You will be able to see the opinions of real people like you who know the services and products of Landmark\'s Nickelodeon Theatre (Movie Theater) in the area close to the state of California.
Now this firm has a score of 4.7 stars over 5 and this rating has been based on 301 reviews.
As you can read, the average score it has is almost the best one, and it is based on a very high number of opinions, so we can think that the valuation is very accurate. If many people have bothered to leave their opinion when they've done well, is that it works.
As you know, we do not usually stop to write tatings when they are good and we usually do it only if we've had a problem or incidence...
This Movie Theater is classified in the category of Movie theater.
Saw the Shape of Water. Love this theater.
A cute little movie theater. The seats are comfortable and nicely space. The venue is clean and the sounds is good in the theater. The snack bar is small but has a good selection of food.
Great little theater playing indie films.
The Nick has always been a great movie house and always will be! It's looking better than ever too.
Great place to go to a movie
Amazing popcorn. Real butter great place to enjoy a Movie.
The best theater in Santa Cruz
Small art house with great indie films. Usually short runs so if they're playing something you want to see, don't wait!
Movie theater with 4 screens, mostly small intimate theater spaces. Predominantly art house and foreign films. This is our favorite theater in town, consistently the most worthwhile and provocative movies. And non-GMO popcorn with real butter and gourmet chocolate!
This place has been serving the community with quality cinema for years. Staff are friendly and lovely. I always check this place for showtimes first.
Pleasant and HELPFUL staff. Great tasting popcorn. Cozy feeling atmosphere. Shows only thoughtful movies all of the time. Some artsy movies also.
Cool little theater to see indie movies in
Never had a problem with any of those complaints, over 40+ years of enjoying the Nick - must have been that writer's bad hair day. Best and only place for the "alternative films", not to be shown anywhere else in the county.
Good old time movie theater experience
Best popcorn in town!
Great indie run theater with super friendly staff. Food and drinks are enjoyable. Love the art films.
If it weren't for The Nick & The Del Mar Santa Cruz County would never get a chance to see anything but the main stream's offering of flicks.
Cozy indie theater! Park in a lot near by so you don't have to worry about street parking.
I love this little tiny rinky-dink theatre. Somehow it's a fun, quaint place to see the latest indie movies.
Great personal service. What a local theater should be.
This theater shows the best movies in town. None of that big Hollywood stuff. if you want to see an awesome foreign film this is the place to go.
Always love the Nick. It's like an old friend
#charmingarttheater well embedded in the community.
Watch Tickling Giants on the big screen- and loved it. The theater always has great movies to choose from, albeit a bit more obscure, and is always worth it
Great movies
Great off-beat movies, great movie theater with several little individual theaters.
The Nick was a Santa Cruz landmark, long before it joined the Landmark Cinemas group. Their selections are fascinating, engaging, unique and provocative. The staff are enthusiastic cinephiles and the snacks are a cut above the usual fare. One of the best art houses cinemas anywhere.
Always love this theater. They and they del Mar have the best movies in town and the best popcorn with real butter and Brewer's yeast. Yum! I also find the staff extremely helpful and personable! I was very surprised to see that someone had a bad experience. In all the years I've been going to the Nick and the Del Mar, I've never had a bad experience with the staff. Now, a few customers have been rude. One guy laughed and slapped his knee and was generally so loud that the entire theater was turning around to see who was making all the noise! Sooooo, I will ask that theater goers try to be aware of their own bad behavior. Thanks!
Love this theater! Very cozy, quaint and filled with great staff who do their job efficiently. Great snacks and ticket prices. Parking is just across the street or right in front(if your lucky). This place only plays the current indie type movies. It's rare to find anything mainstream. Only con is the old style seating. I prefer the recliner seats. I'll put up with crappy seating for a great movie in this one of a kind theater that's the only one of it's kind left in Santa cruz.
Very cozy, conveniently near restaurants and shopping.
Quaint little place. Kind of refreshing compared to the larger chain theaters.
Love the Nickelodeon, impeccable staff personable and funny. Great thought-provoking movies.
