This Movie Theater belongs to the category of Movie theater.
We go often. I like the food and drinks available. The theater in good condition.
Quality movie selection and some good brews on tap. Without the Fluer I'd miss half of the indie flicks that come out.
I like this theater. Not being crowded most of the time. Seems clean and staff is pleasant.
Cute little cinema with reasonable prices and a selection of more off-beat films. Seating isn't very comfortable though, and if you're watching a quieter film you may experience sound bleed from the other movies.
i love that a can grab a coffee! decore is adorable. place is also very clean. and appriciate the fact they really support more indie films.
It was nice. The staff was super friendly. There were some pretentious movie goers but hey..
Hidden gem in Des Moines! Great movies, have beer or wine or coffee or regular theatre snacks.
Its all about the movies.
An old-fashioned theater that serves an important niche market. Friendly staff will treat you right.
Interesting films, paired with appropriate beers. And popcorn.
Love this theater, artsy, lovely and comfortable.
my first time, delightful cinema! best popcorn as well. a place for the film sophisticate.
Nice theater for more obscure films.
I love the diversity in the movies they bring. I also enjoy sipping one of their chai lattes while I am watching a movie.
Love the smaller theaters! When they asked if I wanted butter on my popcorn, I said a bucket & they delivered!
Great place with no crowds and beer. I've never been disappointed after seeing a movie here.
It small, but good. They have fantastic snacks and drinks. And the place just looks amazing, it has a real feel of effort being put into the look of the place. And the seating is nice, even in the front row the view is good.
Nice find -- independent low key, homemade brownies in the cafe!
I absolutely love this theater! They are always showing fabulous independent films and sometimes throwbacks. They also have a wonderful coffee shop with local beer and wine too. Such a gem with an old b time feel.
Great little theater. Nice concessions.
Great movies, amazing staff, excellent popcorn, and iced tea (also sodas, beer, wine, & fancy coffee/tea drinks). I've never had a bad experience!
A quaint little cinema! No thrills, just a clean theater with great prices.
VERY clean and everyone that works there is very nice.
This place is totally awesome. A little old school, a little cafe in a theater, a lot of good things. Service was expedient and efficient. The theater was comfortable with bonus cup holders. Fact is, if we have a choice we prefer the Fluer to most any other movie house in town.
Amazing popcorn, rice crispy treats, and the best films.
If you're into movies, you'd be into the Fleur. Usually they show less of the big box office hits, more of the under-the-radar quality stuff. Local beer on tap sure doesn't hurt either. My favorite place to catch a film.
It's nice to have a theater that plays indie films, but this was first time here and I was quite disappointed with the overall experience. Movie & consessions were all priced like you'd expect at any theater, but if you want a cinema cafe experience you won't find it here. As a cafe, food/drinks should be served as a cafe. Everything here is served like it's a convenience store. Pouring beer in to a plastic solo cup, that's something you do on nickle beer night at a college bar. It makes the beer taste bad. Get some glasses, like a cafe would have. Don't give me a blank stare when I ask why you pour my Guinness in to a disposable plastic cup. If you're going to sell beer, and be a cafe hire people who know and care about what they serve. This goes for the cakes/snacks that are served to. All of it is plastic clamshell items with plastic cutlery. Be a cafe an serve on a plate with real cutlery.
Best combination of traditional cinema experience (i.e., early midwest premier of a select few high quality Sundance "art film" winners to an attentive and informed audience at a reasonable price) and contemporary scene of young theater staff delivering "high-end" hospitality services and amenities in a relaxed and spacious lobby...with ample purchasing time between scheduled and well coordinated showtimes for all feature presentations.
Wonderful venue. Nice people. Long theater seating with lots of leg room. Reasonably priced concessions including local beer.
Nice smaller theater. Feels more like a small town theater and "homely."
Great theater.
One of my fav theaters. Love the movie selections and the food/drinks.
Show limited release movies which I love!
Great old style thetere experience. Serve a collection of local wine and beers as well as the normal concession items you would find a a big game thetere.
I've been there before. It is a great place. My friend and I had fun trying to remember all the actors and actresses. That were on the wall. We were able to name all but one.
Great real popcorn with butter. Shows are quality not the usual stuff.
Enjoyed the decor, very clean and great customer service. A gem of Des Moines and can't forget the selection of food they have for a great movie experience.
Nice independent movie theatre. Their concessions are cheaper than other big chains and popcorn tastes great. They get nice selections of movies too. Beats any corporate owned chain.
