REVIEWS OF Guthrie Theatre IN Pennsylvania

Kraig Keller

Classic movie theater look inside and out. A Sony digital cinema projector makes this an amazing blend of old and new. You can't beat their prices. You even get a free small popcorn if you use the ATM!

Chad Burdette

A wonderful small theatre, has a old cinema feel to it and very reasonable prices.

Cindy Marsch

Love the Nostalgia Cinema summer feature and look forward to future improvements.

Dan McCoy

Nice to have a local theater but the line down the left side of the screen and several smudges near the center make enjoying a movie tough, not to mention all the construction materials laying around

Wes Wyzykowski

My favorite theater to visit, bar none. With a marquee that is unlike other I've ever seen, an overall atmosphere from another generation of film going, and staff that is always incredibly courteous and knowledgeable. I'm always so happy not just to see a film here when I'm in the area, but also more than willing to travel to spend time in this lovely atmosphere. A must visit theater for any enthusiast, or simply anyone wishing to see films in an environment from not only a bygone era of theater viewing, but also an era where going to see a movie felt far more personal and intimate.

Katie Haux

I love going to the movies at this place. It's homey and reminds me of vintage which I love!

Lictor Rene Guzman Valadez

Excellent place to see movies

Diana Royer

Concert was great, hoping for many more

Orion Jenkins

Lovely small town theatre.

Matt Fuss

This historic theater in downtown Grove City, PA is a gem. It is a single screen theater which shows first run movies as well as independent films and other live acts. It has recently undergone major renovations under new management, including a VIP balcony with power leather reclining seats and an expanded concession menu. Service is always friendly and helpful. Ticket prices are very affordable.

Rhiannon Welton

One of the few Vaudeville theatres converted to movie theatres still in operation. And the balcony is always open :) Clean and nostalgic with a friendly staff.

Jonathan H

Great local theater with very reasonable prices.

Nathan VanGraafeiland

This is a nice, old, renovated theater with very cheap tickets.

Leesa Lynn

Really fun old movie theater.

Melonie Magee

Love my hometown theater. Been around since 1927 and going full speed ahead. At Christmas the have free movies on special weekends for kids and adults alike. Elf this year for kids and White Christmas for adults. Loved seeing it on the big screen.

Shelly Isacco

I love the historic atmosphere in this theater. The equipment has been updated so you get that great movie quality with quaint surroundings.

Emma Shaw

It's a rare thing to be able to watch first run movies in a vintage movie house in a small town. Very Bedford Falls/It's A Wonderful Life. Price is fair, seats are comfortable, screen is huge, and all with that bit of old Hollywood "glam" to the decor. Now - don't go to this if you want state-of-the-art surround sound. But if you love to walk down American Small Town USA and grab a popcorn and see a wonderful movie for almost half of what you'd pay elsewhere? Come to the Guthrie. It's a gem of a little movie house - only wish they'd show some classics and independent films. That would be the icing on the cake.

James Confer

Affordable night out, spurge for VIP balcony seats. Comfortable reclining seats.

Rock TayTay

I like upgraded hidef digital quality on the audio and video. But I also like the old school theater vibe and the ginormous screen, very cool!

j. anthony Bancroft

Nice small town theater, that gets new releases.

Joe Berringer

Pretty good theatre. The back row of seats needs cup holders though

C Melnick

Absolutely the best exsperiance I've ever had in a movie theater! I went to see Aladdin, 2019 movie. Price was great! The balcony seats are awesome! Perfect combination of restoration and modern comfort. Great picture and sound. Really enjoyed it and I will be coming back.

Jude Talbot

Nice old fashioned style theatre. Yes the seats are like an old school auditorium but the new digital projection is very crisp.

Jew Shirls

Good

Adam Cramer

The Guthrie is a dirty, old, poorly kept theater. The screen is too small and the sound system is mediocre, but the tickets are cheap (about $7) and it's the only theater nearby

Ruby Woods

The theatre is old timey and cute but the seats are so uncomfortable

Leesa M

So rare to have such an historic theatre lovingly brought back to it's grandeur. Having first run movies, as well as live entertainment, is a wonderful way to share 'The Queen of Broad Street '. Thank you!

