Erica Parker

Took my daughter for her 13th Birthday. Had some technical difficulties during the 4D presentation of Nightmare Before Xmas but once it got going it was worth the wait

Momo R

Great movie experience! It was a lot of fun the combo deals are not expensive they had unique popcon buckets and drink cups... our movie started with an opening show it was very nice! They do have parking right across the street and they validate for the parking. It is an older style theater so the seats are close together and after the show the hall gets crowded because there are only two restrooms..

emily langham

Such a great theatre. Love the show that they have before the movies. Went to go see toy story 4, all the characters were singing and dancing in real life before the movie. They even had confetti shooting from the sky. highly recommend especially if you're with kids or friends

Crystal Lopez

Amazing Staff. Very Fair Prices

Jose Gutierrez

Always a great way to watch a Disney movie. Very attentive staff. Decent concession food. Wonderful opening shows. A beautiful old theatre.

WATCHMAN218

Went to the premier for Avengers Endgame and it was amazing!!!! The line to get in was super smooth and the place was super clean and presentable. The staff was happy to help us with our drinks and popcorn aswell as assisting me and my girlfriend to our seats. Only issue would be exactly that last thing. The seats are super small and I was sitting shoulder with some random stranger. New seating is a need at the El Captitan but other than that it was perfectly perfect.

Ethan Coco

Such an experience being in these older theatres. If you don't like hearing kids all throughout your movie though, go elsewhere. I have to admit though, k owing this theatre is ran by Disney, hearing kids is very forgiving. Saw Dumbo, and loved it. Can't wait to see Avengers here!

qualow888

A beautiful building attached to the Gharadelli chocolate ship on Hollywood Boulevard (the two shops have a heavy Disney tie in (El Capitan is a Disney owned building I believe). We saw Tim Burton's Nightmare before Christmas in 4D. Was a great experience. Started with an organist playing music live on stage. Then the organ lowered below the floor of the stage. Main feature was 3D and on occasion there were physical effects such as lighting, some fog and even snow falling in the theatre whilst it was showing on screen. Was also supposed to be the smell of pumpkins but we didn't notice that one (also I did notice the strong spearmint smell of the woman chewing gum next to me!) $14 for adults, $11 for kids (with a premium package that includes popcorn and a drink) We were in row H, seats 9 10 and 11 and I don't think you could have gotten better seats in the orchestra section. There's also a balcony section but the ticket guy said orchestra get a best 4D effect. Next movie coming was Hocus Pocus with others coming. For a 3D or 4D experience, it's a must as it's a one off experience for most kids! We saw it at 10am but if you see the evening show, drop next door to Ghiradelli for a chocolate sundae or banana split

Edwin Oliva

Went to go see the Toy Story 4 premier and it was good and all until the little kids would not stay quite. Should have seen it coming.

Portia Mitchell

Went here to see Avengers Endame. Never been to the theater before, and it was a super cool experience! There was a guy playing Organ on the stage prior to the movie starting. And when he was done he went into the floor and there was all kinds of cool curtains that went up to reveal the movie screen! Bathrooms and concession stands are right outside theater doors, so nothing like the big theaters these days. Definitely going back to see another film here very soon. I

Debra Shade

We took Millie 3 El Capitan to see Toy Story 4. They were very nice and took me and Millie down the elevator to the second floor where we got to see forky. It was my first time there and I enjoyed it I highly recommend it

Suzie Ruiz

Throughout the years and all my many visits (I'm a big fan of their Throwback Thursdays ❤), my experiences have all been top notch. The employees have always been friendly and helpful. On the occasions when I've brought my wheelchair-bound Mother, they have all gone above & beyond, making her experience just as good - or better than, everyone else's. From the photo-ops, to the movie props, to the TBT raffles, to the absolutely amazing organ playing before each viewing, I highly recommend treating yourself & your loved ones to a viewing (or three) here. You will not be disappointed.

blanca Olguin

Wonderful and memorable experience watching The Nightmare Before Christmas in 4D! El Capitán Theater is such a beautiful venue, filled with so much history. I was giddish knowing that so many famous Stars had been there and I would be sitting in a seat where they sat! Will definitely do it again!

S.P. Dudley

Amazing. Be sure to go to the ticket desk and inquire about a tour. I got a one on one tour from a cast member, complete with behind the scenes detours. Definitely worth it.

Mark naranjo

This place was great and is awesome to watch Disney movies. I wish I lived here or there was a theater like this back home. It was a great experience and if you have not done it you should.

