Great outdoor garden, food is so so, but everyone in my party was really pleased. Service was terrific. Cappuccino sucked.
It was easy to find parking. The theater is air conditioned and we were comfortable. The show was great and something that isn't available at other theaters in the area.
It's a nice one school theater with good prices. The audio quality could be better of course. It's really unique with some of the film's it shows and special events they have. It's cool sometimes they will reshow movie from the year before like get out. An overall quality place to catch a movie.
Nice old theater
Great old 50's cinema and funky restaurant with many eclectic choices.
I couldn’t wait to take my 94 year old mother to the movies this morning. I ordered tickets online so we wouldn’t have to wait. She doesn’t get out often so it was a treat for her. Although the parking was horrible and she had to walk or rather hobble into the theatre, I had to look for an attendant to use the lift because there weren’t hand rails to help the disabled could walk up stairs. When I finally located an attendant to assist up, she looked puzzled and replied that a key was needed. She explained to me that they didn’t have a key and called 2days ago but no one had come yet! Please Tower Theatre management, a simple sign that would alert the elderly or disabled persons not to come when your lift is down, is an obligation you owe.
Great movie house showing only Classic Movies. Plus there is a small Cafe
Love this gorgeous theater built in 1938. It doesn't have reclining seats or folks who serve you dinner while you watch the movie but she is Grand in an old fashioned way. The folks who work there are very kind and helpful, too.
Great atmosphere
Great downtown theatre to watch something other than a Marvel movie
Loved it, I had a glass of wine while waiting for our seating time, went to see (Everybody knows) which I enjoyed very much I'm a huge fan of Penelope Cruz"
Great place full of Sacramento history and charm. Awesome ( and sometimes under-appreciated) films shown here. Must visit of Sacramento!
We got to sit in theater 1. Beautiful indeed. They cut it down years ago but theater 1 is still as big as it was. Great ambiance
Beautiful theatre on the outside. The inside is still kind of old but it's nice. The seats can be comfortable if you sit right, but there are many seats that give you a good view. I really like how they play old movies or anime movies. Parking may be a little difficult if they're busy.
As soon as you walk in the Tower Theatre, you step into a different time. It feels as though little has changed here since the 50s, giving the place an charming, slightly delapidated feel. You can enjoy a relax and enjoy a beer with your movie for a about the same price of a larger theatre. There is also a better selection of indi films and special events on their docket. This place is an experience. Highly recommend.
I love coming to this theatre. It's a cool piece of Sacramento history and I appreciate the student discount.
Always love to come to this wonderful theatre!
It's a great landmark for Sacramento. If you're looking to see the latest indie or art house film, Tower Theatre is the place to look!
Excellent movies.
Tara theater looks really nice it's nice to keep the old-fashioned seats but it needs to be cleaned up and renovated again
Nice old theater showing art house movies. Seats are uncomfortable.
We went to see The Beatles Yellow Submarine and it was great! The theater had two screens and the seats are pretty good for am old theater. It is a Sacramento landmark for sure.
quaint theatre. seats could be more comfortable. Good place to disconnect and enjoy a good film
Great movies. Love going there!
As if The Tower could get cooler? Did they fix that deathbed uneven floor in theatre 3? Nope, still gives me shivers. The place is art deco. And the subtle albiet inviting atmosphere. Two thumbs up for the new servers..ticket takers. They smile, look you in the eye, give opinions. It also had a full bar and an expanded menu items. The screens and rooms have sren a favelift BUT not that tired old rug.
Great theater if you're into older stlye and historical sacramento landmarks. They also serve beer
Amazing fun went and saw the old ma with a gun it was super fun very clean
Absolutely love this place for the history. Sadly, the current staff for the restaurant is filled with jerks who think they are serving Americans touring Paris France. Seriously, get over yourselves...I am here for the reflection of my own childhood, not the projection of your entitlement.
Old setup, but great place to watch films that aren't widely distributed, such as documentaries. This place is a Sacramento icon!
Good parking and great shows.
So my friend took me to the Tower Cafe, and let me tell you, this place is the real deal! We sat outside on the patio, and felt like we were dining amid the tree tops. The ambiance was lovely. The tables are pretty close together, and I was a little concerned that we might feel crowded. No need to worry, the feeling was intimate and cozy. The wait staff were friendly, and our wait time was short. The food was delicious, and the portions generous. The reasonable pricing rounded out the experience. I give Tower Restaurant an A+
First time being here. Outside looked small so I thought that the rooms will be small. Rooms are actually pretty big and is inclined.
The Tower Theatre is a classic! Going to a movie here feels extra special. It's well maintained and in the big room there is no bad seat. Great staff too!
Nice venue for off beat but good movie's.
Its a cool place but a little run down
Like this place....nice staff, oh and the
Tower shows a lot of art-sy movies. The ones not shown by the large theater chains. Art deco theater. Unfortunately, it is difficult to see the building because of the overgrowth of plantings for Tower Cafe. Interior has not been updated for a long time.
