REVIEWS OF Cinestudio IN Connecticut

Colleen Ann

Such a gem! Love the new seats!

Jessica Glass

Cinestudio is one of the best things about Hartford. It's very fortunate that an independent theater with programming and presentation technology of this caliber exists where it does and for how long it has. From the Voice of the Theater speakers with tube amp sound system to the gorgeous digital cinema projector and excellent lens, to the scalloped curtain and the real wool fiber woven carpet with the Cinestudio logo, this is a movie-goer's dream palace. AND they screen 35mm and 70mm films from FILM PROJECTORS! As an added bonus one of the co-founders, the very knowledgeable and passionate James Hanley is often available for impromptu discussions after the films.

Erik Bowen

Edward Porter

Great spot to see movies. They sometimes show 70mm film prints.

Geoffrey Hansen

Great movie theater, good off mainstream showings.

Fred Howard

I basically loathe going to the movies but will gladly go back to Cinastudio! Old-timey vibes with great picture and sound quality. Other reviews say that you can bring food but we attempted tonight and they said that they don't allow food- heads up! They do have a soda machine though. Anyways, totally cool theater playing interesting movies located on a beautiful campus- I'll definitely be back!

Benjamin Tautges

A true local gem. Delightful movie house for intriguing and beautiful films.

Andrew Newman

Hands down the best art house in Connecticut

Cinestudio is one of Hartford's treasures. One of my fond memories of my years living there was trudging across Trinity's campus on a Friday or Saturday night towards the red lantern at the doorway to the theater. I saw a lot of really cool movies there - Bullets Over Broadway, the cleaned up re-release of Vertigo, Le Cercle Rouge (!) - made all the cooler because I could watch them from a balcony seat in a theater with a lot of character.

John Bates

2001...original theatrical release..wow

I didnt love the movie but what a great theater. There is no better place to see a film.

Cinestudio is a wonderful little independent cinema which marches to its own unique beat. Because they maintain 35mm and 70mm film projectors as well as modern 4k digital equipment, they can show classic movies as well as modern works. As much as I love them though, I can't give them five stars because most of the seats are low and the rows are really close together, so sitting through a long film like tonight's Lawrence of Arabia means leg cramps and numb feet. And I would happily contribute to a fund drive to add some kind of ventilation - it can get pretty stifling in there.

Patrick J Flaherty

Best place to watch movies in Connecticut by far.

Saeryn Wilcoxen

Delightfully classic theater. Definitely take advantage of any chance to visit!

Jessica Bilyard

Michael Ward

Classic stuff on a big screen

Thelma Raney

What a beautiful theater. Just like a circa 1940's movie hall with a scalloped curtain going up, it has a balcony and a larger screen than modern multiplexes. Seating is comfortable, not stadium though. It was easier to get to from I-84 than I-91 and wasn't crowded on a Saturday when all the Trinity students are gone for the summer. Looks like they have a lot of great events on their calendar.

michael landerfield

I'll list pros/cons so easier. Went for first time on nov 28 Pros: Quite Large selection of seats available, including balcony seating Cons: Almost impossible to find if never been there before Seats are very uncomfortable And I know visited it in Nov but omg the heat! Was so hot it made watching movie a pain

Gwen Steadman

Old world theatre. Charming.

David Strong

Fred Fletcher

Great venue for great cinema, classic and current, domestic and international, indie and studio. With a balcony! And wonderful screen curtain ,.

Tyler Lean

Nice atmosphere but movies aren't that great

Bill Paglia-Scheff

Nice theater. Lots of comfortable seating. Balcony and lower level seating. Very large screen. I actually felt too close to the screen sitting in the 2nd row balcony, causing lots of head and eye shifts to watch the film. I also felt like the sound was a bit too loud. Could be personal preference or where I was seated but, it muffled some of the speaking for me. Tough time of year to get it right but it was warm in the theater almost too warm but tolerable. Over all I liked it and on Sunday night we had no difficulty parking. This theater is in the middle of the trinity college campus. They do offer a 2$ senior discount. Not sure of the age for that, best to ask. Safe location, fairly easy access. Was our first time here and GPS only delivers to the general location.
