Jacob Rose

Fun place. Dinner and movie. AtTheSameTIME!!

Tricia Dierks

Absolutely love the great service while watching the movie!! Their drinks and food are great as well. You should also go see the Lion King!!

Alison White

It was a fun date night, but we both decided we prefer the comforts of a theater that is closer to our home. The seats were not very comfortable and although the food was fine nothing we had was outstanding enough to make us want to come back. The service was slow but our server was lovely. The atmosphere is amazing and just being in the building was cool, definitely something everyone should try once.

Alex Myers

Great place! Nice and clean with a great food and drink selection. Servers were very polite and helpful.

Taylor Wheat

NOT somewhere I will be going again. We came down for a close friend's birthday to see Lion King, We've been planning this for months, and my husband and I got there 2 minutes past their "late arrival" policy (which I might add is in tiny writing towards the bottom of the email receipt) So even though they have servers in and out and you're allowed to go to the bathroom at any time during the movie, walking in 2 minutes late is "too big of a commotion to allow" They don't make exceptions, don't care if you paid event parking fees, or if you came out of your way for a special occasion. Really they didn't even seem to care about losing business and potential future customers. I won't say this is the worst customer service I've seen, but it was pretty poor and not at all acceptable, especially not if you know what real customer service is.

William Kaye

Good movie, good food, comfortable chairs, good service.

Wes Green

Really cool venue with comfy seats and waiters. Parking can be interesting on the weekends

Melissa Seaver

Such a cool place to go and watch movies and have drinks, popcorn, and whatever else you'd like. They wait on you and you have a little table.

Conor Ryan

Showed up 1 minute late and they refused to let me in the joker movie which had just started. They wouldn’t offer a refund and kicked me out of theatre just because I was not on time. Do not go here

Tawanda Brown

Love the movie experience here. You can order food and drinks here during the movie, including alcoholic beverages. The food is good and seasoned well from the dishes I have tried. The feel of Alamo is of an old styled movie theatre. They play classic cartoons and movie clips before the movie starts. Somenof them are in black and white and bring back memories. Definitely a place to visit while you are in Kansas City if you are looking for a good movie experience

Paul Bragg

Everyone was helpful from walking into the theater and buying my ticket to when I sat down and ordered a drink. Great, comfy chairs and amazing sound. This is and hopefully will be for some time a good place to go and watch a movie!

William Kidd

The screens are big and sharp. The service is great and the beer selection is good. The Moscow mule I ordered was not that good and the drinks are pretty pricey. Overall very satisfied.

Brad

Swoosh! I love how seriously they warn people about texting/talking. If talking during movies annoys you, this is the place to go. If you like to talk, go somewhere else.

James Cox

Love the food service with quality food. Seats are comfortable and roomy.

Zach Smith

Killer as always. Drafthouse has had awesome service for as long as we've been going. Wife and I went to see Captain Marvel, theater was packed which kind of sucked - most times in Drafthouse we don't have to get cozy with other patrons, and the crowd was a bit more wild than usual, not to the point of raising a card though. I will say that I ordered a Guinness and they serve it bottled, which was odd, but I guess the cans are meant to be poured into a glass so more work and mess for everyone probably (wish more places had it on tap). The server didn't bring straws or ask us if we wanted them, which we also found weird. And the seats, as usual, are nothing to write home about - my wife's back was hurting by the end and I wasn't thrilled either. But the food and drink was all awesome (get the loaded fries!), the service was great, and the mood of being in an Alamo Drafthouse can't be beat!

Eric Gourley

This is a movie lovers theater. The unique building sits in the Power and Light district, right on the streetcar route. The lobby and theaters are classic, but up to date. Seating is comfortable, although not recliners. In seat service worked very well for us. Just be sure to arrive 20 minutes early so you can check the menu and fill out your order cards. The parmesan popcorn and a bottomless coke are all you really need, and are very affordable for a theater! I also recommend the milkshakes and my wife enjoyed an adult version. The sound was perfect when we saw El Camino, although others have said it can be too loud. The vintage public service clips that run before the movie are fun, and the announcement about phone and talking rules was very well done. (They played a voicemail that was purportedly left by a patron who was kicked out after violating the phone policy.) The only suggestion I have for the theater is to have the metal plates around the table supports secured so they don't make clanging noises every time someone kicks them. Also, be aware that if you expect to use a Power and Light gift card here, it won't work in their point of sale system.

Maia Briggs

First visit. Even though we had to sit in the front row it was a fun experience for my entire family. The chairs are comfortable and the service is excellent. I thought the servers would be distracting but they know what they're doing.

Suzanne Bolin

Good place to see special screenings,I still love Screenland and the art house's best(bye Tivoli) but The Alamo has a place. I have watched Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World with glowing swords and voting for "best ex",Blazing Saddles with whoopee cushions and cap guns, plastic sheriff star, and now The Hunger for Terror Tuesdays with a speaker before the show a who made it trivia quiz. I had a free ticket through a local film club but it's worth seeing a movie here. Full menue, full bar, server's during film, right in the P and L,so there's that if that's your thing.

