REVIEWS OF Village 8 Theatres IN Kentucky

STEPHONIE Arnold

This used to be the place to go I had a good time coming here again

Angel Hood

Awesome pricing, and they've usually got that movie you didn't have time to see when it came out. Love love love everything from service to experience. Mng. Matt has been so kind to our family and other patrons we've seen.

Gary Mattingly

Cheap price. Place is clean. Friendly staff.

Pamela Korfhage

Good price for seniors having an inexpensive date night.

Walter Jones

Not bad good price. Clean theater Tuesday special.

Jasmine Pharram

I love this theater because its prices are the best for folks on a budget. Free refills on large popcorn and drinks. And clean bathrooms and seats. It's old school but still nice and the folks are polite.

Andrew Pierce

If you really don't care about seeing movies as soon as they debut, and like the thought of saving money on tickets and concessions...then this is the place for you. Certainly it's the place for me. Nothing fancy at all about the place, but they get good movies there and it's extremely affordable.

Tommie Martin

Saw the upside with Kevin Hart good movie thumbs up ( with my FB hand)

Aniya Johnson

Prices are great for the tickets and the concession as well. There was also a good selection of movies and of course the sound in the theater was great. The theater was well cleaned too.

_Sabathia _

For the price and we'll kept theater, you can't beat it

Sherry Lynn

Clean ..cheap and convenient but their.. chairs could use head rests for better comfort

Becky Taylor

Good place for a cheap movie.

Diane Walker

Excellent always! Saw "Late Night"...great movie. Well done!

Rob Pribish

Good second run/budget theater. Popcorn was good and tickets are crazy cheap. It's not going to be mind blowing quality of seats/projection. But again it's crazy inexpensive!

feefee bee

This theatre is not big on booking movies with black cast I called to see if they were going to have the intruders starring megan good and Michael ealy and once again I was told no

Andrea Kane

Great prices! It's a bit outdated and the theatre wasn't the most comfortable but I would reccomend this place because it is no frills and you get a lot for your money. I thought it was great that I got to watch the movie all by myself too! Their popcorn is way better than cinemark, more butter!

stephanie hedden

I went there, because my son wanted to see Venom and that was the only place it was still playing at. We went the first time and couldn't watch it due to a projector being down. Tried again the next week and was able to watch it. The place is rundown. The screens are really tiny compared to other cinemas. The staff burnt popcorn which stunk up the whole place. The bathrooms were terrible and smelled of urine. I was glad my son got to see his movie in the theater, but I hope I never have to go back there.

Robyn Locksley

Was there when this theatre first opened in the 70s, and it was very nice for a small multiplex. Bright, clean, giant images of classic film stars adorned the walls. Spent many a weekend and many a summer at this theatre watching movies like "Star Wars", "The Spy Who Loved Me", "Jaws", and so much more! It was beautiful and the prices were a bit cheaper than the Showcase Cinemas or the theatre at the Oxmoor ( Yes, there was a movie theatre in Oxmoor once). Unfortunately this place is now just a dump. Very dirty, splatter stains on the screens from where people have thrown liquids up on them... sign of the times and the people who live in this area now. So sad. The Village complex once had a wonderful arcade and indoor putt-putt golf course, a book store, an ice cream shop... now the entire area is a ghetto trash heap. Take a look at the empty buildings on the otherside of the theatre, do not go walking back there after dark. I suggest buying the dvd and watch your movie at home. The popcorn is better, and less expensive. Another nice place ruined.

Timothy Boyd

Renovation needed. ASAP!

Jim Hytken

This theater has been around for at least 30 years, perhaps more. I find the prices to be very reasonable at around $4 a ticket, $2 on Tuesdays. Nothing fancy here as far as the seating goes, but they’re relatively comfortable and the theater is very clean. I find that a large bucket of freshly popped popcorn with free refills at around six dollars is a real bargain. Their drinks are reasonably priced as well. Be sure to get your free refill of popcorn before 8 PM though, as that is when the concession stand closes during the week. The movies that they show here are timed so that once they are finished with the first run engagement they come to this theater. They also will show from time to time some eclectic movies that are not main stream, but very interesting. I have found that the staff is friendly and they do a good job keeping the theater and restrooms clean. The movie theater has plenty of parking and easy to locate. Several places to eat in the area if you choose to eat first before you go to the movies. One of my favorites is WW Cousins hamburgers just down the street.

