This is my favorite theater. It's a small local place (or at least feels like it) and it's never too busy. Matinees are still $5 and the seat are all the comfy recliners. If you're a big person (tall, overweight, broad) like me then it's a dream to be able to sit in a seat without feeling like you're laying on the person next to you. I will say, it's an old building so it's not "stadium" seating. There's a gentle slip which is always enough for me (again...tall) to see but might be tough if you get a tall person in front of you. That said, I've never seen a room full so you can probably just move seats if needed. There's IMAX and I've never noticed a 3D option so know that going in. If you want a big fancy movie theater with a meal this isn't it. It's an old, run down local place with nice seats and a cheap ticket price. Again...I love this place.

This is a nice movie theater located in Clifton they have specials on Wednesday you can watch any movie for $5 you can't beat that price plus you get free popcorn....even though it's salty it will make you thirsty enough to buy your drink for more than what you paid for the movie

I don't mind the fact that the theaters are small, I expect that. But the chair I had to sit in was broken. It was an aisle seat. I had to hold the side of the chair that was on the aisle up the entire time. If it was more expensive, I would've given a lower rating.

Cant give less then 1 star, this place is a -1. Gross, hot , dirty, and yellow tape on the ground "police line do not cross" looked like there was a elephant that destroyed 25% of the theaters seats. Or a gang fight.. maybe ninja turtles battled the foot soliders. From the reviews about rats, one being splinter wouldn't surprise me. If i was smarter I would have asked for a refund and streamed movies for free, with the ac off, at home. Cant give less than one star.

This was my worst cinema experience ever. The staff is unfriendly and the volume was very low. Besides, it rained into the cinema which was very loud and made the whole floor wet. The screen was therefore very dirty because of the dripping. Not to mention the enormous prices.

I honestly can not believe that this place is still opeb!!! I actually got a full refund!! I was not about to stay at this movie theater, it’s so disgusting I was really lost for words. And the sad thing is the employees knew it was so dirty in there because they didn’t even give me a hard time getting my refund back. I would not recommend no one to go there ! I don’t care how cheap they are they are so dirty and this place should be closed down!!!

Theater is dirty, it smells and chairs are falling apart. No AC in theater rooms to top it off. I swear if I had known this before hand I would have not come here. This is my 1st and last time here. There should be a sign in front of the theater that states, " ENTER AT YOUR OWN RISK ".

Pros: cheap, friendly staff, some theatre rooms looked nice, Cons: the theatre (room 2) I was supposed to be in was the worst theatre room I've ever seen, to the point I tried to escape out the back door (but it was locked) and didn't want to ask for a refund because they clearly needed the money more than I did. There were holes in armchairs stuffed with trash, a seat across the room, rips in the seats, and just...it wasn't good. Why I'm giving a 3/5 is because I checked the other rooms and they were good, and because the guy behind the counter gave me a no questions asked refund. I would return, but would definitely not go into room #2.

Ok prices. $10 for adults, $8 for kids. The popcorn was cold & full of kernals. The air wasn’t on it was so stuffy, the film was so low (volume) for Ugly Dolls. I took my 4 year old. All we could hear was the BOOMING of the Avengers.Also the man in front of me his chair arm, the whole side of the chair fell off two times during the movie! I mentioned it to the girls at the front & they said really? And went back to texting and looking at their phones!

I wish it was a better place. The theater is desolated, and falling apart. you can't find seats because they are broken or too dirty. and one you leave you should wash your clothes. Yet, brings nostalgia because the place has potential. It would've been a great place to bring your kids for a movie. The tickets are cheap and it is in a good area. but it needs a lot of maintenance.

When I entered, the place looked clean, organized, and professional. The staff were very nice. They gave my dad an entire bag full of popcorn, and for no charge! I ordered the tickets online on their own website! The prices were fairly good. I didn't even care if some parts of the theater were broken, ripped, etc. The movie was the only thing that was important for me to watch. I will always come to this theater to watch. Thank you. By the way, I watched Avengers: Endgame! It was actually the best and greatest movie of my life! This was the main conclusion of the MCU Movies. I will not spoil anything. Please watch it, enjoy it, and leave a like on the movie on Google. :)

Nice place to watch a film if you want to avoid the heavy crowd. Monday thru Thursday (SUMMER SPECIAL) all films before 5pm are $5 after that only $10 (without tax). Cannot beat that deal

Theater is very old and in need of a lot of maintenance. Some sections of seats are roped off because they are broken. Small parking lot so I had to park on street. Matinee ticket pricing of $5 was excellent.