Amanda Lubinski

Good tasting food and decent cocktail offerings but theaters getting a bit run down. Floors are stained and sticky, seats could be more comfortable and some tables need replaced at seats. Also, it took about 40 min. to get the burger and salad we ordered. Server was prompt but kitchen was very slow.

Tom R

Not a bad seat in the place. Great sound. Saw Rocketman. Enjoyed their previews and shorts. The burgers we had were tasty as were the fries (my wife would not share). An extensive beer list. Service was fast and unabtrusive. Buy tickets in advance for fast entry and seat selection, as your table / seats are reserved. Be careful - ordering can be so fun as $$ could mount quickly! The only negative is in the low lighting it can be difficult to review the menu.

Angelique Kilo

Theater is nice, but food is extremely over priced and not great. The theater serves alcohol, but youre paying double. The seats are moderately comfortable, I would expect more since they charge so much.

Laura CdeBaca

The service was excellent, the food was amazing. And the movie was great. Would definitely do this again. Thank you everybody who works at the Alamo Drafthouse Cinema.

Ruth D.

Food drinks and a movie. It was fun. A little dirty but the bathrooms were cool.

Keather Yoder

One of my fave theaters in Kansas City. They play some off the wall previews before movies. Imagine watching a GI Joe cartoon but dubbed with a Rugrats episode about potty training. Or scenes from SNL or interviews or obscure movie clips. Definitely worth arriving early for. The food isn't super awesome. I've had better burgers elsewhere but I'm good with that. I love being able to order food and drinks. The wait staff is non intrusive, they're quiet so it's not a disturbance when others are ordering or receiving food. Love the no talk and no text rule. Parking can sometimes be iffy as they are downtown. They have a decent happy hour in the Chesterfield bar which is attached. You can take your drink from the bar to the movie so another perk! Happy hour not offered IN the movie.

Alan Dunham

The food was fine. The service was good. The problem was that their policy about asking people to leave if they are talking or making a racket didn't seem to matter. The couple next to us was seated after the movie had started, drunk. Then they proceeded in ordering more gin and tonics, clinking their glasses together making toasts and talking, incessantly. The guy seated next to me went and talked to the manager. The manager came, gave them a warning, they proceeded to laugh and kept laughing. Every single group in our row put up cards complaining. Finally at the climax of the movie they asked them to leave, surprise, they didn't. They just got louder. We had to tell them to shut up... 4 times... loudly. Then they left. Not sure how the movie ended. We had to ask for another chance to see movie. We did receive rain checks. But we had to ask for them. Our bill for this lovely evening was around $90. Food, drinks and movie tickets.

I've been coming to Alamo Drafthouse now for about 4 months. Ever since my theatre closed which was Cinemark on the plaza. I must admit that I do like the table side service, and I've found that your servers are always very professional and extremely courteous. Howevet it's a very different movie going experience for me. I generally go to the movies alone since I currently not in a relationship. I can understand your policy of no texting, but if I did bring a female with me. Your no talking during the movie to preserve the integrity of the movie going experience makes one feel as though you can't even whisper to your meighbor. I've never been one who was very vocal during the movie but I must admit that even though I come to the movies by myself. I'm afraid to express myself if something happens in the movie that's funny or that kind of tweeks an emotional response be it laughter or otherwise. So actually going to your theatre is kind of tension filled experience for me. And your threatening eject a person is cute but you could hear rat pea on cotton in there. And your price for a Hot dog is absolutely ludacris. I normally get one with my Popcorn & Soda, but $11.50 ( WHY!! ? ) and it's just a regular size Hot dog? ( PLEASE !! ) What's up with the .50 ? isn't $11.00 sufficient..? I'm retired and frankly speaking I can't afford that portion of the movie going experience. Needless to say one thing that will be preserved is that Blacks will not be coming to Alamo Drafthouse. And if I'm being honest as a Black Man. That's really where the preservation & integrity will be preserved. Coming to veiw a movie at your theatre to me is almost like being at a funeral or at the morgue, however until I get a car I will continue to patronize The Alamo. I must say you're very unique. Most Respectfully Yours, Mr. Wayne Jones.

Theodore John

This is the way to see a movie! Comfortable seating, huge picture, and excellent sound!! Add in drink and food service along with the fact that they kick out people who disrupt the movie experience, this is the only way I will see a movie in this town!! Thank you for a wonderful experience!

Kendal Smith

I mainly go for the dance nights, but the theater is great too!!

michael stewart

A fun experience. We ate in and the bill was a bit pricey but the food was enjoyable. Seats are somewhat uncomfortable compared to the newly up dated theaters around the area.

Michael Scheetz

The Alamo is incredible. Interesting movies, great food and drinks at a good price. Plus no fighting for a seat. Honestly I don't want to see a movie anywhere else

Katie Yennerell

Best times ever at a theater! Food is fabulous. Definitely a must to go to one of the movie parties they have.