Scott Kimball

One of my favorite movie places in Louisville showing both movies no longer in their first run and independent films you won't see in the big chains. Reasonably priced as well

iweld Alexander

I am from Tennessee. I could not believe how many people lit up my family's faces with cell phone flash lights. I hope all the people from Louisville are not as rude as the ones at the movie. People from Tennessee would never be so rude.

debby machan

Best theater for the price. Popcorn is great and the price is terrific. Love this place!!

Mary Mcneill

Favorite place to see movie. Cheap and good popcorn.

Wayne Thompson

Great theatre with great customer service for cheap price !!!!

John M. Ruhe

Great, inexpensive movie house. The only complaint I have is that I'm pretty sure the seating in the theaters is older than I am.

Todd Napier

Homey feeling, like watching a movie in your friends garage. GREAT value with only 4 dollars a ticket. Superb date night spot. Clean, if you look good enough you may find free popcorn like i did.

G F

They need to bigger bathroom and update the theatre otherwise great service and workers

patrick bishop

I haven't been there in a few years...to me it's really nice.

april wooten

Very friendly, clean, fresh popcorn

Vik C

Our go-to place for a movie. Great prices, hot freshly popped popcorn, and cherry coke!! What more could a person ask for??

Christina

This was a different experience. You buy tickets and popcorn at one counter. Coming from the north, they seem very slow to me. We were traveling. We loved the movie, and the popcorn. The service was slow.

Phyllis White

Price is right...clean enough....need more workers at food counter.....great movies!

Jacqueline Kirby

My visit was very enjoyable, twice this week. Once with a dear friend and again by myself. And the price was OUTSTANDING. Love this place.

Joseph Harris

Movie titles are late viewing from box office but at a lower price to view. Very inexpensive and a good place to go see movies that have been out in theaters for a while or have been taken down already at other theaters.

Lenore Wooten

Love this place, have been going here for years, but lately their womens bathroom REEKS of urine. Desperately needs a thorough bleaching. Will probably to to Baxter until they clean it.

Rebecca Taylor

I love this theater; there’s always showings for movies that you may have missed before they left the main theaters. Also, I love that they show some indie films. I will just say, when my boyfriend and I went there last weekend to see a movie at 9:35 p.m., they were closed for the night. We got there 35 minutes early and the ticket booth was closed, and the “enter” door was locked. Maybe we had missed some info when it came to the last showtimes for the day, but it was kinda lame. Other than this instance I’ve always had good experiences.

Amanda Rahn-Summerhays

Love, Love, LOVE Village 8! They have $2 movies on Tuesday and $3 on Thursday. You do have to wait for movies to play there, but it's worth it when you are on a tight budget. The staff are super friendly and it's usually very clean. Village 8 has been around for decades. I hope they stay for decades more!

Shauntrice Martin

$2 Tuesday was lit

Beverly clark

I don't need nor like the reclining chairs & over the top prices to see a movie! This place is fine & I hope they never go o/of business! Just sayin....

Tiz

So affordable! Quality isnt the top but for the price it makes sense. Employees are all nice and friendly too. It's a great way to see movies that have recently left theaters. Just saw The Wife there and it was great also :)

Lavanya Wijeratne Peter

Great little movie theater with very affordable prices. Reasonable prices on concessions too

Jon Coole

$3 kids /$4 adults (on a Friday night!) and reasonable concessions makes moviegoing affordable. Chairs aren't fancy, but the movie is exactly the same.

ppink nation

That was my first time there and it was nice

DJD Bumblebee

Love it here! Best movie theatre in town. Matt the manager is awesome!! Works very hard & keeps the pla e clean & running smooth! Please keep it open!!!!

CAT STAPLES

Amazing theater Popcorn is the best I've ever tasted. Prices family friendly. Have been going for over 20 years. I love this place

Karen Armes

I love bringing my daughters here. They are my date night and we love the village.