Came here last week to watch the Shape of Water and it was a great experience. Awesome staff and fair priced tickets. I came on a holiday so I didn't know my student discount didn't work but it was still well priced. Everything was clean and the movie was great. The movie wasn't playing too loud or too quiet which I have an issue with a lot. I have yet to have an issue with too quiet, but no one else seemed to have that problem which is good. Only reason I'm not giving it 5 stars is because I'm someone who likes to sit in the back of theaters and it's such a small theater I had too look up too much to watch the movie. It wasn't too bad though and apparently every place in Santa Cruz is like that basically. I would come here again, but I'd come early to make sure I got a seat in the far back where the angle isn't so bad.
Great name for a quaint theatre in a cool part of the town; near shops, eatery’s and other points of interest. Comfy seats , good sound and vibe. And I’m checking in from the east bay. I’ll be back again.
Staff has always been very nice and their popcorn rocks!
Best theater in Santa Cruz.Intimate stting mature patrons
Great, small theater, with alternative titles.
Wow, a great theater experience. Love the independent movies and the neighborhood vibe of this smallish theater. I hope they continue with the retro decor and friendly staff. It's a different, and better experience compared to the large chain theaters, making the movie more memorable. Close enough to Pacific Ave to grab dinner at many restaurants after the show.
Get there early to get the best seat in these tiny theaters.
Intimate, classic movie theater showing the best independent films. Delicious snack slectipn, offering tea, coffee, soda, burritos, brownies, classic candies and alternative options. It has 3 or 4 screens, only one room being distinctly smaller than the rest. Most reasonable ticket prices in town.

Beautiful cinema with a great selection of independent films

Indie movies, organic popcorn,awesome staff.
Last remaining art house movie theater in SC.
It was better before Landmark owned it. It's still a good theatre, and shows indie films. It just doesn't have the great local food, local feel, and solicit customers for movie suggestions that it did when it was locally owned.
Full disclosure: I am in intern at the Nick. That being said, I love the Nickelodeon. They always have something interesting to watch and are very reasonably priced (good luck going to a multi-plex and getting $1.50 popcorn and $2 beers). The theater is old but very intimate. They are currently working on moving to a beautiful new theater down on Main street which looks like it will be amazing. I recommend checking out their website and seeing if any of the previews look interesting and giving it a try.
Small indie theater that has the best movies and nice, sophisticated audiences.
The Nick and Del Mar have the best movies and popcorn in town! And they have REAL butter for your popcorn!
Best theater in town
Cute local theatre, one of our favorites and 5 stars for film selections.
This is a great theater mainly because it offers more than the heavily promoted prime time movies and much more of the eclectic, lesser known productions and foreign films. The ticket prices are average and the concession munchies are predictably priced. I use Fandango or Rotten Tomatoes to research what is showing and decide based on selections. Good, reasonably priced parking near by (free after 8:00pm) and plenty of restaurants and eye candy to choose from before the show. Enjoy!!
The sister theatre to the Del Mar, and a nice, cozy little place to catch a movie. The movie selection is awesome, and the popcorn is delicious.
Real butter on the popcorn! Great movies "off the beaten path". Support local, independent businesses.
See a great movie here in a building with real character!
Helpful staff, clean restrooms.Recently updated seating. Theaters are small. Good snack offerings.
The Nickelodeon Theatre is an old school gem from a bygone era and has a really cool nostalgic vibe. Like the Del Mar around the corner, this theater is owned by Landmark Theaters. But between the two, The Nick is my favorite. For being such an old theater, they have done a good job upgrading the speaker and projection systems because the sound and picture quality or definitely up to par. Also, don't expect to see big budget movies from the major studios here. This theater mainly caters more towards independent and arthouse films, one of the main reasons why I love this theater. Also the main reason why I like this theater over the Del Mar is that the seats are much more comfortable. They're not amazing but are much better than the Del Mar.
Awesome movie theater!
Sweet movie theater, with thoughtfully chosen movies. Delicious organic popcorn with REAL butter and other local snacks! This location has been a favorite of mine for years!!!
