Here we offer you all the opinions of people like you who use the products of Landmark\'s Esquire Theatre (Movie Theater) in the state of Colorado.
At this moment this firm gets a score of 4.5 stars out of 5 and that score has been based on 432 reviews.
You must have seen that the average of ratings is virtually the top, and it is based on a high number of feddbacks, so we can be quite sure that the score is quite accurate. If many people have bothered to give their opinion when they've done well, is that it works.
As you know, we do not usually stop to set reviews when these are positive and we usually do it only if we have had a problem or issue...
This Movie Theater is classified in the category of Movie theater.
Midnight movies on Fridays and Saturdays are really fun if you're looking for an alternative to just going to the bars. Love it here.
Nice little older theater that is well maintained and has lots of charm. However, I just wanted to see Rocky Horror. I specifically picked a night when it didn't say there were any "shadow casts" or anything like that, but when I got there I found out there was going to be a live cast, doing all sorts of things during the movie. I tried to play along and be a good sport, but after a picture of ice water to the face, and constant shouting over almost every bit of the movie, I ended up with a headache and had to leave 15 mins in. I just wanted to see a movie. I do not recommend going to the Rocky Horror show here if you actually want to see any of the movie, or if you're over 25. If you've ever been kicked out of a theater for being disruptive, you'll love it. A for effort guys, but really not my bag.
High quality snacks. They just need new seats.
Great theater with interesting movies selections.
The esquire always has the best independent films on the market.
Love this place but WHY DID YOU PAINT IT BROWN??? The quirky purple exterior was one of the main reasons I came
Cool, vintage style
Probably one of the best old school theaters in Denver. Great selection of snacks, wonderful crew working here as well. Its intimate and you can't go wrong with the classic they play throughout the year.
Small quaint (never used the word "quaint" before but I think it fits) theater. Great selection of snacks and some of the best movie popcorn I've ever had.
love the old school independent movie theater experience.
Some of the seats have lost their oomph, but the landmark theater is one of my favorites because of the variety of movies they see, and the price of a ticket and popcorn is far less than AMC or Regal
What a fun theatre! We enjoyed the The Big Lebowski! Great movie trivia! This was my 1st visit! I even won popcorn! Great late night alternative movies! We will be back. This is a really cool old theatre! Great friendly and upbeat staff! What a fun and awesome time together!
Wonderful, pleasant staff, old style movie experience...
Love the events they do here and the older feel to the theater. Don't miss out on the Midnight Movie Madness - you might catch one of your favorite movies there. The food was typical theater food (which is awesome because it was delicious).
I ABSOLUTELY love the hospitality. They have always made our experience a delightful one
beautiful theatre! great selection of movies and they play classic movies at midnight on friday and saturday!
Went for "Rocky Horror" was a great time.
Love it here man. All I can say.
i love going to their cult classic midnight movie! fantastic to see some of the great older movies on the big screen for the Wednesday shows too
Fun! Went to see Isle of Dogs here and it was a charming and old school theater. If I see something artsy sometime soon I'll definitely go here again. Parking is limited so expect to park in the neighborhood around the theater.
It saddens me to give this place a one star review, but it doesn't deserve more. You are more likely to see a good film there then you would at a multi-plex, but a first rate film will be given a third rate experience (which is generous) at the Esquire. I went to a midnight screening recently and the sound/projection was horrendous, It was advertised and employees claimed it was a 4k projection but it was clearly no better than 1080P, and there was some horrible sound coming from the vents which you could hear during quiet scenes. Plus they turned on the house lights while the movie was still running. And a friend of mind experienced discrimination from an employee there, which she will be addressing with the help of an advocacy group very soon. (I'll leave that to her but it does very much reflect on why I feel this place doesn't deserve more than one star, so I'm mentioning it) Most of these glowing reviews are likely from folks who don't care about audio/visual quality . It's one thing to show a great film, it's another thing to give a great film the treatment it deserves... that isn't happening at the Esquire. I happen to think that's important.