Marlene Heath

Love the old time theatet

Meghan Dzurichko

This is the best theatre around. The popcorn is so good and tickets for adults are only 7$ which is half the price of most movie theatre's. I will warn you however, if you sit in the balcony, you will boil, and if you sit in the front, you will freeze.

I LOVE Small Town & Home Town "MOVIE THEATRES" bc THEY ALL have that SPECIAL AURA. In ZELIENOPLE, A Special Committee Group was FORMED to SAVE the "STRAND THEATRE" in the DOWNTOWN Business & Restaurant District. In DORMONT, PA A DEVOTED Group of Business & Restaurant Owners PULLED their RESOURCES & INFLUENCES Together to SAVE A Neighborhood "MOVIE THEATRE" called the "HOLLYWOOD THEATRE". In OAKMONT, PA, A Devoted Group of FILM LOVERS Pulled Together to SAVE & RENOVATE an OLD MOVIE HOUSE from the EARLY Part of the 20th Century. The THEATRE went thru 3 DIFFERENT RENOVATIONS until the LATEST Design was FINSHED Last Year. The CLASSIC THEATRE is Now known as the "OAKS THEATRE" & besides CLASSIC Films, MUSIC Groups, Female & Male Singers, Stage Plays, BOTH Local & National Acts are PERFORMING There LIVE & Sometimes Via A LIVE Circuit Feed from Somewhere in EUROPE. In EDINBORO, PA there was a really GREAT SMALL TOWN "MOVIE THEATRE". My Family & I would go Camping at a Campground on "EDINBORO LAKE" & My Dad would drive me up to the THEATRE to see whatever MOVIE that was on the Bill. I saw ALFRED HITCHCOCK'S "TOPAZ", John Wayne in "RIO LOBO", Robert Blake in "TELL THEM WILLIE BOY IS HERE" & A Super "GODZILLA Double Feature" at the "EDINBORO THEATRE". In My NEIGHBORHOOD "Movie House" on LIBERTY AVENUE in BLOOMFIELD, My CHURCH Owned that Building & for a few Years they decided to OPEN the Theatre & they showed "CLASSIC OLD MOVIES" like "BATTLE OF THE BULGE", "THE GUNS OF NAVARONE", "THE FLY", "THE GHOST & MR. CHICKEN", & A Series of "ABBOTT & COSTELLO COMEDIES". But, w/ A CLASSIC OLD MOVIE THEATRE like the "GUTHRIE THEATRE" in GROVE CITY, PA, "MOVIEGOERS" are Very, Very LUCKY. The THEATRE MARQUEE is an Updated 1 from the 1950-1960's & the ATMOSPHERE makes you feel like that you're in a CLASSIC ERA. The CLASSIC Glass Outdoor "Movie Poster" Encasements, The Outdoor Lobby & Box Office puts you in a Timeframe of ANOTHER TIME. The "GUTHRIE THEATRE" is a SPECIAL PART of a PAST that MOST MOVIEGOERS Wouldn't mind GOING THRU AGAIN.

Lisa Pritchard

LOVE the Guthrie. We're so lucky to have a first-run theatre in our downtown. The Thomas' work so hard and are so community-minded. My husband and I go to the movie for $20, including popcorn!

Howard Byer

A fun step back in time..Clean and reasonably priced...Bring cash or use the ATM in the Lobby. They don't take credit cards.

Olivia Eperthener

Was still under work so well be back to see the finished thing

Andrew Acker

I have been there numerous times. We would always venture down from the campus for a movie.

Tim Roberts

Would be perfect if there wasn't a slight discolored spot on the bottom left corner of the screen.

Robert Pemrich

I just love a small town movie theater. This theater has been here a very long time and it is a great family establishment.

