Now this business has a score of 4.5 stars over 5 and the rating was based on 91 reviews.
You must have seen that the average of ratings is almost the top, and it's based on a very high number of scores, so we may conclude that the assessment is very reliable. If people have bothered to evaluate when they are happy with the business, is that it works.
As you know, we do not usually bother to place scores when these are good and we usually do it only if we've had a problem or issue...
This Movie Theater belongs to the category of Movie theater.
We went here to see the new Fantastic Beasts movie and got a weekend matinee. It was pretty full in the theater but there were still empty seats to choose from (lots of couples seats but difficult to find three seats all together) so we ended up in the very back row. It wasn't an immersive movie experience because it's a smaller theater and the room didn't get completely dark. But it was a nice experience and I'd definitely go again.
I love this place.
Cool old fashioned movie theater with nice staff and great movies
Quaint theater. Not an AMC or showcase. Great place to see movies on their first opening weekend. Not crowded.
We went to the encore premier of Scarlet Cay in one of the private theatres and it was very nice. Very clean and comfortable with great refreshment offerings.
Not the best or most updated theater, but $7 tickets beats the $15 everywhere else. The nice thing was that the sound wasn't deafening, which is the case with a lot of the newer theaters. It seems nice for bringing the family, they have an ice cream bar and refreshments, but it was a little crowded and it doesn't look like the place was designed for big crowds. Overall I had a good experience.
I would give the theater 5 stars if the heat worked in theater 1
Have enjoyed coming here 4 years.
Excellent staff, comfortable seats, reasonable prices.
Nice to get away from the mall multiplex once in awhile. This place has character. Parking can be a little bit challenging though.
Golden oldie theater! Never too crowded and it's a venerable neighborhood spot. AND THEY HAVE FLAVORED POPCORN TOPPERS!
Love this theatre! Lots of different kinds of movies and it's local so I can get there without a car.
Lovely theaters and very nice way to end the day. The staff are very nice and the popcorn is unbelievably good. Also the ice cream that is next door is awesome.
Good theater with a homey feel. Nice staff. Great for catching matinees on your day off or going with some friends.
Wonderful Old Style movie theatre. Friendly and hospitable employees. Only wish they showed more movies I’m interested in.
The Capitol Theater has a mellow, old-fashioned vibe, but sells wine and beer, as well as real ice cream. All movies before 6pm cost only $7!
A great local theater, smaller than the bigger chains but in a great local location. Prices are good and they use real butter on the popcorn. They have 5 theaters, and I recommend checking which theater they are showing which movie in. The main theater is great and the others can be hit or miss with smaller screens and not as great of sound. Their partnership with the ice cream shop and serving beer and wine and is the icing on the cake.
Great place to hold children's birthday parties. Historic setting. Very helpful staff.
Great price for a pre 6pm show. All seats good view. Parking on street or convenient to public transportation.
Woooo
Old timey! Fun! How movies should be!
Love this place! It's been around for decades so it always feels like home. They have a great concession stand serving beer and wine along with the usual popcorn and candy. There is also an ice cream store in the lobby.
An old timey movie theatre with a really fun vibe right off Mass Ave. I have always loved the throw back Thursdays in the summertime where they show old movies (space jam, bill murraython, ghost busters to name a few) and throw out free candy into the audience. It isn't the most fancy place and not typically a place to see movie premiers, but it's such a cute spot with a unique atmosphere. The capitol theatre has always been on of my favorite movie theaters in the Boston Area. Would highly recommend visiting!
Wonderful, historic place to watch a film. Architectural marvel. Reasonable prices & delicious ice cream.
Authentic, classic, movie theater ambiance
Old world theater. Separated into multiple theaters. Concessions are not over priced. Clean and not crowded. No reserved seats.
Fun place. Former art deco theater converted it's two-level theater into multiple screening auditoriums. Built in Richardson's ice cream counter with shakes, sundaes and scoops/cones. Affordable relative to AMCs and Landmark theater, $11. Right next door to an Otto's, so you can get a tasty gourmet slice before or after the movie.
Love the ice cream here! Lots of delicious flavor options. Pretty good sizes. Great value. Added bonus if you like the smell of popcorn it ALWAYS smells like popcorn in there since it is inside the movie theater. This place turned me on to nerds as a topping. Highly reccomend the strawberry with nerds. Also the purple cow fro yo is delicious!
Nice old fashioned, family oriented feel, but the bathrooms were way undersized, service at the concessions wasn't great, and it was almost impossible to find parking. Still - we would go again.
This is my favorite theatre of all time. It's great if you have children and you love the vintage movie feel. I try to bring my Son at least twice a month, they play current and new movies at a very reasonable price. Sometimes my Son and I see a blockbuster
I've hosted and attended several birthday parties there. They do a good job for a reasonable price. You pick the movie and bring the DVD or choose a current movie. They provide popcorn, drinks, ice cream, and toppings. There's a little party area with tables inside the theatre or for a bigger party use the ice cream shop. Nice responsive service people too.
Great legacy place renovated, no need for the big fat chairs to enjoy a good movie
Old school feel for the latest movies
Pretty great as a landmark. It's the more grown-up version of the Somerville theater. It's well kept and the people who catch films here tend to be polite and not taking phone calls. Okay beer list. ice cream and beer tend to be shut off while before your film just finished so stock up before you go in.

