This Movie Theater is included in the category of Movie theater.
Cozy atmosphere, respectful and knowledgeable staff!
This theatre has amazing ice cream and amazing ambience!
Wow, this is unbelievable. No air conditioner and the seats are awful. I would never return. The prices are the same as a nice theater in Asheville. The best thing about this place is the ice cream! I feel like it should be a dollar movie theater and even at that price I don’t think I would return sadly!
We loved Aladdin!
Went in for a cup of coffee while strolling down Main Street. It was such a pleasant experience! Great cup of coffee and the man behind the counter was wonderful!
They cut off the movie early. It started an hour late. We were harassed and the manager did nothing to help. Not going back
A beautiful, old, quaint theatre...a must see in the area.
Besides the seats, you can't beat a community-driven movie theater.
Such a unique little coffee shop. Love the atmosphere and the coffee. Has current movies playing for a reasonable price.
Small theater, wish the seats were different, but it's a nice place.
The prices are high considering they only have one tiny theater. The seats are regular padded folding chairs. The old building is cool though. Snacks and drinks are also pricey. But it's the only local theater so...
Enjoyed the movie End Games Marvel. The associates always so willing to help with a refill or a answer to your questions. Thankyou
Great place to watch a movie you can get a beer and some popcorn they have recently upgraded the seating I love going here and cant wait till end game come out to watch that in this cozy theater.
Just go and supporr local...
Such a lovely, intimate and historic setting for live music and movies!
Great venue for a movie! Kids and I had a blast and loved Wonder Woman!
The sound was to loud for a small room like that. Popcorn wasn't that worm or fresh. I did enjoy the movie.
This is the only place you need for musical supplies. Great selection, great prices, and wonderful people. Check out the used instruments upstairs. Can't beat the prices.
Small local, old fashion theater and small venue concerts. Nice place.
As always friendly service, good snacks, and hometown atmosphere. We love the Strand, keep up the good work.
Always a wonderful experience!
Love coming here! The free kids movie on Saturday mornings is awesome, especially for younger children you don't want to waste ticket money on. They have an awesome selection of snacks, and stay up to date on new release movies. The live music they offer is incredible as well!
The movie was great watch Dumbo and the theater is wonderful just a nice family type of theater with a nice stand with popcorn and all the goodies
We visited this adorable single-screen “boutique theater” in the heart of downtown Waynesville, NC, while on vacation in the Smoky Mountains. I was impressed with the variety of snacks and the low prices. We only tried the popcorn, but it was some of the best theater popcorn I’ve ever had! I noticed that one of the employees tossed the popcorn and butter together in a bowl, and this made all the difference. Bonus: they offer free refills on their soft drinks. The theater itself was unique and charming. We’ll certainly return for another visit.
Family friendly. Quant. Spacious seating. Good value
Amazing venue with first run movies and frequent live concerts in an intimate theatre, making every ticket a VIP experience. Wonderful selection of wine and craft beers, locally sourced sodas and ice cream, and delicious coffee drinks. Make sure to check out their website for upcoming musical events.
It is a great small theater.
Great local place
Great venue
Cute movie house and coffee shop. No real gluten free or vegan options other than pop corn, nachos or potato chips. The seating was a little underwhelming but ok. The sound was a bit quiet. We watched Avengers End Game and they did have a 10 minute intermission in the middle of the movie which I liked a lot. It gave us a chance to stretch our legs, get some chips, get more drinks and hit the restroom. If they upgraded the seating and the sound it would be a better experience. Willing to pay more ticket price for the upgrade!
Enjoyed the movie very much. Theater is small but sound was fine and room temperature very comfortable. First time for me. Think I'll try to visit more often. It's nice to have a theater in Waynesville that will show current movies.
This is one of the coolest spots in downtown Waynesville, and the owner is simply phenomenal!
Love this place
We have been many times (both first-run and second-run movies, free children's movies and live music) and enjoy it each time. It's small, it's close to home and we love it!
