I love this place! In my eyes it’s kinda eccentric, great art work, and the outside area is almost a secret garden feel to it. Wheelchair access yes for the pub area, don’t remember about the theater though. Cozy place to watch a movie and grab a bite to eat, and a full bar to boot. DEFINITELY KID FRIENDLY❣️

I WILL NEVER EAT HERE AGAIN!!! I can't believe this place they got my order wrong even after repeatedly telling them what I didn't want and they got my dates order wrong as the waiter was taking away my dates tray he dropped the burger on the seat, our food was back to us in minutes and my dates burger was the SAME dropped squished burger that landed on the dirty booth they didn't even bother to replace the bun to cover it up, it had the same knife makes from when they brought it out the first time. If a place is willing to do this and not even try to cover it up you HAVE to question how clean the kitchen is!! The movie theater is awesome and we will definitely return for that. BEWARE!!

I really enjoyed having a drink and lunch here. Very unique place that kind of reminds me of Vesuvio in San Francisco. I just wished that they had mint to make their refreshing house cocktail and it would have been a perfect experience!

It's McMenamins. If you like eclectic decor, and unique architecture for a pub/restaurant/theater, and you're in St. Johns you wanna eat here. I like the second level seating in the restaurant a lot, but all that distinguishes this location from other McMenamins is the neighborhood of St. John's. This is no Kennedy School McMenamins.

What a place! I met here with a friend and associate from a non-profit I work with, and was constantly distracted by all the cool trinkets and tchotchkes. Yup. A true McMenamin's experience. And while the setting is amazing, it's having the McMenamin's food and brews in a McMenamin's pub that really makes the whole experience. Always interesting, never overly assuming (unless being so is entertaining), and always a great place to meet up with family and friends - or a nice, yet inexpensive date night. Next time, I'll have to go into the theater and see a movie.

Beautiful patio and decent beer (standard McMenamin’s beer). The food however is pretty subpar when compared to other brewpubs in Portland. All of our food was just okay and definitely not worth the price - about 4 or 5 dollars higher than what it should have been compared to other brewpubs in terms of portion and quality.

Love this pub! Particularly the cozy shady outdoor seating. They have the soft pretzels and beer cheese fondue I love as well. Get the half order of fries, with the beer cheese dip. Insanely good!

If the weather is nice, always sit in their outdoor seating area. Chill vibes, plenty of shade towards the end of the day. I opted for the veggie burger and my friend for the regular beef burger . I was very surprised on the flavor they pack into it, small for the price . The flights are worth it! So many great beers !

Great for just about anything you're looking for. Food entertainment recreation and it can all be found here. Happy hour is always a good deal. if you're coming for a movie make sure to show up plenty early as they often sell out. why would I go to an overprice theater when I can come here and spend a few dollars sit on a comfy couch with a good beer and a plate of good food. Definitely worth waiting a little while for the movies to show up.

One of the nicest theater experiences I've ever had at a McMenamins. Happy hour is amazing food fresh delicious and affordable. Highly recommend happy hour in a movie can't go wrong at this McMenamins. If you love Cesar salad it's always a hit they do a great job.

Decent, especially for a McMenamins, which for me are super hit and miss. Bartender was ok, not very attentive, but we got our order, and it was correct. Food was good, and came out hot. Burger was cooked nicely and the gyro was tasty. Drop in for some good food and good atmosphere.

Not a bad place for some food and brew. Like any other McMenamins, there is a decent selection of beer and food. The AC was on the fritz, so it was a little hot but they may have it fixed by now. I didn't get a chance to view a movie, but I'll definitely go back to get the full experience.

So in love with this place. Corner bar with amazing features. Make sure to see a movie at least once in this bar, you will not regret it. Call for movie times in advance, sometimes the website isn't correct. Staff is awesome. Food is killer.

Good service saw Spiderman here and i had a good time coming here to when I want to stray away from the more modern Cinemas and do something a little more traditional. You can show up early and hang around the fire or bar while you wait for your movie.

The movie was great and so was the theater, but the service was off. I wanted popcorn to go along with the movie (as many movie goers do) but they ran out with the customer just ahead of me. I assumed they would make another batch - I was wrong. When I asked for popcorn the waiter sarcastically said he would make another batch " ...just for me" so I got the hint and ordered my beer and some chip and dip instead. If I go back, I'll sneak just pack in my own snacks in next time - l'm just saying.