Sherry Taylor

Saw Dumbo. Have not been in the theater in years. Restrooms clean. Theater was clean.

Ronda Stewart-Wilcox

Neat. Clean. Older style theater. Older style seating. More intimate feel. Saw first run matinee for $3. Concessions are less expensive than the big theaters. Enjoyed our movie viewing very much.

Jomea Robinson

Had a wonderful time with my family. Fast service. Clean restrooms. Clean lobby. Clean theater. We saw "Ralph Breaks The Internet." I love the prices, very cheap compared to area theatres. It has that class theater feel. My favorite spot to take my son.

Richard H

Such a cool place! Sure it's less glamorous than the huge stadium seating with the the flare. But its simple and you're able to see movies that have been moved from the main line theatres at a low cost all with the charm of the 1980s.

William Miller

Great popcorn and friendly staff! A++

Jon Heady

Great prices, popcorn, facilities and staff. :)

Sabra Lynne Crockett

If you're looking for an affordable, no frills family movie night, then this is the place to go! It's not fancy, but it is comfortable. The popcorn is always delicious, and the service is always friendly.

David Stevens

Seats weren't bad, and the price is right. And very clean. A big plus.

WAYNE'S GREEN BLOOD

Ive always enjoyed going to Village 8 for years and will continue to do so.

Nance Greenwell

Appreciate the lower movie ticket prices but the seats are awful. They are hard and narrow. I saw several people carrying seat cushions and pillows. Surely the prices they charge for popcorn ( $ 3 for the paper lunch bag size ) could fund new and improved seating. We're tall people, our knees were at the backs of the seats in front. Great movie choices, reasonable ticket prices but lousy seating. Thanks for asking.

Nate R.

I've been coming here for 20 years. It remains exactly what it is intended to be; a budget friendly theater with both cheap tickets and cheap refreshments. An ideal place to bring the family. I can't remember ever having a bad experience and am pleased the place has managed to stay open despite the extra challenges facing smaller theaters today. I enjoy patronizing this place as it's got a bit of history to it and I feel I am supporting a smaller business. $2 Tuesdays and $3 Thursdays! For seniors or military the tickets are barely over $4.

Sharon Johnson

Needs updated chairs or santize spray on all the seats ...smelled like pee

Kevin Marshall

Best place to see a movie. staff very nice and helpful. Refreshments very affordable and tasted good.

midwest product reviews

Great place to go watch a movie. Employees are friendly and ticket prices are not bad. Concessions are a little bit high.

Kym Townsend

I love this place ! They show movies long after they have left big theaters, and at amazing prices too. There are a few food joints to hit up close by after a movie if you are looking 4 grub!

Michael Redman

Love this place. Happy memories.

TJ Demas

I love this place. Clean, fun, inexpensive, and the special salt station - it's my favorite. I always buy all-you-can-eat popcorn and go hard with the white cheddar salt. SO GOOD. Staff is always friendly. Great place to watch movies.

Winston Henley

Inexpensive place to watch a movie. Super cool.

Theresa Miller

I love Village 8 theatres. Great movies at great prices. Saw Beautiful Boy.

Joseph Madry

GREAT PLACE AND PRICES

Bwills Loufam

I hope this place stays in business, because some movies aren't worth full price.

Stephen Sauerbeck

We enjoy this theater. It is a very good value and very clean. Delicious popcorn!

Sarah Jackson

You get what you pay for. Theater is out dated. The one we were in had a bothersome smell to it. Screen is small compared to pretty much every other theater I've been to.

Joshua Thompson

Never say your closing again please!!!!

Arnita Booth

Not bad if you like uncomfortable seats, but great if you want to save money on a matinee.

Travis Liedtke

Excellent experience. We loved the old 80s feeling vibe. The quality of the movie was great. We went on 2$ Tuesdays. Free refills on large popcorn and sodas. Clean bathrooms and very nice staff. We had a blast and will be back.