I love this place.
Took a dump there, it felt great.
Cool old fashioned movie theater with nice staff and great movies
Quaint theater. Not an AMC or showcase. Great place to see movies on their first opening weekend. Not crowded.
First place I ever went to the movies
This place is awesome! It's an old school small town theater. I wish we would've discovered it sooner. Everything is reasonably priced and they have good popcorn. Also, they are cash only, so if you hate atm fees like me, bring cash.
We went to the encore premier of Scarlet Cay in one of the private theatres and it was very nice. Very clean and comfortable with great refreshment offerings.
Cash only. Theater badly needs a remodel/upgrade. On the plus side it's almost always empty.
Have enjoyed coming here 4 years.
Excellent staff, comfortable seats, reasonable prices.
Outstanding! I went on a late Saturday back in August but forgot to review... this place was perfect for the little town of Montpelier. Not to crowded, just right.. many options of comfortable seating and very clean.. overall my two children and I had a great time and will be coming back.
I have few grievances towards this theater, though the couple of grievances I do have were deal breakers. Those who sold me my ticket and concessions were friendly for the most part, and I appreciated their attentiveness. However, I did not appreciate the prices. In short, I paid an outrageous amount of money for candy that actually turned out to be expired...by a couple of months. This was disappointing enough, especially for a theater that takes pride in the quality of their snacks. Thus, I and those who accompanied me decided to take small, bottled sodas from rite aid in with us. Here is where things went downhill fast... Upon entering the theater, our drinks were stowed away. We were not drinking them in the lobby. After we were about 20 minutes into the movie, some lady (maybe one of the managers?) interrupted our experience to confiscate our drinks from us and throw them away without asking kindly, which is definitely an abuse of the already minimal power she held. Some say we shouldn’t have had the soda in there in the first place, though to be fair they weren’t bothering anything or anyone. There were no signs telling us we couldn’t bring our own food or drink in. Additionally, though I typically like to buy snacks from the theater to show my support, I couldn’t bring myself to drain my bank account for an overpriced coke product. I was very unimpressed by this move, as I believe the main motivation for her to take our things and throw them away was because they want to steal our money. The only reason I am not giving this theater one star is because some of the staff were pleasant and I suppose the seats were semi-decent. Again, don’t go here if you like quality control and a good managing staff. The way we were approached about our drinks was humiliating and quite rude. I don’t want to beat a dead horse, so to speak, though I have also heard rumors that the dress code for female workers is supposed to include low cut clothing. I believe that the workers (mostly high school aged girls) should be able to wear whatever they wish without being made a selling point for the theater. Again, this is just a rumor I’ve heard...
Nice to get away from the mall multiplex once in awhile. This place has character. Parking can be a little bit challenging though.
Golden oldie theater! Never too crowded and it's a venerable neighborhood spot. AND THEY HAVE FLAVORED POPCORN TOPPERS!
Seats were comfy and snacks we're decently priced. Loved seeing Justice League there today!
The place is kind of stinky
It's a nice little theatre intend to go a week or two after something first shows and it's pretty empty. The staff is always very nice and the show rooms are always clean. I would recommend giving this place a try
Awesome venue for the Eagle Mushroom Festival speaker sessions- thank you for hosting! I plan to come back next year as well
Packed house for new Star Wars movie..but we purchased online..somehow they let somebody else cash in our tickets. The actual previews to the movie were paused and held up for unknown reasons..suspect the 3D version was oversold so some people were moved to the 2D movie , which we were in.
Love this theatre.
Best place between barre and Montpelier to watch a movie.
Expensive consessions!

Totally awesome had the entire theater to my self
The Capitol Theater has a mellow, old-fashioned vibe, but sells wine and beer, as well as real ice cream. All movies before 6pm cost only $7!
Friendly, great movies!! I wish I lived closer!!
A great local theater, smaller than the bigger chains but in a great local location. Prices are good and they use real butter on the popcorn. Great place to hold children's birthday parties. Historic setting. Very helpful staff.
Not a bad place to see a movie and have some family fun ! Alitle pricier than it should be.
Nice, but wish they had lounge seating.
It's right on state street and have a dedicated parking.
Great price for a pre 6pm show. All seats good view. Parking on street or convenient to public transportation.
Great small theater. Friendly staff. Snack bar is way over priced as they dont even offer free drink refills .
Woooo
Comfortable seats, real cabot butter. And staff was nice
The only theater in VT with enough courage to play the Gosnel movie! And right in the middle of the state's seat of liberal government! Well done!! Comfy seats. Way too many commercials before the show, otherwise would have given 5 stars.
Power rangers
Old timey! Fun! How movies should be!
Everything
This theater is clean and comfy. They offer a nice selection of snacks and REAL butter with their popcorn. This is my go-to place for watching movies.
Great little theater. My son couldn't sit quietly for his first movie, so we left after about a half hour. We didn't expect a refund, but the manager was kind enough to recognize the situation and give us a rain check.
Authentic, classic, movie theater ambiance
This is the only Stadium seating theater within 40 miles of Gypsum / Eagle that I know of. The movies are limited, but the screen is nice (sound is average, could be better). Only had one movie where the bottom half of the show was covered because the camera was angled wrong, but they were very willing to negotiate another viewing if necessary for the trouble. Like others have said, price is good for the mountains, @ $10 a head, but they do not accept plastic/checks.
Old world theater. Separated into multiple theaters. Concessions are not over priced. Clean and not crowded. No reserved seats.