Joseph Byrne

Great theatre house. Great staff, great selection of films new and old. Clean, good food. Go if possible

Ryan Balsiger

My wife and I recently went here on a date night. Very fun atmosphere and setting. The staff was friendly and attentive. Dinner service was accurate and timely. The beyond meat burger, fries and mozzarella sticks were all tasty at a decent price. No complaints at all, we will be back.

Naynaa Pinkii

Very Racists tried to go see a movie for my birthday with my mother and as we were going in behind a white lady, they let her in and said we were late when in fact we were not, will never go again. I DO NOT RECOMMEND FOR MINORITIES. DON'T GIVE THESE PEOPLE YOUR MONEY.

Krysta Lemm

This is how how theaters are going to survive in my opinion! Food service at your seat is amazing and the strict talking/cell phone rules make the venue more enjoyable. Building could use some updates but everything was clean, food was good, drinks were great, staff was friendly, and the movie was fantastic.

Joe Cacioppo

Good food! Seats could recline more.

Kaylie Russell

When got there only seats were front row. We had to sit right under the ac so made it really cold to be able to enjoy the movie. I reported it but they said nothing could be done about it.

Rose Kester

The best movie theatre in the city

Bojac Syek

Comfy seats, great service, and good food and drink. Take the family or perfect for a date. I lovd this place.

Roger Pharr

Great before the preview clips. $7 matinees. Best in KC

Doug Kauffman

My first time!! Loved it , service was good and the sound was AWESOME!

Nicholas Brooker

Seriously, the best place for movie lovers by movie lovers. Their event nights are a real joy to go to.

Raquel Rix

Your staff made this experience wonderful. The theater seating was comfortable and the menu had a great variety. We will be back!!

Delisa jackson

Very good place to go watch a movie. Very adult.

Astepas Algamras

I love the location and the fact that you can order food inside. I watch movie here often. The only thing I don’t like is the price of drinks are a little too high.

Dawn Donoho

The servers are always so polite and efficient. The front counter cashier is very polite too.

Rebecca McMillin

I drove 30 minutes expecting to have the leather reclining seats I’ve enjoyed at other Alamo locations. Instead I had tight, regular theater seats. Additionally, there’s no parking. And the two garages they validate were both blocked so we paid $8 for parking.

Jon Smyrl

Solid food and comfortable seats. I wouldn’t choose the cocktails though. Their old fashioned tasted like it was a pre-made mix

Jacob Huber

Very nice place to watch a movie, eat some food, and get a drink. Always grab a glass of water before you walk into the theater. White russians are a go and the chicken sandwich is pretty good.

Quinn Corcoran

Everything and more that you could hope for. Pick a good movie, and come watch with good food. Amazing building, and employees that are surprisingly stealthy.

Devin Reynolds

It's a nice place to catch a movie plus have drinks and dinner. There are a few things that could be better. But it's definitely better than any AMC or B&B theater.

Scott Summers

Great place to meet friends for drinks, see a great movie and enjoy some pretty good food. Love the atmosphere and the service and the ticket prices are also very reasonable. Not hectic or over crowded. Cool and relaxed with a touch of class. Great Experience!

Phillip Coates

This is a tricky one. I loved 85% of it. But the writing thing in the dark is ridiculous. Please, moved to pads that are connected to the seat. Pay at the seat. I get it, it works your way. But it's cheap and lame.

Sara D

Seeing movies here is a treat - because it's a great experience, but also because it isn't cheap. I come here once or twice a year max because of the price of the food (which you don't HAVE to get, but why wouldn't you?). It's mostly delicious - though I did had burnt fish/chips last time I went so it's pretty hit or miss. Be sure to not sit in the front row - it's a pain in the neck, and they don't like it when you arrive late.

F Ford

Love the retro feel. Comfortable environment, great service, reasonable prices! Definitely recommend!!

Marilyn Lynch

Nice venue. Very few gluten free options on their menu, if any. Lousy parking. Parked at Union Station and took street car to the theatre.

Lindsay Trout

We usually have a wonderful time going here! In the beginning this place was great. The last two times we went the place was dirty. This last time we went was the worst. We went this past weekend in the AM and every bathroom stall but one was out of toilet paper. Toilet paper dispensers were also half hanging off the walls. Sink in my stall and one in the main area weren't working. The place also smelled of sewage. My husband noted his bathroom was also dirty. For being the first showing of the day you would think things would be cleaned, working and stocked. The lobby was littered with paper, dirt and a ball of hair (gross!). We were shocked it's gone downhill so much. I hope this isn't a sign of a closure soon! We really did like it in the past!

Lindsay Morse

We have been here 2 times and both experiences have been beyond excellent!!!

Megan Heuer

I brought my nephew in to see toy story at a 6:00 showing and was told he was too young to go in. He was heart broken. I didn't even think about 6 being too late to go to a movie with him. They nicely gave me a refund but I don't see it on my account yet. If you want to just have adults in the theater, don't show cartoons. I realize that all ages like these films but it is confusing and people don't think about not being able to bring a kid to a movie at 6.