Noel Ungui

Went here today with the family to watch "The Nightmare Before Christmas 4D". They had a great deal for VIP tickets for $10, that comes with a souvenir bucket of popcorn and a bottle of fountain drink...

James Fong

This place is a great, famous place that has premiered big movies for generations. Wgen we went, they had actual costumes on display from the movie we were seeing, Avengers Endgame. There was an organist playing live music on a one of a kind Disney jewel of an organ. I suspect he plays daily, even if there is only 3 people to watch the movie. The balcony level has vintage displays and pictures of past gala events, picture openings of the past century. Mudt see at least once!

Ronen Mintz

Best place to take your kids to a movie. Still had the Hollywood old school glamour film veering feel

Gerlinde Gössinger

Dear El Capitan Team, A huge THANK YOU to Brandon from New York. We never experienced such an amazing theatre tour in our lives! So much knowledge and passion in this tour - amazing. This will forever be in our heart and brain. And after a reccomendation from Brandon we really had to buy movie tickets afterwards just to see the organ again! It was such a pleasure to see and hear it. We really don't regret it! We won't forget you El Capitan and Brandon of course.

Jennifer Hayhurst

An iconic and historic theatre that we have been going to since I was a kid. Disney owns it but has done a stunning job keeping it nostalgic.

Freddy C-A

Great place to see movies & to get the Disney experience. The theater has an organist, a basement for exclusive movie props, and opportunities to have Fan events for all Disney films. Though in the middle of Hollywood, they partnered to the mall across to get parking at a reasonable price. I gave this place 4 stars not because of the location or the exclusive nature for fan events, but the seating. Yes, the seats are small and can be uncomfortable when staying there too long, like a film that lasts more than 2 hours and a half. Now, please note that I did two (2) movie marathons there and have stayed the night at this amazing theater. My only wish is that they improve the seats like Arclight, AMC, or Regal theatres that have adjusted to the times. I understand the historical context of this theater where many films over many decades have been played, but the comfort of being in a theater where there is enough leg room for another person to pass without standing is not asking too much. Overall, a great place and I would love to recommend anyone who is visiting LA to at least see a film there, but be warned if you are taller than 5'8" like my girlfriend leg room will be tight. Other than this I would gladly go to El Capitan and see another Star Wars movie marathon if the opportunity presented itself.

Justin Kwiatkowski

Spectacular art decor masterpiece. Wonderful place to see a film in Hollywood.

Mabel Torres

My kids really had a great time!!! We went to watch Toy Story 4 and they love it. We definetly will be back.

Jose Carrillo

Amazing. They go all out. Not expensive for what they do.

Roxanne

Loved this place! The theater is amazing! Beautiful inside and outside. Felt like we were walking into a play. We sat in the back and we could still see perfect. The stairs are a little steep in the back. Also, the 4d is 3d with lights and sounds. The seats do not move. Never the less. Show was fantastic!! Also, staff is really nice.

ash ash

I'd recommend it. It's beautiful to be in and the people there are friendly. They helped my Gma and I find our seats. Just know the seats are so close together. You'll be touching the person you're trying to pass to get to your seat.

Royal T

The service was great. The show was amazing. The only thing I Highly Request is that you all invest in New Seating. Its dirty dated and looks horrible.

Tywana Wright

Saw the Lion King here on July 18th for a special early Fan e and it was fabulous. I love how they keep the nostalgia of the theater with the decor. The staff members are super helpful and cheerful. My daughters and I had an amazing evening!

Kathrine Jacobsen

So much fun. Definitely worth seeing a show here no matter what you see.

Angel Medina

Perfect date night and or family fun. VIP TICKETS ARE WORTH IT.

Sara J

Best place to watch Disney movies. Normally they have extra goodies to check out which makes it a better place to see the movie at.

Paul Klein

very old Los Angeles art decco theater taken over by Disney and brought up to its majestic prime. Wonderful place to see first run Disney animations, they typically put on live shows before movie or play an old pipe organ from days of old. Great concession stand, plastic buckets for pop corn and Disney gift shop for after movie. Like everything Disney, very high value but at a costly price.

Maxwell Harris

My sons first movie many years ago. Now I take family kids to see it when the El Capitan does a special showing. They love it too.

FairytaleFilmmaker

Military discount is well worth claiming here! Half off tix and snacks. Very cold theater but that's normal, isn't it? Magnetometers at the entrance...that was new.