Great place to catch a movie... reminded me of the threatre I went to as a kid
Nice old fashioned, family oriented feel, but the bathrooms were way undersized, service at the concessions wasn't great, and it was almost impossible to find parking. Still - we would go again.
Nice little movie theatre
This is my favorite theatre of all time. It's great if you have children and you love the vintage movie feel. I try to bring my Son at least twice a month, they play current and new movies at a very reasonable price. Sometimes my Son and I see a blockbuster
I did like this experience, almost old fashion experience with modern technology.
Small theater for a small town. Usually high school girls running the ticket and concessions stands and do a pretty decent job. The manager looks a little sketchy but I'm sure he is a nice guy. Seats are more comfortable than I had expected. Popcorn is made with real VT Cabot butter. I like the brightly lit "Now Playing " board in the front of the building. Parking requires parking on the street or going through a dark alley to the back.
Great legacy place renovated, no need for the big fat chairs to enjoy a good movie
Old school feel for the latest movies

Okay beer list. ice cream and beer tend to be shut off while before your film just finished so stock up before you go in.
Old school movie theatre. With real popcorn!!!
Nice place to catch a movie be warned though it's an older movie theater so the seating is a bit old
Watched Infinity War here (second time). Hadn't been since Dumb and Dumber. Awesome old-school theater. Plus, beer.
Beautiful old theater, and not owned by a chain. Runs both first run big Hollywood films as well as indie works, but also classics, black and white, etc. Still maintains the feel of a real, local theater.
Very well organized even for a sold-out show. Be aware though there is no parking lot. The gradient in the seating arrangement is not very steep so that someone tall might pose a problem if they sit in front of you. Bathroom could be a tad updated.
Great value but limited parking
Great place to see a movie, especially for kids/families. Great prices, popcorn & service. $7 Matinee!! Very clean with lots of food & drink options plus ice cream! They even sell beer & wine! If you have kids, I highly recommend the kids pack deal for $6.75 which comes with a big bag of Welch's fruit snacks, popcorn & a drink which for .50 more you can upgrade to an icee. It was nice to go to a movie theatre that's not overly priced & the way it was when I was a kid.
Great small independent theater, real butter on the popcorn, local ice cream offered, beer while you watch, and affordable ticket pricing. What more could you want?!
Excellent prices on tickets for showings and the movies start very quickly (within a couple minutes) of the showing time as opposed to having to wait 15+min of advertisements. The chairs are comfortable and decor is very homey
Great classic movie theater. Picture quality great in all theaters, audio quality could be a bit better. But the price is very competitive, they serve beer, and if you have an Arlington Community card you can get popcorn for free.
A reasonable priced beautiful old fashion theater. Work a large screen. And ice cream! You don't get better than that. My only complaint is that it is like it's peers and the volume is way way too loud. Why do they do that?
Very comfy seats, cheap ticket price but the screen quality could be better (no complaints though), friendly staff, clean and easily accessible restroom. Overall, it's good
FUN, I go with my youngest & family who live down the street for fun movies. Went to Otto's for pizza after or somewhere nearby. Several theaters, for different showings etc. Cute spot.
Quanit local theater showing blockbusters along with offshoot nights and throwback events. Quick ticket purchases and never a line. More like going to see a movie in a giant fancy living room then a contemporary theater.
Nice old time theater.
Nice and clean historic cinema. Unlike others they also serve craft beers!
Nice place and well kept, with a bit of older cinema charm. Adjoining Capitol creamery for ice creams and soft drinks, usual pop corn and stuff and a selection of decent beers on draft and in can. On a Friday night it was totally empty.
Wonderful cinema great prices beer and wine can be taken in and good films.
Classic old cinema. Seating is a little tight, but comfortable. This gem is loved by the community.
The Capitol Theatre is an old favorite. The tickets and snacks are sold at good prices. The staff here is friendly and helpful. This theatre is a great, easy stop for a family on a rainy day!
Awesome local theater with lots of community support and good concessions including an ice cream shop in the theater. Really like this place and has cheap$7 matinee ticket prices to boot.
Great movies, great prices, acceptable popcorn. The actual theaters are very nice and quite comfortable.
A nice break from going to huge chain theaters, the Capitol has very good looking interiors, good prices, and ice cream and beer available in the theater!
Awesome atmosphere and quite inexpensive. It's in a cool part of the town too.
This is a great Theatre. I recommend that you visit.
One of the only theaters that still offers that shakey popcorn powder for free!! I’d go just for that, but I also love their seasonal events and affordable matinees. Look for fun throwback horror features around Halloween! There’s also an ice cream shop inside the theater if regular theater fare isn’t enough for you. Be warned: their largest theater room can be cold in the winter and hot in the summer. Dress accordingly.
Baby matinee. Very comfortable to see so many people with babies that no one was disturbed in movie. Perfect for new and growing families. Toddler was more challenging.
Great movie theater
The best neighborhood movie theatre
This movie theater is small but it is old fashioned. I really like how they kept the old style of movies and just made it cleaner as time went on.
First run movies for less than anywhere else. In a lovely old theater so its got a great atmosphere.
Great venue. Has live bands, lectures etc
This is an authentic local gem in every respect--the staff are incredibly welcoming, the beverages --wine, beer, coffees high quality along with a variety of delicious snacks. The movies are a fine mix of foreign, small and large productions in cozy theatres. However a big limitation is that there is only stairway access to the 2 theatres upstairs so inaccessible to those with physical limitations.
We, my family that is, absolutely love this theater. Always a pleasant, joyful, community experience. We frequent the Capitol, have had a few of our kids' birthday parties there, and highly recommend it all. Everything offerred in their ice cream shop is delicious as well.
An old style movie theater that serves beer and can host kids' birthday parties. Now that's what I call family friendly.
Excellent, popcorn and beer sounds so good. Better than coke.
Classic restored movie theater. Has a good selection of beer/wine and snacks, ice cream parlor attached, discount matinees, and the staff is friendly. It's one of Arlington's gems.
Fun, old school movie palace! Affordable!
Good time, great staff, land mark theatre!
Good theater, GREAT concession prices
Our go to local movie theater for major mainstream movies.
Very well organized even for a sold-out show. Be aware though there is no parking lot. The gradient in the seating arrangement is not very steep so that someone tall might pose a problem if they sit in front of you. Bathroom could be a tad updated.
It has movies
Great value but limited parking

I went to see starwars the last Jedi. I got a large popcorn, soda, and a box of milk duds. I step into the room showing the last Jedi in 3D and what do I see? An empty room. It's only me and my family. I have never been here and seen an empty room, so I take my time choosing seats. Everyone gets their pick. Then the movie starts, its probably one of the best cinematic experiences I've ever had. I've been here many times and I would recommend it. The staff is nice and the seats are roomy, what else is there to say?
Great classic movie theater. Picture quality great in all theaters, audio quality could be a bit better. But the price is very competitive, they serve beer, and if you have an Arlington Community card you can get popcorn for free.