The midnight rereleases of classic movies is so cool I can't bear to knock off a star for the subpar 1927-esque seats. An amazing place where the staff are as passionate about movies as those who show up for movies at midnight. Special shout to the manager who does trivia before the Friday night reshowings for his obvious passion and knowledge - and also, this is of course your spot in town for Rocky Horror, if you're into that sort of thing.
Every so often I go to the Esquire theatre. What I really enjoy is that they play movies that the regular theatres do not play. Staff has always been nice. I know this isn't necessarily good for their business, but I enjoy the fact that the theatre is never packed with other people like at the regular theatres.
Great place for midnight showing off Rock Horror Pictureshow!
New seats, new concession stand, new movies and all the old great ones
One of the greatest theaters in Denver. Has an authentic feel to it that really enhances the viewing experience.
Classic movie theater showing independent films. Great, knowledgeable, and friendly staff. On Friday/Saturday nights they show an older movie at Midnight (SO fun & eclectic.) Be prepared, some of the seats need recushioning, but that is part of the nostalgia.
Had to stand outside for 20 minutes with 30 other people because the employees didn't have a key to get in. A manager arrived apologized and then we stood out side for another 15 minutes while employees popped popcorn and did whatever else they need to do before opening the doors. The movie was great but we were sitting in a theater that felt like we were in a refrigerator. I have been to this theater many time and have never had such a strange experience.
Best theatre! People who work there are great and they show first rate movies
Great theater for checking out less mainstream movies
Cool experience. Went her for Rocky horror picture show
Great movies that aren't usually in the bigger theaters. Great staff. It has the feel of the old neighborhood movie theater. If they could update one thing it would be to get new cushions on their seats. Some of them are just fabric over springs and you sink right down to the seat frame. But other than that, I love the Esquire
Love this old school theatre, check out midnight movies
This is a great place to see Indy film. They use real butter on the popcorn.
Incredible place. Will be back.
We enjoyed the movie and the theatre very much. We had driven down from Loveland and will come back.
Would be nice to have an elevator for disabled folks otherwise great times
Yes .a good place for movies in the afternoon.
The seats are all pretty battered and worn. The theater has a gentle slope, so it is hard to see past people's heads. The popcorn was fresh and tasty.
The seats can be a bit worn down, but otherwise the Esquire is a blast from the past. It seems like all movie theaters today are lowering the number of seats in the theater to accommodate large reclining chairs. The Esquire doesn't mess around with any of that. You'll come in and get a good seat with the people you came with every time. The staff is friendly and does their best to ensure you have a positive movie experience.
Was treated very kindly and I like how the theater has a cozy, homy feel to it. Went to see the new Anne Hathaway movie.
Love this place! (so done with big theatres, and the low quality movies they feature); and the personal welcome is awesome since there's isn't much of that anymore.
Esquire always hosts great special events. I've been to multiple "one night only" shows and it's always been an enjoyable experience. The only down side is if the concessions is off their game that night; make sure to come early if you want to buy popcorn because they don't do large batches and will get slammed.
Nice theater. Old but that is some of the charm. The movie selection is pretty good. This is not for Blockbuster shows but rather indie films.
Great opportunity to watch movies you probably won't find anywhere else.
Great selection of movies. The midnight movies are fun and they feature a good mix. Miyazaki films are shown frequently.
One of my favorite spots in the city, they show indie and classic movies that are hard to find elsewhere and they've retained that classic theater feeling, rickety seats, velvet curtains and all.
This seems like a fine enough theatre, though a bit seedy. Be aware that two of the three theaters are inaccessible to people who cannot climb stairs.
I love this place so much! Great movies and the best popcorn
I love this place. The midnight screenings are a blast!
Awesome theatre that plays unique films!
Small but cute little theatre
Always a great experience!
Great little local theatre - they show a lot of indie films and do midnight showings of classics. The one downside is that the seats are not that comfy, so be warned!
Very pleasant theater. Good selection of movies. Great service.
