Best Arthouse theater around! Yearly showings of Jaws(Princeton duh) Casablanca and more! Only two screens but very well maintained. Great Staff! Become a member today!

Goni Halevi

My favorite place in Princeton! I see almost every movie that plays at the Garden because the selection is so well-crafted and I love supporting this local non-profit theater. They have nice special events like the Hollywood Summer Nights series, too. I am proud to be a PGT member.

It's a small (two-theater I believe?) place, but everyone is extremely polite and it makes for a nice night out if you're not a fan of going to the massive cine-mega-plex'es to see Chimpmunks 4: Montezuma's Revenge. If you see they're re-airing an old movie, definitely go! They were showing the Director's Cut of Blade Runner and it sold out on a Thursday!

Julie Kwong

Clean, convenient, great rates for students, and in a great location!

Movies are low end, probably free to theater. You are likely better off watching YouTube at home or at the park. But we use it with our kids when it rains and you need roof and coffee and place to sit for an hour waiting for rain to stop.

John

Poor choice in movies playing for quite ahwile now. Seriously how long are you going to show the film I am not your Negro?

Patrick Kelly

Shalu Thaman

Cutest movie theater ever !

Melissa Stefun

This place is adorable and has pretty good visual and audio quality for a small theater. It was clean and very reasonably priced. They do play ads before the feature film so it’s ok if you are a little late.

Jennifer Ng'andu

Cute indie theater, good snacks, okay theater screens, friendly staff.

Anne Racioppi

This is a cute place to see a movie in town. What sets them apart is the selection. This is where you can go for independent or limited release films. As an example, I came here to see Wild during its prerelease.

Rafael Oliveira

Great movie selections and very friendly staff. Plus the popcorn is very good there

Fran Fox

Paz Tarrio Berjano

H. P. L. Molloy

Comfortable environment for movie viewing.

Lee Goldberg

An old time downtown theater with comfortable seating and modern projection equipment. Their bills are usually a smart mix of art house films and some of the best popular movies.

Bradford Casey

The Princeton Garden Theatre remains a great spot to see a movie. Cozy and unique, with a historical feel, but equipped to show modern digital prints. The theatre is always clean, the seats comfortable, and the staff friendly. It's my favorite place in the area to see a film.

Good selection. Reserved seats would rate a 5.

Bryan Strang

Wish there was such thing as a middle seat in this place. Programming wise though, it's the best movie theater (or theatre) in the state.

Abbas Abdulmalik

Satish Shikhare

Small two screen cinema. Plays independent and artsy movies. seating is ok. Street parking only.

Georgianne Vinicombe

Came for a screening of Talking Heads' album Stop Making Sense. The ticket price was affordable with my student discount ($7 vs 14). The concession stand is small but has the essentials. The theatre was small, very clean and featured classic movie theatre seating. Although the room itself was small - there was plenty of room for dancing and enjoying a great show.

Eric Chang

Quaint little theater with top notch projection. Great atmosphere with a nice selection of independent films.

Gail Woolley

David Carbone

Old style movie theater with fresh, tasty popcorn, etc and affordable prices. No reclining chairs but comfortable seating with typical movies but also special attractions and events you can't find anywhere else.

Liberty Street

The only movie theater worth going to. Terrific selection of movies; reasonably priced; and (generally) a quiet crowd.

Sam Dale

Great little theater with good prices. It is a tad confusing when they get the big new movies, since they only play two at a time.

Kimberly Abram

Lovely quaint theatre. Nostalgic and cozy

Fausto Martelli

Very nice and charming, but the seats at 1 meter from the screen are indications that what is more valuable is to pack people and gather money, instead of letting people to relax and enjoy the movie. You may end up in one of these sits in the weekend, and the personnel don't even worn you when you buy the ticket.

Brad Harrington

A great place to see movies (tonight it was "The Big Sick"! Good concession stand too.

Rayon Nelson

Chris Deephouse

Great place to see arts and vintage films.

George Telegadis

5 stars for being the only arthouse theater in the general greater Princeton area for film selection. 3 stars for the relatively tired facility and seating.

MONAPER75

Great time at the Oscars Viewing party! Popcorn, water, tea, & Coffee were provided. Other snacks were also sold. Oscar ballots available, and some giveaways during commerical breaks during the red carpet. #goodtimes #OscarAwards2019 #andtheoscargoesto...

I come here every year for the Nassau film festival. I have a friend is a film critic and he scream films here. Have a good projector and a decent sound system the seats are excellent every one of them has a good view. It's a cute little theater it's quite functional.

Paul Brown

Not too many screens. Programming is decent, but not as good as the nearby Montgomery Cinema (though they now share an owner, I believe).

Alan Klugman

Love this place and you save money

Montana Goodman

The kindest staff and most thoughtful management:)

Adam Bauser

This might be my favorite place in all of Princeton. It's not the fanciest theatre but the special programming and the friendly staff are the best. If you love movies you'll love the Garden.

