This Movie Theater corresponds to the category of Movie theater.
Always great food and a great atmosphere.
Great neighborhood theatre- renovations were awesome!
Cool place..quiet comfy
Great customer service! Everyone from the restaurant to the theater makes you feel genuinely welcomed. The seats are very comfortable too!
Great, little, clean theater...
The staff was very friendly and the theatre was clean. The sound system could use an update as some of the dialogue was unclear. Acoustics greatly amplified sounds from the audience. Parking is very limited.
Great place to grab a drink, eats and see a movie
Our neighborhood theater. Bathrooms and theaters are clean and recently went through a major renovation. We love this place.
Quite nice after the full renovation. Good prices.
Great theater for modern and classic movie nights. Always something fun and interesting going on. Historical Chicago landmark. This theater has been here since 1916!
Best theater in town. Wonderful theater, great staff, and so much more!
Great place for family and friends to enjoy food drinks and movie's. Comfortable sitting with food and drinks to enjoy your movie... What else do I need to say. Come and see for yourself
Amazing interior and great sound.
Beautiful place to watch movies they now have a bar and restaurant there
Love the retro vibe here. The remodel was beautifully done. They offer adult beverages & classic movie treats. If you want food that's a little more substantial, Carbon Arc, which is attached, has great food & a full bar. Staff is super friendly at both places.
Great local movie theater. Good prices and comfortable seating. This is my new go to theater, only thing is that the selection is usually 1-2 movies but they are usually new releases. They also host other movie events.
This place is so retro & cute. Gave me that art deco style looked it up and it's actually an historical landmark. Went to go see Wonder woman the stafd was friendly and inviting. The seating was comfortable & spacious.
Smaller than the usual theater sizes but the audio and video qualities are both excellent. The space is not too crowded.
Recently renovated. Beautiful theatre. Very homey.
A good "old-timey" theater!
I've driven/walked past this place so many times. I can't believe it's taken me this long to go inside. Incredible theater, sound, ambiance. Most importantly, they have awesome popcorn and serve drinks! For all of that, you'd think you're paying a lot. It's similar priced, if not cheaper, than bigger theaters.
I went to see the new Star Wars movie . kind of surprised by the way they redid the theater. I was able to have a cocktail before I went into the movie and I seen people even bringing food into the theater sort of like being in your living room with the seating arrangements being so nice. What would be great is if the joining restaurant serve Italian food.
Favorite theater in the area. They have only a couple screens but there's usually something I'll want to see playing with a mix of blockbusters and indie films. I was confused by the seat reservation system the first time I used it (made me feel like an idiot - grayed out seats are what's available) but a quick phone call and the employee helped me figure it out. They renovated not that long ago so the building is updated and clean.
Fun place to take your kids on the weekends!
Beautifully restored and they have alcohol! Overall a great place to see a movie
A great urban venue for a movie or drink at the bar. Great place to host an event.
The Davis is SO much nicer since the update. I used to not be able to sit in the seats due to a back injury. And it's such a convenient theater for me-that it was a bummer to have no desire to go there because of the old seating. I have absolutely grown to prefer a theater that allows you to choose your seats, so that it an automatic win. They have some pretty cool events regularly and good social media presence. It is definitely still very much a neighborhood theater, just updated to feel like you're not going to the movies 30 years ago.
Classic independent movie theatre, recently underwent renovation to enhance its Art Deco interior. Big plus: has a bar that lets you take drinks into some performances.
I've loved this theater for a long time. That being said the experience now, compared to the pre renovation, is fantastic. Great restaurant, drinks for all ages, movie marathons, good sound and comfy seats. What else could you want.
I’d come here any day over an AMC or a Regal. Limited theaters, but they always have top movies playing and special features as well. Popcorn is awesome and they have a great drink selection of pop/wine/beer. Doesn’t hurt that they have the Carbon Arc restaurant next door if you want to grab a full meal or cocktail before your show. They have a digital ticket system too just like the big guys so there’s no reason you shouldn’t see your movies here!
