Went on NYE to see Darkest Hour. The outside temperature was single digit degrees yet the theater was quite warm and comfortable. The film was quite fine and I would be certain to return yo this theater again.

I had made SUCH an effort to conquer my fear of driving in the snow thus was soooo devastated when I DiD, but then arrived to find out they only accept cash. The manager said... "I'm so sorry, can you come back and pay tomorrow or the next day?" to which i said "uh, AB-solutely." So in I went to see the movie and, when i came out?...., the staff had cleared all the cars in the parking lot of the several inches of accumulated snow. You can bet I went back the next day with the cash. LLLOVE this place and the excellent, thoughtful (full-of-thought) service. Thank you again !! :):):)

Quite and great for a retire couple

Cheap seats and idiosyncratic management make this 4 screen place 10 minutes from Yale a terrific value. Don't look for space flicks, but if you like small contemporary movies like RGB this is your place. Hours are the same for all shows, so you know what time every movie is... great place... no credit cards, just the almighty cash dollar. Try it.

The small movies often available only here make this 4-screen theatre essential. But the popcorn is good, too. The narrow seats and aged smell make it less than perfect but so what?

R Goldberg

Good selection of movies, friendly people

A good value. No frills, As basic as ya get.

Usually has movies that aren't still being played in bigger theaters.

The ticket seller is totally rude and never groomed. All else is good.

Very comfy relined seats I felt like I was in my living room chair

This is a small art house type theater. It is cute & old, but they have done some updating, it's clean & fairly well kept. Don't expect the prices to really be less than what you pay at a regular theater, but I can only imagine what it costs to run a movie theater! Usually there are only evening shows, but I imagine most people don't goto matinees for artsy movies. Definitely worth the trip to see those movies that no one else plays!

Arthur Rosenfield

This theater is wonderful, and by far our favorite one in the New Haven area. There is plenty of parking out from, they consistently have the best movies, the price are lower than anywhere else, and the location, right off I91, is convenient to New Haven and most of its suburbs. The popcorn is pretty good too.

Eliana Falk

First run films. This is a privately owned theater, not a chain, which is nice. Nothing fancy. It gets the job done.

Ramon Santana

Nice, clean and the staff ( owner too) are very friendly to the customers good choice for movies

Wilson LaSpina

Good quality films. Homey atmosphere.

Kathleen Pirro

This is a little, old fashioned movie theater. They make their own popcorn, which is good, only have four theaters, and only accept cash. If you want to see some great films, that are not shown in the big box theaters, then be sure to visit this one. There are few small, independent theaters left, and it's nice to attend this theater for the nostalgia alone.

Martin K

Clean, right off the highway, less expensive than other theaters. It is not a fancy theatre complex with bells and whistles, but it shows fine movies and is comfortable--not sure you can ask for more.

Small, old movie theater with none of familiar modern equipment. Good place to catch up on first run movies you may have missed. For me and a lot of seniors a bit of nostalgia.

Flor Valencia

Wonderful cozy movie theater

Love the reasonable prices and ability to watch movies that aren't always based around comic book characters and special effects.

Top quality films shown here. Theatre for people who appreciate good films.

This place is a dump...bad quality, poor service, bad vibes, bad movies. Doesn't accept cards and the place is barely functioning.

Great place! A Gem in a time of corporate movie chains! Great prices! Great films! See something here that will actually make you think and buy popcorn at an affordable price! bring cash, no evil corporate credit cards allowed!

Brianna Chance

This is my new favorite place. It’s so vintage and simple, which makes it serene but still exciting. Personally, I am not very fond of large crowds, so this is a good hang out spot for me. I went to see La La Land (which was sold out everywhere in New Haven but Ciné 4) in the evening and was pleased to see that there were–at most–25 people in an auditorium that could seat about 70. There were no interruptions whatsoever and the employees were very welcoming. This theater is great for catching a movie by yourself or with a few friends; its small size adds sheer charm and intimacy that cannot be found at Cinemark North Haven. (Also, if you’re hungry, there is a cute little diner–91 Diner–across the road! Both of these places make me feel like I’ve gone back in time!)

Jane Vigliotti

Great independent theater! Will definitely be back!

A small family owned movie theater with just 4 screens, hence the name, but the Cine 4 shows some very good movies that are hard to find elsewhere.I went to see the satirical movie The Death of Stalin. Thoroughly enjoyed it. Sometimes a satire better captures the spirit of a time better than a drama.

Like this theater very much - and we come regularly. A good mix of movies, with strong showing of art house films, in a small, neighborhood theater with good popcorn, convenient parking, homey feeling, reasonable prices, and clean restrooms. Cash only.

The one good thing, they show great low budget films you couldn't otherwise see in a big theater. That being said...the staff is rude. The man selling the tickets is very unfriendly and I witnessed him being rude to an older couple in line. They don't take debit cards. Cash only but there isn't an Atm in the theatre. They tell you to walk down the street to a convience store. The last problem was, the theater was freezing cold! Even when i asked to raise the heat, it was still cold for the entire movie.