Ashlee Massai

Seating is SO uncomfortable!! No ability to adjust or recline and you can not move the center arm rest. HATE THAT ISH! Seats are relatively spaced well, depending on if you are flying solo or coupled/family up. Considering the horrible seating, I'd recommend avoiding this theater. All of the AMC theatres are slightly cheaper and you can recline AND heat your seat! Win, Win, WIN! Downtown: looks like it's already time for an upgrade!

Ryan Parr

It's really not the great of a place. Seating is not good. Located near power and light so parking is a nightmare.

Amy Bollard

Good food, good vibe. Seats are right together so miss having aisles for a fast get-away when the credits start. And would be nicer with foot rests or recliners (theater 1). That said, will visit again!

ANDREA BARNETT

Great experience! The ads before the movie that tied to the movie were great!

Peter The'Witch

Best place to watch a movie and have dinner and drinks, Yup !!! great food and drinks..adult drinks

Juaquan Herron

Nice venue, but when we were trying to get into the movie during the previews they wouldn't let us. She stated they cant let people in when the movie starts....but the movie did not start. Then the receptionist gets smart. Not my first place of theatres to go to...

Cameron Leckliter

Not my style. Would only go for special events. But with the limited seating and high food prices I'm surprised they get enough buisness. It's very hipster, so many will like that downtown, hipster feel. I just prefer the more traditional style (likely from working at a theater in the past).

Arlisa Johnson

they have a restaurant that delivers to your seat! seat could us some refurbishing.

Jonathan Ruiz

It's an all-in-one exclusive movie experience you'll ever ask for, especially if you're an occasional film junkie. If I were you, just sit back, relax, and enjoy the show!

Angry Badger

This place is amazing! They have a strict no talking/no cellphone policy while the movie is playing. I love this because you are not distracted by the bright light of a cellphone during the movie. Also, with the age policy restrictions, that reduces the level of disruption while trying to enjoy the movie. Another great feature is that they serve a full menu with appetizers, entrees, & desserts. They have the typical popcorn and candy, too. But it is pretty great to have the option to have a burger if you want. Also, they serve alcohol, both cocktails and beer. I thoroughly enjoyed my experience and will go back when I am in Kansas City again.

Latanya Weston

Wanted to try this place again, then there was no special viewing... What's sad is the service is still the same POOR☹. My popcorn came cold after 10mins of ordering, my drinks came 20mins after the popcorn came, with fact i had to flag staff down, the would pretend not to hear/see me...till I had to walk out and almost get it myself. SMH...probably won't be back again.

Hilary Noonan

It's easy and a lot of fun, it's not cheap. If you're doing an evening out it's not expensive, but it's a cheap hangout with the kids.

Patrick Hemmingsen

Always a great time. Sometimes service can be hit or miss, but that's with anything that involves food.

Consuela Edwards

I can't blame a server for the rudeness of another customer. I get it! It's a movie theatre. Phones off! silencia! We did all of that. If i had something to say i whispered to my movie companion. If we were that bad than we would have been asked to leave. Apparently we weren't. Even a server sat on the side and watched us on both sides of the theatre throughout the duration of the movie. Have never had that happen before. I have been there before today and had the most pleasant experience (4 and 5 star ratings). Today was a bit too much. I will chock it up to it being a rainy day! Idk.

Samantha Boland

I love this theater! Food is delicious, especially their adult milkshakes! It also works out that the KC Japanese film festival is there every year!

william johnson

Really enjoy the experience you get with the full service at your seat. The unfortunate experience is those that feel the no text, NO TALKING, no phone rule doesn't apply to them. So frustrating, thankfully the management has ways to handle the situations.

Suzie K

This theater is awesome. Dinner and a show? This isn't plastic cheese nachos and hot dogs. They have a fantastic menu which changes regularly. The theater is clean, the servers are great, and it's especially nice to be able to stretch out and relax while watching a movie. I don't mean that the seats are just wider, the rows of seating do not touch. No one will uncomfotably climb over you to get to their seat in this theater. Skeptical of ordering a cocktail in a movie theater because you assume it will be an all sugar drink that lands you with a headache? Do not worry. I enjoy Bombay with a splash of Sprite. Quite often even at a dedicated bar, they fill the drink with way too much Sprite and void the point of ordering top shelf gin to begin with. I was almost shocked tonight when my movie theater server brought me one of the most perfectly poured drinks I've been served in a while. Dear Alamo, pay your bartender more so you can keep them. Whoever it was they are fantastic.

Jordan

First time at a place like this and it was great. Staff explained how it worked really well. We ate the fried pickles and the queso and both were great. We had a couple drinks too which was nice. Love their attitude about cell phone use.

Michael Melloy

Great place for movie lovers. Dine in theater. Full bar and sitting area. Real butter on popcorn. Love this place.

Chris Butler

Movie ticket costs are lower but you make up for it in food and drinks. They serve alcohol in the theater. Audio quality is what you expect from a theater, screen brightness was as expected. There were no reclining seats in the theater we were in.