It's gonna be a no from me.
Great seating !!!
Went to the matinee 1/5/2019 to see Mary poppins returns. It wasn't busy. The seats were comfortable. We didn't order any snacks.

Very nice movie theater.

The manager is wicked nice. Very clean ,we'll take care of . comfortable seating .

Great movies, great prices, acceptable popcorn. The actual theaters are very nice and quite comfortable.
Solid theatre, staff was friendly.
Great theater nostalgic looks awesome comfy seats
Small venue. Only accepts cash.
Been going here forever. Since they got their new seating it's been amazing. Only thing I would say isn't great is the popcorn. Needs more butter
A nice break from going to huge chain theaters, the Capitol has very good looking interiors, good prices, and ice cream and beer available in the theater!
Love this place...Best movie popcorn out there...
Seating is amazing now! Great place to see new releases! Big 2 thumbs-up!
Awesome atmosphere and quite inexpensive. It's in a cool part of the town too.
I go to this movie theater all the time. It is a great place to hang out with friends and family.
The Capitol is a great local theater. Movie prices are not bad and food is relatively cheap. They also use real butter on their popcorn!
This is a great Theatre. I recommend that you visit.

Not nearly the greatest cinematic theatres around, but it's the only current films shown in the Barre-Montpelier area.
Baby matinee. Very comfortable to see so many people with babies that no one was disturbed in movie. Perfect for new and growing families. Toddler was more challenging.
Wonder was a great movie.
Great people, great Sound and Vision, comfortable seats.
Over priced for the lack of friendliness and options for snacks and drinks.
Great movie theater
The best neighborhood movie theatre
This movie theater is small but it is old fashioned. I really like how they kept the old style of movies and just made it cleaner as time went on.
Great place to see a movie. No commercials and no overcrowded theater rooms.