Phil Brewer

Been going there for years. Glitzy it is not. Homey, friendly, cozy it is. This is the place for people who are passionate about good films.

Bruce Johnston

This theater appears to run on a shoestring BUT they show interesting, not run-of-the-mill Hollywood-pop flix. Recommended.

Arlene Johnstone

My favorite movie theater. You can park right in front of the door. It is handicap accessible. You can sit where you choose. It is very clean and comfortable. They show the best movies at great prices.

NANCY C SMITH

I love this little theater. The only indie theater that is easy to get to, free parking, & shows great movies (& they pop their own corn). I just wish that they had a Wednesday matinee all the time.

Noah de Boor

Saw Spectre at this charming movie theater, and I had a fantastic time. Great popcorn and great vibes. If I could give above a 5, I would.

Ralph Cherubin

Movie theater showing more limited run and independent films that don't get shown at the major theaters. Fortunately, the inside is nicer than the outside. Pretty old school, no modern niceties here, but that gives this place some charm. Popcorn is good; seats could be more comfortable.

One of the few wonderful independent theaters left! Really good films are featured here and I was lucky enough to view the movie Mustang! Do not miss! Great little snack stand and love the carpet and wallpaper! Very nostalgic!

Had a great experience there. If you want to just go and see a movie, sit comfortably with some popcorn and soda, it's a great time. Seats were comfortable and new, sound was good. Screens are old-style, which puts them above your eye-line, which works well. This is not a Disney-ride Theater. If you love movies, want to sit and enjoy one, this is the place. Also, love that they play a mix of Indie and popular movies. It would be perfect if they had a Classic Movie night!

George Hanze

we saw 'Maudie' last night. So glad we drove up to the Cine4 from Norwalk. This independent theater is clean and comfortable seating. it's not the big box theater experience, which we rarely go to since they're geared more towards block-busters and kids. Cine4 appears to appeal to film aficionados. The movie (Maudie) held our attention, form the great acting, the filming and music - highly recommend seeing it in this theater.

I would never go there. I call to ask a question never been there before. They answer the phone hello. I had to make sure I was speaking to a business. I was confused where the entrance was he told me the street twice. He seemed to have no personality. I was polite and said thank and he just hung up. That was very rude in my opinion and I work in customer service. I would never step foot in there. That was a bad first impression. Thank You for your lack of customer service.

My friend and I went to Cine 4 yesterday to see the 7:50 pm showing of Ocean's 8. We get to the door and try to open it, and it's locked! Some lady about 10 feet away behind the counter mouthed the words "We're closed" to us. She couldn't even be bothered to come to the door. It didn't make any sense, especially because there were quite a few cars in the parking lot. Still trying to figure out why they would list a 7:50 pm showing for a movie and then claim that they're closed when you show up at 8 pm. They need to post their business hours online. If they can't even do that, they shouldn't be operating.

Classic movies. Creepy joint

A classic 4-plex theater with only 1 showtime a day for all films. This is a really cool family run place with the feel that you've stepped back in time for just a little bit. The sound is great and the films are projected perfectly in the smaller to medium size theater rooms. Perfect for true film lovers.

Cash only. Prices listed as of 8/2018 are $7.50 for seniors and $9.50 for everyone else. No mention of matinee, child, or student discounts anywhere. When we were there, my kids were the only kids I saw (most folks were seniors). There is a small concession stand, and the snacks are very reasonable in price when compared to the larger theaters. The large popcorn was under $4.00 and was very, satisfyingly large (too much for four people sharing it). Butter was $0.25. A small fountain drink was $3.75 for a large and $3.50 for a small. The theater was small enough that most were good seats. The seats were comfortable enough even for those of us larger folks. However, we ended up sitting under a leak, which I did not learn until after the movie when the kids told us they were getting dripped on throughout the movie. Also, the floor could have been better slanted. I had a little difficulty seeing over a taller person's head, sitting directly in front of me. Customer service was fine. Wish they had more information (ticket prices in particular) available on the phone system, or that it had been possible to reach someone by phone at the theater ahead of time because we didn't know how much cash to bring. But the phone message is updated daily, so perhaps that will change. It felt good to support a small company. I would have given this theater four stars had it not been so much work to track down information about prices; if they had advertised discounts for matinees, children, or students; and if we had not experienced a dripping ceiling while there. A more enthusiastic greeting at the ticket sales counter was not necessary, but would have been nice.

all new and clean seats, not worn out or grungy. Great Popcorn -the best- nice folks who run the theater..... Your regular basic movie theater.. no spot lights, no whirling display lights, no huge crowds, no long lines, plenty of easy parking. you can actually park near the entrance, no long lines... senior discounts.. great sound systems and digital video.. Lots of imported quality films first come first serve, pick your own seating... NICE, Easy... OH! did I say?, great fresh popcorn, no after taste. I also posted a negative about this place.... but it was removed...

We love Cine. We especially love that the theatre is independently owned and not owned by some major corporation. Support local business!
