This is a small, intimate theater. I gave it 4 stars because it looks like it is still undergoing some cosmetic matainence. They still host a number of events, including a holiday fair that I attended. There were vendors of all sorts there, and tours brought you around to see and talk about the theater. If you are down in the area, stop in and check it out!

Daniel Crow

Beautiful old theater.

Saw They Might be Giants. $25 tickets, gen admission. Very mellow fun crowd, no rush to get seats. Sat at the soundboard, fantastic stage view and sound. The performance was unforgettable. The theater is a reminder of the past, in reasonable condition. I will definitely be back.

Love seeing my fav local musicians there! Love the old timey comfy theatre vibes! Hate the really small seats on the top floor. Like if you're over a women's size 14, prepare to extremely close to anyone who sits next to you. If you're over a size 18 prepare to feel like a giant, no joke my friend is a 3x the seats are extremely uncomfortable for him. He can barely get in and out. It's not good for the self esteem or comfort. My only dread when coming here.

We went here to see a movie, Slice, around Halloween. The theater is intimate and has a large screen. Unfortunately for us the disc was scratched and we did not get to complete the movie (only about 7min were left). But they gave us a full refund and apologized. I will definitely keep a look out on what movies are showing because it was a cool venue to see a movie.

Awesome events! Both the small and large theatres within are great spaces -- I have seen some fantastic shows in both (I love the intimacy of the small, upstairs space). Small beer/wine bar. No designated venue parking lot, but it's on a long main road with plenty of street parking options.

The Columbus Theater is one of Providence's many hidden gems. This former 20's era vaudeville house and movie theater was run down for many years, but a 2012 renovation has restored this beautiful landmark theater. Its original turn-of-the-century "Italianate" Palace design is beautifully displayed both outside and in. The space is large and contains two theater spaces, one upstairs that seats 200 and the main space downstairs that seats 800. All the sight-lines are great and unobstructed from every seat in the house. The projection and audio systems are high tech and up to date as well, making it an excellent venue for film screenings and live performances.

Lionel Gamache

Wow. This theater is so amazing. Old and atmospheric. It's another one of the many things to love about Providence, RI. We had a blast seeing the Dunwich Horror Picture Show there as our last Necronomicon 2019 event.

Peter Dlugosinski

Lovely old theatre. Accoustics were great for Godflesh. Very relaxed atmosphere. Well run.

Todd Bowes

Surprisingly decent place to see heavy music. The seating makes for a comfortable evening.

We saw Mitski upstairs at the Columbus Theater and it was amazing but I'm sad to say I have 1 complaint. The chairs are so uncomfortable. I have a bad back and I was in pain for the entirety of the show and then some but it was worth it. You get really up close and personal and the sound is incredible.

Great venue. Large theater for big shows and an intimate small theater upstairs for smaller shows. Beer, wine, soft drinks and snacks available for purchase. Parking may be difficult. Some nice places nearby to eat before the show (Jillian's).

Beautiful old theater. Very intimate place to see a concert!

Ashley Moore

Beautiful venue, good audio for concerts, not great for film. Fantastic look, caring, gorgeous staff. It’s always a treat to see a show here.

daupo daupomatic

Charming old revival house, building back up from the brink of extinction, worthy of spending time in.

Rochelle Lee

Cool, old style theater in heart of an old neighborhood; has many original design features, notable architectual beauty and presence but contemporary and convenient. Parking can be a challenge.

Anne Tait

Avi Jacob

Great place to see a show!

Fred Moreau

Nice venue being held back by lack of investment. Needs a deep clean desperately and a capital infusion. Route some capital towards the basics and getting a bar upstairs. Most shows take place upstairs while the main theater downstairs doesnt get used too often.

I recently saw a show and was really disappointed at how much noise there was around me. Selling candy and snacks really takes away from the experience of people who are there to actually enjoy live music. I really don't want to listen to someone loudly shaking a box trying to find a blue M&M in a dark theater after I paid for great seats to see my favorite musician. I know staff can only control so much, but there are no rules or announcements about phone usage and remaining quiet for the duration of the show. I sat in the center second row, and women in front of me in the front row were using their cell phones and talking while a staff person sat at the front and did nothing. It's disrespectful to the musicians and annoying for people who are serious fans. The theater itself is beautiful, but I won't be returning.

Christopher Brewer

One of the best sounding venues I've ever been to

Nora Kaszuba

Have seen many great shows here in this lovely, old-fashioned theater. Wish they had parking...you have to comb the streets looking for a place to park.

Katarina Ezikovich

It's always great to see shows here, the facility is pretty large and can seat quite the crowd. The history and decor is fantastic and practically a character unto itself. The bathrooms are always clean and operational, I've never had any problems in there. The bar has the usual fare you'd expect, but also some interesting and creative house cocktails. The prices for those are fair, however they ONLY accept cash at the bar.

Todd Bowes

Surprisingly decent place to see heavy music. The seating makes for a comfortable evening.

Visited this venue for the first time to see the Benny's Musical. The space was charming, and I liked how the balcony is used as a secondary performance space for smaller productions. I will be back to see more shows in both areas of the theater. The staff members are friendly and very efficient at handling large crowds.