Theresa Di’vanto

Love going to Garden theater,!!! So mych better than big over priced theaters! it's super friendly and the staff are extremely nice. They show really fantastic films, clearly carefully chosen for their artistic merit not just their popularity. Never to busy that you can’t get great seats! ❤️

Francisco

My wife and I enjoyed the theater. Small and not pretentious but very clean. Staff was excellent along with the film presented. (Aretha Franklin's Amazing Grace)

Patrena Murray

Love this movie theatre. Honestly, more like an art house, which I love. This is not where you come for mindless movies, they show movies with substance. Movies that you can discuss over dinner/dessert/drinks. I really like this place.

Jen Lyon

On Nassau Street in Princeton New Jersey there is a movie theater. Is it the biggest? No. Does it have the most screens? No. Is it one of the greatest movie theaters I have been to In My Life? Yes. The Princeton Garden Theatre is a treasure in the Princeton community. People from all walks of life come to the Princeton Garden Theatre to see a wide range of movies. From smaller independent movies to reach showing classic blockbusters. Some days I'll just walk by get a ticket and see random movie. Other times I'll plan out a viewing maybe a year away. If you're wondering that movie is Jaws which they always show in June. It's become a great tradition between me and my friends. The staff is fantastic always kind always polite. The railings as you walk up the steps in the theater are beautifully crafted. The seats are comfortable but they're not recliners or lazy boys. Their chairs meant for a theater. There to make you comfortable but not there to put you to sleep. Do yourself a favor friends and experience the movie at this wonderful theater.

Cadee Qiu

Love going to Garden theater, it's super homey and the staff are extremely nice. They show really fantastic films, clearly carefully chosen for their artistic merit not just their popularity. The theaters are not usually crowded so you can get great seats!

Avaneesh Narla

Great indie movies! Comfortable seats, and relatively cheap

Chuck Johnstone

A quaint little independent theater with all of the "charms" that come along with it. It doesn't have all of the frills and amenities of the big chains but it does have water in a box. The staff is friendly, the place is vkean, and the selection of movies is good.

Chandra Kanth Reddy

Only classic films and the theater is really bad. Better go to AMCs

Dhruv Seth

Kevin Kilkuskie

Great place to see a movie. Even the pre-movie ads are less annoying than a megachain theater. The seats don't have great legroom for taller people, but it's a small price to pay for the experience.

Dan Audrey

Princeton's own art house cinema. Rarely shows a bad flick. Fab that you don't need to drive there.

Douglas Cleary

Dennis Augustus

Classic small town theater

Monique McRae

Very nice and clean

Lauren Kopcow

Shurik Yatom

Much cheaper than AMC with a small and comfy feeling. Mostly screen "quality" content rather than blockbusters.

Blue Thunder Somogyi

Great twin theatre with Small World coffee, fresh popcorn, and eclectic range of movie selections.

S Schroeder

An awesome movie theatre gem. A community institution since 1920, this classic two-screen theatre has seen a real resurgence under the current management. Programming is an eclectic mix of first-run art films, classic Hollywood and foreign films, HD theatre plays and opera, plus museum tours and artist retrospectives from around the world. Special events include Hollywood Summer Nights, featuring great movies from the 1920s to the 1980s, silent films with live musical accompaniment, and Prof Picks, showcasing films selected and introduced by local university professors. An excellent membership program offers discounts off already-reasonable ticket prices, plus exclusive events. The staff is young, friendly, and wild about movies. A true Princeton treasure.

David Keddie

A great independent movie theater. Special showings weekly of classic films and Saturday morning matinees of classic children's movies. First run films of the high-brow sort. Special screenings with talks from noted directors.

Steve Brown

Fantastic art house/independent movie theatre. Great selection of films, really comfortable accommodations. Hardly ever packed, which is a shame because they always feature such a nice selection.

Nerdy Bird

Very atmospheric

Brendon Rose

Cheap tickets and Highly acclaimed classic/Indy films.

Joseph Bezek

Local favorite for tasteful and special interest films

Laura Hall

Rob Silvagni

The theater is small but it has been updated with a stadium seating. They don't offer any of the more traditional perks like free parking, or online ticket ordering.

Andy Pober

Great films. Great staff. Fine theater with fine refreshments.

Mark Branon

Andrea Crocco-Varela

This place is still the way your neighborhood theater was back before it was taken over by AMC. You can walk there from just about anywhere in town, and afterwards you can treat yourself to something within a few blocks.

Sophie Pastore

A favorite place to go for indie and art films! Always a pleasant visit!

Julia Wong

The Garden went through some minor (and much needed) renovations since changing ownership. It's still the quaint, local theater that I know and love - two screens, a small concessions stand, and friendly faces. In addition to the major films that show there, they also play much smaller, independent movies, host film festivals (they played a different Hitchcock film each week and brought in a live band to play the score!!!), do Q&As with directors, and run family-friendly events. If you're a local and love going to the movies, I recommend becoming a member to support the non-profit.

Charles Heckscher

Movies like the old days, but with digital projection. Intimate theaters, great selection, right in town/

D Nazario

I was here for an Award Event and not a movie but the venue is very formal and comfortable. A nice cozy feel inside the theater.