Sebastian Means

Always comfortable. The products sold are decent prices. If you withdraw money from the atm you get a free popcorn which can be up sized for a little more money. The tickets are also a decent price as well. Would definitely recommend.

Andy Hessler

We're blessed to have a quaint locally run cinema theater here in Grove City. We've always had a good experience here. Their prices are slightly less than some other theaters within driving distance. And...if you're from the area...you'll probably run into someone you know. It's kept clean and well maintained...and provides for a great viewing experience.

James Ray

Cute and quaint little theater. If they had actually turned on the heat in the winter. Watched star wars with my son and friends, we all shivered thru the entire movie.

Jason Texter

Great location and price

Dominic Nave

The Guthrie theater is one of the best parts of Grove City! The atmosphere is really neat, since the place is mostly the same as when it was first open some time a fairly long time ago (I don't know the actual year, but it was back when people knew how to build cool movie theaters) There is one screen in the Guthrie, and it is equipped with a Sony 4K projector if I remember correctly. Admission to the movies is very reasonable at around seven bucks for an adult. If you are in the area, definitely visit our cinema!

Angie Walsh

Wonderful old theatre but great people

Chloe Dunn

Movies are sometimes behind on popularity and food is a little expensive, small bathrooms, overall a great place

Dave H

A nice theatre and I'm glad to see it coming back. They do, however, need to communicate movie times better, or update website on cancellations. I showed up for a 10:30 showing and they looked at me like I was strange for coming to see a movie then, even though that was the list time. Hopefully it was just an isolated event.

Sir William

Wonderful family owned theater.

Andrew Berwyn

An old school theatre recently renovated and opened in time for what is likely to be one of the most important movies of the year, Avengers End Game, the Guthrie is quaint and classic although lacking in some modem comforts. The seats are not comfortable to sit in for long periods and the bathroom is small. But at the end of the day it's a theatre, and it performed that function admirably. Please get new seats though.

Joseph Ethan

Decent price for a movie. However, the colors on the screen are quite distorted and the brightness settings on the projector are terrible. Everything on the screen has a dull, green tint. Overall, would recommend as it's the best option in town.

Jonathan McDonald

Great piece of history in Olde Town Grove City!

Ronna Gralitzer

Very nice

Robert Williams

I was a part of the very first live concert. The Guthrie Theatre, was first built in 1929 for burlesque shows ,then it became a movie house. Tonight was the first time ever, a live Christian band performed. It was AWESOME.

Jess Nakoski

This is a beautiful old fashioned theater with a balcony and one screen. The people at the front (possibly the owner and his daughter?) were very sweet and friendly. They only take cash, but the price is so much more reasonable than other multiplex theatres.

Mike Hedglin

Great deal for the money very affordable.

mark adams

Clean and comfortable..show started on time. Well mannered patrons

Nathaniel martin outdoors

Cool old theater bug a little expensive

Tristan Stewart

Great home town theater! Very classic style with modern projectors.

Koneko Nyan

Wonderfully rennovated classic movie theatre

Thomas Jay Benjamin

Update: Just saw Frozen here. They got a Sony Digital Cinema 4K projector and the picture is great! The theater was a bit cold though. Really enjoyed seeing Iron Man 3 here. Great prices and the older seats were still comfortable.

Sonya Blatt

Great place !!! Super excited they are open again. Prices are reasonable for movie tickets and the concession stand. Being an old historical building adds a great experience .

Ryan Boshaw

Recently updated(more plans for remodeling still in process) new owner

Lucas Figley

Very cool old theatre. Prices are reasonable.

James Buchanan

Vintage movie theater with extremely good prices. Highly recommend for an awesome family experience. Very good popcorn too

Deborah Schuster

Was not prepared for opening night. Concessions REALLY SLOW!!! Lobby still full of movie goers when movie started. Appwared to have Oversold seats for opener. People standing in the back. Seriously need to replace the "historical" seats in the main theatre...really uncomfortable, especially for a 3 hour movie. All this being said, it is appreciated that the owner re-opened the theater. The locals really appreciate it...just PLEASE fix things...especially concession efficiency and seating comfort. Thank you.

