You will see all the feddbacks of real people who are using the products of Bijou Theatre (Movie Theater) in Oregon.
Nowadays the business receives a score of 4.7 stars out of 5 and that score is based on 116 reviews.
You may have noticed that it reaches an opinions average is basically the highest, and it is based on a very large number of scores, so we may be pretty sure that the valuation is quite reliable. If people have bothered to value when they've done well with the business, it works.
You know that we do not usually stop to place tatings when these are good and we usually do it only if we have had a problem or issue...
This Movie Theater corresponds to the category of Movie theater.
Was just there over the weekend. Absolutely loved it. Had a great old time feel without lacking anything we would hope for from any theater. Seats were comfy and we could tell everyone was enjoying their time as well. Owner was nice and the staff were nice too. We will be back/would recommend to anyone!
Awesome. Black Violin was great. Bring them back again please.
It's such a beautiful theater, and they book really unique acts.
A cozy little venue
We enjoyed the movie ther Old theater but had a lot of fun
Great theater. Great sound.
Great popcorn and friendly, helpful staff
Charming little theater, friendly staff! Great for afternoon movies in stormy weather.
Local charm
It’s an older and classic theater. Could use some updating, but wouldn’t want it to take away the appeal. Also, wish they served food. But, we saw Trae Crowder (hilarious!) and had a great time.
Kitschy, cool, friendly, intimate.
Very kind owners. Great popcorn station. Nice theater. Wheelchair accessible. They even have fun and games sometimes and my son won a prize somehow! Love this place
Gorgeous 1937 theater! Literally thick red velvet curtains between the theater and lobby. Class, elegance, history - one of those moments when you're jealous of the world our grandparents lived in.
We love this little theater. The staff is excellent and very friendly. They know the movies and their popcorn is great. Once the organ is repaired they will start playing it again.
The Bijou in Lincoln City, OR, is owned and operated by true movie lovers. On the rainy coast, duck inside for a movie of the highest calibre. Chase
Step into the past and watch a current movie. Talk about retro: an organist, old style lobby (complete with old movie posters and a real popcorn counter), and seating and screen from the 1950s...all acommodating today's digital viewing environment and first run films.
Fabulous sound, great performances, comfortable seats, performers love to play there, historical building, easy parking nearby, not too big, and there are lots of ghosts supposed to be in attendance!
Great atmosphere, people and movie.
Nothing like seeing a new movie on their new digital screen and sound. 75 year old theater that brings personality and fun movies to the wonderful Oregon Coast with the very finest popcorn available. Try a Saturday morning old movie from the 30's to the 60's for only a couple of bucks. It's fun and little shops and restaurants within walking distance. Owned by the nicest family that truly love movies and cherish this Lincoln City landmark./
Great old theatre that plays all current movies, and Saturday's old black and white
Bijou Theater is one of my very favorite places in Knoxville. An amazing acoustical space. I have seen musicians "un-plug" during a performance just to take in the inherent beauty of the sound. No bad seats, perfect size and the variety of performers is great.
Good show
There isn't a bad seat in the house here. I've been near the back for Ray Lamontagne and in the front row for Loudon Wainwright III, and obviously they book a lot of different types of performers. The sound is great and I like that parking is right next to the building. The restrooms are small but clean. The marquee is beautiful and I have to admit, I was EXTREMELY impressed that they booked Wilco for TWO nights! I miss that they used to book double-feature films here. I once saw Miyazaki's "Spirited Away" and "Princess Mononoke" for like $5... anyway, they don't do that anymore, but they should. Also, Yo La Tengo played a twenty-minute- plus "Spec Bebop" that melted most of the audience's faces off. The venue is heavily featured during Big Ears. I also saw Ryan Adams storm off stage and act like a big ol' baby (of course this was years before the whole misogyny scandal - but he had his douche flag on full display that evening). Anyway, you catch my drift - the Bijou is a GREAT showroom with great views and wonderful sound. Do catch a show here if you are in town and make it a staple of your visits downtown if you live in Knoxville.
