REVIEWS OF Ohio Theatre IN Ohio

Hannah Hunter

Always a beautiful experience. Clearly the building has been lovingly maintained. Pro tip: nosebleed seats have the best acoustics, but aren't ideal for tall people.

Brad Goldman

A wonderful, comfortable venue to see performances. Close parking and restaurants. CAPA puts on wonderful broadway plays

Erin Wallace

I've been to the Ohio Theater more times than I can remember and each time is special. The auditorium is amazing. I love the Summer movie series; most of the time there's an organ concert before the movie and there's nothing like seeing a movie on a giant screen. I'd also recommend the tour; we were able to sit in on the CSO practicing 'Also Sprach Zarathustra' which was so far beyond anything I was expecting. If you have the opportunity, visit this gem of Columbus.

Amy Bernardy

Saw Finding Neverland here... the stage was beautifully transformed. Beautiful theatre right in the city.

Terry Janis

Absolutely outstanding performances by symphony and Jason Alexander. It was like reality Broadway. We were so surprised at Jason's singing ability. Top notch.

Bobbi Jo Finley

Went to a summer movie. I've loved attending theater productions here. What a beautiful and historic theater!

Wendi Caudill

Wonderful, beautiful historic theatre. The balcony steps can be a challenge for the less than sure-footed, there are no handrails. Comfortable but close seating. The murals are interesting to look at while waiting for the shows to start. By far my favourite theatre in Columbus.

Tony Rogers

Beautiful venue. Comfy seating, even for a large man like myself while wearing a full suit. The staff is super courteous and helpful. Parking under the state house makes walking here a breeze. Can't wait to come back for more shows!

Thomas Taggart

A Columbus treasure. The events are typically excellent. I particularly enjoy the summer CAPA movie series. They show classic movies from the golden era of Hollywood to great films of the 70s and 80s. Tickets are reasonable at $5 the day of the show or you can buy sets of 10 at $3 each. The architecture is like nothing else and the grand organ add a wonderful touch. If you have never been, find a show, concert, or performance that interests you!

Karl Hein

One of the best. Get there early and enjoy the pre-show organ show.

john volpi

Theater was great. Play was depressing. Good acting. Good sets. Good singing.

BlueJackets Fan

Mind blowing. Beautiful. You have to check it out. Everyone was very nice. Extremely clean. Columbus landmark!

Ralph Martins

Very picturesque. Just make sure you get a seat that's close to the stage.

Heather Rodenborg

Beautiful theater but the seats and aisles are super small. I'm 5 ft 3 and my knees hit the seat in front of me.

Holly Lawrence

Love going to the Ohio theater. Such an awesome building full of intricate details. The staff is always friendly and the building is always clean.

Chris Howerth

Excellent service and hospitality with great performances.

Michael Deighton

Had fun time seeing hocus pocus

Nancy Verber

Beautiful restored theater, Morton theater organ, great summer program of old movies. Tours are available occasionally - great guides?

Kate Myers

Amazing theater. We went to see Hamilton and our seats were in the balcony. Even if you are at the top you can still see and hear amazing. They also have a few drinks and snacks you can buy to bring to your seats

Ms. Dana

Love this place, see shows here monthly - my home away from home for years! What an amazing history & the stage door Joe Worman collected stars autographs - is something highly special!!! Had a hand in saving it from demolition......may it always be here

michael beard

Love this place. Ambiance is amazing

Stefano Di Lollo

A comfortable & aesthetic theatre with decent acoustics. #SummitOfGreatness

Rebecca Curran

I always love visiting this historic theatre. I was there for the reveal of the 2019/2020 Broadway in Columbus series. They made it a lot of fun.

Emma Burgess

Such a wonderful place. If you haven't ever been to the Ohio Theater, I would highly recommend it. It's been beautifully taken care of over the years and you can feel the history as you walk through it. A good time to go and not spend much money is during the summer. CAPA puts on a series of old movies for about $4 a ticket. It's so much fun, for family and friends!

Kathy. Bukey

Beautiful restored theater. The show was great! We thoroughly enjoyed our evening.