Go and go often, you won't regret it! I love seeing movies at the historic indie theaters in town. So much fun, so much character, so much different than the multiplex! The concessions are outstanding (I highly recommend the vegan cookies!) and the movie selections are always top notch. This is the way to experience a movie.
Had a great time. Would be a 5 star but the seating in the upstairs theater is a bit cramped. Will definitely go back.
This is one of my favorite places on Earth~ So many good memories have been made during midnight shows for me. The Esquire offers the opportunity to experience movies on the big screen that I hadn't before~ The facts/trivia before the show are really enjoyable, as well as the other folks that come to see movies here. It's a completely different experience from others theaters which keeps me coming back~
Great people and they know their movies like no one else in town. No matter what is playing, this place is always worth a visit.
Great theater that shows indie flicks and cult classics. Absolutely love the Midnight Madness showings. And the popcorn is delicious - real butter!
Awesome theatre!!
Nice quaint place. Great movies
This is an older theatre in a trendy area south of downtown Denver, CO. There is offstreet parking available at no charge. The movies are either out of theater, art, or festival babies. Wonderful place. The theatre itself could be a little more updated, but the service and friendly atmosphere compensates. Will be back.
Newly remodeled, it had a nice look and feel. Seats were comfortable, and the sound system was very good.
Great little theater- they do midnight showings of classics. nice and cozy but the seats are not comfortable.
Nice folks. I like to give myself a few minutes to park.
Best popcorn I've ever had.
Great movies but make sure you pick the right seat. Some seat cushions are in bad shape.
Love the place, the people, the snacks, everything. The chairs could be a little more comfortable but other than that, great establishment
Great theater, a nice change from the big AMCs and all that jazz. The occasional midnight showings of cult classics are dope.
While the theatre has a large screen and superb sound, the upstairs theatre is an embarrassment. The seats in both screening rooms are the nightmare on Downing Street. Landmark should be ashamed -- this is an Elvis Cinema for independent films! The Chez Artiste and the Sie Film Center understand that comfort counts.
One of my favorite theaters in Denver-so quaint and charming! Plays a great variety of independent movies, and cult classics (the Rocky Horror Picture show is a must, especially when they have the live cast!). My only complaint is the upstairs theater, about half the seats will have you craning your neck the entire movie. I would recommend calling to see where the movies are playing, and attempting to avoid busy showings in the upstairs theater.
While selection of movies is choice, one can feel the springs in the seats all misshapen under one's butt - a bit uncomfortable!
GO THE LAST SATURDAY OF EVERY MONTH. YOU WON'T REGRET IT!
I love everything about this place aside from one rather crucial factor. The location is great, they show an awesome lineup of films, the staff is friendly, BUT the seats are the legitimately the worst ever. I wish so badly they would invest and replace the seats. I find myself avoiding longer movies here because my back literally cannot take the pain imparted by the seats. I am so done after 90 minutes in those torture devices. Both the Mayan and Chez Artiste have much better, upgraded seating. Wish Landmark would do the same here.
Theatre had an old-timey feel which I enjoyed. However, the popcorn was RIDICULOUSLY pricey so sadly I didn't have a snack during the movie :(
Old school art house. First class concession stand.
This is my favorite movie theater in Denver, mostly for sentimental reasons. I have seen so many good films here over the years! Besides the films, however, there are many reasons to like the Esquire. The members of the staff are always friendly and helpful. The concessions are diverse and tasty, a bit out of the ordinary. The movie guides and reviews are helpful and interesting. Oh, there is also a fun and free-wheeling midnight movie program. While I haven't gone to that in years, I like that it is available for younger movie-goers (with presumably more wakefulness and energy). And here's my favorite thing: there are usually postcards, bookmarks, or other free goodies pertaining to current or upcoming films. The theatre now has fancy new seats, too!
Really great theater one of my favorites
What a great little theater really loved it
Great movie experience. Felt old school and intimate.
Love this place and the films, but they do need to replace the seats.