Windy Kelly

This is a great little theater to take the kids. Its small & there's less of a crowd which is great when you have small children and especially when you have several small ones. The price is wonderful also. Only $3 per person & they have a kids box at the food counter that is only $5 for a kids drink, popcorn & fruit snack that come on a tray to hold everything so they won't spill or drop anything!!!

Lorri Moore

Love Village 8! Great popular current movies for a low price!

Chris Green

Great. Quite a few years have pasted since my wife's and I visited last, it brought back fond memories. Fair prices, clean atmosphere, friendly service. Keep up the "GREAT JOB."

charles tackett

I saw Three Identical Strangers. It was too long. The movie played flawlessly and the staff was nice. Only complaint: please vent the popcorn poppers.

Zay Zay Looney

Need renovation.... Seats were too small and uncomfortable. Love prices

Bobbie Brown

So glad you're still here!!! Louisville needs a good 2nd run theater. Please stay!

Sonja Ridge

along with most of Louisville have been attending this theatre since the 70s. The best popcorn in town. Reminds me of the diner on Happy Days. Has an old fashioned atmosphere. Will be sad when it closes next year.

Jack Oliver

Enjoyed the movie experience here, good video quality and sound, will return.

Karen Fisher

The place was clean and the prices for everything was great.

Diane Bagur

Loved the life story of Elton John!!!

Charley Baugh

Love the village 8 theater tickets are cheap the concession stand is kind of overpriced but the popcorn was delicious I recommend you by sneaking your own if you want to save a few dollars I went and saw Halloween I was a great movie I had a nice fun experience I will definitely be going back again I recommend this place to friends and family for a cheap nice fun night

Danny Kinser

Been going for years. If I didn’t catch it in the big pricey theaters then I can watch it here for a bargain. Popcorn is very good. Cheap to. I wish they had another one on my side of town but it’s worth the drive.

Susie Dempsey

Good place for a movie, has snacks and drinks and friendly staff!!

Uncle Sam 'Merica Man

Village 8 is a great place to catch a flick for cheap after it leaves most theaters. Tuesdays is two dollar night and a large Coke and popcorn will run you around $10. The staff is always fun and friendly as well. Unfortunately the actual theatre areas slightly small and antiquated but for the price, you really can't complain.

Daniel Evensen

Great price for a show. I found the theater clean, and in good repair. The employees nice.

Daniel Brockie

Like an upscale Aldi. Has friendly helpful employees. Has plenty of high quality well priced specialty items that rotate in and out. Never know what interesting find you'll run into each time you go.

Kate Fox

Tuesday's are $2 so we take the kids then. The place hasn't changed in 20+ years but at least they are still there. Service is very friendly and the place is clean enough for how busy they can get, especially with young people working. Concession prices won't cost all your fingernails like other movie theaters do. Love that they prove the working teens and retired aged working people can still have excellent customer service.

Kris Bailey

This is a budget friendly Theater and yet I was pleasantly surprised at how nice and clean it was. It's not as big as some of the other theaters. Seats are the standard fare. Snack bar was amazing and you can get free drink refills.

Eli Meredith

Excellent prices for movies that may be on DVD already and some have not yet been released to DVD. I was wanting to see a movie that was no longer in the other theaters and not on DVD yet. I was able to see it here

Pat Huckendubler

Wonderful to have a venue to watch international and independent films.

Doug Lanham

Great opportunity 4 affordable movie going

Cherish Comstock

Great price for a fun night at the movies. Thans for being entertaining.

R Tyler

A place doesn't have to be fancy to be great.

Traude Kerr

It is a nice place to go, when one has to choose less expensive entertainment, and doesn't care if the films are not the latest release

Chiffon Vaughn

Has a friendly staff, popcorn is the best, atmosphere is calming.

Michael Smith

The screens aren't huge and the seats aren't luxurious but if you miss a movie at one of the big theaters and you still want to see it before it hits DVD, it is a good option. The concession stand is always well stocked with great snacks and the employees are friendly and happy to answer questions. Also, easier on the wallet than seeing a movie when it is first released.