If you want great films this is the place.
Sit right up front for the best seats. Avoid the balcony unless you have acrophilia. Sound is usually decent.
I just love an old theatre. In this case, the building was old, but the projector technology was up to date. Made for a very nice cinema experience.
The sound in the back was definitely lacking, but at least it reminded me of listening to Fleetwood Mac on my TG&Y SoundDesign stereo system.
Have seen some productions there and also sang with the Knoxville Choral Society and the Knoxville Chamber Chorale and the Knoxville Chamber Orchestra. Nice smaller venue.
Friendly owners, fresh popcorn, good selection of movies, and Betsy greets patrons and sometimes opens the show with a brief intro about the movie, director, or actors.
Lovely little boutique theatre. This place is great for bringing in some independent films that you might not get to see in the big box theatres(they also play some of the blockbusters as well). It has a real community vibe working for it with the owners often involved in running the shop. I like how it's situated right in the middle of other retail/restaurant spots, sort of has an old style/small town feel working for it. We always try to hit this place up when we're visiting during the summertime.
Great place for a show! Sounds amazing.
This is a good business to support. The problem is that I don't like most movies. I've liked many movies from the past but now movies are being made for the younger people who have pink hair, tattoos and play computer games.
It's a beautiful well maintained building and the Robert Cray concert was absolutely amazing. Never disappointed
Wow, the Bijou is a darling theatre. Roomy clean seats, good popcorn, excellent admission prices, clean bathrooms. Loved the old time feel and huge screen. And the sound was perfect...didn't blast me outta my seat. Good job, Bijou!!
A great small theater for comedians and Jazz performances. Easy to find parking and moderately priced drinks. Love the Bijou!
Classy old theater with comfort and personalised experience
Awesome place, super nice inside, I would recommend this place to anyone if you have never been. Lots of good shows and lots of concerts too choose from. On Gay street so in a very trendy down town area, pent of places to park a well even though their not free!
Just like going to the movies when I was a kid! A great little theater.
New digital and screen. Very friendly home town feeling. Excellent choice of films AND popcorn. Convenient midtown location.
Plays both new blockbusters and old classics. Great for a cheap weekend show.
Love the 1930s look. Clean and comfortable. So much more fun than the big cinemas.
The Bijou was awesome as usual. So good to see Keith and Betsy.
The best theater! No, seriously! In today's world where everyone has the sound up so loud, these guys make it comfortable. The seats are way roomier than other theaters. The place is clean and quirky, the owners are wonderful. The ambiance is so special, it is actually hard to describe. It is a perfect place to go watch a movie. Oh and the popcorn is worthy of it's own five star review.
Great old time theater that supports local causes. Great hot a d fresh popcorn. Not a place for new releases but worth it.
Awesome venue. All seats are good, most are great.
It's okay... I get it's old... But the seats were uncomfortable. Good venue, just wish I wouldn't have been uncomfortable the whole time
There is just no better movie experience on the coast. Old world feel and super friendly service, with with quality first run movies, classic movie showings, and a state of the art projection and sound system. The Best!
very personable and it was like my own private viewing of a major motion picture! love the ambiance too
We had the best time we love watching movies there it is so quaint the owners are so friendly thank you bijou for a Great Christmas .
Great venue. Not a bad seat in the house. Big enough, but never crowded.
This theater is a must see! Great concerts and shows
A real gem in downtown Knoxville. The acoustics are outstanding. The Bijou is over 100 years old and has been completely renovated without loosing the charm and character from the period when it was built.
Their reviews say 'friendly' owners. I guess they are only friendly when you walk in with your wallet out. The other day I was walking in front of their theater when i had a clothing emergency. The clasps on the front of my dress broke, leaving me exposed in public. I quickly ducked in their door to use the bathroom in order to quickly fix the situation when i was stopped and shamed by a woman I can only presume to be the owner. Evidently I didnt request her permission first. I was humiliated by her. I am a 50 year old woman who was scolded like I was some obnoxious teenager being disrespectful in her establishment. I may only be 4 foot 11 inches tall but I AM NO CHILD. I guess i should have given her a full view of my exposed breasts and begged her to grant me 5 minutes to fix my dress in her precious bathroom. We just moved here and definitely would have frequented her theater. Not now.