Nice movie theater. Three of the screens are decent-sized (but not like the big ones with stadium seating in big cities), two are small. Clean, comfortable seats, good sound. Friendly staff, good popcorn. I am happy going here unless I have another reason to drive 45 minutes north in which case I'll go for the giant screens there.
We, my family that is, absolutely love this theater. Always a pleasant, joyful, community experience. We frequent the Capitol, have had a few of our kids' birthday parties there, and highly recommend it all. Everything offerred in their ice cream shop is delicious as well.
Great ssrvice.
An old style movie theater that serves beer and can host kids' birthday parties. Now that's what I call family friendly.
I go there all the time and with my friends www watch a great movie from our best characters.
Very comfortable. Nice inside.
Excellent, popcorn and beer sounds so good. Better than coke.
Classic restored movie theater. Has a good selection of beer/wine and snacks, ice cream parlor attached, discount matinees, and the staff is friendly. It's one of Arlington's gems.
To the Theater Management! The potential for vandalism of cars in Barre - especially late at night - make it an uncomfortable risk to go there for an evening movie, particularly a 9PM showing but they also have some of the best action movies and family movies that come out. Most recently, they have Riddick which ends Thurs but doesn't appear to be coming to the Capitol. Please consider showing these movies at the Capitol for at least one week before letting them move on to other towns. Even a few days would allow Montpelier residents a chance to see these movies.
Fun, old school movie palace! Affordable!
Good time, great staff, land mark theatre!
Okay theatre expensive tix no recliners just typical fold up theatre seats
I love this little suburban theatre. They've preserved a classic building. Picture and audio are great. Seats are comfy. Popcorn is the best, with real butter. Great beer on draft and bottled - had an awesome chocolate stout. They show a lot of the interesting indie and art films that come up. Haven't tried the ice cream yet. Also down the street from an amazing vegan restaurant (Zhu's).
This is my favorite theater in the area. The tickets are relatively inexpensive, and the popcorn and snacks are not too overpriced. The theater has more family movies than the somerville theater, which is great for my family, and we all love the ice cream .
Wonderful old theater that has been carved up to have several screens. Reasonably priced. Beer & will e available if over 21. Fresh popcorn with REAL butter.
Movies with minimal commercials. Theatre at reasonable prices. Popcorn and whatnot if you wish. No complaints so far.
I have been going to the capital theater as long as I can remember, and this place just keeps getting better. Great staff, cheapest tickets prices around, clean bathrooms, an ice cream parlor, and I can get a beer...What! This place is awesome.
We watched a wrinkle in time and I had so much fun
Intimate setting with great service!
$8 movie theater, can't complain. It reminds me of the Orphium in Boston but with a screen. Watched Endgame on the 2nd weekend and it wasn't even sold out.
Fantastic no-frills-sit-back-n-enjoy-the-flick local cinema! Somerville Theaters' sister theater. Updated but has still kept it's charm. Affordable tickets considering current pricing at the chains (HOLY COW!). As of this review they even accept MoviePass. Staff has always been friendly/patient/understanding. Theaters themselves are in good shape, clean and comfortable. Very child friendly, especially popular for birthdays/events. You can rent a theater and bring your own food. Even have their own ice cream shop next to the concession stand. Not home made ice cream but sourced from Richardson's. Not my fav but good and that's a whole other review ;-) Would recommend Little Q Hot Pot (Couple of doors down) for pre, post movie food. Also, Otto pizza (Directly next door) if you want something quick.
Great old movie theatre. Maybe 6-7 screens. Does not always get the new movies maybe week or two after they premier. Seating is not assigned so you can actually buy tickets on a whim. Ice cream parlor in lobby great Ice cream. They serve beee at concessions! Try ottos pizza next door before the show.
What a cool place! Very fun theater with an ice cream bar! Seats are comfortable and everything is clean and updated. Cozy and awesome.
In a convenient location and shows all the latest movies. Great theater!
You cannot beat the prices! Good selection of movies. Clean auditorium with comfortable seats. An older theatre, but again: the price makes it irrelevant. Clean bathrooms. Very happy with my first time experience.
A small treasure theater with the latest best movies and film festivals!
Great movie theater with an old school feel. Awesome popcorn and Richardson's ice cream. Love to take the kids there. Lots of family friendly movies.
Great theater. Crowded seats though
Beautiful old fashioned theatre. Seats are quite tight though!
Just saw the inredibles at the Capitol theatre. It's a really beautiful place, with good cheap food
I like old fashioned movie seats... and deciding to go to a movie without planning a day or two in advance because there are only a few loungers in the place. Good old-fashioned movie experience. Oh yeah, with craft beer!
we hosted a private party here and it was GREAT! the staff are all so friendly and we always have a great time.
Funky old fashioned movie theater.
Good prices for good movies. Seats are well elevated over row in front, at least in some rooms, which is good for children (& shorter adults). Lobby connects to ice cream shop, which is unusual.
There is just something about viewing a movie in a small movie theater that helps with the experience. Thoroughly enjoyed Beautiful Boy. The material hits close to home.
Wonderful community theater. Really pleasant experience. Top it off with great Richardson's ice cream!
Small theatre, which is nice and well maintained. Prices were reasonable - we went to a matinee. Food prices see decent as well
Nice small theater. Good prices, especially for early movies.
