The Strand Theater is on main street in the wonderful town of Rockland. Walking in you are transported to what a movie theater must have been like in the 40's. We attended a live telecast of an opera being performed at the New York Metropolitan Opera. How cool is that. We sat in the balcony and had great site lines to the movie screen. The strand is worth a visit.

This is a beautifully restored and preserved theater. It is community supported (and you and I can be supporting members!). The Strand hosts live performances, of music, stand-up, and more. Art house or limited run films are also scheduled here. There is a classic snack bar in the lobby. There is balcony seating available. Depending on the performance, the balcony is age restricted because there is a bar there. The lower level is where you will find clean bathrooms. Parking is available in the municipal lot around the corner in front of CMCA.

The Strand Theater is right out of the 1940's era. The staff including Liz the manager, Billie who works the concession bar and Susan the ticket lady are friendly and make you feel do welcome. You will love the place and the movie and opera selections are outstanding. You are in for a treat at the Strand.

My wife and I went to go see the movie thug Life and come to find out they're not just an old school movie theater they are also a live theater that plays a bunch of entertaining events every week and there's something to do everyday. It is a great place to either take your family or it's a bars open a place to go with your spouse or friends for a night and just relax. The strand is set in a 1960s 1970s theme with an opera theatre style seating. I would highly recommend sitting in the balcony where it is easier to see everything and it is a lot easier to get to anything else but please be warned it is not handicap accessible to get the balcony you may need extra assistance getting in as to the main platform require stairs

Saw Ghost of Paul Revere tonight!! Excellent performance, great little theater, my only complaint is the size of the chairs because I'm a very large man and it was a tight squeeze. Other than that, great experience! I recommend this theater for sure

The Strand is a great gift to Rockland and the mid coast of Maine. A wonderfully, comfortable and intimate environment very much unlike the sterile strip mall theaters of this world. Sound and acoustics are great and I disagree with one of the other reviewers about the prices at the concession. They are right in line with what it takes to help support this amazing place!