What a great combination of old and new. The restored theaters are amazing. The work that went into keeping the original facade was well worth it. Amazing sound and picture quality. The restaurant and bar area is top notch with friendly staff. The old fashioned is a must have.
Great theater with a dope bar w/ some decent drinks. The beer selection is quite a good rotation. I haven't had the food yet but one day I'll have dinner before a showing. I've come here about a dozen times in the past 6 months and I have no complaints. The theaters are clean and well taken care of. The image and sound quality is good too. I wouldn't come here if you were looking for an imax or 70mm showing but it's still a great gem in the neighborhood. Grab a few friends, block out some time and hang at the movies for a few hours.
I’ve been here at least 10 times to eat and see movies, snacks are extremely overpriced but food is good and movies are good.
The Davis is an amazing theater in Lincoln Square! Great mix of throw back and modernization in the decor. They also do a wonderful job of partnering with local non profits and causes!
This place used to be a bit of a dive, but had a great location and cheap tickets. They still have a great location and cheapish tickets, but are now one of the nicer looking theaters in Chicago and added a full service bar and restaurant.
Food is great, we ate in the restaurant. Seems like it might be awkward to eat at your seat but we didn't try it. Also, be aware the first few rows are very close to the screen, steep stadium seating. The seats recline a lot though and are very comfy.
Such a great experience definitely had a great time. They have an attached Restaurant and bar and the seating is comfortable.
Love the improvements they made. A local date location gold mine. With the attached restaurant serving good food and a movie just steps away you can't go wrong!
I've lived in this neighborhood for over 25 years and used to avoid this theater if a movie mandated great audio and optics. Not any more! Now that The Davis has been remodeled and vastly improved, I'll see any movie here. Of course, it still occupies the same physical space, so each theater is relatively small, but you can reserve your exact seats ahead of time and can have dinner and drinks in the adjacent restaurant - love it!
This is one of my 2 favorite theaters in Chicago. The attached restaurant is great and keeps upping their game, they have both a full service bar and quick drinks at the snack stand. The theaters are nice with good quality sound. Plus its gorgeous old theater architecture.
I got nachos and a drink here because they didn't have any hot dogs. The alcohol selection was ok, but I got something pretty basic and it was great to sip through the movie. The seats were comfortable and the crowd was well behaved. I would watch a movie here again!
This is a nice little theater. I sometimes question their film selections, but I can count on them to show some solid stuff for the most part.
Having grown up in Lincoln Square and walking to the Davis as a child, I love the renovations they've made! It makes me happy that the owners care enough about the history of the place to restore with respect to the past, while upgrading it with modern amenities. The bar and restaurant are nice with good bar service and food. The theater was very comfortable with room between the seats to place a plate of food if you wish (all food/drink from the restaurant may be brought into the theater). Clean is not a word I would have associated with the "old" Davis, but it certainly is clean now. Bravo!
We went for an Incredibles 2 party and it was fantastic! The theater was super clean and my kids were entertained the whole time before the movie. The art deco inspired decor was impressive and so much nicer than normal theater decor. They didnt play any previews which is great when you are with 3 kids under 6! They have local treats to enjoy and a mix of classic movie candy too. Fresh popped popcorn and a super cute restaurant attached! Added bonus, street parking was a breeze!
Excellent, I would definitely choose to watch my movies here again.
Theater is nice and clean, spacious with three screens. Parking is a problem, so I'd consider it a neighborhood theater. Consider public transportation. Sound during the movie was really loud, but it was A Star is Born. I would go again, but probably not on a Friday night.
Newly renovated and pretty decent experiences. Some tips.on the soda, if you get a large they have refills but unfortunately I didn't get that information until I purchased the medium. Cleanliness was on point and staff was good as well. I had a pretty good experience overall. I would go back.
