wine and beer too! I always check there first to see what’s playing before making my plans.

I wish I could give this beautiful historic theater five stars but they couldn't show a ten minute film without cutting out halfway through. They had less than amateur control over what appeared on the screen or when the lights went on/off. The popcorn and candy were way overpriced (could be overlooked it the rest of the experience was magical). They tried to give me warm bottled water. I think for stars is generous.

Nice tucked away older venue in Olde Newtown. They have plays, music and movies. Not a bad seat in the house. This "turn of the century " theater is quaint, with over 300 seats and smell of fresh popped popcorn looming through the house. Throw back consessions are priced reasonable as they also offer limited choices of beer and wine. To go ice buckets available to save on return trips to bar. House sound covers venue very well, balanced volumes and house tuned EQ's. Ticket prices very reasonable. Rest rooms could be tough for the physically challenged. Venue available for rental for events and birthday parties.

Not many viewings available and generally they're showing strange local shows or plays with a few mainstream movies mixed in, usually kid or family oriented. Not very clean or well taken care of either which is a pity as this is a historic landmark.

Love the whole experience! I remember going to the movies all Saturday afternoon and sitting in the balcony. My kids never had the balcony and big screen experience until we discovered the Newtown Theatre. We have seen comedy shows and touching movies together. Many families "bearly" talk but we laugh and love this together as adults. Membership is great price too!! .

Have not been here in years. No trouble parking. My seat was very comfortable. Next time I will sit in the balcony. They have a very small bar. Wine and beer. Popcorn was very good. Will definitely go back.

The board arbitrarily and inexplicably cancelled this year's plans to show Christmas movies... a beloved holiday tradition in our community. Apparently, they're really sticking it to the old manager with less than zero regard for the many families crying this year over the board's terminal myopia.

They close the theatre to convert to digital for showing movies. It closed in October of 2013. They fire the GM who had plans of showing movies during the conversion and keeping the Christmas movie tradition alive. Now it is February and the Board of Trusties still haven't upgraded. Very poor management and planning on their part. I am afraid for the theatre will not last in the hands of the Board.

This theater is the very first ever built in our whole country it is worth seeing for that reason alone. It only shows one movie at a time and the seating is the old style plenty to do and see around the area as well
