We've got the opinions of real people like you who purchased the products of Darkside Cinema (Movie Theater) in the area close to the state of Oregon.
To this day this business gets a score of 4.7 over 5 and this score has been calculated on 177 reviews.
As you can read, the average score it has is nearly the top, and it's founded on a very high number of feddbacks, so we can say that the assessment is very reliable. If people have bothered to leave their opinion when they are pleased, it works.
You know that we do not usually stop to set tatings when they are correct and we usually do it only if we've had a problem or incidence...
This Movie Theater belongs to the category of Movie theater.
Had free water to enjoy before movie
Mostly independent films with great service.
Darkside is the best! I love small independent cinemas, and Darkside always has great movies you can't find anywhere else in the area - especially those movies that are critical darlings that regular blockbuster film fans don't like as much....those ones are the good ones
This is a small independent theater that has a lot of personal touches. The line-up is usually films you wouldn't see in corporate theaters. You can drink your beer and watch an arthouse flick.
A great place to see movies. Come to the dark side!
I like the smaller Cinema experience. It's clean affordable and friendly. Shows different stuff than the mainstream Cinema and lets you get water for free. Popcorn is not as good as it could be, otherwise would be five stars.
Very friendly staff and lots of neat decorations inside... Great attention to detail
It's old but tickets price is cheaper and everything is cheaper than other cinemas. Not very much commercial.
Bring your own container for $2 popcorn! Also free water and decently priced snacks and drinks. Great theater to see non-blockbuster films and documentaries.
Wonderful intimate theatre. Great prices great movies wonderful seats
We love Darkside! Best movies in town, great environment, staff are witty and wonderful to chit chat with, also they have an awesome drink selection! A unique setting for people who are looking for something a little different from the norm.
Dope
Presents great films in a cosy and friendly environment. One of the best cinemas I have been to.
Nice cute theater. Reasonably priced concessions
Cute theater, more reasonable prices than the other theaters. If you're in to indie films, this is the place to go in Corvallis. They also have cool events from time to time, like an international film festival, where there's free entry to a different foreign film every night for a week. Also, they have a TARDIS at the top of the stairs.
Quirky, fun Indy film theater.
A great little theatre with a great movie selection. They have cool little quarks like serving tea in a mug and non traditional movie snacks like personal pizzas. The Darkside is one of the many little gems that makes Corvallis so cool.
Old school pretty cool. Just seats are a bit worn-out
Good place to watch great movies. Independent films are often shown here. Several screens at this venue. Home of OSU film festival and others. Avant garde atmosphere. Refills of popcorn. Bring your own container for a discount. A Corvallis GEM !
Always a pleasure
Darkside is my favorite place to see movies in Corvallis. Cheap tickets, intimate theatres and friendly staff. Support your local theatre!
Wasn't my favorite area, old and dusty the only movies they play are adult.
Great place to see GOOD movies.
So many good movie options, friendly staff, clean and comfortable. Prices are reasonable. My only complaint is the bathroom (ladies). There are stalls out of order that have been that way for months or years. But overall this is our go to theater.
Corvallis's only independent cinema. They bring a great selection of movies to town every week.
Good indie cinema. Great concessions and sound and picture quality very good.
Quirky little theater showing independent films. Not high tech, but we love the place.
Fun place. BYO popcorn container for a really good deal.
Great service, clean, green, great prices & shows indie/ thought provoking movies not shown on big screen complexes.
Great movies & atmosphere
Fun little theater
This small independent movie house is great! There got 4 cinemas and provide an interesting Cinema experience
Darkside is a small, "cozy" theater, located on the second floor of a building in downtown Corvallis (elevator is available for people with disabilities). It shows B movies & documentaries that larger theaters reject out of hand. The staff is friendly and there is a variety of yummy snacks available. Highly recommended.
Quaint place
I saw Call Me by Your Name at this cinema a few weeks ago, and the experience was absolutely incredible. The movie selection seems to primarily be movies you wouldn't see in more mainstream theaters around town, leaving you with this sense of discovering secret gems when you view movies here. The, for lack of a better term, 'vibes' of this place are absolutely incredible as well. The only problem I could see people having with this cinema is the small viewing room sizes. However, I personally enjoyed this, making the experience even better. If you're considering visiting this location, I urge you to do so!