Chairs were downright right uncomfortable. I asked if the AC was on was told yes even though it wasn't. It was so hot in there I wanted to leave the second we got in. We were the only people watching the movie. The popcorn and nachos both were overpriced and stale. Hands down never going again!

This place is DISCUSTING when I was there I encountered 3 spiders and 1 HUGE spider web the chairs are all either torn up or they put a tarp on top in order to hide the atrocities underneath. We waited for 30 mins and there was still an issue with the projectors. the staff was very limited and the one worker basically laughed at us when we asked for a refund eventually she got on the phone with her manager and made it happen. Me and my mom were the only ones in the theater except the flies mosquitoes and spiders lurching around, if you count them many would say the theater was packed. we are still itching even tho we left the theater 10 minutes ago. Someone pls alert an exterminator of some sort the place could rlly use one.

This staff is very friendly. The prices are great. But on cleanliness it's all different. Last time I went to watch "It" I was with my best friend. And we literally saw a mouse. We were very frightened. We literally jumped onto our seats. And the movie had not even started and we had to watch the rest of are movie with a roaming mouse our theater. When we called for the worker she took it as joke and said " Well if you see it again do not call for me I am highly scared of mice."

This is not the theater I remember from when I was a kid. The lobby is dingy, the theaters are dirty, the chairs are ripped to shreds, and worst of all, the sound (I was in theater 5) has issues. The dialogue in the movie was very muffled and quiet and during action scenes, it was almost completely unintelligible. Maybe the center channel isn't working correctly. They refused giving me a refund, but gave me free tickets to come back again.

This place used to be great as a kid when i went there. Now its kind of dull. But i still come here from time to time because its cheap and good place for kids. I just get annoyed that theres simple things they could fix. Like the chairs, lights (sometimes dont work), and the a/c. Now i dont expect much when i pay a good price for something or get a really good deal but cmon. These kinds of things are fixable. At least improvise if its a money issue! I really hope this place doesnt end up being shut down and hope someone would invest to make it slightly better. Because amc is way overpriced! And i would like to continue to still go here.

A good small quiet theater to go to if you want to see some of the latest movies without breaking the bank. Mon-Thurs is $5 tickets before 5 pm. Some theaters have reclining chairs 4 stars because the place does need to be updated although they have been working on it.

I’ve been to this theatre a few times in the past. Local theaters are hard to come by in this area. I have to admit the atmosphere is pleasant. I went to see Avengers Infinity War and I had a very pleasant experience. If you’re not a person who likes crowded places this one is for you. This place is a hidden gem. But it does have some flaws as with most old local movie houses there’s a little bit of maintenance that the place needs but all in all it was a pleasant experience.

Definitely a decent experience for a reasonable price. It's definitely a local theater with local pricing which is always good for going out on a budget. The staff is nice, and the movie selection is varied. The only complaint I have is the floor on Theater 6 from my movie last night, Godzilla: King of Monsters. I felt the floor was sticky from moving my legs. After the theater, my friends and I checked our shoes and saw some sticky material on the sole of our shoes, like stickers or paper with bubble gum on it. Other that that, a good experience overall.

Bought tickets online as part of their $5 ticket Tuesday. Seats were comfy and plush and the floor clean. Nachos and large soda were $16 and that always seems steep, but that is no different from a chain movie theater. Will definitely be returning. If you buy tickets on Fandango, there is a $3 convenience fee. The movie we saw was not sold out so my wife and I might get our tickets in person next time.

I really enjoy this place. Small, never overcrowded, friendly staff. Only issue is cleanliness, but I think a large part of that is due to people who come there and proceed to trash the place. For example, they installed reclining chairs in the theaters at beginning of the year and within two months people had destroyed them, slashed them. So sad. Their bathrooms are immaculate!

My kids and I came to see toy story 4. The theater was packed and I asked the people at the front to turn on the AC 3 times and they never turned it on. Everyone was sweating and complaining and they did nothing about it. It was 87 degrees outside and it was cooler outside. Its the last time i will ever come here.

Came to see Rampage in theatre 5 for $5 Tuesdays. I LOVE this place as other homegrown, non-branded theatres have gone out of business. But when it comes to the quality of this particular theatre has gone downhill REAL quick. The leather "reclining" seats don't work, we discovered the wires have actually been cut! The leather on some seats has been torn and covered with separate pieces of leather, but just laid on top of! In search or suitable seats, my boyfriend wearing tightly tied construction boots, nearly had them RIPPED OFF BY THE STICKY FLOOR! I will be searching for a new, better maintaibed theatre to spend my money at. I'm sorry, I love this place, but after being a loyal customer of over 5 years, I think it's finally time to move on.