The screens and sound are first rate. The popcorn is fresh, and the staff is nice
Wonderful selection of movies, at an affordable price (especially the matinees). Offers a fine variety of snacks (mostly candy) and drinks. Plus the Capitol Creamery, attached to the movie theater, is arguably the best ice cream place in town. Does have smaller, less fancy seats and amenities than other theaters, but is very charming, loveable, and the best local option. A gorgeous historical building, with beautiful ornamental details in many of the theaters. Also a great place for birthday parties. A go-to place to meet up with friends or see the newest blockbuster.
Excellent movie theater. Clean, well run, great movies and great concession stand.
Small place but prices are good
Went for a baby maitnee on Monday at noon, we had a great time
Great theater for movies. Not overpriced like the name brand theaters.
Good local theater. Seats are crowded and have small arm rests. No recliners, floor has sticky spots. Seats are unassigned. Sound is good, video is good. Seating varies massive between the theaters.
Great theater, especially the original cinema #1
Good neighborhood theater; especially appropriate for kids' birthday parties. Friendly staff and good projection equipment.
Have been going here for thirty years. Inexpensive tickets and great ice cream and beer
Small, historic, family-friendly theater. Good for weekend kid movies.
One of the best theatres in the area. The sister theatre to Somerville Theatre, and between the two you can find most current movies. Tickets are a great price and you can get a beer to enjoy the show.
Cheap, friendly, clean. All the things i look for in a movie theater. Great ice cream too!
The theater is a blast from the past... Old nostalgic look... excellent prices
Such a cool, historic little indie movie house. I love when things from days gone by survive to remind us what we're missing.
Adorable old school theatre, well maintained, with EIGHT beers on tap, plus decent wine, the usual movie snacks, and an attached ice cream parlour. Shows indie and big budget movies. Very family friendly.
This local, independent theatre is one of the best! It doesn't offer the newest technology. Instead it specializes in showing good movies at great prices. It also serves beer and wine. And offers weekly mom and baby screenings for new parents who need to get out of the house!
Seats arent as nice as modern theaters of course
Old theatre. What it lacks in amenities it makes up for in character. They have a good beer selection and they make their own popcorn!!Also, they have Richardson’s ice cream. Parking can be a little tricky, there is no lot. If you want to remember what it was like to go to the movies in the mid 90’s I recommend the capital. The Capital has a friendly staff and I personally prefer it to the big stadium seating of the new movie theaters.
The only theatre I have seen with an ice cream shop a different spin on drink choices, plus the foods choices and prices are nice. It is quaint and so like it.
Okay theatre expensive tix no recliners just typical fold up theatre seats
The seats are not very comfy
Nice theatre!
Good place to watch a mainstream movie in Montpelier. I wish they had the popcorn and b drinks that the Savoy has though!
It's not the fanciest theater out there, but it's solid. It's clean, they serve all the snacks that you could want, and they have a good selection of movies playing. It's the perfect local theater.
Great seats awesome sound quality digital
A perfectly nice small town theater
Great old movie theatre. Maybe 6-7 screens. Does not always get the new movies maybe week or two after they premier. Seating is not assigned so you can actually buy tickets on a whim. Ice cream parlor in lobby great Ice cream. They serve beee at concessions! Try ottos pizza next door before the show.
Very nice staff and s great to older style theater. Very comfortable seats.
Great small theatre with real Cabot butter for your popcorn. Current released movies.
Great little community theater. First run movies at reasonable prices. Theater acoustics and seating are nothing special but pass the test.
An overall TERRIBLE experience the service was quite bad. I was forced to empty my POCKETS to for them to see that I didn't bring any CANDY in with ME. The popcorn was "buttered" with some weird WHITE substance. But it smelled GOOD. Still quite wierd and beyond that the movie was in Afrikaans WITH NO subtitles. A very awful experience. WOULD not repeat.
What a cool place! Very fun theater with an ice cream bar! Seats are comfortable and everything is clean and updated. Cozy and awesome.
New and modern seating! Very comfortable!
Nice small theater. Recently replaced all the seats which are now larger, vinyl not fabric, and recline slightly. I wish they had open both bending stations as 30 people waiting for popcorn at one counter, right in the way of the entrance isn't ideal. Great picture quality and sound.
Everyone so nice had a blast
Great old place...
Nice seats
A nice movie theater to watch the current blockbusters! Although this theater is smaller than many of the theaters you would find in Chittenden County- Capitol Showplace has all the movie going charm of years past. From the neon marquee out front to the traditional box office and concession stand to the real butter on the popcorn- Capitol Showplaces is a nice theater to catch the latest films.
Good place to meet up with friends for a movie night out, even has late showings if you like those showings and has great deals like the 11.00 meal deal that includes a large popcorn with 2 sodas with free refills
Great movie theater with an old school feel. Awesome popcorn and Richardson's ice cream. Love to take the kids there. Lots of family friendly movies.
Great theater. Crowded seats though
Clean and fun!
Beautiful old fashioned theatre. Seats are quite tight though!
Needs updating badly
Just saw the inredibles at the Capitol theatre. It's a really beautiful place, with good cheap food
Great staff
we hosted a private party here and it was GREAT! the staff are all so friendly and we always have a great time.