This is a great theater. They don't have a lot of screens, so they won't have every movie that comes out, but they have the good ones. Seats are comfy and the overall aesthetic is really nice since it's been recently redone. Grab some food in the restaurant before or after your movie, and grab a drink at the bar to take into the theater. My only complaint is that they don't have recycling.
during my childhood this is where i saw Star Wars Episode 1 and many other amazing 90's movies. although the inside looks different from back in the day
Small nice neighborhood theater. They serve drinks, and usually have a drink special. The theater feature a restaurant/bar. The food is a little pricey. But if you are waiting for the movie to start, it's a nice place to sit if you can get in. It's usually pack too.
Great theatre. Located in a great neighborhood. Comfortable seating and good sound
Wonderful movie:"Bohemian Rhapsody" & music/sound is fabuloso! Theater seats:comfortable & bathrooms clean & current.
Nice neighborhood theater ya'll!!
Great remodeling job and Very cozy! Excellent ticket & concession prices. Theatre is also a great temperature. Very comfortable! Please visit!!!
Best place ever
Nice local theater, affordable concession stands. Lots of places to eat and drink around. Seats are standard and there are only three movies at a time.
Havent been here since the 80s. Wow has it changed! Saw toy story 4 and the kid loved it . Especially the memory telling of her uncle and i seeing poltergeist and nightmare on elm street 3 there as kids!!
Love Saturdays here the food is yummy and the bartender is so cute
I really love everything they've done with this theater since the remodel. It looks really great inside and the seats are super comfy. They don't do online ticketing thru Fandango, so you've gotta use their website, but they do have reserved seating.
Friendly staff, comfortable seats and temperature, decently-priced beer. Only complaint is the box office/concessions layout is dumb.
Wonderful seats. Reserved seats. Excellent!
Great place, except the sound was so bad that it was hard to understand the movie, and the image lacked clarity of modern cinemas. Remodel is lovely. Nice people. Great concessions. But the point of the place is the film, and an upgrade to the projector and sound would perfect it. I want to love this place so badly... Hoping for improvements. Then it'll be my joyous home for seeing movies.
Awesome classic local theatre. Great seats and local products in the concession stand
Love this neighborhold movie theater ❤️
A very nice theater in a cozy neighborhood. Great popcorn too!
I was pleasantly surprised by this place. It's small, but the interior has an modern take on an old theater. The bar/restaurant next door is great because you can order and bring your drinks into the movie.
Clean, beautiful and you can bring drinks in from the bar into the theater.
Great neighborhood movie theater, recently (within the last couple of years) renovated with a nice lobby and seats that aren't falling apart anymore. Upscale food and adult beverage options make the snack bar more like a snack lounge, to coin a phrase. Not as cheap to see a movie as it was pre-renovation, but "you gets what you pays for", as Adam Smith never said but should have.
A sign of the urban yuppie, gen X, what ever The current " we going save world idealists" Call them selves "really, what next waiters" with streaming on the internet movies can be seen a lot more comfortably, with no annoying people who believe the people in the movie can hear them, though I doubt we ever get rid of commercials. I for am not one one who enjoys paying more for popcorn and a soft drink (though some are connected To a bar of some kind ) than I spent on the ticket for the movie.
It was so nice to have something to do on Thanksgiving and to have the staff in such a good mood was a bonus. Not that they're not usually in a good mood... They are. Love this theater.
I've been here once many years ago and don't even remember how it was. A week ago I came here again to watch THE JOKER (yes... Caps lock) on Sunday evening and it was wonderful :) First: not many people were there. Second: there is the bar next door and the theater allow to buy drinks from there or from theater's own little bar something to drink and to take it with you. So I ended up drinking very nice freshly poured brown ale while watching very good movie with pretty good quality of picture and sound in almost empty auditorium :) Couldn't be better
Cute, old-fashioned, and well-maintained. It's really convenient to order the tickets online ahead of time and reserve seats. Sound travels a little too well (loud kids on the weekends) but still a great theater.
One of the best I ever went to!
Cartoon brunch great for the kids. Totally renovated theater and great bar and restaurant with Carbon Arc.
I liked the theater very much! It’s very convenient in the inside due to its spaciousness. Pricing is okay.
Quaint theater with great service and alcohol!
Wonderful atmosphere, professional staff, clean theater and amenities.
