The seating was comfortable and so were the movies. I did have an issue where i could barely see where i was walking. Especially before the movie when they play the commercials. I feel like they should put more lights in there so this way people can see where they're walking. Everything else though was fantastic!

With there $5 ticket Tuesday and cheap refills on the reusable popcorn bucket. A night out with my family of 4 cost around $30. Can't beat that anywhere. Always clean when I go in and the service is great.

This place is great, it's a little far from where I live but it's worth the extra few minutes. The seats are new recliners that are very comfortable, the food is well priced, and the staff are friendly. The only issue I have is that when you purchase tickets you have to pick specific seats and only sit there. I like to decide when I get there.

We saw the post and were the only 2 in the theater. Saw another movie a couple weeks ago and were one of 2 couples at that showing.

We saw "Peter Rabbit". This kids and adults enjoyed the movie. The soThe 9 theaters are newly renovated with super comfortable reclining seats with cup holders and a retractable swiveling tray tables. You can get delicious buttered popcorn and candy and fountain drinks with the self serve Coke fountain machine with hundreds of customizable flavors. The adults can enjoy a beer or a glass of wine. The ticket prices are very reasonable. I will be returning very soon to enjoy another movie!! _

Apple Cinemas is my favorite theater to go to. Now that they have the reclining seats its the best place to go in the area. The trays they have attached to the seats are also great, no more fumbling to try and hold the popcorn or fighting over who gets stuck holding it. Each tray also has its own cup holder instead of having them inside the arm rests where they get bumped. The only complaint I have is the sound in some of the theaters could use some work, If you are in the bigger theaters like 6 and 7 the sound is great. The smaller theaters though have very weak or not working surround sound and the center speakers are just turned up which is not a very immersive experience. The screens themselves aren't bad but I believe it was theater 7 when I saw Ready Player One had some ceiling tile hanging in front of the screen which was distracting. Overall Apple Cinemas is one of the best theaters you can go to.

Edit 11/11/18: I guess the reason I left this review in the first place was my annoyance that when you look this place up, the primary description says it is "no frills". It still says that. Who wrote that? It's innacurate. I don't know what people expect in a cinema these days - they don't have a full bar with 30 boutique bourbons available, but it is a great place to watch a movie with roomy, comfy reclining seats. People probably see the "no frills" description and move on, and it's really not fair to this business. If you live in Torrington, it's definitely worth driving the 20 minutes to see the movie you want here, because it's far better than the Torrington cinema.

The Barkhamsted Apple Cinema is a nice little movie theater up in the northwest corner of past Wednesday and Torrington in the tractor supply Plaza. They got comfortable reclining seats they offer beer they've got snacks and there's a dollar store next door if they should not have something that you want. It's usually very quiet during the week you can go there in the after early afternoons bargain days, it is only $4.75 on Tuesdays and Sundays before 4. P.m.

Not waiting for food should be ready for customer. But recliner seats with trays fn sweet. They need to do meals or food and it would be the place to go

Under the new owners this place has improved so much. The new seating with the reclining seats are excellent. We recently went to the AMC in Southington and they also have reclining seats, which are a bit more plush, but we felt like our necks were being pushed forward. Apple Cinema's seats don't do that and were perfect. For years these cinemas had an old musty smell to them and that's all gone. Places like this make me want to see more movies in the theater!

This place is awesome! Plush reclining seats, inside tavern, great concessions and very clean. They've done some remodeling and I would choose this theater over Simsbury Hoyts. It was ok. When we arrived, it was hard to find 3 seats that didn't have grease on the trays amd popcorn on the seats. Also, we got there early. They didn't start the commercials until 10 min til the movie started.

Love this cinema. Its close, has super comfy seats. So comfy that i felt a sleep last time with my son on Jurassic World lol Staff is nice and helpful. U can get Urself beer which is amazing. They have everything U need.

Love the new place, reclining chairs, tray that you can put over your lap. Order tickets & pick seard in advance. Also like that you can get deals on Groupon for this theater that are well worth your while ESPECIALLY if your going with a group. They have a nice selection of snacks & my Fav. Is you are in control of how much or little butter you want on ur popcorn they also have a little bar area for the adults & gaming for kids. All in all they REALLY turned this place around. Well worth the extra 15min drive then to go to my local movie theater.

Tried to go see Small Foot today with my kids as it was my daughter's 6th Birthday and there's no school because of election day. Even though I checked the website 5 times before going I got there after an hour and a half drive and the movie was sold out. Talk about disappointment. Tears, sadness, the whole nine for my kid's 6th Birthday. Lesson learned by me. However, Apple Cinemas, maybe another time when you have 2 states that have no school and its a super crappy day out you might make better arrangements for kid movies to be seen. Oh and if you're going here, note that you should buy your tickets online before you get there or you too might be crying with sadness and disappointment. Woof.

We drive quite a ways for the better value and service offered here over some of the larger theaters and they do have the nice seats too, located in a nice quiet area

It's a nice theater, yes. Very comfortable and friendly staff. I was only disappointed because the website said there were closed caption devices being provided, and I am deaf. I went there tonight and I was told they don't provide closed caption devices. I was extremely disappointed since even though I enjoyed the movie, I felt like I was wasting my time and money for a movie I couldn't even understand.

the chairs omg!!! of course refreshments are overpriced, but we paid matinee prices for tickets and just went right to the theatre with no issues. no guards posted at every turn. really cozy quiet atmosphere. love this place, definitely will return

I have read the review submitted by a Jon Wilson and frankly don't know how management could have failed, you walk in buy a ticket and watch a movie. Or you buy a snack first. I have seen dozens of movies there and they always start on time and the theater is always clean with the exception of some popcorn on the floor. What movie theater doesn't have some popcorn on the floor? And I am certain the management didn't put it there. The bathrooms are always clean as well. If you are looking for something more than this maybe a Broadway play would suit you better. And at only $6.00 how can you complain anyway? I will continue to enjoy movies at Apple Cinema, Barkhamsted. Thanks

It's a great movie theater especially when you consider the little town it's in. I was completely taken by surprise by the nice reclining chairs in the theater, that's the way movies were meant to be watched. The prices are great considering that I went on a weekend. Very surprised by this movie theater. Definitely coming back again.

I don't know what theater Mike and the retired health inspector were in, but it certainly wasn't, Apple Cinema. I have been there several times and found the bathroom and stalls were always clean. There was no garbage or popcorn bags in between the seats in the theaters and also was always clean.