Wonderful community theater. Really pleasant experience. Top it off with great Richardson's ice cream!
Great movie, same atmosphere as it has had for years.
Spent $4.50 for popcorn that was clearly from the day before. I should have known, it was already bagged up and I was the first one through the door. At that price it should be still warm. I mentioned it to the manager and he tried to tell me it is made fresh every show,,, not that I expected the truth. Everyone charges more and offers less these days.
Small theatre, which is nice and well maintained. Prices were reasonable - we went to a matinee. Food prices see decent as well
Great little movie theatre! And they have REAL BUTTER!! popcorn is always better with real popcorn
Nice small theater. Good prices, especially for early movies.

We had a great experience with our students with special needs
Everyone is very nice there. Plus they don't judge if you come out crying!
Excellent movie theater. Clean, well run, great movies and great concession stand.
Small place but prices are good
Went for a baby maitnee on Monday at noon, we had a great time
Fun theater, good comfy seats. Nice polite staff.
Good place to go and see a movie
Clean, quality theatre. They support local business also.
Great theater for movies. Not overpriced like the name brand theaters.
Fun
Good local theater. Seats are crowded and have small arm rests. No recliners, floor has sticky spots. Seats are unassigned. Sound is good, video is good. Seating varies massive between the theaters.
Great theater, especially the original cinema #1
Clean and comfortable
Historic movie theater with real butter on their popcorn. Screens are smallish to accomodate more of them.
Good neighborhood theater; especially appropriate for kids' birthday parties. Friendly staff and good projection equipment.
Quaint little movie theater. Saw Jurassic World 2, and had some popcorn. 2 smalls, 1 candy and 1 water was $18. Good quality, no complaints. Friendly staff
Great Movie
A fine theater with mostly reasonable prices, but the seats are a bit close together and sound can leak from one theater to the other.
Great seats and reasonable prices
I love going here to watch anything in theaters. Great customer service, friendly and polite, and a good choice of snacks and drinks in my opinion.
Have been going here for thirty years. Inexpensive tickets and great ice cream and beer
Didn't know that there was such a nice movie theater close by.
We love this theater. It usually has quite a few different movies to choose from which is nice. It's priced liked most theaters, expensive but totally worth it. I have seen some of my favorite movies here. If you arrive about 10 minutes early you'll most likely not get stuck in line if there's a line.. which is a given so no complaints there. They have Green Mountain coffee and I love that as no outside food or drinks so it's nice to be able to order coffee I like. Another huge thing I prefer that this theater has over one that is much closer is an ice machine. Fountain soda was made to be dispensed over 2/3 cup of ice and a different theater doesn't have ice and just puts soda in the cup. Its actually pretty nasty so I would come here over the one I'm closer to just because of the ice lol. Also the employees are always friendly and super helpful.
Such a cool, historic little indie movie house. I love when things from days gone by survive to remind us what we're missing.
Came 15 minutes early and was bombarded with 20 loud tv commercials. Other than that good theatre
Nice clean theater, good seating and screens. The staff isn't particularly friendly, "just pay and leave" is the feeling I get from the cashier. Still, not a bad theater...
Was a great experience and are always up to date with the movies. Definitely going back, just still wish they would use the outside ticket booths :(
Old theatre. The only theatre I have seen with an ice cream shop a different spin on drink choices, plus the foods choices and prices are nice. It is quaint and so like it.
Always a great place to catch a movie with the family.
Good first run movie selection, nice decor, decent snacks, seating comfortable
Good value theater. Not HD or crazy good sound so I wouldn't go for an action flick, but something with lots of dialogue it's a steal.
Love the old time movie vibe. An antidote to the commercialized and overpriced experience found in most theaters. Plenty to eat and drink too!
nice old theater. a hair cheaper than multiplezes. almost first run movies. ice cream place attached. right in the neighborhood. what's not to love?
Our favorite first-run theater! Great little movie house with old school architecture, excellent popcorn + beer and wine, and friendly staff. And the ticket prices can't be beat. Plus, there's a good pizza place next door to grab a slice before the show.
Ice cream, beer and wine, popcorn, nachos... plus independently (locally) owned and operated with good movie selection
Booked a theater. Amazing experience.
Independent neighborhood cinema, with concessions including beer and wine (and good ice cream). My favorite place to see Star Wars movies these days, lots of fun themed decorations.
Just recently saw Teen Titans Go to the Movies here. It was great on their little screen. There isn't a ton leg room in the theater and the seats don't recline, so you have that old school vibe. The concessions were reasonably priced compared to the big theater chains. You can also get matinee pricing up until 6pm which is a plus.
Nice local theater. Good popcorn and ice cream. Good price
I love this theater, old fashioned hmmmm I wished every town had one. No huge lines and prices are good. Love that I'm able to walk to a movie by my self and enjoy a movie and a slice of pizza from next door ♡
Love this local theater. Great popcorn too
Nice movie theater
You can rent a private theater for birthdays; such a good time. Great beer selection!
An excellent choice for any one looking to do it to em. 5 stars
Awesome old time theater..best popcorn ever..no parking so take enough time to find a space
best place to see movies. great prices, and great snacks.
It's delightful. You should go. Don't go expecting giant screens, luxury recliners, and assigned seating. Go because it's local. Go because real butter on your popcorn. Go because it's actually cute and it's what movie going should be like. I walk 3 miles to this theater instead of to the closer AMC in Assembly Row because it's my favorite. Heart Emoji.
Love the Capitol!
Great little movie theater where prices are reasonable.
My local cheap and great staff
Great place, showing great art.
My family and l loved to go that movie theater
Great local small film joint. I would say they generally cater to the older crowd + kids (I feel the film selection is more high brow + children movies). The concession stand is reasonably priced, and they have great popcorn (they have free popcorn flavor shakers). Also an ice cream place attached to it, but I don't have much experience with it.
Great selection of movies that old home feeling and wonderful ice cream! Able to rent a private showing of a movie for a party, very cool!
Great movie theater. Historical but up to date projection. Restored beautifully and comfortable. Sound very good. They show Indie and 1st run movies. Great neighborhood theater.
The last of the great indie theaters here. And real butter on the popcorn!
A very enjoyable neighborhood theater with the added bonus of an ice cream parlor on premises. Our favorite non-IMAX joint to watch movies.
Like it a lot , because it's an old time historic theater. Must have been ENORMOUS, but now has cut it into several mid sized theaters. Not ideal, but still better than those damn suburban multi Plex theaters.
This is one of my favorite places. Best popcorn anywhere and TBT movies. Who could ask for more!
Love this theater. Nicely renovated comfortable seating old style good pipcorn. Tickets less than Boston and Cambridge. Parking not that easy but ok.
Nice old fashion movie theater. Clean and pretty. No need to book online. Just go and enjoy your movie
One of my favorite places to see any movie. The crowds are young and enthusiastic, you can buy beer and ice cream, and it's part of the community.
We'll kept local theater with comfortable NON-RECLINING seats. I find the reclining seats in the chain theaters very uncomfortable if you want to sit upright. Much better pricing than the chain theaters too.
Some manager got mad at me for charging my phone in the hallway before the movie, i got kicked out
Great time for a family outing! They have a great little ice cream parlor.
Upset at having being yelled at and refused to be served because I made a comment about finding stupid the continued request for an ID when I am 56 years old. This was my favorite place to see movies.
Love this place
This movie theater has a lot going for it, which helps it to stand out. With creamery inside the theater, beer on tap for the adults, and reasonable ticket prices make this a very good movie theater. Coupled with a beautiful classic construction makes it lovely. Some might not appreciate the classic movie seats or the lack or ultra modern construction. For date night 9/10.. for the hyper serious movie goer 6/10.
Always a great place to catch a movie with the family.
Good first run movie selection, nice decor, decent snacks, seating comfortable
Great place to go and watch a movie get drinks and snacks. If u are visiting or living in Montpelier.
Good value theater. Not HD or crazy good sound so I wouldn't go for an action flick, but something with lots of dialogue it's a steal.
Love the old time movie vibe. An antidote to the commercialized and overpriced experience found in most theaters. Plenty to eat and drink too!
The Theatre was nice and clean the service was good the prices were even good!! The movie however was kinda a bust... It was our first 3D movie and that part was cool, but we disliked the movie itself. My daughter kept asking when it was time to leave, I felt bad having her finish the last 25 mins out!!
Good and cheap movies and has good food and generally is not very busy so it is pretty comfortable
Is a great small town theatre!
Very nice employees, clean theater and restrooms,! Always great popcorn. Good selection of movies in a small town venue.
nice old theater. a hair cheaper than multiplezes. almost first run movies. ice cream place attached. right in the neighborhood. what's not to love?
Movie theater was good didn't try the food. Just had the movie. Seats was good will go here again to watch a movie
The theatre we were in was dirty and the sound was way too loud. I mean louder than a theatre usually is.
It's a good old school movie theater. Friendly staff, not usually super busy.
Booked a theater. Amazing experience.
You need to accept debit cards at places like this.
Cool seating arrangements is different theaters. Cool small town movie experience
Independent neighborhood cinema, with concessions including beer and wine (and good ice cream). My favorite place to see Star Wars movies these days, lots of fun themed decorations.
Great place except that they don't accept cards only cash
Just recently saw Teen Titans Go to the Movies here. It was great on their little screen. There isn't a ton leg room in the theater and the seats don't recline, so you have that old school vibe. Nice local theater. Good popcorn and ice cream. Good price
Family friendly
Old style hometown theatre.
Very Nike
I love this theater, old fashioned hmmmm I wished every town had one. No huge lines and prices are good. Love that I'm able to walk to a movie by my self and enjoy a movie and a slice of pizza from next door ♡
Love this local theater. Great popcorn too
Nice movie theater

