The Normal Theater is a great historical venue refurbished to look the way it did in the 1920s and is run by volunteers. We love the the variety of films available. Admission is reasonable, popcorn is only $1 and they even have a drawing or trivia before the show with prizes! Everyone is so friendly. It's like stepping back in time! Those ceiling lights in the photo are real neon lights. Just be sure to dress accordingly. In the winter, they turn up the heat quite high.

This is an AWESOME theater. It has fantastic atmosphere, a great selection of indie, Classic and foreign movies and the staff is extremely friendly. Its also the only theatre I've been to with reasonable priced snacks.

All the charm of a single-screen theater with excellent prices for college students, . I've been to multiple screenings at this theater and the experience as an audience member can be varied. Firstly, the crowd can be entirely college students, sometimes drunk, who laugh and sneer at any chance they're given in a film. I guess "Re-Animator" wasn't made with a sedated audience in mind, but the audience 'participation' can be a bit much at times. Another thing to note about the theater is that the audio mixing can be all over the place. I was there for "Citizen Kane" with the audio was turned up WAY too loud (enough to make my dad plug his ears), and for "Purple Rain," where I could hear individual audience members quietly singing over the soundtrack. I say give this theater a chance, they have a very good mix of classics & arthouse, and your experience might be like mine with "The Exorcist"-- with the audio mixed absolutely perfectly.

Great theater - historic from the 1930's that has been completely restored. Very few still exist like this. And you can buy some popcorn and not have to take out a loan! You have to go there at least once for the experience!

Wonderfully restored Art Deco theater evokes the glamour of 1930s movie houses, screening a wide variety of films, from big-screen epics to indie documentaries. One of my great childhood memories was seeing "The Wizard of Oz" in this theater.

This old theater is nicely renovated. The lighting on the Marquee over the entrance is very nastalgic. The interior has a classic feel to it. The staff is friendly. They do a fantastic job. We enjoyed the popcorn and Pepsi! Loved it! Great experience.

Went to see The Rocky Horror Picture Show. It was a good and fun cast. Similar to what I remember from 40 years ago. It was an old theater with plenty of vintage charm. I wouldn't hesitate to return the experience was definitely something to enjoy.

The normal theater is one of the most unique and fun experiences in town. There movies they show are always interesting and snacks are just a dollar. I went to see the labyrinth just after David Bowie died and everyone sang his songs together after the movie. It was magical. Only complaint is that it can kind of get hot in there because of the old HVAC system.

This is a historical establishment that has been very well maintained. Their online presence is fairly well put together so you can check what's showing and buy tickets in advance. They accept cash or card and also have a modest concession stand. Two of my favorite and most memorable visits include seeing Loving Vincent this past December and seeing Casa Blanca on Valentine's Day a couple years back with my now-Fiancée. Prices are reasonable too.

Love this old theater. Visited it many times over the last several decades, so it brings nostalgia for me. The seats are sturdy and from the original time of it's opening - not quite comfortable or spacious but the experience remains memorable each time.

Historical site playing classic movies and inde offerings. Awesome atmosphere in the theater which really takes you back to a different era. The marquee outside makes you feel like you're out on the town in the 1950s. Perfect for a date night, especially if they are playing a movie you both love. I'd give 6/5 stars if I could.

Great for movies. Cheap tickets and snacks. I was at a live, full band concert here and it was way too loud. They seem to be moving more toward concerts lately, but they don't have the equipment for it and there's no sound dampening at all

The environment was a little posh for the Rocky Horror Picture Show, but it was a beautiful building and they did an amazing job, especially for being an all coed troupe. They really practiced some great choreography, so we veterans could tell it was a tight show. Wish they offered it every week, it at least every month!