A movie theater with a classic vibe
Fun. I saw the movie for the 53rd time tonight (actually early this morning ). And it's been almost 30 years since I last saw it. The audience participation has become much greater than it was 30 years ago.
The mood of a good old movie theatre, with upgraded comfort. Love the theatre manager interoducing the movie with additional notes about the actors and the director. For the fan of movie from the past a must is the monthly "midnight madness"
Nice arts theatre with a personal touch. Not a lot of ambiance but still a fun place to see a movie in a great neighborhood.
Nice quant little theater. Seats were pretty uncomfortable. It has old school seating witch makes viewing the movie difficult if there is a tall person in front of you.
Seats are the worst I’ve ever experienced.
Had the snacks we like and the theatre was clean, seats comfortable. Not alot of leg room if you have long legs but adequate.
Great movie - Linda Ronstdt, seats are still uncomfortable. On this trip, popcorn was meh.
My first time at this theatre. It is small, but very charming. Parking can be difficult during the day, but the space is worth a visit to see a movie.
A very nice but small movie theatre. A great way to support local small businesses and see films with a limited release.
Saw a bad movie but the theatre was great, small friendly place
Amazingly friendly staff, they put my dinner leftovers in their fridge so they didn't go bad during the movie. Fun, local spot.
Like a step back in time! Local favorite! The Esquire always runs the most unique cinema selection in town.
One of the only places in Denver to show other than mainstream movies.
Love the theatre. They have great employees and interesting movies. The seats are old and a little tight. The theatre itself is old so air conditioning is hit or miss.
Very old theater with charm. Was on 2nd floor. Nice screen and not a bad seat in the house. Well, actually all the seats are (physically) bad! But definitely an old time theater experience.
Great selection of movies, particularly re-runs of older classics. Rocky horror picture show at midnight is awesome! Some reviews are right that it needs a little TLC but worth a trip where you can have a cocktail or glass of wine during your viewing.
Great place. When the manager came in to the theater before trailers, I felt like a little kid again. Such a great touch. Keep it up!!
I love the movies they show here, but they could do with an upgrade in seats especially in the upstairs theater.
I'm biased because I'm on cast for the Rocky Horror Picture Show, which you should go see on the last Saturday of the month at midnight.
The Esquire is without doubt one of my favorite places in Denver. They show the Room and Rocky Horror at least once every month at midnight. They also get a lot of the indy releases that bigger theaters don’t pick up and have a well-curated rotation of classic movies mixed in as well.
Small venue excellent for cult classics
Landmark- the name says it all. Great mix of independent and foreign films
Had fun seeing a screening of The Room. Worth checking out for any screening.
Love the Esquire for independent and less mainstream films. Cozy and reliable. A Denver landmark.
We saw the room here on Friday night, and I thought the Dallas crowd was wild, but we've got nothing on Denver!
Agree with all of the other rave reviews, and like that it isn't always packed.
Movies! People who don’t care if you quote Steve Martin films! And only $20 to get some popcorn! Yummy yay!
Went to see Rocky horror picture show, had a great time!
Hi there, I went to the Landmark's Esquire theater in Denver about 2 years ago and I really enjoyed going to see some movies that I'd really like. (I didn't take any photos of this place when I was there during the movie, but I really enjoyed going there when I was able to see movies in Denver.) :)
Downstairs theater is marvelous. Upstairs theater needs seats that aren't broken and the screen needs cleaned.
A real movie theater. Like in the movies. Like from back before the long ago. Yes please.
Movies are great at Esquire, as is fresh popcorn with real butter. Unfortunately, seating is AWFUL, can't be exaggerated how bad it is. All other Landmarks have either stadium seating or newer seats. Only Mayan and Esquire lag behind. A disgrace given theater prices these days.
Love this place. Quality programming in a friendly environment.
Great Indie films And snacks!
The new seats upstairs are a very tight fit and uncomfortable for anyone 6 ft and over or hefty.
