My husband brought me here on a surprise date and oh. my. gosh. what a darling place. The theaters were newly renovated but still have their vintage feel. Seats are very comfortable and the place is very clean. Definitely planning on going back!

Nabil Hobeilah

Good price for a cozy place, the hotel is great. But needs new chairs and a new curtain at the entrance of the theater. Outside light comes in whenever anybody enters the theater during the movie at anytime, which seems to be tolerated by the establishment.

i come here for the popcorn and stay for the shaved ice downstairs. This is the only movie theater where i get popcorn. I'm one who gets nauseas at the smell of movie theater popcorn (doesn't it smell like feet?) but this place has caramel corn which smells like heaven. That alone makes it worth it to come to this theater.

Victor Chaves

Nice cinema located in the hotel of the same name. Always featuring award winning movies.

Classic vibe, projections of old films, sometimes 35 mm, unique design--love this place!

Richard Friedland

Interesting venue theater was fine

Kushal Dasgupta

Classic movie theatre below the Roxy hotel. The place is worth going just to get the classy 1950s feel of the hotel upstairs. You could also grab dinner before at the restaurant. No reserved seating at the theatre though.

I went to see Hocus Pocus in theaters and they didn’t check the dvd! They were too cheap to afford a digital copy of the movie and ended up showing some bootleg skeleton movie. The disc was scratched! Only good thing about this experience is the person at the counter gave people refunds, free popcorn, and he gave someone 20 dollars for no reason.

Quaint boutique cinema that was fun for my wife and me. Only negative is that their popcorn popper couldn't keep up with demand.

Spencer Maurice

A wonderful experience. A hidden cinematic gem.

I love this little theatre. They usually play smaller, independent or foreign films that are sometimes hard to find at your bigger name cinemas. There’s only 1 theatre and it’s not very big, but it adds to the charm of the space. There’s a cute concession stand right outside the theatre that sells candy and drinks from the bar. (The theatre is towards the back of the hotel through the lobby, downstairs)

Howdymynameishow

Good enough, if it wasn't for the bad job with the 40s stuff.

Lots of great atmosphere and architectural design, quality snacks ... and then, a tiny screen with a mediocre projection quality.

Fun small theater in the basement of the Roxy Hotel. Very new but with a "retro" look - almost a "steampunk" vibe. The bar/restaurant on the first floor is a bit pricey but very good and attentive service despite our server getting the order wrong.

Cool little theater that I imagine doesn’t make money, or at least not much, but it’s a nice perk of being a hotel guest. They show small-release movies, sometimes ones that aren’t showing anywhere else in New York. They’re one of a few theaters that do e-ticketing with MoviePass, which is nice, although they don’t do assigned seating. The seats are the red plush variety, and low, but the springs were still working and there was actually a lot of leg room. The fabric is a little scratchy. I thought he sound was a bit loud, could have been the movie. The picture quality is fine, no complaints. The front row is several years back from the screen, which isn’t huge, so no one will be too close, but the back rows are pretty far back. Still, no one will strain their neck looking up. They sell typical movie snacks and popcorn, although I’m not sure how fresh it is. There’s also a great coffee place in the hotel lobby and one can obviously bring a coffee into the theater. If they are showing something I want to see, I wouldn’t hesitate to come back.

I got to say: this theater is cool, its old school, its really not that expensive and it has a great selection of movies throughout the week from newer releases to hits from past decades. However, every.... single.... time I go to this theater the absolute WORST audience is there. People using their phones, talking throughout the movie, a ridiculous amount of getting up and coming back in with no consideration of standing in front of the projection or anything. I have been to this theater at least 6 times and every single time all the above is happening. I don't know if its tourists on vacation since its a hotel, or the typical inconsiderate retiree baby boomer locals who reflect what I'm saying above, but just the level of inconsideration is incredible. I'll still come to this theater because they have a great selection and its so old school but oh my god is it a chore to watch anything here with such a lack of etiquette. Madonn!

Awesome spot, very unique atmosphere. Saw a movie recently that wasn't being shown in any other theater around here! Good film selections.

THE ROXY CINEMA IS THE PEAK OF PERFECTION. COURTEOUS HELPFUL STAFF. BEAUTIFUL,CLEAN ENVIRONMENT. THE TICKETS ARE THE LEAST EXPENSIVE I KNOW IN MANHATTAN AT $12 THEY ACCEPT MOVIEPASS WITH PLEASURE. THE THEATER IS FREE FOR ALL GUESTS OF THE HOTEL LOCATED UPSTAIRS. YOU CAN EVEN GET A PASS WITH POPCORN INCLUDED FOR ONLY $125 HIGH CLASS FOR SURE. OPEN TO THE PUBLIC. THEY HAVE A CERTAIN FLAIR. LOUNGE AREA IS RELAXING AND THEY EVEN HAVE A SORT OF GAME SPACE IN THE LOBBY AND NEAR THE MAIN FLOOR BAR.THERE IS A PHOTO BOOTH,CHESS TABLE AND A POOL TABLE. VERY NEAR TO PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION SO IT'S VERY CONVENIENT TO GET TO. M55 BUS ON 6TH AVE OR 1 TRAIN AT FRANKLIN STREET

I went to this cinema to see a movie that was posted online. When we got there they informed us the movie was cancelled because they didn't own the license to show the movie. I was a bit disappointed but the most annoying part was the attitude of the girl who works there. Minimal to no eye contact, very aggressive and angry. She was looking away while she talked to us and treated us like we are to blame for something. Not sure whats going on?! The place is very cute but with people like that working there not sure if I want to go there again.

Marshall Shaffer

Truly one of the worst projections I’ve ever seen. It was 35mm and virtually every reel change was botched somehow. Horrible sight lines, too - I sat behind people with big hair and strained to see the screen for much of the movie. Won’t come back here unless I can’t see a movie anywhere else.

Intimate space with a good-sized screen and very good sound. Easy to become immersed in the movie. Eclectic selections, check before you go

Very uncomfortable seats(old style). Screen is very small. Poor audio. They had technical issues where subtitles were not showing for a movie and technician was off and the operator couldn't fix it.