Absolutely ridiculous and choose as a last resort theater. Never ever returning again. My wife complained to the staff (their response was "it is the smell of popcorn", Who the Hell Are You Trying to Fool ???) there about how the seats were worn out, smelled worse than a skunk, and the floors were sooo sticky that I need to change my sneakers by the seats in theatre #5. We saw Detective Pikachu (the print of the film was good and clear which is why I gave it 2 stars instead of 1) and I had to step outside the place to get fresh oxygen and inhale normally. It is was serious life hazard and full of building violations. I wonder when this place had a health inspection because it must have failed for sure, no doubt about it. This place should not be allowed to do business at all. Never again returning, this is my honest to god opinion.

Took my daughter to see "Crazy Asians", the theater that we saw the movie was great with reclining chairs. After the movie ended i walked to other rooms,to my dismay, they were very out dated old &small chairs & dirty. If I were to fo back and got a different theater i woukd leave. The theater need allot of rennovations, but for the $5 entry fee well worth it

Most horrible place to see a movie with your family. Place was filthy, cold and the staff was not friendly at all after we asked for a refund right before showtime. My 6 year old sat on a seat that had worms. The staff 'ping-ponged' us about refund and said that theater owner restricted them for issuing refunds. Obviously people are doing it quite often. A total rip off. I had to buy another set of tickets for the same movie at AMC Clifton Commons. What a disgrace ! I will follow up and report it to NJ Department of Health and the Federal Trade Commision.

Upon entering the front door, I felt like taking a bath in Purell. It wasn't dirty, but it looked and felt like the theater had been there long enough for my grandmother to have seen her first movie as a child there. They promote having luxury reclining seats, but the reclining feature in every seat in the theater I was in didn't work and half the seats had torn cushions or broken back rests. I will never visit this theater again.

Worst theater EVER...in show room 6...more than half the chairs are broken..when I asked the staff about it they inform me they keep them unplugged. It's dirty, no previews played..one employee sat in concession area and spoke poorly of her coworker in front of everyone....other customers complaining about no air conditioning in the other rooms...they were literally sweating. I will NEVER COME BACK. SHAMEFUL AND DISGUSTING.

The place is in need of cleaning and renovation, the seats are worn out and the faux leather is peeling, the floors are filthy, and no one's been cleaning the seats. Despite this, they're rather comfy, and the ticket prices are good. The only major issues I had was that the movie started about 10 minutes late which had me a bit worried that an error might've been made, and they ridiculously overcharge on refreshments, even by movie theater standards! Six dollars for a small soda? You gotta be kidding me. I'd rather pay elsewhere a little more for the tickets and not get scalped on refreshments.

This theater has been here for.... Ever. I would not recommend looking for the highest quality movie experience when you go here, but then again you're not paying the highest quality dollars when you go here. for instance we've been here on days where the air conditioning is not working in certain theaters. But we rarely have to worry about crowds when we go here! they have a fantastic deal which is $5 before 5 p.m. during the week and we usually take advantage of that on a regular basis. you will see some reviews talking about the inside quality of this theater, however I don't think it's as bad as most people make it out to be and it varies from theater to theater some do have broken seats and they no longer seem to put the names of the movies up on the Marquee outside. However there is a booth outside that has a TV screen that goes tell you the times and names of movies playing. also in the world today modern technology such a cell phones you can you talk on your cell phone but in the Google maps app you can see the listing of movies playing right now from this page. Asfor us we will continue to go to the stator on a regular basis and support our local theater as I recommend others do.

I went to this theater tonight with my mother to see Show Dogs. I really wanted to see Show Dogs and couldn’t find any other theater that was showing it in the evening so we decided to go to a theater we’ve never been to. The theater was so hot, sweat was dripping down our backs. The popcorn was stale and cold. 2 out of the 3 women’s bathroom stalls were out of order and 1 out of the 3 sinks were also out of order. Old theater seats were piled against the wall in the corner of theater 6. We were just overall disgusted. We will never be going back.

It less expensive than other theaters in the area because they don't do 3D or iMax... But it's also not run as well. This is a small local theater with teens doing all the work so mistakes happen(like turning on the lights before a movie has ended). All in all not a terrible place but Clifton Commons is around the corner.

Worst. Theatre. Ever. They play TV commercials for over 20 minutes beginning at show time. Only then do they show a couple movie promos. Everything from overhead lights left on during a movie,to broken seats, to the AC not working, are routine. But it is the cheapest theatre in the area. Still.... Ugh!!!!

Went here awhile back w| my boyfriend. We went to see Halloween & I remember cracking up at them using the number 7 backwards to spell HALLOWEEN because they didn't have L's. Upon entering the theater, chairs were thrown in the corner. Overall I would visit again. It was lowkey & very quiet.