Support Fleur Cinema!! They play the great films that big theatres dont play plus their popcorn is better than all the rest and their staff is very kind!!
Girlfriends and I went to the Iowa Golden Globe Award night viewing party. I even won a T shirt. Some had dressed up, some had on jeans. Interesting snack bar goodies. Scott a roos, wine, hot & cold teas. Yes, of course popcorn. Liked the parking. Staff is friendly.
This is the best theater in DSM. Their movie selection is excellent, the concessions are reasonably priced, and it is always clean.
Great place to catch a movie. They have Fleur card that gets scanned each tome you see a movie and you can earn a drink or popcorn.
Best place to watch movies that might not show up in the big theaters. But if you want drinks or snacks, show up at least 30 minutes before the movie starts, because their concessions are a little slow.
Love it
On our top ten list for date nights. Classy. They only play amazing movies. You can drink. A truly intimate and low key adventure each time
Great prices, drinks and atmosphere. I always enjoy coming here.
Good place to view movies that you might not find anywhere else in the area.
Quaint, neighborhood theater with wine, beer, and a coffee bar for taking into the theater. They also serve popcorn and traditional movie snacks. They bring a lot of indie films in addition some box office hits. This is the place to watch all of the Oscar nominees!!
It is always delightful to go to a movie there. The staff is ever ready to serve you. Love the movies for the most part that they show in their theaters. Clean facility and they great coffee, regular and decaf. Bonus!!
They always have good quality movies, and they serve wine and beer, too.
Great cinema experience. The concessions options are top notch.
Super cool little theater. Kind of a weird location to have an indie theater like this and is a little out of the way for me, but coming from Iowa City, it was cool to be in a spot that gave off similar vines to Film Scene. Love that you can order drinks while watching and like the sense of community you feel being in there with other local film lovers!
Pricey tickets but worth it for the great selection and clean facilities. Good coffee and snacks too
This is the place to go for those unique films that just don't get play time at the larger cinemas. I love the concession options which include not typical cinema fare. The setting has that artsy feel to it. Wonderful experience.
I love going to the Fleur. It always has gray movies for adults. You can show up pretty late and get a ticket. The concession is really great. It's an old fashioned multiplex and we live it.
Great little theater! Plenty of legroom. Reasonable concessions. Cute decor.
The best movie theater in Des Moines!
A classic laid back movie theater. Nice atmosphere. Good movie choices. Coffee and drinks are served. Caters to a mature crowd.
I love Fleur Cinema! Not only do you support one local business, but you are supporting several, as they have local beer, coffee, and chocolate for sale. And it gets movies that you cannot see anywhere else in the area.
Great movie and love going there!!
Good place to see movies that are not getting a lot of publicity.
This is the only dedicated art house movie theater left in the Des Moines area.
Best hidden jem in Des Moines for a movie. Old school cinema and you can also get a beer. Great popcorn.
Good place to see a movie. Good selection of refreshments also.
Very old fashioned loved the scenery
This is an independent theater that shows mostly independent movies. It won't show any Marvel comic movies, but it will get a healthy supply of Cannes Film Festival flicks. The prices are right inline with corporate theaters, and you can get snacks and drinks (soft and alcohol) for the movie as well. The lobby is set up as well where you might sit afterwards with friends for another drink and to talk about what you just saw.
Nice that beer and other drinks are available here. They show some mainstream movies here, but are better known as a place to go see those movies that you will not find anywhere else.
Very clean, friendly staff, nice upgrades.
Always love watching a movie here. Great movies with good acting and a plot. Add to that Confluence Beer. Yeah!
Quaint movie theater with cool movies and great crowd plus awesome homemade snacks !!!
Clean. Adult beversges. Great films. No teeny boppers
My favorite place to see movies. They always have the movies that never come to my town. Best popcorn anywhere, and you can get a beer or glass of wine instead of soda if you prefer. (Wine and popcorn--an excellent combo!)
Good movies, . Not found at the major theaters
Went to 48 hour film festival. Had a great time!
Wonderful staff, comfortable and colorful lobby with notebook of movie reviews, great range of movies, unusual & diverse menu.. My fave theater in the entire world :)
Love this theatre. Unique decor, clean, great service and selection of movies!
Its many fans are absolutely right - this is the best cinema in Iowa. A uniquely curated selection of quality films from Hollywood and around the world in comfortable, elegant surroundings. The beer and wine are a cut above, the baked goods are lovely, and the staff are always pleasant and friendly. And yes, it's also a cafe - you're welcome to stop by just for a coffee.