A neighborhood gem, newly remodeled with outstanding sound design in the theaters, comfortable seating, and a top notch staff. Also, check out Carbon Arc, the restaurant attached to the theater.
The staff is excellent and make you feel at home. Beautiful theater too!
Your new updated venue is great. I would suggest you contact Google Business and get this changed: "No-frills neighborhood budget movie theater showing current popular films in an old-school space." Not a very accurate description, in my opinion...."budget", "no frills", "old school".
Great theatre! It's small, not too busy and staff is friendly
I think they did great with the remodel. The seats are much better! The bathroom is pretty nice and several stalls, but there's no main door to the bathroom, which I really don't like. I still gave it a 5 though
Not a place featuring bells and whistles (read; don't expect an IMAX comic book movie opening night experience) but absolutely beautiful since the remodel. So grateful it's in my neighborhood. Oh, and the ability to drink a beer at a movie is magic.
I think this was an old timey theatre turned movie theater. They only have 3 screening rooms, but the one I went to (room 2) was a pretty decent size room. The only reason I'm all the way out here is because this is one of two theaters around 200 mile radius that has e-ticket with MoviePass. And I was able to watch a new movie with my pass. Sucks that it is street parking.
Excellent as always!
Yesterday I seen The Avengers end game at the 7:20 show very good movie and nice time at the Davis Theater I've been going to the Davis Theater since the 70s I go back to work when they had double features there isn't that hilarious had a great time nice people working there I also come in and just get popcorn and leave sometimes I need the popcorn in my car thanks a lot it was nice that I called before the 7:20 show and somebody answered and told me there was a few free seats available so that was nice so I could see the show at 7:20 I like that a lot thanks for answering the phone
Beautiful, great service and staff
Beautiful theater and try Carbon Arc next door for a delicious Smash Burger
Bar Crawling...... Good place to stop on a crawl. Get there before 10 pm for a seat on the bar. After that it's standing room or dancing room only. DJ's starting to get the place in the mood along with the friendly bartenders who serve drinks with a smile. (note- Hot Dog vendor outside...)
The recent improvements made here have lost some old-timey vibe (ticket counter) and I assume they got the main carpet design out of the official "garish movie theater carpet catalog" but Davis still remains a local, friendly neighborhood theater with some added comfort. Love the exposed pipes from the organ days and the movie experience is great. Matinees still don't break the bank.
Avengers End Game was amazing!
Saw intro to Spiderverse. Great movie, amazing theater with a full service bar.
Beautiful theater, love the crowd it draws, too many cool people with a love of good cinema
Friendly place, the bar. Good food. Clean cinema.
Popcorn and drink combo, drinks are MASSIVE Great theater, get to pick your seats, reasonable prices
Great theatre and great atmosphere! Well Priced and clean too.
They play Saturday morning cartoons in a private theater attached to the Carbon Arc Bar. Great for kids! Highly recommend. Great way to brunch and get your kids out of the house.
Easily one of the nicest theaters in Chicago, it's the only one I ever feel like seeing them at; a beautifully restored, 3 screen venue, big enough to get seats without trouble, but not as vacuous as the usual AMC behemoths. In addition, there's a great restaurant attached for dinner and drinks after your movie! Worth giving a whirl.
Favorite movie theater...by far.
It's been my favorite theater in Chicago since I moved here. It WAS simple. Cheap, small, to the point. NOW, they've got a restaurant and bar attached & you can eat it while you're watching a movie. The seat are awesome because they're new & kooshy, and the arm rests lift up so you can cuddle with your lover. It was convenient before, now it's baller!
This is my preferred theater in the area...the update to the interior is very nice.
Beautiful renovation. Feels hip and modern. You definitely won't feel like you're at a chain theater. Cell reception is completely non existent as soon as you walk in. It's like a bunker. Not that you should be on your phone during a movie. But if you pre-purchase tickets and need to pull up your reservation code so it outside and take a screenshot because there is absolutely no reception.
Great old theatre, very affordable, and recently rennovated.
