REVIEWS OF Railroad Square Cinema IN Maine

Never really been here

Cameron Porter

Fantastic snacks, frequently has awesome films you can't find anywhere else in the area. Theatres themselves are kind of quaint, you won't be finding the newest and greatest viewing technologies here, but this is totally offset by the fact that they can and do the opposite; I would rather see Solaris on 35MM that Transformers 4 3D. If you're like me in that regard, this place is perfect.

Claire Prontnicki

This is a great place: they show the most interesting films, including some that can't be found anyplace else in the area; there are write-ups available for most films, to read while you wait for the show to start; the people who work here are regulars, so that there's always a familiar face, and most of them really seem to be ardent film buffs; and there's an ever-changing display of original art on the walls. Even the popcorn counter is a piece of original art by a former local. This isn't just a shopping-mall copy of every other chain cinema; Railroad Square is Waterville's own unique art cinema. It feels homey.

Excellent movie. Went to see Megan Kleary. The only problem was the way the seats are. The first seats we sat in seemed low so if someone sat in front of me I wouldn't be able to see. Moved on row down and it was better, the seats were higher, so check out the seats. Great popcorn with real butter!

Doug Wescott

Christian Doiron

A small and charming cinema that often shows films other bigger theaters don't.

S Pelletier

This theater is outstanding. They play the BEST selection of independent films. I can honestly say I've never been disappointed in ten years! Look for their Maine Film Festival in July to support talented local artists. Their popcorn is also fabulous. Do not skip the butter (as I do at conventional theaters) because these guys use REAL butter, not that fake orange oil!

Don Fairchild

Nice (non-profit) movie theater. When we go to the theater we expect to be entertained. We do not appreciate being given lectures on the current political environment. Numerous pre-show viewings are given to you in an attempt to "correct" your views on current events going on today. We did not pay an entrance fee to be lectured on, we came to see a specific movie. We don't expect to return to this theater, besides the seats are not comfortable.

Jeff Chetkauskas

Prices are too high for a theater that shows primarily independent films. The arm rests don't move, making the seats uncomfortable for plus sized guests. Only reason I am even giving 4 stars is because the employees there were really nice, and the place was clean and well decorated.

Ashley McCollor

Jill Stepniak

Excellent customer service, with a neat vibe and of course all those great movies! A true treasure!

Emilie Vashion

Went to see Judy. Very sad , but excellently performed.

Maria Mann

Great place to watch movies.

Crystal Jacques

Films chosen by people who truly love movies! Popcorn to die for. Cutest little theater with art in the lobby and fun snack/drink choices that you can't get at corporate theaters. Perfect spot to see that cool movie you heard about online and have no idea where to see it... Super worth checking out especially if you're local! Annual film festival every summer.

Greg Gorham

Uhhh needs updating

The only place in town to see newly released indie films. Generally a very good selection. Only negative is that the seats are a bit uncomfortable.

Pamela Martin

Love it. Go as often as I can.

Donna Deigan

Seats are the most uncomfortable I have ever experienced in 50 years of going to the movies.

Lindsey Harwath

Fabulous theatre with wonderful selection of movies you can't find anywhere else. Very much enjoyed seeing With A Cup of Sugar on the big screen with the Director present!

Matt Gorman

A fine place to watch a movie. The popcorn is alright and the sodas come with a free refill. The chairs aren't as fancy as some places but they do just fine. We always have fun when we go there.

Dan Audet

Barbara O'Reilly

Great movie theater that shows indie films or as I've heard "movies for grown-ups". Perfect popcorn. Coffee, chocolate, baked goods. A good Mexican restaurant next door. What's not to love?!

The biggest problem with going to Railroad Square cinemas is the previews. Every film in the previews always looks incredible, and you will find yourself coming back week after week.

Lian Oyerbides

Really quaint cinema. Saw Loving Vincent and despite missing a minute or two of the movie due to a small power outage, I knew I wanted to go back and watch more of the films they had playing.