Alexis Floyd

A perfect place to have an amazingly breathtaking experience no matter what you are going to view. I went to see the Nutcracker with my students and my was it amazing. It was very interactive and family oriented. The architecture speaks for the artistic legacy and dedication of the theater. Being a Columbus native, I am proud to have this place as a landmark. The staff is usually very respectful. If you haven't already, please visit this place.

Sheila Stephens

Took my grandaughter to the nutcracker, it was a memorable evening i really wicked the stage just want so fast away it's like there is so much wasted space. But i just need to get better sets next time. The performance was simply marvelous. Would defiantly do it again even in the same set..

Lizzie Jimenez

This building is gorgeous! Love every experience I have here. The staff is extremely helpful and the quality and assortment of shows available to see is perfect. Sometimes it can be difficult for several dozen ladies to get through the restroom at intermission, just a heads up. I can't wait for my next show here!

kenisha calucho

Beautiful theater. They had a large staff available to seat patrons and answer any questions. There are various concessions stands offering coffee with liquor, wine, candy roasted nuts, water. Some of these stands you can preorder for intermission. Theater opens at 7pm if you have tickets prior to the show. 7:30pm before they allow patrons into the main area. (*the show I attended, Hamilton, started at 8pm).

Karyn Cochran

The theatre was beautiful. The floors slanted a bit, at least in the upper levels which was a little strange when walking, but necessary for the proper seating arrangements. The bathrooms were clean and functional. I was a little concerned due to the age of the building. The whole building is just gorgeous. And, parking was right across the street.

Beth Hicks

Beautiful, nostalgic Ohio Theatre.

Ruth Whitehouse

Love this theater ! It's beautiful inside. It's historic. The acoustics are excellent. $5 for an evening of parking is welcome. Sometimes the second-floor women's bathroom is inadequate for intermission. Sometimes the concessions are too pricey. I've been going there since the late 60s, and I consider this theater a Columbus treasure.

Justin Gates

Beautiful theatre and a Columbus Historical Treasure! The staff are friendly and helpful (Brad helped us and was so friendly and accommodating) attended CAPA movies and broadway shows. Will continue to attend! Parking is easy and close. Love this place! Please support the refurbishment if the organ!!!

Margaret Gertler

I cannot even scratch the surface of how amazing this place is. The Ohio Theatre is GORGEOUS. I was able to see Casablanca for 50¢ during the opening weekend of the CAPA summer movie series. The lower balcony was perfectly level with the screen and the best seats in the house. The entire building is so beautiful and worth the admission for anything just to go inside.

kay arnold

What a great night we had at The Ohio Theatre!! This place is absolutely stunning inside! I could sit for hours just looking from up in the loge/ balcony area. The Nutcracker was wonderful! Great show in a great venue!! Thanks for a great night!!

thebigal1

It's pretty easy and quick to get in and to your seat, and quick to leave. Seating is comfortable, sound quality was nice. Recommend seats toward the front of the 2nd level for the best view.

Laura Stalter

Went to see Casablanca for the kickoff of the summer movie series. Everything was lovely, such a beautiful old theater! I'll definitely be back a lot this summer.

Steve Thayer

Such a great old theater! It was a great night out to see Oaklahoma with friends.

Jay Melrose

Always a pleasure to attend the summer film series at the magnificent Ohio Theatre!

bessopal

Beautiful theater! Only complaint was there is only a minimal number of stalls in the ladies bathroom which meant standing in line for all intermission.

Bruce Kline

Always a wonderful experience sitting in the balcony of the beautifully restored theater. Watching a silent film with musical accompaniment (and sound effects) from The Mighty Wurlitzer!

Nina Price

Beautiful setting. I wish restrooms were more convenient.

Joel and Katie Hacker

Love the organ and the incredible decoration all over the theater. We went for the summer movie series, which is always a great time for a few dollars a ticket.

John Shaw

What a beautiful and historic theater! This place is a gem and makes any production a work of art. Do yourself a favor and sign up for CAPA tickets to enjoy many times a year.

Meghan S

Beautiful theater. We were in the nose bleeds so it was a challenge to see the show so we just admired the architecture.