Ulises Herbert

If you want to give your kids the ultimate Disney movie experience, this is the place to bring them. I recommend getting VIP because the line does get long and it includes popcorn and a drink. Before the show they have an organ player and a show. If you like history and architecture you'll appreciate the building, they did a great job restoring it. After the show they have a small museum in the basement that usually includes movie props. Only thing they can do better is have more movie related toys in the store next door, we were looking for Dumbo stuffed animals after the movie and they didn't have any.

Annaleah Marinelli

We went to see Lion King and really enjoyed it. We were able to take our picture with Pride Rock and enjoyed the organist player.

Michael Salcido

This place is magical and special. Every kid or adult kid at heart should experience. Definitely recommend it to everyone to watch a movie here.

MizDroid07

Loved the retro customer service. Will be go again.

Leo Sanchez

This place is so unique on it's own. Either a live musical or performance before the movie or both! The picture quality I would say is 8/10. Sound is like a 7/10. The seats are 5/10. They dont recline at all or have any walking space between rows so its difficult to get around. Other than that it's a nice place. I would go to Chinese theater inside tho.

Erica Wyatt

I was just here on a date with a cutie. Had so much fun. It was cold in the theater and he gave me his jacket. Awwww, I actually enjoyed myself. Thank y’all for a pleasant experience. We’ll be back.....

Evan Wilder

Good sounds in the theater and sharp beautiful projector. And impressed by the old fancy styling in the building.

Donna Roddy-Petersen

Very cool place to have experience authentic and vintage movie-going.

Rebecca Garcia

Great experience except for uncomfortable seats and very little space. Manager greeted us before the movie which was nice. Very friendly and helpful staff. Great having live music before the movie.

Gabo Godinez

Excellent place to watch my favorite movie! The experience was amazing! Thanks to my beautiful wife for this awesome gift! #nightmarebeforechristmas #elcapitantheatre

Lisa Diggs

Beautiful building, comfortable seats and wide screen to watch the movie.

Judy Smith

I was at illusions museum That place is AMAZING. 5 year old granddaughter had wonderful time. Was disappointed some of the illusion rooms were closed for renovations. Otherwise WONDERFUL, AMAZING & FUN

Sarah Grover

Saw the new Aladdin movie and it was SO much fun! There was a live organist playing Disney songs before the movie started, which was a lot more entertaining than watching commercials. If you park in the parking garage across the street they will validate up to 4 hours for $3.

American Riviera Tours

Excellent historic theater. Very good view, if seat on a balcony. We went to see Dumbo and there was about 15 min small circus acts before the movie. Enjoyed a lot!

Sorah Shin

Love the extras put into the movies they host. Love the ambiance and look forward to going to another one with kids that enjoy all the showmanship.

Karen Cravatt

El Capitan Theater was awesome! Beautiful inside. Saw the new Aladdin. Ticket price included getting our picture taken onstage w/Aladdin backdrop, getting to wish on Genies lamp and getting to see some of the beautiful costumes from the movie (in glass cases)before we got to see the movie.

Suzi Gonzalez - Monroy

This place never disappoints. The movie was great I enjoy bringing my family here to see movies.

Dan Urban

This place is just awesome. You can say it's just a movie theater, but Disney really goes the extra mile to make it an experience with driving to Hollywood for. Get there early and get in to enjoy whatever sort of pre movie entertainment they have in store for you. Heads up, the lines to get in can be pretty ridiculous, but they move pretty fast and seats are reserved. Stay after the show to explore the theater a bit and see some costumes and props from the movie. During the show, just sit back and enjoy the atmosphere in a fully restored, historic theater. It's simply amazing, and must be experienced.

Vickie Morris

Clean, tastefully modern, ample personal space, especially for the long-legged movie-going giraffes like me. Great assortment of refreshments. I have a very short list of theaters that are around nowadays which provide a decent, movie-going experience without feeling like I'm sitting in current-day coach class on domestic flights, and El Capitan Theatre is on that list.

Alexandra Reyes

Great theater. Went to watch The Nightmare Before Christmas in 4D and I loved it. Staff is friendly and helpful.

Wilmer Hernandez

First time here for the Lion king and we loved it! Definitely a classic theater (to not say old) so it's a bit small and chairs aren't the greatest but it's beautiful!! Definitely a nice experience and something different than the ordinary theater.

