Love this place, great cinema!
Great old time, community movie theater that has been restored.
If you want the awesome, old fashioned, great experience of seeing movies- this is it! Best movies, 9/10 not Hollywood. “Cannot do better”- sayeth the snooty New Yorker which has the best Indie film venues ever:)
I’m a member and love the small theater venue. Very interesting movies not Usually seen at big box theaters.
Wonderful old time theater with very pleasant and helpful staff!
I grew up in Ambler, but now live in Seattle. I have very fond memories of the Ambler Theater. I spent many Saturday afternoons there, paying 35 cents for the weekly Three Stooges, Mothra, Gorgo or other B grade Sci Fi fair. It was in bad shape then and eventually was purchased by a Christian group that showed...well, they showed Christian films. By that time, with infrastructure failing, it looked bad for the theater's future. The Theater is now a restored gem, though the main house has been sub-divided into three theaters...necessary, I suppose for keeping the wolves away, but considering the beauty of the original interior, a shame. I tip my hat to the new owners for creating a wonderful civic institution. -Jim
Great to see the 3 Stooges Film Festival!
Great theater. Good for the community, too.
Wonderful historical theater. The seats were comfortable and the movie was good. Overall, great place!
Very good theater.
Classy place with interesting selection of programming. Memberships available. Helpful staff.
Ambler Theater is the best for everyone who loves movies.
I love this quaint theatre in Ambler. The facility is beautiful, and they offer films that I adore but wouldn't have seen otherwise! Thank you, Ambler theatre!
Love the ambler theater. So happy it's been preserved. We have been members for many years.
Good prices and good service. The theater has that old school flare, I love it!
Cute old theater in quaint town.
Lovely!! A must visit!
A wonderful, old-school movie theater, the main theater auditorium is gorgeous. The staff are all great, they put on lots of wonderful events, and they play the kinds of movies you'll never get a chance to see outside of your local arthouse theaters.
Nice, quaint theater. I especially liked the decor as well as the 3 min warning on the screen before the movie started that was from the 50s maybe? Pretty cool!
A beautifully maintained older theater that distinguishes itself by running more independent movie fare on its screens. Don't go here for the latest blockbuster release, but you will find most of the movies are critically acclaimed. If you really enjoy movies then there's no reason not to have this theater in the rotation if you live in the area.
This is the place to go for date night. The staff are friendly and professional. The seats are comfortable. The popcorn was delicious. The movie was excellent.
I love the theater and the location!
Not many theaters like this one left. New or classic, it's a lovely place to see a movie.
Great movies at a great price!
Nice movie theater. Will visit again.
My favorite place to see a movie. Beautiful building, friendly staff, and a fantastic selection of movies.
Wonderful restored old theater which screens movies that nobody else does. Whether it's black and white classics during their Hollywood Summer Nights series or obscure art house films, there are so many films that deserve to be seen on the screen size they were made for, and the Ambler Theater is the place to go! I grew up coming here, and am so impressed by the reconstruction they've done of the building. It's lovely.
So much better than a multiplex! A throwback to the time of the neighborhood theater. A gem. Lots of period photos and projection equipment from the past. Clean!!! And also screening films that are hard to come by in the chain theaters.
Nice little theater, saw a recording of a live play from the UK.
Wonderful! Saw an inspiring movie: Woman at War....think I'll join the theater to support this kind of film showing.
Great classic movie theater lobby interior, with more modern comfortable seating in the theater itself. Great prices on the concessions, and friendly staff.
Nice and Deco..good selection of Art House and buzzworthy films
My favorite movie theater! Clean quiet and the help are extremely nice.
Lovely experience! The theatre was nostalgic, clean, quiet and very comfortable. Popcorn was crispy fresh! Staff could have been a little quicker with service, but I really enjoyed everything else.
Historical feel - wonderful setting to enjoy cinema. Both great modern digital projection as well as gorgeous ornate style theatre. Must go!
Had a good experience at a completely renovated Historical building. Staff is very friendly.
Been going here since it was restored to its original Art Deco glory...anout 10-15 years ago. 3 theaters-in-one (3 different sizes). A lot of 4 **** films per 3 state of art digital projectors. Good snack bar; clean bathrooms.
This cooperative-owned, non-profit theater is exceptional in that you can walk in to any film they may be showing, and you'll see a quality production. The staff and the viewing conditions are excellent. And the prices of tickets and concession items are reasonable .
Movie deal for kids was super! Concessions are unique and affordable. Staff is friendly.
It's always nice to see a movie in a classic theatre.
I love the Ambler theater. Need I say more?
Old historuc theater playing less mainstream blockbusters (more independent or smaller but excellent films) kind of like The Ritz without having to schlep to the city. It's a smaller theater w maybe 3 screens and a quaint historical feel. Large metered lot nearby for cheap parking and plenty of restaurants immediately in the area add to the appeal.
