This is movies done right. Why be cramped into an outrageously priced theater which often times is too cold. For the price of one you get two, often, first run movies, the same week they open in multiplexes. Too cold, bring your favorite blanket and relax in your favorite chair or blow up couch. Want true surround sound, your the master of your own audio. There is a train, sandbox, volleyball court, swingset and large field to keep you entertained should you arrive a little early.

I've been coming here since my family moved to Iowa years ago! It's a fabulous place for family nights, a night out with friends and date nights! Two movies in one night, concession stand with food and snacks, restrooms, they do trolly/train rides some nights, lots of parking space AND they even have some outdoor play equipment for the kids. We usually come early and hang out, play catch or frisbee and just relax. It's a perfect night out! Bonus, they also have some radios for rent in case you need it!

Went for a movie that started at 8:30. The projector tore up and they refused to refund the money collected. Movie finally began first feature after 10:00. The video quality was worse than a pirated bootleg. Words on the screen blurred beyond focus. It was obvious the drive in was willing to play anything of any quality to not have to compensate the people who drove from all over the state to see a movie. If the owners are not going to repair the outdated, delapitated equipment, they should concider selling the drive in as an antique that served well in its time.

Drive in 61 is such a fun and classical place to take your family. Its very reasonable for a double feature and we always get popcorn and pizza there while we wait for the movies to start! For the price of a movie date night for me and my husband we can do this instead and it's fun for the whole family.

Lost my phone there. Drove the 2+ hours to get there and the owner was on site. Helped me walk the field looking and even helped me dig through the garbage after realizing it was in the dumpster. The staff is friendly and it's cheap to but popcorn and pop and the tickets to get in is cheap too! What a deal 2 movies for the price of 1! If you get there early there is a playground for the kids to play on while waiting! Such a great one of a kind place!

61 drive in is tiered so everyone can see the screen no matter where you are parked or what you drive. They have snacks and drinks for everyone! They play updated movies and a playground and train for kids. You also get 2 movies for the price of 1.

Fantastic, A wonderful piece of yesterday totally up to date . A great Value with 1st run entertainment! Nice staff, great sound through your own radio and huge beautiful new screen. I don't go enough to this outdoor cinema. It gets the top shows the first weekend they are released and it is like an Imax without the Imax prices.Go early and have a picnic then settle in foor a great night.

First time here and it was very neat! The concession food is very affordable for a wide variety. You can bring coolers and your own food if you desire. Lots of fun stuff for the kids to do while you're waiting for the movie to start. Although I think that they should put the portable potties far away from the concession building.

Fun place to go on a summer evening lots to do for kids , train rides , swings ,tetherball,and,volleyball. Full service food stand with pizza and burgers and ice cream. Movies are usually first run and always a double feature. You can also bring in outside food.

Although i love the idea of a drive-in movie, the persistent highway noise and traffic headlights right behind the screen at 61 pretty much ruins the experience. If you aren't an hour or more early, you'll be stuck behind the concession stand with a view the proportion of watching your phone. Tons of mini vans and suvs with the tailgates open blocking views. Tons of loudmouths and whiney kids. Modern cars turn off accessory power after 15 minutes so don't count on your car system for audio. Just a bit of a let-down.

Not bad for the worst seat in the house! This is a really cool place to go. Get there early to get a good seat! My only criticism is that I wished they played the Beauty and the Beast before the PG-13 movie instead of after.

This place is a wonderful gem! Located right off of Route 61 in rural Iowa, it is a great place to take the family for an outdoors night at the movies. Recently updated to digital projection, the picture is great. Sound is delivered via FM radio, so either bring your own or rent one from the concessions stand. There's a great place for kids to play in a field right in front of the screen, along with some swings and a train that kids can ride once for free on weekends. The parking is laid out wonderfully, with rolling hills throughout, making it easy to angle your car or sitting towards the screen. Our family brings an air mattress and lays out under the stars for the movie, along with a boombox for audio. On the weekends, get there at box office opening time or you'll be way in the back!

What a good throw back place for a date night... Kids love it. Don't take kids to a double feature, unless you want everyone to fall asleep. But a great place, nonetheless. Prices in the concessions are fairly priced and there is not really a bad seat in the house.

I love that they're family friendly, but we actually went to the week where they played the more adult selection and had so much fun WITHOUT the kids. Highly recommend, but please do your own research on what's showing and who should attend!

Everything was great except the fact there are no guidance for people to use to park. They have big gaps in between each other. Mini vans should not be in the first couple rows. Their tail gates disrupt your screen view when you're behind them.

Decent drive-in but hurt by it's proximity to the Highway and sound options. Definitely worth a look if you're in the area and looking to do something unique, just be sure to bring your own radio or keep your vehicle stereo on for the duration of the movie - the radio equipment that you can rent from the concession stand is old and functions poorly.

Amazing theater! My first drive in ever and it was definelty one to remember! This location offers a wide variety of concessions spanning snacks to more filling options. They even let you bring in your own food and alcohol, pretty rare for a drive in! Double feature rocks and they have hills built into their "stadium" to position your car to best suit your viewing angle. Sound is tuned through car radios and they have restrooms on site. Take a break and look up during a film and you'll see a sky full of stars! Definelty recommend. BTW they have dippin dots

Built in 1950 this Drive-In is one of the few left in the country. It holds approximately 350 cars. Movie prices are great! Double features and the newest movies out. Prices for the concession stand are an extremely good value also; but expect to wait in line! I would wait for a lull in the show and go then.

My family will always try to go to 61 drive in at least 2 or 3 times a season. We are always happy with the helpful staff and amenities. Can't really beat two movies for the price of one. I love that you are allowed to bring outside food into the drive in, but we always buy popcorn which is a must have for the movies. This drive in theater is all grass, only the road ways are gravel. This makes sitting outside your car much more enjoyable and family friendly for families with children. We will always go back and hope 61 drive in will remain open for generations to come.

This place is a quintessential Drive-In experience. Come early and spend some time talking to people, playing games, having snacks, or heck use the swings. It's also recommended that you bring a couple good lawn chairs or a blanket and a good battery powered radio, unless you plan on sitting in the car for the show, which not many do. You can bring most anything with you to eat although keep in mind you can't grill at the drive-in, though a lot of folks will get food in Maquoketa to bring to the drive-in. There is a good concessions there and while it's not ridiculously cheap it's certainly much more reasonable than any movie theater you'll go to.

I hated how the screen faces the highway. Lights from the in coming traffic was awful. People driving in or leaving would either keep their lights on. Very rude. They need to be reminded when paying to turn lights off and if leaving, maybe have just Parking lights on? Parking was awful. People don't know how to park, so there was a ton of wasted space. Lines need to be drawn apparently for those who don't know how to park.

Very unique & cool place I love this idea & I wish there were more like it closer to where we live (Iowa City/North Liberty) Their setup is well done & has a lot to offer They have a nice playground area with swings for kids to play on while you wait for the movie to start. Line to get in can get ridiculous! You have to show up 3-4 hours before start time to get a decent spot but it's worth it. Great family experience. Prices are great & they have a lot to offer! Parking is good & exiting the area is not a problem at all. They may want to think about renovating & expanding their facilities because this place is very popular!