Frederico Almeida

Loved the reception and the foods. Price ok.

Richard Jett

Vintage theater with a modern twist! You go to the movie for an experience and that’s what you will get at Alamo Drafthouse. The food and bar are great and just add to the whole experience. Even if you are not in the mood for a movie it is worth stopping by to have a drink or get a quick bite to eat. You may also stumble upon some other activities taking place in the bar area like dance lessons or live music. Bottom line if you are looking for a good time then this is a place to check out.

Grant Nelson

I absolutely love this theater. They have really interesting special showings. Over the past few months, I've been able to see The Maltese Falcon, All That Jazz, and a "quote-along" Three Amigos.

Tony Boswell

Great location. Strange menu items, although, I must say the wings were quite good. The theatre walkways we're a little too dark, and there is a railing that is painted black, of all colors. When I stepped of the stairs to walk down my seats row, I walk right into the railing and the corner caught me right in the ribs...hard! We went to see Captain Marvel. The movie was pretty good, and I was impressed that you could not hear the sound system from the neighboring theatre. I wasn't sure whether that was because the theatre are underground or because the sound system didn't seem quite as loud as say, Barrywoods 24 up north. Fix the railing or color of the railing so someone can see it in the dark, I'm sure I'm going to wake up in the morning with a huge bruise on my left side!!

Heather Miller

I was visiting for Spring break with a group of friends. We decided to go to the Alamo Drafthouse in the evening, and it was fantastic. The staff were very helpful and quick to help, and the food was delicious. It is truly an unique place and I would definitely recommend it.

seth james

First time going I liked the theater and the food but the service I had was poor. Went to see the 11:55 "once upon a time.... On Hollywood" and the service was rude and did not seem to care about my order at all. I put my order up on the railing like the employees said to do and was ignored until I said something to the employees which had a poor attitude and did not seem to care. After 40k minutes I did not receive my meal I tried to ask one of the employees for help by putting a ticket on the rail and then I tried raising my ticket for the employee helping the people next to me but was ignored. It got to the point I had to whistle just to get there attention the employee was acting rude and told me the foods coming and to not be disruptive. I understand I was being disruptive but when your being ignored for 40 plus minutes and the employees are not following the theatres policys what am a supposed to do to get help? I hope this help you.

Darwin Reyes

One of the best movie theaters in Kansas City. They serve cocktails and food to your table during the movie in an efficient and quite process. Very clean and close to several amazing spots

Desiree Lee

Movie was great, but sound was incredibly loud at the beginning. It seemed like they adjusted it mid-film. Food was ok, but service was lacking.

Amanda Yang

First time there. The waiter was very personable and quick to help--very impressive service for a very late sunday night. However, we were 15 minutes late for a movie we wanted to watch and they wouldn't sell those tickets to us, so we had to wait for the next show time. Would I go there again? Yes! But maybe on time next time.

Prabu Raman

Comfortable and intimate theaters that show indie movies. Good food and drink service. Complimentary parking 4 hours validation is nice in K C Power and light district.

Maria Scott

I love Alamo! It was another wonderful experience tonight! Thanks Alamo! Highly recommend. It's our top theater experiences.

Dougie Fresh

My wife and I go about once a month sometimes more, we go have a drink downstairs at the bar then go upstairs for a movie and food n drinks then we go back downstairs for a drink and head to NARA for reverse happy hour, love the area.

Alex Rivera

Great new experience. Excellent customer service.

Caitlyn Kogge

Fun place to eat and watch a movie but some theaters are very small so take that into account when planning to see a movie. Otherwise great!

Naandie Wright

Amazing experience. Only thing was those chairs are uncomfortable ):

William Laws

Great place to catch a flick, eat, and have a few beverages.

Anderson Willms

Great events! Amazing food. Excellent experience all around!

Ignis

My Family and I have made a tradition of visiting this place as much as possible. Birthday parties, opening nights, special events. They've really got it all. Oubviously the main selling point of the Alamo Drafthouse is the great food, and that sure is a selling point, but where it really shines is the passion of the employees. You can obviously tell that they are just working a job to make money, but nearly every one of them is still a total movie buff. You can honestly ask them which movie you should watch, right now, and they'll give you a really response on the spot. Overall, I can't recommend this place enough. Great stuff.

Jackson Chandler

This is our favorite movie theatre in town and we try to make out almost every week. Fair warning to Movie Pass subscribers Movie Pass seriously limits the movies you can see here, but Alamo is testing their own version of it and I'm sure it will be significantly better. Food and drinks are great, but some of the items seem a little pricey to me. Overall amazing environment. Would recommend.

Dayna Mcelroy

Had so much fun watching Annabelle! I got to get scared and drink dark beer at the same time. Two of my favorite things

Emily Archer

Best place to see a movie. They guarantee no distractions from other patrons, and will kick out offenders. Highly recommend if you want a movie experience without kids, or people talking and texting.

Rosiland Brown

I have no further comments. Thank U!

