Went here to see The Farewell. I enjoyed coming to this theater more than I had thought I would. Obviously, it's not like the typical chain movie theater. It has character and it was a pleasant evening out at the movies without lines to wait in, sticky floors, loudness of any kind (except for the movie). I'll be coming back, for sure.

Patrick Egan

This is a little gem of a movie theater, small, clean and reasonable prices.Total opposite of the supersize cinemas of today

Joey Merced

Quaint and the popcorn was some the best I've had at a theater. A hidden gem.

Nancy Murray

This theater looks like it did in the 1920s. It offers popcorn , teas, and European beers!! Few tables and chairs, and always an Art show from.local artists. I come often with friends

I love this place. Lovely old cinema building, showing art circuit movies, with a dedicated local audience. You can get a meal, ice cream, or even catch a band in Dedham Square while you are about it.

Ernie Cormier

Robert Mee

Great old art house. Don't live as close so don't go as often but worth the trip when I do.

Eli Reusch

The building, especially in the theaters, definitely needs some TLC, but they always bring the best movies. Also, you can't beat real butter on your freshly popped popcorn.

Super nice old theatre, with old fashioned popcorn, and a great bunch of folks that are welcoming and knowledgeable - and darn proud of their little corner of the universe! Also, the men’s room is clean, retro, and nicely looked after. Can’t speak to the ladies room. They seem to run flix ya gotta think about. Most recently really enjoyed Lady Bird. Karen & company, you guys are great!

The Dedham Community Theatre is located in the middle of Dedham Square. This quaint renovated theatre. All the movies that are here are good ones. They have welcoming staff, fresh popcorn and beverages, even wine. The theatre is comfortable and fun because of t's old fashion charm. The are many coffee shops and restaurants in the square for before or after the movie enjoyment!

I absolutely love, love, love this place!! I like that I can enjoy a beer or wine w/ my movie. Popcorn & candy are available as well. It is a Community Theater. It used to have the Museum of bad art which is now at Davis Sq theater. ( another great spot). It does not have the huge reclining seats. It has two theaters. It is the closest theater to me ( 10 min from my home). You are supporting a local theater, not a massive superplex with 12, 18 theaters.

Superb for the last 60 years, and better yet in the last two decades under the McMurtry mantle.

Mrs. Garland H. Hunt

Great local theater!!! I dislike the multi-plex-cinema-plex-quadaplex mall stadium movie theaters for particular films. Dedham is just right, like the Cable Car in Providence, RI.

Elayne Clay

Love this quaint theater

Paul Bauer

Jansen Wendlandt

Better maintained than most old-time/historical theaters. The seats were comfortable at first, but the cushions showed their age towards the end of the movie. The projector is a bit loud, so sit further from the back if the background noise will bother you.

Dedham Community Theatre is from the pre-multiplex era and has all the feel of a small town movie theater--which, of course, it is. Let's start with parking which is never a problem. The theater is on Dedham Sq. Across the street is a free town lot. The two screens are perfectly adequate for he types of movies shown. In other words, no SurroundSound etc. But your viewing "experience" will be fine. Plenty of seating. These are not little "slot" auditoriums. The DCT tends to show off-beat, quirky, independent films. The refreshment counter is fully stocked. One can order beers and more. The staff is unfailingly friendly and helpful. I believe that the theater is protected by a law that states its building cannot be used for anything other than showing movies. So it will be around longer than you or I. Give it a try. It's a good little movie house.
