My family and I have gone here for years. It IS a very nice theater and I remember being ecstatic when they finally made it so you could use a card and not cash only. But it has been very hard to go back here after our last experience.
I was there with my husband and three kids. After confirming the amount of tickets and I had placed my card in the chip reader, the young girl at the register TOLD me to pull my card. Like an idiot I did and apparently the transaction wasn't complete. The tickets did not print and when we tried again it came back "insufficient funds". I got out of the line and checked my bank statement online and I showed the manager that the money had been taken from my account. He basically told me they don't deal with the funds and it will be automatically reimbursed since it said on the screen that the transaction was terminated.
Don't get me wrong, I do understand. And my account was reimbursed... Three days later. But I don't carry credit cards and I didn't have enough money to buy 5 more tickets. It was very hard to walk out with three kids under the age of ten after being very excited about going to the movies- which is something we don't do very often.
I'm not asking for sympathy. I do honestly blame myself for listening to the girl, rather than read the screen for myself. But the manager didn't even act sorry. I wasn't asking for a handout. I didn't expect free tickets. I just wanted to be treated like a human with compassion. To be coldly told, in more or less words, "it's not my problem" with out so much as a "I'm sorry this happened and it's out of my control, but I do hope you come back," makes me hesitate to return.