Kyle Harper

This theater singlehandedly re-ignited my interest in going to the movies. Despite the small number of screens they always seem to have a great movie selection, and we love the special events. The pre-show entertainment is top-notch and not to be missed! The food and drinks are the best of any theater and the movie themed special menus are an awesome touch. And they strongly enforce their no-talking/no-distractions policy. This is how the cinema was meant to be. Thank you Alamo. I'll be back again and again.

Kabir Torres

When I think movie viewing experience, this is exactly what comes to mind. Fantastic food and cocktails served directly to you while watching the newest blockbuster hit. Certainly does not get better that this! I ordered the fish and chips along a with a couple a couple cocktails with no complaints. The servers were extremely helpful and polite if I needed something, and their process for ordering while a movie is playing is super efficient. I highly recommend coming here for your next movie.

Amanda Scheetz

My husband and I have seen every MCU film here since we've been together and we love this place! They open the theater 30 minutes before and we do get our orders in early. That makes a big difference. The staff is always friendly and joking with us but also very quick and efficient. Food is pub quality with good portioning, excellent bottomless popcorn, I feel like drink portions could be more generous (I drink wine and have the tasty yet small specialty drinks) The craft beer pours would be the exception to that, I feel. My husband likes that he can get a nice whiskey. Love the snarky videos they play before the movie! Love that they enforce no talking and no phone checking!! Nice surround sound. Intimate theaters with stadium seating style.

Ajie GFX

Great theater. I tried a jerk chicken sandwich. Had the spice, with decent flavor, but the guacamole was a different touch. Not preferred, but it was a healthy option. The fries were great. I think the drinks could use a bit more kick, but they're definitely good.

Karen Santacruz

Food, service, and movie! Amazing!

Megan Badger

My favorite place for a movie! the food is always delicious and the chairs are so comfortable. I love using the app to make sure I get the seat I want. Definitely try the fried pickles and the fried Chile Mac and cheese!

David Douglas

This used to be under different ownership and wax much more expensive. You can't beat the service and price of tickets, bottomless drinks and popcorn. Unless you need to use the restroom, you never leave your seat. Amazing. Was definitely the best place to see Endgame IMO

Grant Symonds

Great service and experience. Ticket prices are very affordable. Food can be expensive ontop of the tickets is my only complaint.

annette bryant

Great atmosphere, kinda miss the reclining seats from another theatre. Love the special screenings! The fried pickles are fantastic!

James Harper

Asked for a refill on my bottomless drink 3 times. All they brought me was the check to pay for the only drink I received. Spent 2 hours thirsty. Asked three separate times for a refill. Bottomless indeed. Theater was not full either. This was at a 3:30 pm showing on a wed.

Annette Muscato

This place is expensive but a neat theater. If youre feeling nostalgic and want to spend quite a bit of money to watch a movie and have food and alcohol served to you than this is the spot.

In progress

The movie theater is great and they have good food, they also empower their own rules extremely well

Michael Crabtree

Love it. Good food. Fun shows, etc etc but the best best best is them serving up some yummy, strong, ecclecticly choicest, and reasonable costing variety of libations before, after, and ALL THROUGH the cinematic experience-nice

Nate Crow

We had a company event there and it went over great. Bartenders where incredibly, staff kept food trays full and clean. If your looking to host a corporate event close to power and light I would highly recommend.

Alia Ward

Great experience. Limited menu compared to other locations. Theatre was huge and retro. The french toast I ordered was kind of uneventful. The staff were polite but it definitely wasn't a typical experience at the Alamo. Alot of people on their phones and talking... no policing.

Sam Kroesen

This is still the best movie watching experience for me. While others have installed recliner seating and such. None come close to the delicious food and drinks that Alamo Drafthouse have to offer.

Linds K

Fantastic experience. Food was great, service was great, bathrooms clean. The only reason I don't give 5 stars is because of the location. It's so hectic to get around and park in that area. If that's no issue for you then consider my review 5 stars

Justin Scanlan

Not sure if I was supposed to get my own refill of bottomless popcorn or maybe I didn’t read the fine print. You will counseled if you dare bring your own snacks. I won’t make any special trips here again. Everything else seemed above par.

Clara Murphy

We love going here! Always a great time, they don’t deal with people being on their phones, talking, etc. The food is delicious, I personally love the boozy shakes

Chris Petrie

Good theater. Nice beer selection. The food is good but over priced. Waitress was on top of her game and had our orders filled fast without ever being intrusive.

Rufus St.Clair

Really enjoyed this place. Our son gave us a gift certificate to it. Had a good time there.

Gary Gingrich

Great place! Wonderful movie! Awesome staff!

