REVIEWS OF Loring Hall Cinema IN Massachusetts

James Connelly

Loring ever so occasionally has a good movie, though typically these don't stay long (or like, say, "Mr. Turner" a good film arrives late at Loring, only after you've gone to Boston, Cambridge, or Newton to see it). Usually, Loring is the venue for feel-good movies -- repetitive, fungible "heart-warmers" for superannuated sensibilities (how many quirky Maggie Smith movies are there? or Helen Mirren as elderly-action-figure films?) -- and you can rely on these bookings to overstay their welcome by two, three, or more weeks. Despite the array of good movies to pick from, Loring can be relied on for "tasteful" schlock. Doubtless, it's the demands of box-office receipts just to stay in business. Loring needs to hire someone who still has a pulse to book its movies.

otis hill

OLD movie house with terrible seats, but often plays small movies of interest.

Theresa Morrell

Nice community theater; one screen, often shows independent films. Newer seating recently installed

Danny Kirschner

Cool one screen cinema. Good prices and retro vibe.

What this movie theater lacks in comfortable seating it makes up for in character. It is truly like stepping back in time I like to go to this movie theater to take advantage of the $5 all day matinee on Tuesdays and they play great independent films that aren’t always available at the bigger movie theaters.

Lisa Gillis

It was wonderful . Small and cozy, very clean.

Shelley Robbins

A great place to see movie's ! Also the mangers on Saturday's Sunday's and Tuesday are awesome they actually understand how to interact with new and faithful costermers! And never loosing your cool with a customer! I'm looking forward on seeing the basic of sex on January 11 .

teresa roberts

Tuesday features are only $5 all day long. Jam! Popcorn runs $5-7, and there's still only one screen. I take it Patriot Cinemas bought the building, so expect more mainstream indie flicks. Packed houses are constant, respectful patrons, clear sound and a squishy seats - especially when Alexander Hamilton pays for the date.

This is a true treasure New England Experience. I'm not sure what this hall used to be, but it's been turned into this old-school style movie theatre where they usually run slightly artistic flair movies (things that might not be generally played or receive short runs at the major theatres like AMC, Regal, etc.). They have a FULL concession stand too! The draw backs are it's public parking (or I haven't the found the private parking lot yet), the seats are a little outdated and maybe a little uncomfortable, I don't remember them having cup holders and a couple odd trifle things that are more than made-up for by this old fashioned wonderful experience!

Brett Smith

A nice historic theater in down town. It has a balcony. There's parking right in front of the theater and a big parking lot behind it. This includes handicap parking. Great staff. They show a lot of indie movies too.

Mark Lloret

Very nice atmosphere. Good movie, great price! I would drive again one hour just to spend a nice afternoon in thisctheatre.

Nice little movie house showing recent movies

Total small town feel, nice screen, good sound, reminds me of movie theater as a child

Deborah Tremblay

Loring Hall Theatre is a great place to catch a movie that would of not been at the big movie theaters. This is an older movie theater in the center of Hingham. Very quaint, fairly easy parking, then you go walk the "Square" after the movie for a bite to eat.

Sean DeNapoli

Jeff Lee

One screen, intimate, old movie house.

One of the last old fashion beautiful movie cinema’s

Kristen Wright

The Loring Theatre is one of Hingham's finest landmarks in my opinion. This Theatre is part of the small Patriot Cinemas chain (along with the Shipyard). Classic, small town, single screen venue filled with charm. I go here often to take advantage of the $5 all day, all ticket promotion they offer on Tuesdays. They rotate movies every few weeks or so and keep the place pretty tidy,

Joseph Rovetto

Old theater yet comfortable, saw a great movie at a really great price

Nathan Davis

Oozes charm and character. Suffers from less than comfortable seats and an elderly clientele that apparently never learned to be quiet during movies. Lots of loud chewing and "Honey, who's that?" whispered conversations?

Antonetta Fopiano

John Wallace

Old-time movie theater, with a balcony, where you can see fine films with your neighbors. I love the period fixtures in the restrooms, but not everyone will.

Richard Scott

Old fashioned movie house. Single screen. A step back in time.

DJ Kinney

Such a great local theater. They play independent and art house films, so sometimes it's the only place to go to see special flicks! Popcorn is good. I wish they had pizza and beer. But hey. It's Hingham. The stick up their ass is centuries old.

Quaint with a balcony

..this is the most relaxing theater around. A real throwback to the days when the popcorn didn't cost a fortune, the employees were courteous, and people didn't talk and text during a movie. Love this place!

Absolutely love this theater. In quaint downtown Hingham. They always get quality films. I hope it sticks around forever

Kathryn Earle

We've been going to the Loring Theatre for many years with friends, our kids (now young adults) at all ages, and each other. We love it! In our opinion it has all the amenities of a larger theatre AND the charm and ambience of a neighborhood theatre that some of us remember from our childhoods. Most importantly, the selection of movies is marvelous. I can't wait to see what's playing next...

Julia Jones