It's a cozy, little cute spot with an eclectic scenery. There's a lot to look at and the food is pretty good. I like the set up and there's something for everyone. You can sit downstairs at a regular table or booth.. or you can go upstairs and sit on a couch. They even have a little movie theater where you can also dine as well. Will definitely check it out again. The only reason they dont get 5 stars from me is because the service was a little slow and they couldn't make my eggs scrambled on my burger instead of sunny side up. Sorry I'm picky and I like what I like but other than that they're great.

Cool old church with large outdoor space. Great local brunch spot. Signature drinks/beer/whine ... + odd/unique decor, and cheap movies... make for an Awesome local hangout. Ask them about their passports too... you can get stamps for visiting all of the McMenamins.

I enjoy going to the movies here. Since you can eat drink and watch a movie. They are reserved seating so make sure you call or order your seats ahead of time so you can get good seats. You order the food and they deliver it to your seat where you can enjoy the movie. The food is great. As always McMenamins has slow service. I did get lucky this time but it was also 10 a.m. their burgers are always nice and thick the fries you can also get salt and garlic. they always have a selection about 10 McMenamins beers. Ruby is always a great starter beer nice and Light. There is parking on the side of the building. If you do park on the street keep an eye on time limit. Cleanliness is great here the chairs were we sat on weren't too bad the tables in front of us weren't too bad. Popcorn is also available for your convenience. Kids are allowed here in certain movie times you would have to go to the website to check which ones are available. This place just get really busy for certain movie so be patient the line for food and popcorn can get long. If you have to sit all the way in the back is not a very good spot you can get a little small but it's also worth the experience since the theaters in a sort of Dome Style in the screen is good enough size I'm finished. I enjoy the you can get your own water on the side right next to the napkins catch up while you are watching the movie. Try a Rubynator next time so good.

This is a very typical McMenamins menu. I am not a beer drinker and they do not carry Coke products. Hard for me to order a beverage. The food was fine nothing special Waitress was very good. Space was cold and dark.

McMenamins is another one of those types of chains that you wont' find outside of the PNW. If you weather is nice(summer or fall) then I suggest you sit out in the outside seating. You won't see if easily from the street as others have pointed out but it's a real treat. Especially at night. If you dine inside the sheer number of light fixtures in there will blow your mind. Another quirky aspect of eating inside is if there is a movie playing next door dont' be surprised if you hear a rumble from cinematic explosions!!!

Food and service were fine, environmental controls an issue. It was a hot day and the air conditioning wasn't working very well. When we mentioned it to our server and suggested fans, he told us the management wasn't willing to bring fans in because it wouldn't go with the decor.

We love coming here for family movie dates. The theater is smaller and less intimidating for the kids while still giving us the full theater experience. Not to mention kids meals (a beer for dad) and an awesome staff! The history of the building is really unique too and I suggest reading about it on the website before you go so you can appreciate the history of the building while you are there. And if the movie thing isn’t for you, enjoy a pint in their garden by the fire pits.

A great comfy place to have lunch and chit chat with friends. The inside decoration is full of things to search for and find. The brews are cold and the menu offers a lot of variation. Staff is friendly and polite and it's just a worthwhile place to visit.

Edit from October 2018: Don’t sit in the very back row, the seats that are in sections of 5. No table for food. The theater provides trays that fit in your cup holder but they get knocked over easily. People constantly walk in front of you to get to the other side of the theater, through the entire movie. It is also right in front of the restaurants ice maker. That means staff come and refill buckets of ice during the movie right behind your chair. Very odd and distracting if you’re watching a quiet movie. As stated before the theater is clean, the women’s restroom however, smells so strongly of urine it’s shocking. The food was all very good. Previous review: I adore this cinema! I would recommend sitting nearer the back as the screen is fairly close and you have to look up if you’re near the front. Food and drinks delivered right to your seat. The theater is clean.

We live close by so we've gone regularly though not often because the service has always been pretty bad. Now they seemvm to have a couple of pretty good waitresses who actually deserve a tip. The food is very standard pub food. Tonight my hamburger was totally overcooked. My husband likes going there to watch baseball and they usually accept to change the channel for him. That's one positive. He forgot his debit card there and called to check if they had it, they did. But when he wet to retrieve it it took them over half an hour to find it! And they looked at him like he was crazy for asking and for making them looking for it. I think they are lucky to be one of the few options in St Johns or nobody would go there. My opinion of course. Don't expect a smile, they're too cool for that.

Once again, surprised and impressed!! Surprised by a Yule time double IPA that should win awards, and impressed by our server, Pontius, who was attentive and friendly. We have two toddlers and he went above and beyond to accommodate our requests quickly!! Plus the food came out REALLY fast (not so at all McM's) and was delicious. Thanks St John's (and Pontius!!), well worth the drive and another page done in our passports