Tony Shupenko

Great theater! Amazing prices on tickets and snacks. Takes me back to the early 90s

Rick Daniels

Our favorite movie theater in town and the popcorn is great!

Lindsay Kokai

Love the two dollars movie nights. Am here almost every Tuesday! Great friendly service, huge popcorn tubs, not are luxury as some updated theaters but really nice for a local cheap movie.

Bobby B

Great local theater. Good popcorn.

Amy Kelly

Small. Simple. Inexpensive. Good popcorn.

Kathleen Hanley

Affordable Family favorite!!

Jose Garcia

Exelent and super clean

Tamara Nieman

Such reasonable movie ticket prices and concession prices. Only reason I did not say I loved it was because sometimes when the A/C kicked on in a quiet part of the movie, it could be difficult to hear the dialogue.

Admin Livingston

It was pretty good ......

Scarlett Hayze

The staff is friendly. The lobby, theaters, and even the restrooms, are clean and well kept. The prices are good. Indeed the whole overall experience is best quality for a second run theater.

Allie Richardson

Very nice retro theater with great pricing and great atmosphere!

Marc Board

Louisville's only bargain second-run theater and it is hard to beat the price when you can see a matinee of a movie that's only been out for a few months for a mere $3

Sammy Harrison

I seriously love this place. It’s not fancy, it’s not shiny and new, but it has a classic old school theater feel and the popcorn is good and the tickets are cheap.

Wendell Foster

Best bang for your buck!

Shilaa Kusalan

Great for cheap movie nights. If you miss the movies at the bigger cinemas, they show them here bit later on. Tuesdays are $2 and Thursdays are $3 for tickets. Can't beat those prices!

Nancy Siebert

Quaint little old time theater experience. Love this place!

Becky Straub

We went to see Rocketman . It was Amazing . The service @ the counter & concessions were awesome & friendly.

Paula Rutledge

Wonderful place!

Jessica Patterson

Great place to take the family that isn't so expensive

Chris Hunt

The staff there was really nice and helpful I would recommend it to anyone.

keiniece

I always have a good time here with the children! We frequent here a lot. Its always clean the staff are nice. Its like a hidden jem lines are never long. The movies are old right after they leave the big screen they come here and you get to watch them for 2-5 dollars for adults depending on the day. Why pay 12+ dollars when this is a cheaper alternative for the movie experience..

Jaison Gardner

Great value, fast moving concession line. It's a small, no frills theater (no reclining seats but there is a cup holder at every seat!) that is one of the best values in town. Glad this place is still around, at least for now. It was rumored to be closing the end of last year because the property sold. Hopefully it stays for many more years to come.

Rankin Dumesnil

Good time

Julissa Rosado

Great Affordable Family Night. We often go the weekend because the movies are still relevant and it's a great deal. You cant beat the price for tickets and snacks. Love the old school 90's look take me back to my 20's.

Corey Adams

Love this place been gluing since I was a kid and am happy to say that now being my kid here as well, I highly recommend it.

Margaret Schubnell

Great popcorn,good prices Nice people.

Chris Tolbert

Saw a good movie for very little money. Staff is friendly and helpful.

Vicki Green

Could be better used to be great when I was going as a young child but you pay for what you get so it's fine

Theresa Render

Nice oler movie theater. Prices are pretty decent. Good place to take the kids.

Kristina Timberlake

Great family atmosphere and pricing..... especially on the.. family night

Laurel Robinson

This place is funky, but I love it!!

Mimi C

Thank you neighborhood theatre! Please don't let the big guys swallow you up!

Staci Nodine

We love this theater. The concessions are good, the staff are nice, and I don't ever feel stupid when the movie is over for spending too much money on family entertainment.

Vera Woods

Was a special date with my special friend we saw US the movie. It was ok! We have plans to go back again.

Jessica McDonough

Crate for a low budget a little late to watch theater. Also carry lots of Indie movies and local Film Festival shows and sketches. It's well worth $3 to go in and see a movie that's a little past its prime but not out yet on the Netflix. The seats are still the old original seats two very small theater with a smaller screen but it's totally worth it and most the movies I've seen there on a whim have been excellent especially the indie films that carry that a lot of places here do not. Great when you're on a budget even the snacks aren't overpriced. Plus they have the best butter popcorn in town! Pretty great employees and I hope this place stays open for years and years to come.