Local cimena with concessions including pasteries and alcohol beverages. Unique independent films. Nice staff. Cafe setting.
Memories made here even without the latest and greatest seats, etc. Love this place!
It's got a nostalgic feeling about it. Its clean comfortable enough and supports upcoming artists.
Great small theater, 4 screens, reasonable prices, plenty of parking!
Totally awesome place to see a movie!
vintage movie experience. we loved it. and they show great movies that don't get any screening in smaller places like Dsm
Fun place to take a date.. good prices..clean
Older and outdated but great matinee.
Great decor, good (reasonably priced food), and typically a great film selection of films.
Great theater showing independent movies that make you think.
Elizabeth the Queen of Scots. wonderful movie must see
If not for the movies, you must go for the decor. Great expresso bar. They also sell wine and beer... And yummy pastries.
Clean theatre, clean working restrooms, great pricing, friendly helpful staff, and great beverages (beer and wine), popcorn, and Stam(!) Chocolate!
So, if you want to see a smaller, indie or “arthouse” release, where do you go? Fortunately, Des Moines has the Fleur Cinema & Café. While free-standing single or limited-screen theaters are declining in the Age of the Multiplex, the Fleur is thriving. There's a reason for that. Would you like coffee or an adult beverage with your date in a cinemaphile atmosphere? Fleur has you covered. Feel like an actually home-made brownie or rice-chew instead of popcorn with your show? Try finding that down at the chain theater! Ohhhh, with REASONABLE concession and ticket prices, did I add that? It's not glass, chrome and stainless-steel with self-serve multi-pour dispensers for your drinks, and add-your-own popcorn butter, but I like that. Ask the kid at the chain what your movie's about, and they'll probably know the principle cast. Ask a server at the Fleur about the cinematography and you might get a fifteen-minute compare-and-contrast. If you're waiting for theater seating, there are comfortable group seating areas in the lobby. You can play one-up guessing games with the movie icons on the wall posters, see how many of these films you know by image alone, said servers to be final arbiters. It's a little bit hard to find, set-in on the east side of a rather busy section of the same-named street (look for the wedge-shaped Fleur Cinema signs at the street entrance north of the Hy-vee), but, for a different kind of movie experience, worth the hunt. Highly recommended.
For a theater this definitely deserves five stars. It has a really great feel and vibe to it. The workers are very friendly and helpful. The prices are cheaper than most theaters, but even if it were the same price as others this would still get five stars. It's not updated and fancy looking like other theaters, but it is a great environment. It has comfortable seats. They have healthy nutritional options for snacks. I'm sure if you wanted to snack on fresh veggies they wouldn't mind you bringing fresh snacks that they didn't offer. Very nice place. Great environment. Good people.
Yummy food, yummy Guinness, yummy movies, yummy mints in bathroom, yummy yummy yummy.
Great art house theatre. Of you're looking for the best Indy stuff, Fleur has it.
Very clean establishment and prices are decent. Staff are friendly and helpful! I do plan on returning!!
Excellent movie theater with great prices.
Bring your own snacks
Always a good place to see a movie!
great theater except for the smell of urine. minimal previews so it's nice to get right to the movie in 5 minutes.
Love the feeling of this theater. It's artsy and has a great snack bar with craft beers and wine.
Des Moines’s place to go to watch independent film! The facilities are nice considering it is an independent film theater. Popcorn was great! I’m really just happy that this theater exists to begin with. They have cafe and alcoholic beverages if you’re interested. I haven’t gotten the chance to try so I don’t know how good they are.
This independent cinema is One of the best things about Des Moines. One stop destination to watch critically acclaimed movies!!
Good place to see documentary movies like Apollo 11 and have a cool beer on tap at the same time.
Really nice throwback cinema. Not stadium style seating. But clean and friendly. Nostalgic furnishings. I especially like how they put the names of each movie above the doors to each theater in block letters. Movie Pass accepted.
Reasonable prices, great concessions, friendly staff, I can't say enough good things about this theater. They consistently show some of the best films in town.
A movie goer's movie theatre. Sip on a beer and enjoy a movie.
Nice movies here
Great movies you don't see at chain theaters. Friendly, polite staff. Clean, comfortable seating. High quality films.
My friends and I consider this our "go to" cinema because of good choice of movies, great concession prices, friendly staff and just all around comfort. We always select Fleur over all other theaters unless we can't find a specific movie which doesn't happen very often. It helps that we are southsiders.
Great theater, especially if you’re into indie movies.
Love the Fleur. It’s got great movie selection-lots of titles you can’t see at more mainstream theaters.