Jacob Paulsen

Dont pay online for tickets. Got charged 3 times on my account and it took them 6 days to free up my money. When I called they said sorry your just gonna have to wait...but the fried cauliflower was good

I love the Alamo Drafthouse near Denver in Sante Fe drive. I’ve been often and eaten there every time. I love that children under six aren’t allowed in. I love that if you’re late you can’t watch the movie. I love that it’s chilly inside. I love that people who talk through the movie are removed. I love that they serve alcohol and food. I love that you are served. That said, I’m familiar with the delicious tofu quinoa salad. I ordered this last week at the beautiful Kansas City down town location and it was yucky. I’ll never get it again because it was that bad and I don’t want to take a chance. Quality control and consistency are important when a place uses the same name for a menu item at different locations. Our waiter was great and he was working really hard. I didn’t tell him the food was icky. I should have let someone know at the theater but moot. Super loud sound system. Almost too loud even for me and I’m used to punk shows.

Erin Hubbard

I went for board game night. Which was fun meeting new people, good drinks and good apps.

Ralph Tennant

Front desk and wait staff was very friendly. Good food and drink choices. Happy to have a few GF options. Movies are movies, but I enjoy the retro commercials and videos before the previews start.

LaVaughn Williams

It was a nice set up and the different things you could do at certain times like salsa Saturday

Heather McNeill

Great place to see a movie. Great food, drinks and staff

Absolutely amazing! I find the employees are very respectful and sweet , yet they make sure to enforce there rules about cell phones and children under 5. Even the aesthetic of the movie theater gives me such joyous nostalgia with a myriad of movie quotes. I think there only real downside is the small amount of theaters themselves. But even that isn’t enough to dock stars, as they usually have a wide variety of Indies, blockbusters, and old classics! The food is also very good (my favorite is the chicken Cesar salad!) In summary, a grand movie theater for every type of taste!

George Ahrens

Best show in town if you are looking for a big night out. Accessible by the free tram too so you can be downtown at another location easily before hand. Food is great! The price can get crazy but if that doesn't bother you then there is nothing better.

Lisa Calderone

Love this theater. Everything is up to date, the service is great, and it's not outrageously expensive. The food and drinks are actually good. My favorites are the bottomless popcorn and sodas!

I like the Alamo, but I never feel like I get my money's worth. Every Alamo I have been to there's an issue with food I've ordered. They have either lost the order(2),given me the wrong order(1) or given me my food with no utensils and taken off so fast I had to ask person besides me if they had a extra fork. The other times I've gone with out ordering anything besides a drink and popcorn(which isn't very good) I left thinking it didn't feel it was a experience outside a normal theater for the ticket price.

David Boyle

Only reason I'm not giving 5 stars is because there is no parking lot and the closest one will cost you at least $8. Otherwise a good place if you want to treat your self, kind of expensive, but a good way to experience a movie.

Overall I've enjoyed this theater the few times I've gone. The concept of being served while watching your movie is nice. I also like the themed previews that show based on the chosen film. So far the only issue I've had was a pretty blatant one. I arrived at 1040pm for a 1045pm showing of "It 2" The young lady at the counter was very accommodating. The manager on duty walked up behind the cashier and told her to put us in the 1025pm showing. She never asked us if this was okay nor did she ever acknowledge our presence. We had already selected our assigned seats for the 1045 showing but the manager still tried to force us to find new seats at an earlier showing. Once again for context, it was 1040pm and the manager tried to FORCE us into a 1025pm showing. It was later revealed the manager noticed no one else had purchased tickets to the latest show and she wanted us to cram into and earlier showing so she could go home early. This was unacceptable.and honestly a bit embarrassing. My date and I enjoy going to the late show due to our work schedules and family obligations. Being made to feel like a nuisance for patronizing a theater within their hours of operation isnt something I think I'll return for. I'd like to come back to this theater, I'm just not sure that I will.

Samantha Walling

I absolutely love going here. I love the atmosphere of it being downtown. I like the fact that they're smaller theaters and that no one is allowed to talk or disturb you. I also like that they serve food, Beverages, alcohol and desserts. I do find the tickets a little pricey but the food is at a decent price so it makes up for that.

Peter Spexarth

Amazing experience, great service. Well worth the prices. Theatres have great sound quality!

Linda Denny-Glynn

This is always a blast, they go out of their way to make any event a special one that will give you fond memories forever. I attended the sing along for Monty Python's In Search of the Holy Grail. I still have the coconuts and inflatable cow displayed proudly...

I'm from Texas, and this is the most beautiful Alamo Drafthouse I've been too. Parking is a little tricky since it is downtown. The theater is a huge! Two stories. Wonderful bathrooms too. All the women's stall have sinks and vanities in the them. Love the drafthouse. The menu is wonderful. My go to favorite is the pretzel. Though, the milkshakes are also a great choice!

Xander Winkel

I love alamo. Food and drinks are good. Theater is comfy, though not full on recliner comfy. Good site lines, tall people won't block your view. And I really like their policy to keep the theater quiet and guests under control. No worrying about chatty folks or small children.

Lilian J Valdez

Absolutely the best place to enjoy a movie. Strict no talking/phones or disturbances policies. Their movie events are always enjoyable, with a movie inspired menu. Absolutely love it.

Matt Hill

Great place to take in a movie on a date night. The food, drinks, and service are great, and will be a pleasant surprise that coincide with the old timey feel.