My favorite spot for a movie
Great selection of indie films
Love this place, it's great to have a small independent movie theater that shows high quality stuff you can't find at the major theaters.
About the only "art house" theatre left. Great movies you won't see at the Regals and Cineluxes. We saw The Biggest Little Farm, and Maiden there, The Imitation Game, Beginners and several dozen other GREAT films over the years. Parking no …
Looks a little bit shubby from outside, but it is very nice inside. Cozy, friendly, very "warm". They play movies that already out in other theaters, so it is nice for people like me who something waiting for too long to see a movie :)
Loved the vintage style of the theater and lesser known film. Popcorn was good too!
Nice local indie theater. Comfy seats good snacks at the snack bar.

Nice local indie theater. Comfy seats good snacks at the snack bar.
Memories. Lots of great memories.
Unconventional & charming; fantastic movies; and reasonably priced, wholesome refreshments such as organic popcorn with real butter!
Good movie selections, friendly staff,
Very nice theatre featuring independent and niche movies. The popcorn is delightful!
I love the films they show. My only issue is I have food allergies. They make their popcorn with canola oil which I am highly allergic to. I wish they would use coconut, palm, olive oil or even plain vegetable oil so i could get popcorn there! Also i wish they had more gluten free options. GF cookies or Hershey plain chocolate bars are GF.
Parking can be great, or it can be a very long walk. When there is an event downtown, the closest parking is a long walk from the theater. Not their fault, but you need to leave 15 minutes earlier to get to the movie on time...
Great popcorn, wick and friendly staff, nicely kept theater
Small, comfortable theaters, good audio and film quality. This theater and the Del Mar have the best films in town, too!
The best place for Indie films in Santa Cruz hands down. The theaters are a bit small and the slopes seating is very subtle so try not and sit behind anyone too tall.
I love indie and foreign movies I think it's great santa cruz has this! Comfortable seating, clean theater, friendly staff, reasonable prices.
Unique movies and popcorn with real butter!
A Santa Cruz institution. We are so lucky to have these independent movie theaters, this and the Del Mar, both
Mostly Indie and foreign films at a reasonable price. The snack bar is reasonable, too, unlike the major chains. Yes, the theater is dated, but it's clean and where else can you see these kinds of films (the Del Mar, but that's the same owners)? Note: now owned by small chain, Landmark, but still acts like local theater.
Was a 5 star. New owners don't have the same commitment as evidenced by the the closure of the aptos cinema. Obviously it's about p& l and not community
Cool theater with really neat movies! Usually play oscar wining hipster movies
A great theater with unique movies playing and tasty snacks.
Classic santa cruz theater
Best popcorn in all of Santa Cruz. Great staff too. And wonderful eclectic indie movies!
Intimate theatre showing indie films. Best popcorn!
A rare thing, an independent movie house! Show your support before it goes the way of the rotary phone! And other embelishments...
Great small independent theatre. Great movie selection, and each room feels small and intimate in a way giant megaplexes don't.
I love this theater! They always have interesting independent movies and documentaries. The place is always clean and the staff is friendly and pleasant. Plus tickets are relatively cheap!
Hometown theatre with the BEST popcorn and most interesting movie choices.
Great local theater showing fantastic independent movies. The buttered popcorn is a must with brewer's yeast!
Let my friend and I watch an r rated movie (8th grade movie it wasn't even worth the r rating)
The Nick is iconic in Santa Cruz. It shows a choice of six films, generally independent. It's a real fan favorite among the locals, along with its sister theater, the Del Mar, a few blocks away. These two theaters are the ones I frequent most often.
Love it. So glad we finally made it to a movie here. Great concessions -penny ice cream-yum! Movies you don't get to see at other theaters
Intimate art house movies. Best popcorn in town!
Great popcorn
Great local place for more indie-like movies. Reminds me of an awesome small town theater.
Great theatre. Staff very friendly and helpful
Nice little small theater, plays a good variety of movies
Beautiful theatre with the best selection of true, independent films. I hope it never goes away, every town needs at least one theatre like this.
Always had good experience here. Feels local. Play films might otherwise miss.