Jim Young

Columbus is lucky to have such a wonderful theatre!

Katy Brackett

Amazingly gorgeous venue! The seating numbering was a little confusing at first but the seats were wonderful. Thoroughly enjoyed the concert we attended.

Tom Vasale

A magnificent, opulent, completely renovated theater! Beautiful surroundings make seeing a show here all the more fun. Leg room is quite limited, though, so I can only give four stars. By the end of Dear Evan Hansen, a nearly three hour play, I was really uncomfortable.

Lynn Meadows

Beautiful theatre, absolutely gorgeous. Helpful staff. I went to an old folks dress rehearsal so tickets were unbelievably cheap and we got fantastic seats.

Dana S

Beautiful atmosphere. Tight seating, but it has historically original details everywhere... Including the bathroom sitting areas.

Lawrence Radford

Summer movie series is great. Different films each year. A chance to things that you usually only see on TV. Not the most comfortable seats compared to modern theaters but all in all worth a visit. Ornate historic landmark.

Jean Ann Carlson

We go for music and movie. The Mighty Morton fills the room and stunning decor and subtle lighting changes entertain until the movie begins. Have seen some movies never before seen and just saw Ferris Bueller -- laughed from beginning to end.

Daniel Sude

A gorgeous place with good sound quality. I have now been to two shows there, each excellent. MUCH better sound, in my perception, than the Southern Theater (where I saw Post Modern Jukebox). Walls are rich with classical motifs and art deco design. Columbus must never lose this treasure, located in the heart of downtown with convenient (and only 5 dollar!) event parking. What shows did I see? A free event featuring young new composers and a paid one featuring Final Fantasy: Distant Lands. Despite not knowing the latter games very well, the landscapes of sound overcame me, even in the balcony.

Jennifer Pennington

Excellent service when I bought tickets, in person, earlier in the week. And the night of the show we upgraded the tickets at the last minute. The building is gorgeous! The sound suddpen is top notch! Had no trouble hearing or understanding anything!! Also, we attended what probably was a sold out show meaning the building was very close to capacity of over 2500 people. The parking situation was easy and quick, and the women's bathroom situation the same!

Edwin B Amos

Always a good time, enjoy taking the kids for a taste of "old time" theater

Adam Radloff

Love this old theater. Could use more bathrooms. Saw "Mean Girls" last night, sound was too loud.

Yvonne Long

Beautiful architecture in history. Employees and staff as well as volunteers are very pleasant, accommodating and helpful. Definitely worth visiting for at least one performance. Most definitely highly recommend.

Katie Fox

Ohio Theatre is a beautiful theatre. We were in row V. The ground is slanted. I honestly don't think there would be a bad seat in the house. The sound was fantastic and show was phenomenal. Seats were fairly comfortable. Would highly recommend to see a show here at least once!

Pamela Blatter

We saw an old classic "Oklahoma". The movie and the venue were FABULOUS! And did I mention the organ? The music that comes from that instrument is absolutely wonderful! Unfortunately the organ is in need of repair, but there is a funding campaign underway to finance it. So if you have ever enjoyed the organ music at the Ohio Theater, please make a donation.

Tiffiany Jackson

Beautiful theater. Thre organist is superb for this summer movie series. I really enjoyed it with 3 tango friends.

angel hedberg

Beautiful theater! And such fun to watch Jurassic Park with the orchestra playing the score! It was an exciting show & the Columbus Symphony Orchestra received a rousing standing ovation at the end, well done!!

Brianna R

Gorgeous theatre with beautiful sound and amazing viewings of classic movies. A great outing for a family with kids who enjoy going to the movies. Consessions are expensive, but otherwise a great place.

teresa kelly

Great old place! Great old movies during summer time. Great plays and music other times.

Sue Doud

The Ohio Theater is beautiful and Dear Evan Hanson locks you in an emotional grip. It's a small but mighty cast. Well done!

Morgan Perryman

Saw Phantom of the Opera here and could not have been more magical. The whole place is beautiful. ♥️

Alex Dreamer

Great place to see show and all the seats are great

Doug Berry