Historic, beautiful, will managed. Special place with a great vibe. Caught the Banff Film festival here and was very impressed with the crowd.
It's an old funky theatre but very fun. Sit in the back, the seats up front are pretty uncomfortable.
The Bijou is a great venue! Bruce Hornsby and the warm up guy were horrible! So disappointing!
Great old theater their remodelingof it well worth the support
This place is so cool! You have to try it at least once before you say anything. The woman that introduces the movies is super cool and I totally recommend the atmosphere! I do wish there was more old black and white's shown other than the odd Saturday. But hey I still love this place!
I saw a musical called "Bright Star" presented by The Word Players. It was a terrific show, very professional caliber. Highly recommend the show, suitable for all ages. Beautiful, touching story with bluegrass mountain flavored songs. The Bijou is beautiful and the staff are great as they always are.
First time there and Loved the Vintage feel of a classic theater!! Customer Service 100 percent!
Comfortable multi leveled seating and antique elaborate artistic embellishments and decor that makes your imagination jump back into the past. Also, the acoustics are perfect.
A fine cinematic experience! They sell movie posters! Excellent roster of upcoming movies and seasonal events! "These movies should be seen, and seen again... by someone who knows how!" "Oh, Frett, don't go to the movies without me! Whatever will I do without celluloid, popcorn and the willing suspension of disbelief?" "Frankly, Scarylet, I don't give a damn!" Later: "As Jack Warner (God) as my witness, I'll never watch movies at home again!"
Excellent home town movie theatre!
Seats 750 people. Not a bad seat in the house.
It's a fantastically designed establishment with an aesthetically appealing interior and a lively array of shows. However, if you are tall the seat room on the floor leaves much to be desired. At 5'11" and all leg, I swear there's more leg room between seats on an economy flight than in this theater.
Awesome little theater. Saw a movie here on my last visit to the coast and had a wonderful time. Very friendly and welcoming, which is a nice change from all the big theaters, where you're treated like just another face. More local, family run places like this need to be supported by their communities. Will visit again.
Nice little vintage theatre, with deep rooted history, not much else to describe.
Nice theater. We saw Puddles Pity Party and really enjoyed it.
This place is a gem. Robert Cray was awesome!!
A beautiful historic theater with great acoustics in downtown Knoxville!
Let's be frank, it sure ain't much to look at. It's modest, old, dingy, and lacking in style. But it's a theater with a soul and it shows high quality cinema for real movie lovers, unlike other small town theaters. When you're tired of all the bombast, violence, dumbing down, and absurdity of mainstream movies, join us.
I am a co-owner and we welcome your visit.
Lovely old theater to see live productions at
Not too big, not too small. The Bijou is what a movie house used to be and should always be; intimate and run by folks who love movies and the movie going experience. If you are as turned off by multi Plexes as I am, rediscover the joy of going to a movie at the Bijou.
Great local theatre that shows new movies and the oldies too. The popcorn makes a tasty snack
A great intimate setting with virtually no bad seating. Beverages are available. A lovely venue that is walkable from pretty much any downtown location. Nice facility with great sound. I will definitely be back.
Quaint little one screen theater. Very retro. Nice owners.
Superb and cozy with interesting movie selections.
We love going to this venue for concerts small not a bad seat in the theater.... easy parking . Plenty of places to eat on gay st and new market square ( very clean ) all within 1 or 2 blocks ... Feel very safe .... Much , much better than Nashville and lower Broadway.....
We go every chance we get. The prices are amazing, the theater is perfect and the movie selection is great! We can't get enough of the Bijou!!!