We held a Thursday-night Film Festival at the Davis Theater in April of 2019 and it was amazing. Ben and Ryan were sensational to deal with - from the very beginning when we reached out to ask about renting out one of the theaters, until the very last email exchange, these guys were professional, always quick to respond, and we just felt so well taken care of with them. Their support team they had working with us on the night of our event were so great and they just really helped take the worry out of a somewhat stressful few months of planning. The venue itself is just beautiful, especially Theater 2 where our event was held. It just has a unique and warm feel to it than say, one of the big chain movie theater companies. We want to say a big THANK YOU to the entire Davis Theater team, we have been receive so much great feedback from everyone who attended our Film Festival - everyone absolutely loved it! We appreciate you. <3
Awesome place to go
First time to the theater. It is small but everything is very nice and clean. The staff is really friendly. When we were there on a Sunday evening, it was not so crowded, so I think it is a good place to go if you don't like crowded.
Great staff/service. Theater rooms are ok at best, seats are a little uncomfortable for long movies. My biggest problem though is the sound, I've seen multiple movies here where I've struggled to understand what's being said. At times the reverb can make it feel like trying to watch a movie at an indoor pool. Good theater if you're in the area, but you can do better for $12 if not
Upgraded space looks fantastic. Assigned seating and alcohol concessions gives that downtown movie going feel but with a neighborhood charm.
Great Arts movie theater with standard fare also. Recently remodeled and more comfortable. Location near restaurants and Lincoln Square is good. Some parking issues but use Spot Hero.
Better desert choices/options.
Nice movie experience, wine & popcorn, comfy seats!
I used to come here all the time when I was younger. I see that it has changed for the better. Love it
Quaint, and still awesome after renovations!
Rented a theater out for a family birthday showing of Jaws. It was great!
Haven't been since they revamped the movie house. Great experience! Will be back!
Such a fantastic space! We hosted a company film festival here and it couldn't have gone smoother. Would love to host another event here in the future.
Over 100 year old theater, the Davis underwent a fantastic rehab in 2016, bringing it back towards what it was in its glory days and adding a wonderful restaurant and bar (Carbon Arc). Normally only two current run movies at a time, but there's always fun things going on the weekends - free midnight showings of cult classics, Saturday morning cartoons with brunch, Chicago Underground Film Festival showings, etc. A unique experience that is consistently fun and does a great job at being a fun neighborhood spot too.
Been going to the Davis since back when it was a dollar show. Pretty awesome revamp that has that art deco 1930s feel. The seats are upgraded and so are the screens. Attached is a restaurant with pretty good grub and ambience. I always enjoy my movies here.
Neighborhood gem. Will ALWAYS give them my business first before stepping foot in the multiplexes.
Cool theater with a nice restaurant and good overall vibe--definitely worth a visit.
I like. It is rare that a theater plays movie at a comfortable volume. It was also recently remodeled. Looks very nice on the inside.
I had an excellent cinema experience. Staff was courteous and attentive. The theater has undergone a thoughtful, historically sensitive remodeling. The restrooms have been wonderfully transformed. Additionally, the Carbon Arc is a welcome addition to the mix.
The remodel looks great and very clean around the theater
Great vintage theater with several upgrades. Movie pass is accepted here and they will often have several new releases that aren’t available at other theaters.
It’s kinda tiny and old there but still I got to see my movie so it was a nice stay but it’s very tiny in the theaters and the theater is very old and is full of junk but a very nice place.
Very well rehabbed while keeping the local charm.
My FAVORITE Chicago theater. This historic place had a massive renovation to update everything while preserving the art deco style. My wife and I would regularly travel 45 minute on the train from downtown just to go here. They don't have show times on the major sites like Fandango, but their site is easy to use. Staff is friendly too. We bought tickets online and changed our mind on the way to switch to another show around the same time. Even though the policy is "no substitutions" they were able to switch it for us at the counter. The snacks are good and they even serve beer at the concession stand. Go early and grab a meal at the Carbon Arch restaurant that is part of the same establishment. The burger is great.