Great movies that you won't see in the major theatres.
Great popcorn and good employee service
Located in downtown Santa Cruz, the Nickelodeon Theatre is a hybrid of your classic old theater with some local artsy flare. She is a gem of a movie theater with a great selection of independent and foreign films.
It was nice when I went because it wasn't too crowded. Seats are reasonably comfortable. I could see how it would be easy to have your view of the screen blocked though if the theater is crowded.
Loved it! Amazing hidden gem!
They get the best movies. Period.
Fun place to watch a movie on a rainy night. Always fun to go there.
Love this theater. Bathrooms need new low-flow toilets though.
Love this theater plays lots of foreign and indie films.
Awesome place to see movies!
A great selection of indie films weekly! Love seeing what they have each week. Perfect for an evening in downtown Santa Cruz, dinner & a movie
Small independent theater chain. They play lots of interesting, small films.
Memories. Lots of great memories.

Always a positive experience.
Lovely old neighborhood Theater!
The young man with very short brown hair working behind the concession counter was so funny and kind he really made the experience so much fun, he asked if we would like any dessert or popcorn and told us how great the chocolate chip …
quaint theater with great alternative films and yeast to mix with popcorn
Great local theater. Come here to see independent films in a smaller, cozy venue.,
Nice
I like the nick. I like the independent film choices. The theater is small and charming and ticket costs are fair. We drive from Watsonville to see movies there. We enjoy the matinees. Popcorn is fresh...yay!
Exactly the type of small independent theater you'd expect in Santa Cruz. Go the Nick!!!
Good 'arthouse' movie theater in charming and eclectic downtown Santa Cruz. Several small screens,4 i think
Weird movies, great place
Still one of the very best lineup of movies in the county! Been coming here for decades and the movies are fantastic and the ambience is smart and wholesome! I highly recommend the Nickelodeon theater for a really great evening of high quality movie going!
Really cute little theatre. Great popcorn. Shows movies not showing in a lot of other theatres. Pretty good prices. Make sure to get there early because the theatres are tiny
Quality local theater. Good customer service.
Awesome tiny independent theater. Only a couple screens but cool vibe with 2nd hand movies. Only been here a handful of times but cool place to see movies that aren't as mainstream. Staff is very cheerful.
Historic, hip Theatre shows films of an eclectic assortment.
Great old style theater. Friendly folks, usually good choice of movies.
Comfortable, friendly and classic theater.
Love this local theatre, with real popcorn!!
Nice theater. Great snacks. Small intimate atmosphere
Local theater with a selection of indie films. The quality was good and the seats were comfortable, but not reclining and the image isn't as bright as I'm use to, but not a deal breaker.
Great films. Organic popcorn and personable staff.
I come here as often as I can as they almost have something interesting to watch. The popcorn is always fresh, the employees are alway nice, they're local and they're as Santa Cruz as you can get.
A quaint, old theater. Great place of nostalgia to see movies at.
Great cinema, interesting films fun for a night out that doesn't involve big explosions and super heroes
Always great movies and a friendly staff. Comfortable and clean theaters, too. Snackbar is solid, but more limited than larger theaters.
Great local spot to see a somewhat 'off' movie.
Good movies, good decor, friendly and comfortable.
Great little gem in Downtown Santa Cruz. Friendly staff, clean and quaint. Higher-end quality snacks available.
Movies you just will not see in the corporate theatres. A great lical tradition.
A fun little movie theater!
Good movies, though Chappaquiddic was not fully illuminated, not bright, but riveting none the less.
Comically tiny screening rooms, but they make up for it by showing the world's best movies.
Great old time theater with real butter popcorn
It is a very old movie theater, and it has a wonderful and courtesy staff on hand!!!!
Its a great cinema place by Santa Cruz city. Special foreign films every week and great staff. I forgot my phone and they save it for me to pick it up right after when i went back to the Nick.
Nice venue, friendly help and relaxed ambiance.
A very good art theater . The specs they sell are all big cut above most movie theaters . For instance they serve real butter with their popcorn . A comfortable theater. they bring very good movies to Santa Cruz