I love that they play classics in the shmmer! Adorable theater and always a good time
Never again! Racist! My daughter and I arrived at the theater and the young lady would not allow me to purchase one more ticket after driving 45 minutes away to experience this theater with my daughter and one of her classmates. Not only did she not want us to purchase one more ticket so that I could participate in the experience, she continuously tried to talk us into getting a refund for the two purchased tickets after we told her we had come a long way. She stood right next to us waiting to see if we would exit. SMH. ....and the best part, there were at least 4 empty seats that were seen immediately. Not sure how many more were empty. Such a shame.
An attractive older theater.
Great venue. Interesting selection of movies. Not just the ones you see playing everywhere.
Wonderful, small town feel. Non profit with current movies, classics, special events and more. Remodeled with high back seats in stadium seating. Very clean and nice staff!
First time there reminds me of the movie theaters of my youth. I really enjoyed going there. I will definitively go back.
Just a perfect throwback. I live in Ambler and this is one of the many local businesses I happily throw money at! If a film is playing here that you want to see, see it here, you will not regret it!
Beautiful theater!
The best place to see classics and regular cinema. Love that I can drink a cup of tea and watch a movie.
An amazing Art House theater with plenty of events and a great community surrounding it! Membership is available for reduced ticket pricing, free events, and be sure to pick up their newsletter to stay posted on special showings and lectures! Also, Ambler partners with local business on occasion. Was pretty awesome to see Blade Runner: the Final Cut and drink free beer! All you gotta do is check their listings for fun stuff like that!
Beautiful old theatre showing first rate movies.
Wonderful renovated local theater showing current films.
My favorite place for movies. Great selection, not your average bobble head flicks! Wonderful staff.
Great theater for movies. Smaller viewing halls. Cheap popcorn and such. Prepare yourself to be among the 65+ set.
This historic building has been restored to its original beauty and has truly wonderful films that cannot be found at the mega theaters. It is always clean and well maintained and they do not take advantage of you at the concession stand. Membership is well worth it for the savings and special events. We have been members since the nigh they opened
Great movies at a very good price. Well kept beautifully restored theater.
Love the classic movies playing throughout the summer!
I love this theater. Makes me feel like I am stepping back in time.
This place is a treasure, friendly staff, exceptional choice in showings, and cheap to boot.
For those who love independent movies this is one of the better places in eastern Pennsylvania to go. In addition to the fact that it's a comfortable theater with digital technology, the parking is good and ambler has several good eateries.
I love this place. It has an old school vibe and everyone is super friendly. The Little Lebowski Nite was great.
Great theaters with excellent projection and sound. Good mix of mainstream-ish and more art house films. Definitely a great spot to catch a movie compared to big chains.
Lovely people comfortable seating great sound & only the best movies!
We love the ambler theater! The people are very friendly, the space is clean and beautiful, and It's walking distance from a bunch of restaurants. Because they only have two theaters they don't always have what we're hoping to see, but they do a lot of other cool screenings and events
Ambler Theater is the funniest place to go to see a movie in Montgomery County!
Clean. Friendly staff. Peaceful & quiet.
Great play. Intimate venue
I love this theater! It gets a good selection of movies, and it's pretty inexpensive. The concession stand is the best, you can't find prices like that at any other theater in the area.
The RITZ in the suburbs! The Ambler Theatre is terrific on all counts. Great vintage ambiance, wonderful prices, annual memberships, and film fare that is artistic and rewarding. After the movie, go to a wonderful Ambler restaurant. Can;t be beat!
Wonderful movie theater showing quality films, serving interesting beverages and snacks. A community treasure. Soon to be joined by the Amber Co-op.
Beautiful venue!
Very unique theater. One of a kind. Even though the theater is old the seats are comfortable..
One of the best theaters in the area! It's like taking a trip back in time to how theaters used to be. Gorgeous architectural details. I love how they show old movies from the 30s, 40s. Saw the Philadelphia Story last night, featuring Katherine Hepburn and Cary Grant. It was out of this world! ☺
This theater really honors Ambler’s heritage and always has really cool films playing
It's charming old theater with charming staff. Great selection of movies - old and new.
The only place I'll visit for films. They always show the best available movies.
My family and I love this place!
Great local theater excellent movies
Love this theatre! My first choice for seeing a movie!
Cool old theater. No beer or cocktails just good movies. Sometimes old movies like Casablanca.
A great movie theater that my wife and I belong to. We go there as often as we can.
The crown jewel of independent cinema in philly is suburbs.
Nice, old fashioned Theater. Very clean, and all employees smile when you walk in. The whole experience, and the quaintness of the town, made my wife very comfortable.
Terrific
Charming theater with current movies and lots of cool special events. Located in walkable wonderful Ambler, PA.
This is a great place for birthday parties!
I just saw the movie Dina and Scott. This was one of the best movies I have ever seen. The honesty and love displayed by this couple is heart warming.
Great old theater. Refreshment stand prices are even reasonable. A gem.
Comfortable, classy and friendly place to see the very best movies!!
Fantastic place
Excellent place to watch a movie.