An excellent choice for any one looking to do it to em. 5 stars
Everything was fine except for the fact that they do not allow you to take your own water bottle into the theater, even if you empty it and fill it up inside. This normally wouldn't be a big deal (albeit annoying and wasteful, because it requires you to use a disposable cup) but the friend I was with is pregnant and has extreme morning sickness. She has recently discovered that by drinking ice water pretty frequently she feels well enough to be out and about, so she carries it with her at all times. The older male employee we spoke to was extremely curt and was unwilling to compromise, first giving her a small disposable cup which would have required her to get up to refill it every fifteen minutes or so. Finally he offered her a medium soda cup, and when she asked if she could possibly have a large he replied that he was being extremely generous in giving her the medium and that she would have to pay the full soda price for the large. This policy is wasteful and this employee was unwilling to accommodate someone with a physical condition that requires her to have a lot of water on her at all times. It honestly made no sense and was extremely disappointing. We moved to Montpelier last year and were excited to finally visit this theater. Unfortunately we will not be returning.
Awesome old time theater..best popcorn ever..no parking so take enough time to find a space
best place to see movies. great prices, and great snacks.
Theaters good. Movies are good. Concessions are good. Most of the high schoolers working behind the counter suck. The girl working tonight is great! But the guys.....terrible. won't look at you, they give you one word answers and talk so quiet you have to ask them to repeat themselves three times just to hear them. Get some good staff with some good customer service.

I went to see a late show on a Saturday night, 11/22/14, and the place was a disaster. Popcorn, napkins, cups, and all kinds of trash littered the seats and floor. It was pretty clear the sloppy staff didn't care as they flipped through there phones. But I don't really blame the staff, it's pretty hard to respect the place you work for when you have to wear ridiculous uniforms and sell over priced junk food. I don't think I'll go back there anytime soon.
Good movie theater, they usually have a lot of choices.
Great, classic, small town movie theater. Very clean, nice reclining seats, good sound and regular movie snacks.
Just bad... popcorn tasted awful. The movie was in black and white. The expiration date on the candy I got said it was expired. The 3D glasses were flimsy and broke instantly. Go to Burlington or somewhere else instead.
Great little movie theater where prices are reasonable.
My local cheap and great staff
Recent renovations have led to comfier seats and larger screens, it's fun to visit on off nights because you can often get a theater to yourself.
One of the four theaters is on a slant and awkward to sit in for the length of the movie, not much they can do about that I guess. Normally they put the least active movie in that one, so just see the main ones. Yummy popcorn and rarely a wait in the ticket line. Pretty much what you expect for a small town theater! Would give 5 start for using a CC, also I would spend so much more in concessions if they accepted credit cards.
The capital movie theater is great its near by they have the best box office movies I always enjoy it.
Great place, showing great art.
My family and l loved to go that movie theater
I find the theater more than adequate and enjoy the small town atmosphere I know one reviewer said her daughter got lice there but I have been here for 25 years and have never heard of such a thing. I go with some regularity and can recommend it without qualification. They also have headphones for the hearing impaired.
Seats are slightly uncomfortable, but it is so nice to have a clean friendly theater so close to home... Just remember cash, as they do not take credit, or debit cards
I was a long time customer of this theatre, coming back to my hometown and the establishment many times. I am absolutely floored by the manager’s lack of hospitality and downright nasty behavior. As a tourist I would have expected to be treated much more respectfully. After accidentally parking in the wrong spot, and having him lie to an officer of the law about “speaking to us, I will never be attending the theatre ever as long as he is managing it. No apology was given, all he did was keep denying he lied, and tried to tell me that “calling out the door” (when we obviously did not hear anything) was the same as “I spoke with the two people who got out of that car”. Absolutely ridiculous behavior for anyone with a job that caters to the public. Being half his age, I would have done much more to be a polite and kind human being, seeing two tourists who were unaware of the parking lines HIDING UNDER THE SNOW.
Erika is so awesome! All the staff, friendly and helpful. Loved it!!
Great movie theater. Historical but up to date projection. Restored beautifully and comfortable. Sound very good. They show Indie and 1st run movies. Great neighborhood theater.
The last of the great indie theaters here. And real butter on the popcorn!
Great small City movie theater.
We are fortunate to have such a nice little theater in Eagle. It may not get all the movies, but generally has the best ones out at the time.
Nice old fashion movie theater. Clean and pretty. No need to book online. Just go and enjoy your movie
The staff is so nice! This theater is always clean. I love movies here and won't go to their other location... its not nearly as comfortable.
One of my favorite places to see any movie. The crowds are young and enthusiastic, you can buy beer and ice cream, and it's part of the community.
Inexpensive compared to Denver theaters.
We'll kept local theater with comfortable NON-RECLINING seats. I find the reclining seats in the chain theaters very uncomfortable if you want to sit upright. Much better pricing than the chain theaters too.
Some manager got mad at me for charging my phone in the hallway before the movie, i got kicked out
Comfortable seats, friendly staff. I didn't try the concessions.
Great staff, clean theaters and restrooms. Always an enjoyable time.
Great time for a family outing! They have a great little ice cream parlor.
Nice little local movie theater, buy your tickets online before coming in for a Friday or Saturday night show to avoid the line.
Popcorn was gross. Guy collecting tickets was unwelcoming.
Upset at having being yelled at and refused to be served because I made a comment about finding stupid the continued request for an ID when I am 56 years old. This was my favorite place to see movies.
Love this place
This movie theater may not be "the fanciest movie theater on earth" but has nice staff and a cheap snack bar. A kid's pack is only $3.00 there when at other places it can be $15.00 to $20.00 for just a kid's pack. It's a good sized movie theater and the seats give you just enough room for you to sit in. There are no free drink refills which I need at every movie theater I go to for it to be 5 stars. But other then that it's your average movie theater.
Love the promo free tickets they give out to teachers and students. Theatre is convenient and clean.
Best theater in Eagle.
Great theater, just wish they would get with the times and take cards.