We love this place especially on a grey, winter day. It has character, the owners are friendly and never had any problems at all. A friend said she saw a ghost at the old organ near the stage, neat. Greatly prefer this theatre compared to south end of town.
Such a great experience. The staff at the Bijou are excellent, very helpful and friendly. Definitely will go again.
I know a lot of stuff happens here but definitely get your groove on at this place. Definitely try and become a friend of the bijou. The performances here are amazing, I definitely think they should advertise more but I'm sure that has something to do with the budget but either way if you've never been to an event here at least try one time this year and let that be your goal or even your 20/20 resolution! You go out there and support local awesomeness. The staff here or beyond next level! Go have an experience, go try something new, go be a friend of the bijou!
Great place Hal and Phil off the record was great every seat in the house is great.
Old time theater feel. Very relaxing
It was a wonderful experience once again.just passing through
I love the Bijou Theatre, you all should go.
Loved it! Smaller theater, but more intimate with great acoustics. We saw Gaelic Storm. I don't think there's a bad seat in the place. Enjoyed the bar, they had plenty of good whiskey in preparation for a big Irish turn out. We'll definitely be back. Look into the history of this place too, so interesting!
My first visit and I thoroughly enjoyed it.
The historic Bijou Theater is one of the premier venues in town. Any chance to take in the atmosphere there is the opportunity to travel back in time and share the same space as many great artists and performers. The pictures you see do not properly convey the beauty and elegance of this place.
Wonderful atmosphere, great employees and good popcorn to aid in the appreciation of the award winning movie.
The Bijou is one of the jewels in Knoxville's crown. It is a wonderful place to hear music. One can park in a lot right next to the Bijou or, with a bit of healthy walking, park in State Street garage which has been renovated and is much safer with bright lights among other things needed for a good parking garage. Free after six and on weekends.
Classic old theatre.
Take a night and enjoy a carefully chosen movie from one of the last family owned little theaters in Oregon. Really good popcorn. Really nice people. Turn off the HBO and Hulu and go see a movie.
Great place for music or movie
Enjoyed it. Very comfortable. Small theater but clean and comfortable. Good screen an excellent audio.
This place is just right. Comfy, nostalgic and friendly. A real Gem!!
The Bijou Theatre was the perfect setting for the Judah and the Lion Storytelling and Acoustic Experience. It made for an intimate setting with the band. The environment and the interaction between the audience and band made for a feeling of more family and friends gathering together rather than a concert with the band and their fans. The no device environment was an added bonus!
Friendly folks, good films, and a single theater that shows eclectic films. Check out their summer children's shows.
I've been seeing great films here since the 80's. Cozy lobby with classic films on the walls, and movie posters for sale. Theater in great shape with comfy seats and decent sound. Nice folks that work there, tasty popcorn, and great classic matinee line-up. Awesome place to spend a rainy Oregon Coast day.
A great place to enjoy a movie. Kind of an old time cinema feeling here but the technology is current. Popcorn and a good flick, this place is great.
Classic little theatre. Friendly people. Never really crowded.
Great fun. Retro. Great popcorn!
Very ornate old theater. Worth seeing a show for sure!
A great vintage theater. Cheap ($2) Matinee showings (Saturdays and some other days in the Summer) of older films. A refreshment stand in the lobby. They have recently upgraded the projection equipment.
Always an enjoyable experience. The nostalgia makes it the best. So grateful to have this place in my home town. Lovely people too.
Not a bad seat in the house
Nostalgic, locally owned Cinema
Beautiful old theater, complete with an organ and stage curtains! Fabulous, fun place to see a film.
The Bijou is run for and by people who really love movies. It's a truly "indie" experience and it's great to be able to support an old-fashioned family-operated movie theatre.
Intimate, cozy, historic, not a bad seat in the house. I've watched many many acts perform and even the worst performance was good. The entrance is grand, the staff and bartenders are above and beyond friendly. All around great place to see a concert.
We love this theater, and the movies they show. It's got a great sound system. Feels like the movies of long ago. Great popcorn too.