Beatiful historic landmark. Low ticket prices and friendly service. Also they now serve alcohol
Good. Movie was interesting.
I saw the Aretha concert film from 1972 and loved it. There are still plenty of Art Deco features and signage so that made it extra fun. The theater is behind a large garden area for Tower Cafe. Next time i will try it out and review it. :]
Terrific place sat in the large theater beautiful vaulted ceilings .Great architecture nice old retro theater w high back seats nice headrest very comfortable.
Tower theare is a grand art deco movie palace showing a wide range of moves There are two small side screens, and the main center theatre . The lobby is hung wh interesting hstorical photos and stories It's a Sacramento treasure. It was also the birthplace of Tower Records! Parking can be difficult, so arrive early , but the vibe can't be beat!
Love the movies that are shown. Very badly in need of refurbishing!
Great movies, pleasant staff, old school is the good school place. Oh they have beer and samosas too. I love this place and I need to come here more often. Tonight was a movie premiere and the place is quite awesome a venue for a premiere.
The Tower Theater is a bit older but they have discounted senior pricing ($7.50 tickets) & a decent craft beer selection!
I've been attending movies here for years...before it was divided into a multiplex. Still enjoyable.
Such a treat to watch a movie in such a beautiful theater.
Good movie about Supreme Court Justice member, touching, strong, measures up to the struggle for equality
This is a historic theater so it is a bit lacking in modern comforts but it's still a nice place to watch a movie. Comfort is a bit lacking as it is an older place and some of the smaller movie screens and seating areas are narrow. I like that they tend to show the smaller, less mainstream films and special events/screenings though.
I like the Tower Theatre in Sacramento. It was amazing. :)
Cool place. They could do a little, anf do so much kore, tho!
Old theater, only 4 screens. Popcorn was good, lots of beer and even some liquor. They seem to play indie films which is nice. Worth the drive up from Stockton. Only downside is the homeless people in the parking lot. I felt nervous about leaving my motorcycle out there. But all was good when I left. Would definitely go again
Very nice, older theatre in mid-town Sac. Staff is very nice and the discussion occasion movies they please are great. Certainly worth going to for the history and the surrounding area. The theatre itself could use some upgrades, but it is still very nice and the seating, while not a comfortable as some newer theatres, aren't bad.
I looking that's very nice. I love beers, wine and cold sodas. That's good food shacks. Freaking seats in the theater. Good sounds!! Next to tower cafe that's wonderful. I smell to smoke shop so very pretty.
It was classic. We had good popcorn and nice soft drinks. Nice big screen, beautifully old fashioned
Excellent parking, venue for and historical movie theater. The food and cocktails where amazing! Le6rs not forget why I choose this theater "Trust Love All The Way great "movie.
This vintage spot is always a fun outing. Great date spot
Sacramento's premier art house cinema showcasing the great movies you won't find in major theaters. Can't recommend enough.
Historically significant location which generally features independent, foreign, art house or other smaller types of pictures. This place is full of history. This theater has been here since I believe the 1930s or something? It is very old, in the classic sense of the word. This location has only 3 individual screens/theaters, but each is massive in its design. The ceilings are easily 60-100 feet high. I took off 1 possible star, due to the seats being who knows how old. I understand it is historic but updating the seats or even just the upholstery wouldn't go amiss. As it stands that is the worst feature as after even 30 or 40 minutes you can become severely uncomfortable and if the feature is 2 hours or more well maybe bring a sweater or pillow to avoid any additional pain. I believe the projectors are at least fairly modern and are generally bright and clear for such a large space. The sound, while not much more than mediocre, is usually adequate. There are minor snacks etc to choose from, the basic hot dog, nachos etc but also some surprisingly not all too bad chicken sandwich and a couple other choices for foods. They also have a beer/wine license so you can get a favorite libation with your film. Plenty of parking in an oversized lot outside although no shade or covered spots. Even still, it can get a little crowded especially before or after a big showing. Take your wife, girlfriend, boyfriend, kids (if they are well behaved at the movies of course) and go check it out. One of the rare glimpses into the past with several modern amenities of the future. If this review helped you out, please leave a like :)
Food and drinks are pricey, but this is a great old theater
This is a historic theater. Support your locally theater and watch an art house indie flick. We need places like this to survive and thrive to keep the identify of the city.
Great place for indie and older movies. Best popcorn in Sac.
Neat atmosphere and good food
Seats are super uncomfortable. Bathroom dirty and the popcorn tasted like it was the free stuff from home depot. :/
A Sacramento treasure! I love seeing movies here! Old School, classic layout. Staff is always kind, discounts are awesome (student & senior!), and now GREAT wine & beer options. Come early on busy days, the parking lot services several businesses, so it can get busy!
Wonderful nostalgic charm! It's from the late 1930's and shows small films and documentaries. Next to it is the famous Tower Cafe. Perfect couples night location. You can't beat the food or cinema experience (if you're into classic cinema)!! I felt my money was well-spent and will definitely be coming back for more.