Great place to see a movie especially old or small budget ones. Plenty of nice restaurant in the area
I am a member because I want to support this wonderful theater. Projection is always excellent. Small town feel. Great staff. Inexpensive concessions. The BEST!
Small intimate setting.
Fantastic! Knowledgeable staff, a great historic setting, with actual antique projectors on display. They also do limited screenings as well as Q and A sessions. Concessions are both available and affordable. Give it a try!
I love the Ambler Theater but every time I try to purchase tickets on the web site I get an error message. I have tried two different credit cards several times. This has happened twice in the past month.
This is one of the best places to visit in Ambler! Not just any theatre. It is history. Enjoy the beautiful architecture and authentic renovation. Typically you have three movie choices, but watch for special events! Just attended a fundraiser, Luna Fest, which raised money for Chestnut Hill Hospital's Women's Center and providing testing and treatment for women without insurance or living in poverty. We watched several short films created and directed by women. Ambler Theatre is non profit and counts on membership and donations. Films are mostly artsy, independent and international. Also, summer is coming...watch for special events or children's matinees. Love this theatre...highly recommend!
How can anyone not love the Ambler Theater? The prices are better than the big chains and there is such a great atmosphere in the building. They play great artistic movies also, not just the block buster standard movies at the big theaters. The have a great membership program for a yearly fee (50 bucks per person or less) and tickets are 6 bucks per members, with free events sometimes. If you are going to the movies 8 times a year or more, it is worth it! Concessions are a good price and they have hot tea and fancier chocolates, too!
We spend every summer watching the old movies (Hollywood Summer Nights). My children and I make this a family event for us. We don't watch the newer movies. The staff are nice. Parking in Ambler can be difficult.
Great local historic theater.
Good old fashioned movie theater
Great local theater with comfortable seats and reasonably priced concessions
Quaint spot to catch a show
Very cool place, like using a time machine
Beautiful theater. Always playing high quality films. Awesome community events.
Wonderful experience. It was my second movie this week. We love the place.
Great theater, renovated nicely and just a little modernized. Like it much better than the theater chains.
For folk in suburbs., We have our ' Ritz' theater right here. They show 1st rate flms. Only problem, very popular weekend movie nights ( go early ). Also someone stole umbrella from under my seat. !
Always outstanding
Great independent not for profit theater. Regular special events and a nice old school aesthetic.
there is a children's orchestra that comes once a year you need to keep an eye on him on the counter is absolutely fantastic for children the conductor tells of what each instrument does and then at the end of the show he takes five children to be a conductor. The children love it. keep on your keep an eye on your calendar in ambler because they have great things for children. And great movies at the ambler theater also.
Small clean and quiet theater close to many restaurants. They accept moviepass too!
Lovely intimate place to see some films
Great little local theater. We try to go at least once a month. Excellent sodas!
Awesome theater Best place to watch the Oscars
Good movie selections in a nice theater
Great movie theater
Beautiful old theatre. Loved it!
Great screen and sound. Comfortable seats. Relaxed staff. My favorite place to see a movie.
The ambiance and seating are great. The variety of art house mobies as well as classics make it a nice divergence from your usual movie chain. Terrific staff and a feeling of community add to the experience.
Great selection of films. Upgraded seating to match new digital projection. A joy to visit.
Great place to see a band... The sound was great, the view fantastic and the food was great too. The A's put on on an Awesome show. Thanks guys. I haven't been there since it was the 23 East (I think!) but I'll be back.
Pleasant, small, and cozy. Great place to watch a movie.
First Man was a very good movie!
Love this place. Always good films. Comfortable seats. Audience is always quiet.
Local gem, art house theater, quaint, great selection of films.
A wonderful local theater that shows mostly academy award worthy movies. They also hold special movie events.
Grand old theatre, always enjoy seeing a movie here
Classic theatre, loved the local history and memorabilia. Located in the heart of Ambler, it's a great addition to a friendly outing or date night.
Great atmosphere and friendly staff!
Good old fashion theater
Friendly Staff and a fine selection of movies, first run, documentary, and archived.
Great acting in the "wife", the movie was predictable
Non-profit theater has many offerings! I thoroughly enjoyed the ambiance watching as big screen movie in a small town. Great service at every step of the way. Clean too!
A comfortable and clean theater with friendly anf professional staff.
Our favorite theater, so cozy, so nice
Loved this place. Highly recommend. Very very unique. Theater has been open since the 20s and it’s been redone but a lot of the old stuff has been kept.
Will always love movie watching here.
What a gem of a theater in the heart of Ambler. Inside, it oozes old, movie house charm. It's been beautifully preserved-from the ticket window to the lobby. Attendants are so friendly! Concession prices are reasonable and the theater seats are comfy. Parking can be tricky, but meters stop at 6pm. I highly recommend the movie experience at Ambler Theater.
Great old place to see movies. Just the way it was when I was a kid
Have been going here since it opened 2002. The films are always intellectually stimulating, entertaining and no teenagers. A venue for thoughtful people.
Lovely old time theater with good movies
Beautiful renovated old movie theater with lots of character
Great price and movies