Very small as are the seats. Not much room to move around plus some seats are so far over all you can see is the wall.
I love going to the Bijou Theatre. My husband and I go see shows held at it often. Last weekend we went there and saw Henry Cho! We also saw him there last year for his show! The staff here is incredible! Everyone is super pleasant and helpful including the security screeners at the doors. They make entering fast and efficient especially for the large amount of people at any given show! The Bijou is nice and clean always, as are the bathrooms! The seats here are comfortable. The view from any seat in the house is great! The sound in the theater is great also! They also have a concession stand for drinks.
Unique place to catch a nostalgic movie.
Great venue. Sound quality is A+. Staff very helpful.
Great little theater, shows films that don't get shown at mainstream theaters.
Best popcorn and a great atmosphere.
We love this home town theater!
This place had a fabulous menu. Alex was our server and he was excellent. We both decided to try the tacos a variety of steak roasted Chicken shrimp and pork and they were excellent. We were short on time and look forward to coming back we can spend more time as the drinks were pretty darn good too.
I have been wanting to go to the Biijou. It was raining sideways when I arrived tonight, alone, to see Robert Redford. I walked in and said I know its already started. The woman at the counter put her finger to her lips and shushed me. Proceeded to ask me if I parked on the yellow line. She didn't greet me and was rude when she shushed me. The parking question was fine as I was parked on yellow. I will not go back and am very disappointed.
Nice venue with a rich music history. It's not as well known as the Opry or the Filmore, but the list of acts that have rocked this house is no less impressive. It's perfect if you prefer the smaller, more intimate venues. Parking is abundant, and it's very convenient to public transit. If a date night is your idea, the Bijou is walking distance to countless restaurants and bars. Neighborhood is safe and well lit.
Great sounding venue. However, Pilot Light is my favorite (for many reasons). TN Theatre, Mill & Mine, and others have acoustic problems.
Funky place to Rocketman on Elton John
Loved watching Carpetbag Theatre take the stage in Red Summer. Powerful, historical and so entertaining. The Bijou is a wonderful venue. I've been fortunate to visit several times!
Fun family oriented theater. Love the special shows you do...Grease dress up with prizes, singalong shows, annual Rocky horror (bring your own props) and much more. Thanks for the fun & saving the theater!~!!
Small, excellent venue. Lovely sounds and interior. I'd love to come back.
I LOVE THIS PLACE! It’s such a cool little theater. It’s owned by the sweetest couple, one of whom will come out to introduce the movie. It’s affordable and they bring in such an awesome selection. I recently watched “Blackkklansman” by Spike Lee there and was so thankful because we do not always have access to the most diverse movie options in Lincoln City.
No obnoxious commercials like the "big theater " when we saw Star Wars a week earlier. This place is treasure.
There's something special about the Bijou. Music and memories... War and Treaty tonight was phenomenal. We can change the world with that kind of vibe. Love love love. Thank y'all so much!
A wonderful venue
A grand piece of Knoxville history. As a music venue, the smaller more intimate atmosphere cannot be compared to. I absolutely love being able to go and enjoy great shows there.
Super venue. Saw Mandolin Orange on April 20, 2019. Excellent show. Seating was great. Everyone was super friendly. Will-call was superb. ...no line.
Old classic.
A quaint, fun, little theater that runs old and new films. Their summer matinees are awesome!
Awesome, not a bad seat in the theater. We sat in balcony for a comedy show and saw the performers very clearly. Sound always good, have seen many musical performances here as well. Drinks at the bar also good. If you get boxseats, you can order drinks electronically and they are brought to you. That's fun. Very nice and clean restrooms.
For as old as this historic building is it was beautiful inside and the sound systems are all updated and sounded great. My school held our nursing convocation here and it was wonderful. Getting in and out after the ceremony was cramped but worth it by far.
Best venue in Knoxville. Great sound and beautiful atmosphere. If they could only re-position the bar...
Good film good people