Local treasure with great concessions and a consistently awesome movie selection!
Great older theater.
Nice little theater. Well taken care of and a reasonable price. Seats are a bit uncomfortable but ok to sit in for 2 hours. Love that you can have a beer while watching your flick.
Get an Italian soda!!
Fleur is a wonderfully run indie theatre showing mostly indie and prestige films. They have 4 screens each with nice comfortable (non reclining seats) and a wonderful drink/food menu! The interior decor is very retro- they repurpose film reels for tables! Lots of parking too. Definitely a great moving going experience.
My favorite theater! The best popcorn and Italian sodas in town
Cool movies and classic venue.
best prices on popcorn, pop , candy in town
One of the best independent cinemas in the area. Concessions you don't find at the chains (dessert, wine, beer, etc) and good films. Staff is friendly and rest rooms are always clean.
The matinee were very cheap and I live their coffee bar seven their popcorn was reasonably priced.
The Fluer features highly rated adult movies in comfortable theaters. Arrive on time for no ads and only two previews of common attractions precede the feature. The lobby is replete with movie posters and comfortable seating. Substantive snacks, beer, and wine are available at the snack bar.
Love the pick of movies. Small number of theaters means the movies are more independent or artsy. Great service. Love that you can have coffee or beer. Its our regular go to.
Very nice old fashion movie theater with not your typical movie food. Get a gourmet coffee, a piece of cake, beer, or a glass of wine. Chairs, couches and tables to sit and chat with friends before or after the movie.
Locally run, old school style theater generally (but not exclusively) specializing in independent and foreign films. It's the only place in town to see many movies with a smaller release and a great place to catch a movie while drinking a coffee or beer.
Great, small theater experience! I attended a busy matinee show on a Sunday. Bathrooms were tiny but everything seemed clean and well kept. The "cafe" is more of nice concession stand, make sure to look up the menu before you decide to skip lunch. Beer and coffee were available as well. Will definitely be back!
We always have a great time at the Fleur, no matter the movie but it's an extra special night when you get to see a silent film scored and accompanied by The Invincible Czars!
Great place to go see a movie with very little advertising.
This theater has a cool vibe, with a bit more of a nostalgic feeling. The price for everything was comparable if not more reasonable than the bigger theater chains, and the variety of snacks/foods/drinks was good. Very clean and not super busy, either.
This place is comfortable, welcoming, and shows fabulous films. A must visit place for sure.
Staff very friendly. Concession items affordable! Will go back again
Always friendly employees, clean restrooms, interesting & entertaining films, large seating areas with clean floors. Love it! For hearing disadvantaged, there are headphones available to increase sound.
Great lunch place on the weekend. I went to see Phantom Thread at 11 am on a Saturday and there were a lot of people there. It was a nice break while I was out doing errands. Great choice for food and drinks and the staff are a lot of fun too
It was Ok, honestly, but I was expecting a bit more. I was expecting a more full Cafe in the form of coffee. You can get coffee and add sugar and creamer at a counter out of the way. The gas station kwick trip honest to God had a much much better and more varied coffee bar type area. Everyone was nice and it was clean and a fine movie experience, but just disappointed in the main draw for us, the Cafe.
Great small theater. Screens are actually pretty big. Nice fresh snacks and they are reasonably priced. They have some of the big name movies but also show some of the unique not so well know movies. Great place.
Love this place!! You owe it to yourself to visit. Always our first check for a movie.
Good movie! Good venue!
Cool place, love the deco. Beers and wine Makes movies better! Nice people too
Great prices and wonderful cafe!
Wonderful staff, comfortable and funky lobby. Fleur plays the best movies that other theaters don't always play. They have great snacks and drinks. They had beer and wine before it became popular.
Great local theater
The best place in Des Moines to watch a movie. The food is great and cheap. Even the popcorn is cheap! And don't miss out on the Italian sodas. Nice place to go see a movie with other adults...children are rarely seen. Most impressive - they do not show 20 minutes of commercials and 15 minutes of previews before a movie. Usually just two quick previews. So, get there on time!
Great film selection, great viewing, friendly staff. Can we has hot dogs? Cookies?
The Fleur is a wonderful place to get away from the craziness of the west side and see a great movie.
good location, plenty of parking, very good selection of moview
My favorite theater. Love when they play all the oscar noms once it's that season
Reasonable show prices. Usually more art house movies, but also popular movies.
Saw 'Juliet, Naked' starring Rose Byrne, Ethan Hawke, and Chris O'Dowd. Worth seeing.