Miranda Toth

I thought it looked great, very clean and very helpful nice staff. Definitely, will go back.

Jamie Isenberg

Great small town theater! Clean and affordable.

Chris White

The new projector and sound upgrades are fantastic!

B cuz We're crazy

I used to come here all the time... until I checked the website and it gave me no information of what movies were showing. I was going to have a party for my son but there we no times for when the movie was going to show. Please fix the website and the phone number service

will sampson

They have done an awesome job refurbishing the Guthrie Theater

Jodi Wacik

Very cool place!!

hart bryan

Helped renovated for opening day in 2019 IMAX seats the new stage is being put in for live entertainment and newest in latest movies they will be having there for a very reasonable price. Was there opening day and sold out in 20 minutes and rescheduled for more viewings that weekend that did wonderfully well

robert pebbles

Always a good time and relaxing

Luke Greenway

Good picture, but screen was dirty, sound wasn't great and seats aren't super comfy. Still has a really unique experience and cool atmosphere.

Aron Crowell

Nice old movie house. If you like this type of venue it's for you. Don't expect state of the art seats or IMAX.

Katherine Ulisky

The Guthrie has been a wonderful place to make memories and watch movies. You wont find the feeling you get here at a large movie chain. I am so pleased they have found a way to re-open and bring new life to our little town. Looking forward to many new memories for our daughters to share.

Simon B

Its ok, but nothing compared to the more modern cinemas.

M J

Glad it is open again!

Jonathan DiBenedetto

Good for a classic old school theater. If you are expecting the latest and greatest you'll be disappointed but the vintage feel is pretty cool. Bring cash since they don't take card.

Joe Jenkins

Good old fashioned small town theater. These are rapidly disappearing from american culture. Well worth supporting.

Cindy Jones

Wonderful !!wish you the best..the town needs you !!

shane conley

Always loved this place

AMBER SCHOENER

It's a cute old little theatre, but bring cash. They have an ATM inside, but it doesn't always work.

Bruce F

Great local movie theatre.

Jeremy Bost

Wish they had broader selection, but otherwise good

Frank Bruno

We went during the Sensory night; we loved the fact that the lights were dimmed and not entirely off; we also loved the volume of the movie. I think the movie sound is way too loud in the first place for adults, and this night, my kids were able to watch and enjoy. I look forward to going to an adult movie night.

Franco Lapa

Great picture and sound. I love the old theater atmosphere

Bobbi Burkett

It's a cute little theatre with an old time feel.

Cameron Chase

Don't like the seats how they are

s rodgers

We have gone there for our dates sense we were kids. Love the atmosphere. Inexpensive and gives you that 1920 movie night feel

Kevin Kunzen

Great to have a theater in town. Though it's only 1 screen, they show all of the movies I ever care to see! Love the home-town, old school theater feel of the place.

maryjane angelo

I love this hometown theater and the restoration is awesome! Love the chandeliers!

freedom JOE Murica

It's not Open.

Bob Greene

Great atmosphere! Always a great time!

Bryan Mellott

Cash only.

Andrew Dahl

Good home town feel

Katie Miller

Home town feel. Better prices.

Jon Webster

If I could give these zero stars, I would. The projection is horrible. So dark and blurry you can hardly make out anyone's face on screen. There was a terrible green tint to the screen. Honestly, make your way to Pittsburgh to go to the movies around here.

Un Zonked

It's an historic theater but a tad run down.

Ron STETT

Nice family atmosphere

Grant Dieter

It's great to experience how movies used to be shown. I wish that they would occasionally play old movies there to really get the feel.

J Gore88

The Guthrie is a beautiful theatre that looks right out of the early 1900s. You don’t see many theaters like it anymore and the service is wonderful. I highly recommend the Guthrie theatre