Nice restoration of an old theater but rarely do they show quality movies. For the most part it’s just pop culture, money maker favorites - animation, superhero-SiFi, etc... As a neighbor I’d visit more if they would show movies that adults actually want to see. Until then, Landmark Century, Music Box and even the Logan theater get my business.
1st time visiting since the remodel. It looks great! Nice interior, movie theatres are comfortable, sound quality is good. I'll miss the grime component of old, but I guess u have to give the public what it wants...
Really nice experience. But nothing compared to old Davis. There were endless commercials, some not quite appropriate for kids. Tickets now you buy online and you pay 1 just for 'convenience'... For whom I ask. Popcorn and ushers are as nice as before. We don't go to movies as before because there are no friendly cinemas anymore.
Nice old fashion theater with a sassy new look. The movie prices are affordable and the consesions have a great variarity of beverages. The seats and sounds of the theater have nothing to envy to bigger cinemas.
One of my favorite theaters in Chicago. Gives you the old school feeling of a cinema with the comforts of new school multiplexes.
I've never met worse staff. They tried to tell us that you needed to be 21 to see a r rated movie. When we showed our id she said it looked fake. Please don't support these people.
Chicago Classic, saw Into the Spiderverse here and it looked especially good without a worn down screen like in other theaters.
My new favorite. So classic
The Davis has started showing older movies for free with drink specials from Cultwater Spirits. I got to see one of my all time faves, The Fifth Element, on the big screen. Simply awesome.
They have the best service, this place would be my very own movie theater spot
Great food but seats could be nicer
Great place, staff is friendly. Love the retro feel.
WOW what an incredible theatre! This places really astounded us. The interior is so classy and feels like the golden age of movies: Art Deco with beautiful modern touches and amenities. The seats are comfortable and have a stadium-type layout so you never have to worry about someone tall sitting in front of you. Sound and picture quality are phenomenal. Popcorn is one of my favorite foods, even when I’m not at the movies. We had both the classic and Chicago Mic gourmet popcorn...both were so delicious!
Recently remodeled small neighborhood theater. Glad they preserved the classic decor. A big improvement over what it was like, though I could do without the assigned seating.
Saw Rocketman... Good theater to see a movie in...seats are relatively spread out...
Greatly renovated, nice bathrooms, good movie theatre food
The theaters themselves are cool but I went with my brother and few of his tween friends and the young lady at the counter was saying we need at least one 21 year old but I'm positive r rated movies require a 17-18 year old guardian so our 21 year old peer showed his ID and she talked to her other female cashier who was not as mean to us that "it's a Florida license haha it's probably fake" like we looked like godamn McLovin'. Like girl. It kinda soured my visit honestly bc it just wasn't cool.
I love how they renovated. Their matinee price is a good deal at $9.
Small, but very clean and up to date movies
Great small theater in the neighborhood. Clean, great seating, great sound and delicious snacks.
Great renovation of this classic old theater and nice little bar.
Really cool little movie theater! Very friendly awesome employees!
I go here every 3 months
Fun local theater with lots of interesting films
The old one was better.
Well I have lived here off and on my whole life and the Davis was always there with me growing up with the previous owners till now. Thanks for getting rid of the condom water fountain..
im a huge fan of smaller theaters and this is one of the best in town.
I love that you get to pick your seats before going into the theater. Davis does great events for the community too. I love the Davis Theater
Wonderful, cozy neighborhood theatre nestled in the heart of lincoln square for the mature at heart. Modern upgrades to previous vintage style produces a bright, warm and welcoming atmosphere. Boutique style counter for ticket and popcorn processing. Quick tickets in-house, online and presale online. Walk through area to restaurant cafe serving food and beverages attached, north of the counter. Plenty of restrooms in great condition. Grand entryway is perfect for staying out of the downpour rain, snow and wind draft while waiting.
Great place to see a movie. Has been completely renovated with a bar attached.
I went there recently to watch Last Jedi and it was the first time I've been there since they renovated. It's very nice while still keeping the feel of a classic cinema. They serve beer at the concession stand, which is awesome.