Killer smal venue with nice sound and acoustics. Would recommend going. We saw a live Bluegrass show and it was outstanding. It was also Rhonda Vincent and her band. Awesome show!
(Translated by Google) Wow a hidden gem in the heart of Waynesville !! .. (Original) Wow una joya escondida en el corazón de Waynesville!!..
I really enjoy coming to watch a movie here. It's simple and convenient with local soda and icecream options.
Fun atmosphere, good snacks. Theater seats are very uncomfortable for a 2 hour movie.
Love the employees, popcorn is amazing. Highly recommend. Only downside is the seating but you get used to it
Awesome hole-in-the-wall theater with a small, but awesome, rotation of movies.the staff has always been incredibly friendly, and seeing how the manager person treats his staff is actually pretty heartwarming, he seems like a good guy. The prices are very fair and the concession selection is great. The theater itself is small (as expected) but with good quality sound and picture. My only gripe would be the moderately comfortable seating that lacks cupholders, but you can't have it all. Definitely worth supporting this local business.
It's tiny but for a fun night in this small town the strand is great for a date night or just to relax with a cider and a movie.
Small town venue. Small theater but great atmosphere. They serve beer, hard cider, popcorn, ice cream and coffee. I was in heaven!
sound quality good. very small and many stairs. bad popcorn
This venue is FANTASTIC IN EVERY WAY! ! Great entertainment, superb value, and very friendly crew!
Good movies & prices
Great popcorn and coffee.
Very nice theater on Main Street. Nice to be able to order beer and wine or ice cream and coffee to enjoy with the movie. They also sell ice cream/coffee etc for take out if not watching the movie. Seating isn't super comfortable, kind of feels like cafeteria seats, but doesn't really distract from the experience. If watching the movie, plan to get there early to pay and get your drinks/snacks, they aren't super fast. Overall a very fun time!
Great shakes.
Rude and unprofessional. Started the movie an hour late and then cut it off early and refused to let us finish it because we "only missed a little on the end". Also very overpriced for a tiny screen in what appears to be a basement with extremely uncomfortable seats. I was also harassed by another man there and told the manager who did nothing.
A must do for your list !!! Very nostalgic!
Nice local theater. Offer local made products like soda and craft beer.
A truly lovely theater. They offer incredible snacks (including The Hop ice cream, espresso drinks, and beer) at affordable prices, tickets are way cheaper than other theaters, and the staff is so friendly. A quick drive from Asheville if you’re looking to get away from the city and explore a new place. The theater is right on Main Street in downtown Waynesville, which is so fun to explore. Highly recommend!
Awesome place to watch a movie! Less expensive than a traditional theatre and more options for food and drink. Comfortable seats. We go here whenever we can.
We like going to the strand it is small but friendly folks.
Brand new digital projector, a great price for first run movies. Locally made ice cream and soda. You can come for a movie, or just sit and have an ice cream.
I haven't seen any live performances here, but the screen and seating are a joke. It looks like something I could put together in my basement. My suggestion would be to drive 35 minutes and pay the same ticket prices at Regal. The cement floor is cracked with puddles of water and the seats are just padded chairs, which are uncomfortable. This isn't a real movie theater.
Great Service. Delicious menu.
Nice place to hang out.
Awesome theater with great concessions.
It was really good! Good coffee and great customer service! It has a good family environment
Nice theater that only shows children's movies. We have to drive to Asheville to see a good movie.
Nice small, very small movie theater, one screen. Good popcorn and craft beer. Lots of other food choices. They show indie movies that you might not get to see any where else.
Always a good time!
The phone line keeps hanging up on me without giving information about ticket pricing and the web site doesn't list the movies playing or ticket pricing. Makes it tough to plan an outing.
