This is a great small theater in Belfast. The old historical building is very cool. Movie prices are very reasonable, especially for matinees. You can get a beer at the snack stand, which is always a plus! There is no dedicated parking but it should be no problem to find a spot to park.

Just went here to see The Avengers:End game.....we sat up in the balcony seats. The theatre is cozy and comfortable. ...although I wished the seats were a little more comfy. ...but after watching a 3 hour movie, I doubt if any seat would be comfy enuff. For a historic establishment, I really love looking around at all the historic pictures and info they have hanging in the refreshment area. I had never been to a movie theater in such an historic building like that...versus all the new modern movie theaters. I look forward to visiting again....and hopefully see other artifacts I didn't see this time, while waiting for the movie to start.

It is not crowded. There is little to no wait at the box office. There are only 3 screens, but most popular movies are shown. Movies only in 1-2 weeks. Beautiful indoor decor and clean, classically styled theaters offer a great atmosphere. Screens are clean and have good picture quality.

Although this theater may have some appeal for being a very old theater, they lack modernization. When I first arrived it was a very cold night (15 degrees) and they had everyone lined up outside waiting to buy tickets. On a summer night I can see this being picturesque in a quaint little town by the sea, but on a freezing cold Maine winter night it was just obnoxious. Once at the ticket window they told me how much 3 tickets came to and as I proceeded to hand them my debit card they informed me that they are a cash only establishment. Not a big deal if I was a local and was aware that it was cash only. But they failed to post one sign in the entire building that informed anybody that they were CASH ONLY!! Beyond this, they never told me which way to get to the movie we were going to so we stumbled around for what felt like hours in underground passageways until eventually we found a theater. There were no movie signs to tell you which theater room was playing which movie (and no attendant) so we just had to wait and see when the movie started if we were in the right place. Lastly, the seats were so uncomfortable that by the end of a three hour movie I nearly called my chiropractor for an emergency night visit. Please make some improvements to this lovely old theater. It won't take away from it's charm, and you may find your business and customer satisfaction greatly improved.

A nice experience. This is a small three room theater with friendly staff and it is very clean. Cash only? Oh no! Might have to speak to one of the staff and ask them to point you to the nearest ATM, a block away at High Street Market. Such an inconvenience indeed! I bet you could even ask them to hold the movie for a minute and wait for you, because that's what this small town, community oriented theater can do. Find yourself wandering around in the colonial "for what feels like hours"? Better stop using psychedelics in public, as this seems to be a family friendly theater. Usually there is one movie on the lineup for a younger audience. A great place for a rainy, snowy, muddy or otherwise quiet coastal Maine evening.

The Colonial Theater in Belfast Maine is an ArtDeco cinema with three spaces for movies including a theater tucked in back of the others called Dreamland. There are no bad seats and they are very comfortable too. A genuine small town gem. Only issue is restrooms are on lower floor. Still worth visiting.

The woman selling tickets felt it was her place to decide whether a movie was appropriate for my child to watch. She admitted to not having even seen the trailer much less the actual movie. She also had no knowledge of my child’s age. Completely inappropriate behavior.

The Colonial is an experience. There are theaters that are larger and higher tech but not with the history of The Colonial. Plus when do you get to sit in the balcony in modern theaters?

I love this theater! It's a very characterful place conveniently located in the heart of downtown Belfast showing a range of films you won't typically find at the big-box Mall cinema. Probably the only the theater in the world with an elephant on the roof.

This iconic small town theater survives, despite the megaplexes an hour's drive away. I don't know why anyone would appreciate the offense and assault of a $15 dollar movie in augusta anyway. Here, prices are good.

It was a quaint theater and the style is really nice. This would be a good spot for young people to do a photo shoot. The sound is kind of hard to hear but I went on Sunday which had closed captioning.