Fantastic, unique little theater.
Always worth watching a flick at!
The movie going experience isn't what it used to be. It's better at the Darkside. Intimate, reasonably priced, comfy & completely out of the ordinary. The popcorn is the best in town and oh hey, basic human need that doesn't cost $4-6, they even provide water...free! If you're in a wheel chair or can't do stairs, call and ask about accessibility...I'm sure they have it covered, it's just not obvious to the "able" eye.
Every town should have a place like this
Always has a selection of eclectic or well-reviewed independent films. Staff is laid back and fun to talk to.
What a wonderful place....fabulous old building very friendly staff and a very good choice of films. It’s a bit of a drive for me but it’s my new favorite place and I will go back. A really good first impression.
Funky, cinematic vibe and that's just the stairwell. Great place to catch films not shown elsewhere. Parking may be an issue but a stroll through downtown is fine. Kudos for providing a venue and community
Friendly staff and interesting films.
The Pix Theatre has this place beat tenfold on snacks and drinks, but Darkside has three screens and they're always rotating in new and interesting films.
Small theater with movies that might not be seen in the larger venues. Pleasant personal.
Fun, laid back atmosphere, kind of like hanging out at a friend's house. You can buy drinks and snacks for very reasonable prices. Small, intimate theaters. Interesting selection of movies. This is not your big box office commercial theater. It's got a total Oregon vibe.
Doesn't get any better than this for a small theater experience .... much more intimate in a small crowd seating to take in the film's meaning and plot line impact .... haven't been and won't go to a big box movie complex .... AND they have an awesome selection to choose from every week .... if you haven't been there you must go ... it is a hidden gem of Corvallis and the best movie experience you can have ....
Charming theater, reasonable prices, and (usually) great selection of indie films and documentaries.
great cinema and popcorn
Great price. Discounts for OSU students. Always showing the caliber of films that I like and care to see. Great location. Love this place.
Quaint, clean
New films and classics. Food and drink. Lots of fun!
Great owners who have a passion for cinema, and it shows. Great selection of films in small theatre setting.
Wonderful small theater, remember to bring your own bowl/container for popcorn!
Good b movies. Very family oriented.
One of the coziest, most dependable locales for cinematic entertainment. Try the root beer!
Nice atmosphere and good non-hollywood movies. The service is great and it is not expensive.
Very comfortable setting, responsible patrons too!
The popcorn is gluten free and there is gluten free cider available! Fantastic, fun atmosphere and wonderful employees. All around great experience, we will be back soon. ❤
Chairs were comfier than expected, student discount is always a bonus, and your tickets come with a side of sarcasm (in a nice way). Just don't forget to turn off your phone. Plus, they show a lot of indie and art films you can't find elsewhere in town.
Nice small venue..good pleasant staff.
An excellent small theater experience
Nostalgic little movie house with old films you typically don't see on the big screen. Fair prices and lots of showing times.
Cozy and off the beaten track
This isn't a theater where you'll see "The Avengers". This is a theater where you'll get to see independent movies and documentaries that don't always come to other theaters. This isn't for everyone, so whether you like what they're showing or not, I'll gloss over... It IS a really fun place though with a great atmosphere. The only thing that I would "warn" about are the chairs. Some of them are a little scary to lean back in, so be cautious if that's something you're worried about. Bottom line: Great place, great prices, great movies if that's the genre you're looking for.
Fun, quirky theater that takes their cinema very seriously. Great movie selections (I saw Won't You Be My Neighbor), delicious popcorn, eco in a real way (bring your own bowl, get refills free!), friendly welcoming staff, tiny theaters, and unusual location make this a must experience if you love movies.
Awesome! Always love the dark side.....
A great local theater. They are cheap and they play movies that are off the beaten path!
Local small sized theaters worth indie or award winning films.
Great little theatres, great movies, many from the not so main stream.
Finally made it here after two years in Corvallis. What a wonderful place! Will definitely return when I can.
Great theatre, and he rents out to groups for private use
A wonderful jewel! Simply the most charming place to see a movie.