Man, I really really want to like this place. Ever since our local theatre closed down a few years back, driving to Sylva or Asheville makes movie-going tedious. However, the viewing experience is BAD. Literally office chairs, bunched together about 15' from the screen. Looks like there used to be a balcony back in the day. Now THAT needs to be remodeled and then it may be practical place to watch a movie. I love the mom and pops style, local eats etc, and the folks have always been sweet. But, frankly, its a terrible place to see a movie. Saw "Solo" there and my neck hurt for a few days afterwards due to the proximity of the screen to the seats. Wish the Waynesville Theatre would get back up and going. I don't need modern stadium seating, ala Regal, but something even akin to Quin in Sylva would more than suffice for a small town movie venue.
Perfect, no other words to describe it!!!
You come in and you immediately see the menu and you can bye tickets or food. The staff if extremely nice.
I revisited the theater today (July 2) to watch Toy Story 4. Apparently someone was listening to some complaints as the sound level was perfect, in my view. I measured 60 to 80 DBA which is loud enough for all to enjoy but not so loud as to be objectionable. Kudos to the management. The previous two visits I made to the theater, the sound was so loud, I could not enjoy the movie. The first time I asked the staff to turn it down, which they did, but it was still very loud. The most recent time they said they turned it down, but it was still way too loud. I left after 10 minutes. My ears are still ringing after one hour. My guess is that the sound is at ear damaging levels.
Love everything about it....the seats get to me if a long movie is all. NIce people, great snacks. TY for saving some of downtown
Its local, right down the street, easy to find, great food, and 100% satisfaction.
Good place to take your kids dont expect a IMAX experience you wont be happy but for a family night out to see a newly released movie for a decent price we love taking our son here, also there milkshakes are crazy good and you can purchase beer and wine...
Quaint, clean, friendly, acoustics were outstanding!!! Coffeehouse and ice cream shop upstairs... lovely...a must!!
Trash
Nice place
Love this place.
Our whole family loves The Strand! We haven't been to a Carmike or any other theater since we discovered this cozy little spot on Main St. The staff are always incredibly friendly and helpful, the snack and beverage options are much cheaper than commercial theatres and there is a great selection from candies, popcorns, ice cream, coffees, and more. Ticket prices are excellent compared to commercial venues as well. The only negatives are quality and quantity of seating which I would normally knock a star off, but the staff, the options, and the atmosphere more than make up for seats. As long as we live in Haywood, The Strand us where our family will go for our cinematic adventures.
Great sound and lovely atmosphere.
Cool old time vibe, we love it
Great environment, and very pleasant staff. As well as a good quality picture and great sound system. Love to see more releases.
Tonight I enjoyed my first Rocky Horror Picture Show experience in almost 25 years, and the management of The Strand deserves a hearty round of applause for helping to make it happen. Thanks!
The Strain is a great place to watch movies
While this theater is small and the seating somewhat uncomfortable, it makes up for it in charm and service. Great selection of local brews and sodas plus a well stocked snack bar; this is how you watch a movie. Get there early to get a good seat.
Small venue with chairs...but fun and quirky!
Local quaint and historic theater. I've been there for the Academy award nominated shorts which was great! Live music events are fun too!
Jacob Johnson guitarist, singer, songwriter was so entertaining! He is extremely talented, a must see! Loved his sense of humor as well. We purchased his CD, "One Take Jake", love it and the quality is great! We look forward to seeing him in concert again! The Strand Theater is a local gem! It's one more reason we love Waynesville!
Atmosphere very nice, employees offered great service. Definitely going again, good for families!
What a hidden gem! Loved going here with the family to watch The Incredibles 2 movie. It's very quaint with that small town feel. Don't pass up the chance to go here for coffee and a evening film.
Lovely place for a movie.
Just watched a great movie in a relaxing setting while enjoying a locally brewed cold beer. Will come again soon.....
Great local theatre.
Love it here
First time we went to see a movie here it was great. Different variety of snacks, friendly staff, no issues. Next time, the movie did not start until an hour after it was supposed to due to audio issues... I understand it's a small theater, so small staff. But the same two guys seemed to be running around trying to sell tickets as people walk in, make snacks, start a movie and then fix tech issues. It wasn't until 20 minutes past the scheduled start time that they seemed to even try to start the movie, then realized the audio problem. I really want to love this place because it's in town and super chill, but that hour delay was real rough.