Heather Adkins

For a 3 dollar theater, super clean! Even the bathrooms! Kinda small but I like that. Concessions also affordable! I was impressed!

Mindy Rodgers

Nice place to go to stay on a budget

Will Nickles

I love this place. So economic and fair-priced. Sure it’s a no-frills joint but I honestly prefer the homey feel of it all. It’s all worth it for the $2 Tuesdays and cheap concessions. Buying tickets and snacks for two people will have you spending less than the amount of one ticket at normal price theaters. Definitely worth it

Jannene Winstead

I enjoyed the movie"If Beal Street Could Talk" and the popcorn.

Leslie nicole Burkhead

First time going here and had a very good experience. Went to see a movie on tues at 530pm and it only cost 2$ per person. Pricing here is amazing. They also have reasonable prices for sodas popcorn and extras. The inside was clean the bathrooms were clean too. The actual theater was kind of small and the seats are not the most comfortable but it is totally worth the price. Will be back.

Cindy Johnson

This Movie Theater is reasonably priced for the budget-conscious movie goer. Great popcorn and peaceful environment to watch the movie of your choice.

Suzanne Groce

Best Deal in Town If you can't make $2 Tuesdays, try $3 Thursdays. Friendly, helpful staff. Movies are a little late but look just as good.

Tammy Capito Capito

It's a great place to go see movies that's not expensive

Stefanie Harper

Same as it ever was, same as it's ever been. A classic. I can still get a medium popcorn and a red slushie for $5 here! Beat that, any other theater! Highly recommend looking out for the 48 Hour Film Festival showings that are screened here in the summer. Very fun! Plus in October, sometimes they show old scary movies. In 2018 I saw The Shining on Halloween night! Gotta love the Village 8.

Amy H

We LOVE this theatre. I honestly have gotten to where I prefer it to the big theatres and not just for the savings.

Nashon Tabb

Great prices friendly staff

Holly Gore

It was clean, the service was fast, and kind! I would definitely go here again, also the prices are great!

Ira Porter

Nice for the price $2 Tues

Ravindra Agrawal

Very reasonably priced theatre. Popcorn and drinks are cheap as well. For the price you can't go wrong but don't expect recliners or mind blowing audio visuals.

Danielle Ruffin

Great place for family outings

Pamela Turner

Great movies. Great price.

The Bible and the Bermuda Triangle

Village 8 is a very very good movie theater it's just counted but you take the name and it's up to updated it's got the state of art state-of-art theaters the movies are at someone with a second run but who cares the prices are $2 on Tuesday and $3 on Thursday and $4 every other time plus other discounts based on your classification of age group but it's really really good it's the only movie theater than I know of that you can walk in and everything is level so it's it's a kick it takes care of the people that are on Walkers wheelchairs everything else is you got to go you got to climb the stairs or climb the steps and that is really really really hard for some people in wheelchairs Walkers and handicap pull up all wages it is and also it is it is very hard to walk up those steps in that but in the summer 2016 they are thinking about closing down Village 8 theater for whatever reasons to me I like Village 8 Theaters on a regular Patron economically wise

Diane McMahan

Great little theater! I love this place!

Nate Banta

Good value from the ticket prices to concession prices. Staff are generally friendly, too. Could use a little refurbishing and the exterior is crying for a paint job. But considering the value for a family, it is still more than worth it.

Richard Ragland

Great value for your money. They always have interesting movies.

Alicia Pennington

The best popcorn!

Melanie Wright

Nostalgic theater giving a throwback vibe to the 80's. Great prices on admission and concessions. 2 adults in a Saturday night plus 2 large drinks with refills all just $16.00. Will definitely visit again when visiting the Louisville area.

Jeannine Mohler

The only local theater my husband and I will attend. We love it here. It is the best bang for the buck.

Brenda Thompson

Nice older theater which runs movies right before they come out on DVD. Cheap with $2 movies on Tuesday.