The only way to watch a movie is to do it here.
Small, dark, great little theater. We may go back again before we leave town!
Quirky "mom and pop" theater with an eclectic display of movie memorabilia on the walls. They offer the typical concessions as well as a small beer selection.
I really enjoy going to darkside. It's got just the movie selection and vibes I'm into. Every time's a charm!
Love this place! The ambiance, the film options and the awesome crew. Plus no need to sneak your food in, they welcome such behavior. But if you didn't plan ahead they still have you covered with great selections at prices the 99% of us can still afford. Did I mention they're local
A great place to see independent, foreign and classic films!
Old style movie theater
I normally gush over the Darkside, but they had the captions turned on for the hearing impaired this time and it was really distracting. There were only 3 people watching the movie, you'd think it could be an option as no one was hearing impaired.
Best thing in town. Considering the constraints of the business, you'd have to say the selection of films is terrific. So is the coffee. Bravo.
Great place to see movies other theatres won't show.
Small theaters, but a fun experience.
Fantastic place as usual. The decor alone is worth the price of admission. We have such a place for so long that shows such top notch films in such a small town is amazing - says a lot about the community and the owner. I went to a similar theater in Oklahoma city at least once a week and I'd be the only one there. Reminds me of the great Venice theatre in Santa Monica - same devoted audience and a great atmosphere.
Fantastic alternative movies
Great local art cinema.
Staff is second to none. Very good selection of foreign-language and art films for a town the size of Corvallis. Yes, it is an eccentric venue, and it is much appreciated by its equally eccentric audience.
This little cinema is filled with a lot of character and charm. I really like their community movie night. Seeing old movies for free every Tuesday at 7pm is a great way to get cultured and build community.
I always enjoy going to the Dark side Theater. Love the cozy, quirky, atmosphere and the chance to support a local business. I all of the years of going here I have only been disappointed in two movies. This experience has been well offset by the surprising little gems to which Paul and his crew have exposed me.
Someone can call it luck or coincidence, but I have loved each and every film that I have seen at Darkside. Some films are not even the usual kinds of films that I watch, but I still go each time knowing that I'll have a good time and that I will see something that will add something new to my life. Great place, great service, awesome atmosphere and selection of amazing films (many award winning) and the popcorn and snacks are really tasty. So, take a chance and watch a new film now, and there is a very high chance you'll be blown away too. No research necessary, most times. But read the synopsis and trailers that Darkside provides to see if it peaks your interest--it will, though. Make it a regular thing and your life will be better for it.
Caught the noir film The Big Combo there on this night. It was a great way to spend a few hours.
It's kind of a funky place, which is not a bad thing. You'll find movies you likely won't find anywhere else. My reason for three stars is, the projectionist appeared to be having issues.
I like the Darkside theatre. They usually have very interesting movies. There is a cosy lobby where you can hang out with your friends , organic popcorn, nutritional yeast and lemon water. People are very relaxed and friendly there.
This is a nice small quaint local theater. City street parking. You enter through a small door which opens up into large hallways with stairs wondering up through older construction which makes the entrance fun and interesting. Popcorn and a few snacks. Friendly staff. I really enjoyed my experience here at this small town theater.
Great films, great staff, comfortable atmosphere. They have inexpensive tasty food -- supper for $5! I'm addicted to the quinoa bowl. They're always having special events: tacky old science fiction movies you can heckle, complete with food credit, free ice cream bars and a free raffle; German film festivals; research documentaries; silent movies with live musical accompaniment; community fundraisers and more. The main thing is, you can see all the artsy and/or foreign flicks here-- great if Hollywood blockbusters aren't your thing. As they always say, they're open every night and their movies suck less! It's a real asset to the community.
The Darkside may not be the biggest place to see a movie in Corvallis, but it is by far the BEST. Since 1997, owner Paul Turner has put his heart and soul into providing intelligent cinema (and quirky accoutrements). Highly recommended for any cinephile with a brain!
Darkside is such a fun little theater!
One of the best secrets of Corvallis. The selecition of movies here is fantastic. Is not expensive and they are really nice people. When i move out of corvallis i will trully miss this place
Great place, great people, best movies in town !!!