For ten bucks it's decent. Mediocre sound quality and lackluster cleanliness most notably in the restroom but it's old fashioned charm partially makes up for that
This theater has great movie selection, the seats are comfortable but not like the bigger theaters. It’s in a good location too.
Old but a classic. If they updated the seating I'd give it a 5 star
Nostalgia to the fullest. If you are a fan of old theater aesthetics, then this is the place for you. The sound is clear with perfect views to the screen. One of my favorite places to go watch a movie
A great place for foreign films!
A fantastic, old school theater with a friendly staff. I have been going here since the nineties, and have enjoyed the indie and classic movies they show here. It is always a fond step into the past.
I saw Moonlight here a while back with a friend of mine, which was quite a moving experience. Beautiful old theatre with lots of character. Tends to show more artsy/independent/international films if that's your speed. It's nice to balance that against the typical Hollywood blockbuster schtick from time to time.
Both screens schedule great movies. Particularly, independent studio, and art-house films!
Tower is the best theater in town. It's classy old school style is my favorite thing about it. Real food, fair prices, great staff.
It is in the original glory, but can be cold in the big screen theater!? The concessions are great!
Reminds Me Of My Child Hood. I Started Going There 53 Year's Ago.
All the nostalgia of old theaters. One of my favorite places
Great nostalgic experience. Excellent staff. Excellent staff.
Great classic venue with nice gardens and stuff out front
The Tower is a unique city theater in the Land Park area where a post opera house era theater meets modern service. Crazy dash for parking; old theater and facilities but the screens are modern and so is the service. Offering beer, wine and traditional movie snack fare, The Tower is a fun place to view a show. Come early to get parking.
Everyone needs to come here at least once. It is exactly what you expect when you think of a vintage theater and we are lucky to have it here in Sacramento. They have a nice mix of popular and more obscure films. The snack bar has beer and wine and some pretty tasty food, the seats are squeaky but super soft and comfy. The parking can be formidable at certain times of day so allow a bit more time. It's worth it!
They have the best art house movies.
I didn't see any movies I just went to the cigar shop. The gentleman was very kind. So I went to tower theater right, and I got Assaulted by this r***** here. I'm just asking for a little bit of money please. Feel free to cash out me vendo me Any compensation that i deserve.
What a wonderful experience. This 1920s Art Deco theater was just a really fun date night for my husband and myself!! Thank you thank you for maintaining these wonderful Art Deco theaters
Great movie selections. Theater has always had an aged, charmless and neglected vibe. But management appears to be upgrading appearance. So much unrealized potential. Parking is convenient, but layout is haphazard.
Good Art Theater, with two great restaurants and bars.
Really enjoy seeing movies here!
Nice vintage theatre Classic Sacramento landmark everyone should check it out here the restaurant is pretty good too as well!
Did not go to Tower Theater rather Tower Cafe next door. Great little cafe with good coffee and chocolate cheesecake.
Great milieu, great movies. Plus you can have breakfast, lunch or dinner at the Cafe!
Interesting movies, comfort is not addressed..
Great old theater. Good selection of beers, wine, and cocktails. They play new movies along with the classics.
Thank God for the Tower. When all the other theaters are playing nothing but cartoons and super-heroes, the Tower is showing thought-provoking, well-crafted and acted films. Carry on Tower.
Not a bad place to see a movie. Parking is a little tight, you have to share with a couple other businesses, like Tower Cafe. I parked on South Land Park, in front of someone's house. One of the few streets, where there wasn't a no parking sign...
Really enjoyed the experience! Good wine with real glasses, pretty good decent small plates and snacks, and the traditional movie foods. Loved it!!!!!
Very uncomfortable seats, especially in comparison with what other threatres offer. Bathrooms are extremely dirty and disgusting. While this place offers interesting movies , I would rather wait for the movies to be available online instead of having back problems after sitting in these chairs.
Tower Theatre is a beautiful building with amazing service from ticket purchase to concessions. And speaking of concessions they have the best ever. The movies showing here never let me down, from independent to movies that are just less popular in the mainstream theaters. The ONE drawback is how steep the steps are in auditorium #1. But compared to all the other major pluses, this is something I can get over.
Outdoors eating in the summer the settings pure heaven, so lovely and the food is light, healthy and delicious oh the service is beyond excellent. I took my Mom, brother and daughter we all had clean plates (not Mom).
Good "classic" theater. Chairs are comfortable, but not the huge recliners in New theaters. Fun place to see a movie.
I love the independent films, popcorn, and the staff are friendly
This place is such a classic movie theater. My family loves to come here whenever there's a new Studio Ghibli movie playing there.
Great shows, great popcorn, great staff
Old and not the cleanest. Classic and kind atmosphere. Full bar and good snacks. Comfortable chairs.
Love the old theaters
I will never pre-pay at this theater again. Had to stand outside in the freezing rain just to get it scanned. I figured since it was paid I could skip the line but oh no, might as well just showed up. Then I could've just left without hassling for a refund and not getting one.
I love this old theater because of that
Very nicely maintained, old fashioned theatre.