Elizabeth Rehfeldt

Th popcorn was so delicious here! The movie pre show was so cool. Highly recommend visiting for a unique experience at the movies.

John Perry

Great place to get a century old movie experience with modern and classic movies

Christina Taylor

Super fun as usual. I love the special menus and the movie merchandise. The servers are always extremely friendly. Never had a bad time here.

william coles

I love this place. Food is good and reasonably priced. Staff is friendly. No bad seats in any theater. Always a good movie going experience.

Kyle Boyce

Dinner and a movie night? While there are other theaters that are doing the concept of dining at the movie, Alamo seems to do it better than any others I have come across so far. It is obvious that they wanted to create a dining experience that makes it worth skipping going to a separate restaurant. The food and alcohol selection is decent, everything is about on par price wise with just about any decent sit down restaurant. Beyond that, there is definitely attention to having the A/V equipment tuned and working top notch for a great viewing experience. All in all, this is by far my favorite movie theater in the KC metro area and worth the drive, even though there are decent cinema choices in my suburb much closer to my house.

Shanya Almafeta

Pricey tickets but reasonable food that doesn't hold back on the spice.

Deston Howard

Unique movie experience to check out.

Scoutk Bartholomew

It's my favorite place to see a flick. They have a good drink list as well. That always helps.

Wilkie_G Ferguson

Readers beware! GROUCH ALERT! I really dislike theaters that serve food and drinks during the movie. When I go to the theater to watch a movie I want to be transported to another world and become absorbed in it. It's hard to do that when you have to smell some jerkoff bro sitting next to you eating hot wings and drinking some queer mircro brew. Can people not enjoy a movie without stuffing their fat faces and checking their phones? Why even go to the movies? Movies are supposed to be an escape from your everyday life. How can you escape when you're tethered to your phone. It also doesn't help that servers are constantly walking by blocking your view of the screen. I would have given one star but they have interesting pre show videos that give context and history which allows you to understand the movie better. They screen movies that you might not be able to see at an AMC or Cinemark. The final good point is they have non digital projectors that can show movies in 35 mm film.

Alex Rentz

I've been coming to Alamo Drafthouse for several years now, and the experience is as good now as it has always been. I'm a big fan of the food and drink, especially the adult shakes, and the special events are usually worth checking out. Overall I'd highly recommend it.

Andrew Leonard

My go to for movies, mainly due to the "no talking" and "no screens" policies. They have a decent menu and the special menus are great when they're around, but I wish the food was just a bit better for the price. As in, I would never make a trip here just for the food, there's a half dozen places nearby that are just better for the same price (or less). The special menu offerings tend to be better but those are sporadic. But, food isn't the main point of a theater. Overall definitely the best just "experience the movie" venue in KC that I've found.

BT Fisher

I love this place. This was my 2nd time here and I enjoyed it then too. However, the chicken fingers were not great (over cooked) and the "honey mustard" was really just deli mustard. The French 75 is fantastic! It's a great date night for the hubs and me.

Equipped with my "Cinema Lover" hat (picture attached for reference), my lucky bride and I attended a showing here for the premiere of Midsommar, a truly kino affair. This theater has existed for almost 100 years, and it does have some of that charm still when entering the front lobby. The Alamo Drafthouse is famous for allowing you to eat full meals and consume alcohol during the films, which sounds great until you really begin to consider that this means you will have people wandering around the theater throughout the entirety of the experience. Additionally, one of the waiters had comically sticky shoes, and every step he took during our movie sounded as though he was wearing Nike's new Electric Tape models; aesthetically pleasing but functionally garbage. Also, and this is not the theater's fault, a woman at the end of the row was eating popcorn as though she were a wild animal, obliterating each kernel with reckless abandon. I would give her a 1 star review. I would also pray that no emergencies happen, as response vehicles in the area are very clearly heard through the walls. It's almost as though those people who were selfishly wounded didn't even consider my total immersion in the film before they were beaten senselessly by punks on motorized scooters. If you are considering seeing lighter movie fare (perish the thought, fellow cinema enthusiasts!), this theater will definitely be pleasing. If you want to be focused on the film, however, I would consider a more serious venue.

A. Handy

Best movie theater for drinking and date nights! Wife and myself make regular movie dates here.

Rogena Aguero

Friendly, great service . Very comfortable, I was really surprised, they have waiters who come to you for your orders. Never have I seen a movie theater such as this one. They serve you food and drinks, mixed alcohol drinks. Food was excellent. I can't wait to back.

Vinnie Iuppa

This is my favorite place for an unusual or premium movie experience. More than anything else I love being able to see movies that are cult classics or are just plain classics but I might have missed the first time. Whoever does their movie program does a great job of choosing surprising choices and really making it feel like an event. I also love being able to see a movie, have a drink and popcorn, and all of it at my seat. The in-house bar is also nice and can be surprisingly busy on a Friday or Saturday night. My only ding on the establishment is that parking can be pretty dicey (or pricey). The trolley car makes that better but just takes some extra planning.
