I saw Jurassic Park at Comanche in 1993 while working as a raft guide for Independent Whitewater. We sat in the bed of a pickup and brought sleeping bags- which was crucial because it was cold. What an amazing setting.

Went twice during our stay at Buena vista. Just an awesome experience. The backdrop of the mountains is impossible to beat. On top of that the staff was always super nice and patrons were all happy and friendly. The tickets and concessions are really reasonably priced (and downright a great value given the experience). Would definitely do again if we were staying another week! The screen wasn't that bright (as others have mentioned) but nothing I wouldn't expect at an outdoor drive in theater.

One of our favorite activities in Buena vista. We're normally hiking, riding, and kayaking. But when we need a break from the extreme outdoors, we love the old school Comanche drive in. Here's a good tip. Bring chairs and blankets, pop the back of the SUV open for sound and watch a movie under the stars.

This drive-in movie theater is a true Chaffee County gem! It adds to the list of fun things we just have to do every time we spend time in the Buena Vista area. The beautiful scenery surrounding this gem makes Commanche the most beautiful setting for a theater in the entire world. The breathtaking Collegiate Peaks give movie-goers something to gaze at and appreciate while waiting for the movie to start. Sure, the building and grounds are vintage and doesn't look like much, but I happen to love it because it takes me back to my childhood in the 70's-80's. They used to play older movies which was still fun but I'm very excited about their recent upgrade that allows them to play current movies! I cannot wait to bring my granddaughters to visit this month!

Oh my gosh. Can I tell you what it was like to be driving in the mountains to come across this? I knew there was still a few and these guys have upgraded to digital! How much fun to stroll down memory lane and go see a movie at the drive in! It is a true find and I'll go again the next time I'm out that direction. Beautiful backdrop too!!!!

Love the Comanche! Its $10/adult and I think $5 or $8/kid. They have a little concession stand with snacks and bathrooms. Had a blast watching Beetlejuice!

The family and I drove for three hours to watch "The Princess Bride" there. None of us had been to a drive in, and all liked that movie. So on Father's Day weekend, my wife and I decided to take our girls and go. It was not disappointing. The staff was very friendly, the view of the screen was great, and the other movie-goers also seemed to have a good time. Although it is not up to their control, the weather was perfect during the show, and it all came together for a great night. We will definitely be back!

How AWESOME this little treat out in the middle of a field in the mountains definitly was. I had not been to a drive in in forever. They were showing Wonder Woman. Not such a great movie to me. I know a lot of people liked it. I'd have to say I was not impressed with it. The drive on the other hand I was very impressed with...The scenery at dusk was gorgeous. You are surrounded by mountains ALL around you..The bathroom is small one toilet. The snack bar was really cool. I'd definitely recommend that if you're up for the weekend in Cottonwood springs or Bueno Vista to check them out. Takes you back in time...

The setting is absolutely beautiful. The sound quality is great. They start letting people in at around 8:15pm, but the line forms around 7:45ish. The movie started around 9:00ish. We had a great time and would definitely return.

O..M...G! Drive in theaters are a endangered species. It's a little rough around the edges but the experience is still the sublime of outdoor movie theater. It's like stepping back in time to 1970. Long live drive-in theaters!