Great place. I can't wait to go back.
Great shopping and food selection.
Watched the premiere of A Very Sordid Wedding. Staff is very friendly. Nice theater considering it was built in 1927. My partner of exactly 5 yrs proposed to me after the show. Definitely an everlasting memory.
They have a very good selection of movies not shown in the mainstream theaters.
one of my favorite places to see a movie in Denver, not the most comfortable if you are accustomed to recliners and micro-brews but still a nice clean theater with a good selection of rotating films.
Wonderful location. Staff is terrific. A Denver gem!
Very eclectic, but really great staff and movie going crowd.
Love the vibe, unique selection of films and the midnight showings are so much fun
This place shows some great foreign and independent films. The staff is very friendly just like all the other Landmark theaters in town. This is an older theater so seating comfort is not great and the setup in some of the theaters are out dates but it has charm. It’s is always clean and enjoyable and great movies!
Always fun!
Very 1950's style Felt like i should have worn a poodle skirt. The tickets were hella cheap but the price of the food is definitely that of the 21st century.
Wonderful small run movie titles shown here
Love the atmosphere and selection of films. The main theatre takes you back in time to a more classic, elegant era of movie going experience. I have updated this post from my original about the seats. They have replaced their old uncomfortable seats with new ones! Excellent movie going experience.
Great for info movies. There are two screens and even the small one is not bad at all. It looks real small but once the movie starts your be pleased.
I love independent theaters and I enjoy supporting these important historical centers. The Esquire has comfortable seats, a good sound system, and refills on popcorn. Not only that, but the movie selection is excellent.
great staff, love that they show old movies every weekend, could probably dial back on the frequent showing of "The Room" though, unless they're actually making money off that, in that case, keep doing your thing lol.
Redefining customer service & experience for movie goers. Refreshing to know service and theatres like Esquire still exist!
Really cool old movie theater. Seats aren't suuuuuuper comfortable, but people were awesome and popcorn was very delicious!
I like this place. They show movies after they are out of the big theaters. So if you want to save a dollar come here and wait to see some movies. They do like themed times from what i remember. They do like spooky nights. And older nights with classics. They also do less mainstream movies and stuff you cant see elsewhere. I saw meru here and it was amazing! Overall a good "dollar theater" with a different mix of movies to see.
This is a hipster movie venue and it is dated. The seating is in desperate need of updating, you can feel the springs through the upholstery. The bathrooms are out of date.
Although LOVE, GILDA was a beautiful film, it triggered some rough memories for me. The Esquire by itself is a very pleasant environment to watch a film.
Best popcorn, old aesthetic, wonderful people, I love this place
Great indie movie theater that offers movies that you won’t find at mainstream theaters.
This theater is amazing! If you’re a film buff you’re going to love this place. It shows all sort of old cult classics on the regular. The setting is all right, and the food prices are what you would find anywhere else.
The Rocky Horror Picture Show their it was awesome I think I will have to do that again the staff was nice and helpful bathrooms could use some help
Such a great experience! I adore the old films they show here!
Great theater comfy seats and plenty of leg room not to mention they play old school horror movies
It's nice that landmark theatres have survived. Really classic theatres. It's really nice to have the Esquire theatre in the neighborhood. They play all of the "art house" movies, plus, on the weekends they do throwbacks to classic movies. Also, the popcorn is delicious and generously sized. For an art house theatre, the prices are reasonable. $11.50 for an adult evening ticket. You can also purchase online.
Great little theater. Went for The Rocky Horror Picture Show and it was well worth it. Definitely will go back to this theater. Just an FYI Rocky Horror Picture Show is not for the faint-hearted.
One of the few places in Denver to watch non-mainstream movies
Great old time theater! Friendly, charming, fun! Loved it!
love seeing movies here!
Old school warmth and character. Friendly staff.
Lovely theater
Good Movie Glenn Close in The Wife
Oldest theatre in Colo. and it smells like it.
Great theater. Clean and simple.
Always a fun midnight show