The coolest little movie theater and amazing ice cream
Wonderful old theater and good movie.
From the moment I walked in, I was impressed with the overall atmosphere. The service at the counter was exquisite and the tasty food was well-priced. However, we had the pop corn, mocha Oreo ice cream, a Coke and a latte. Pop corn was cold, ice cream was divine, Coke was flat and the latte was good. Make sure your popcorn is warm before you walk away and taste your soda! The service, atmosphere, reasonable prices and good quality of food make up for the extremely loud speakers and uncomfortable seating in the theater.
Creative theater that shows movies, has open mic nite, and other entertainment. Good coffee and ice cream shop too.
Popcorn Awesome, drink selection great, fair prices, Super staff
Fantastic small town theater with a great selection of snacks, ice cream, and beverages. Reasonably priced and always has a good popular movie.
Had trouble with their ticketing system, (wanted to get advance tickets) so I reached out the email on their website...no response. Bought tickets to Smoky Mountain Cinema w/no issue. Decent way to lose business is to ignore the customer trying to make a purchase.
Organic popcorn cooked in coconut oil AND in Waynesville. Very cool!
Clean small cute movie theater
Cozy local theater in the heart of downtown Waynesville offering new movie titles. They offer a great draft beer list and wines as well. You can enjoy an ice cream before your movie in the snug lounge area or something from their full espresso bar with delicious lattes, floats, and more.
Really enjoyed the show (Travis Ledoyt). The theatre is cozy and the staff is friendly and very accommodating. The desserts were delicious and with lots of drink options, there was something for everyone. Overall, it was a great experience and we will definitely be going back.
A small intimate theater with excellent snacks & prices.
Nice ... but seats need updating
Love this place! So thankful to have a theatre, coffee bar that serves beer, wine, and Hop Ice Cream in a cool, yet sofisticated atmosphere in the heart of downtown. Prices are reasonable, employees are friendly!
Always a delight to see a movie or a live performance at the historic Strand theater. The owners really did a fantastic job restoring this place. Very artistically updated with an awesome sound system and movie screen, yet honoring elements of the building that give you a nostalgic sense of the past. They have a wonderful selection of craft brews and some wine, but my favorite beverages there are the exauisitely blended hot teas from around the world and the refreshing, locally made, natural sodas by the Waynesville Soda Jerks. Our son LOVES their homemade brownies and popcorn too! The last movie we saw there was The Beauty and the Beast and it was fabulous! Looking forward to seeing the sequel to Guardians of the Galaxy in May 2017.
UPDATE: After reporting them to the BBB, they refunded my money. It took about 6 months, but they made good on it. They ripped me off on Lee Roy Parnell tickets. They moved the show back 1 week, but didn't notify me. I have sent emails, requesting contact and a refund, but received no word, and no tickets, since May of this year. I guess they have transcendentally meditated the refund to me, like they did the tickets. There is no excuse for the lack of communication, or sub-level degree of customer service that they promote. If I ever do business with them again, I will promptly have my head examined!
My first time there and what a sweet experience! Never been in a small town theater, so didn't know what to expect, but I loved it. A real treat!
Very cool venue, single theatre. Great concessions and lounge area. Seating for the theatre could use work, chairs were traditional "stack and lock" style. Not bad, but not good for a 90+ minute movie. Would go again.
Community!
This place reminds me of a theater that's just a make shift effort. While the sound system is GREAT, the padded office chairs are not that comfortable. You get used to having cup holders and a slipped seating arrangement. None of that at the Strand. Flat cement floors and padded office chairs. If you're going for comfort, skip this venue. In the other hand you really do feel like you are supporting a local business. They have popcorn and ice cream but the notion that there is good or a cafe is not especially accurate. Given the option to do it again, I'd opt for a. Real theater with drink holders and comfortable seats. Given that the movie costs the same, I'd rather be comfortable
Nice local theater.