Quaint little theater with fair prices. It looks old and a little dingy but that's part of the charm. The recliners might not recline but that bathrooms are immaculate. Seriously. Best theater restrooms I've ever seen. Also, $5 tickets on Tuesdays? Please and thank you!!!

This theater has been renovated but the seats don't recline anymore. Ok sound & so so screens. They have matinee pricing & $5 Tuesdays. Parking is terrible.

Awesome place to watch movies! Staff is super friendly, prices are good, and the show quality is great. The ONLY dowside is that there are no reserved seating. Make sure to be there early to get yourself a good seat. If you're tired of big chain theaters, make this your new place to go!

It was a very nice area as it had what any other movie theaters have. The prices were very cheap too except for the snacks. Another downside of this theatre is that when i watched my movie, I went with a big group of people and they could almost not seat coming in after our group sat down.

They have good service but unfortunately the place is poorly kept. Broken seats, wall paper coming off the walls, fabric falling from the ceiling right in front of the screen, screen crocked, poor lighting (We actually thought they didn't want to turn on the light so people wouldn't see the mess the auditorium was). I was surprised to find a very clean bathroom. It was our first and last time , sorry for the employees but I would not come back.

It was 1st time here. Filthy and employees just sitting around instead of trying clean theater lounges before audience entry. Usher/cashuer don't disclose NON REFUNDABLE ticket purchase until after, when youg realize the poor condition the screening rooms are in. I had to demand a refund due to the delay in seating before start of film. 12 minutes before, and everyone ...is standing around because theater is dirty still. Management or owners need to make changes and renovate seating and lighting. Column/Pole in theater 4, will cause an injury. Seats currently are lopsided and smell of urine. Oct 2018

Love to shop local but this place makes it difficult, - doesn't feel clean and isn't. Sad. The staff are wonderful and the daily discounts are great. The disarray and condition of the interior are not inviting.

Been here before never had an issue. Today nothing but problems. They are undergoing renovations and no one seemed to know which movie was where. Then upon entering the threate it was so dark we couldn't even see the seats never mind pick one. We had to ask them for some light apparently they had forgotten to turn them on after the last viewing. It was sweltering hot so we had to ask them to turn the heat down at which point they blasted the ac. We sat in pitch black for 20 minutes before movie finally started.

I remember going to this theater for many years even as the theater split up into 6 little screens and changed ownership over time, from locally owned to United Artists to Clearview to Bow Tie and now Empire Cinemas, which has renovated some seats and upgraded all screens to digital and 5.1 sound. Since then, the Clifton Quad has become a walgreen's and the Clifton Commons has updated its two thx screens into imax and dolby screens and raised its prices since taking over from General Cinema in 2001. I'd be surprised if this theater survives...

Worst cinema ever! Now seriously... disgusting popcorn, the seats are not comfortable, the angle of the screen was really bad for the neck and the audio was quite. But the absolute “highlight” was that middle in movie screening water started to pour down in front of the screen and nobody cared.

I would give zero stars if I could! This place is too horrible to have a star rating of 3.8! - Firstly, the screen is NOT in the center. Since we were sitting to the edge by the time we left the theater we had stiff necks! - The quality of the projection is terrible. It's as if you're watching a movie on the wall of your house using a lopsided projector. - The screen had some sparkly stuff on it right in front of where we were sitting. Come on! If you can't keep the theater clean at least keep the screen clean! - And the chairs are supposedly recliner but the ones we were sitting on were broken. I'd prefer non-broken normal seats. BAD BAD choice ! I do NOT recommend this theater at all! Please do yourself a favor and pick a better theater!

What is there to say about the Allwood Theater? Well it's an old theater. The people are very nice the screens work when the sound is good. Chairs are old rooms are outdated but it's a really good place to go because it's not usually packed the theaters are quiet and the popcorn is fresh. I like it there it's actually my theater of choice

I was so disgusted by the atmosphere I didn't even bother watching the movie nor getting a refund. Wish I would have read the reviews ahead of time. The seats were dirty and some were roped off by caution tape. The screen was dented in. I could not sit comfortably because I kept thinking a mouse was going to run across my feet.

The theater was very dirty and cold. The screen wouldn't work at some point also. The bathroom was clean though so that's good. The drinks were really expensive for no reason. It was quiet tho and not very packed.

I am giving this theater 4 stars because movies here are $5 most days & times to see, which is really a great price to see new movies. I take the kids because it is a nice walk from the Allwood library. That having been said, the facility itself is in dire need of a remodel. Many of the theaters have broken chairs.