Fernando Gallegos

Historic landmark, well kept. Great atmosphere it make you feel like if you were back in time, like in the golden years of Hollywood! The organ concert prior the screening of the movie is fantastic...

Liv Trebino

I love the ambience. This theatre is vibrant in color and exciting to be there. I love the package of a ticket and having our bucket popcorn with soda ready to enjoy the night. There is an Organ player that entertains audience with great movie theme songs before the movie starts. Love this theatre!!!

Jackie Betancourt

Old movie theater on the famous Hollywood walk of fame. Convenient to buy your tickets online as they get sold out. Very friendly service.

Oliver Kieler

noble cinema, super friendly Service personal ! You are allowed to enter even the stage. There is a very interesting picture excibition in the upper floor. They show Hollywood movie Premiere events in that cinema ! At night great lights outside.

Crystal Villanueva

Adults and kids love this place. Some shows are better than others (movies accompany something extra: music, animal show; light show;etc) so check online. The VIP ticket is worth it if you want to grabs popcorn a drink and sit down. As soon as the doors open the show starts so you don't want to waste time at the concession stand or be split between grabbing something to eat and drink or getting in line to take a picture with the character!

Stefan Ross

..... Saw Jon Favreau's THE LION KING and it was a such a pleasure to see it here at the El Capitán! The staff here was so friendly and eager to HELP BIG TIME! My new acquaintance that came with me, spilled some of her popcorn and the staff replaced it immediately, no questions asked. And that super clear image on the screen looked great, especially for a larger than Life epic film. Thank you so much El Capitán! GRAZIA!

efini mazda

Incredible, of the countless times I have seen Nightmare Before Christmas this viewing was by far the my favorite. The decor, 4D effects, and exhibit really add to the experience.

ELi Garcia

I love going to El Capitan Theater when ANY new Disney movie premieres! Today was a wonderful experience!

Kayla Gower

Beautiful theater with a wonderful rich history! If you have the opportunity to go on a tour it is a lot of fun to hear about everything the theater has gone through since it opened. Technically owned by Disney they restored it to its original glory and added in a couple of Disney fun stuff but still maintains ths classic look. Would gladly come again!

Scott Tixier

We worked on the Lion King and got to see it at El Capitan with the cast & crew , it was a magical theatre!! Gorgeous atmosphere and wonderful screen

AMANDA RANGEL

What a great place to share with friends who have never been here! Staff was amazing and definitely rolled out the Disney Red Carpet for us. One of our friends has some mobility difficulties and they stayed a little late so that she could see the behind the scenes which required careful navigation of the stairs. Thank you for your understanding and consideration. It really made her night!

Barbara Davis

Love going here, all the history and glamor of the golden oldies. Beautifully restored and well maintained.

Jasper de Guzman

There is something special about watching a Disney film in this theatre. There is a lot of history in this place and you are part of that history by simply watching a film here. It brings out an emotion in your heart that might have been long gone and it brings out joy in children, joy that can only be brought by the magic of Disney. The El Capitan will bring you back to the Golden Age of the film industry bringing modern equipment along into the journey.

Keiko Pino

Love this theater! Decorations were lovely. I went to see Dumbo. I got to see small circus performance before the movie and it was entertaining. I definitely come back when I visit Hollywood!

Spencer Thompson

Took the family down to go see you story 4 my mom took myself to all of the previous toy storys when I was growing up it was nice to take her to go see the 4th

Shawn Shepherd

If you want to see a Disney movie....this is the place! Great staff, kept everything moving smoothly - from entering to concessions- to getting seated. And the movie experience itself is great. Yes....it's a little "old school", but it's awesome.

Doris Dyer

Had a blast we went to go see Lion King

Chanda Scott

It was a very fun place to watch a movie. My family and I really enjoyed it.

Faviola Murillo

My family and I went to see Aladdin. We loved the set up of everything and the customer service. Great experience to see movies ❤️

Rhonda Nichols

We had a wonderful time seeing Aladdin. El Capitan is a beautiful theater and there are lots of special perks that come with seeing a movie here.

LAwizard

I have been to this theater plenty of times and each time was miserable. The only good thing is there exhibits of costumes from the movies. If you get seats on the 1st floor the seats are pretty much level so if anyone sits in front of you. You have a guaranteed head blocking part of the screen. The last time I sat on the first floor to see Captain Marvel, the ushers let this kid with light up shoes constantly clank his shoes together and create a flashing distraction. Just recently I saw Avengers End Game with my mom and tried balcony seats to see if it gets better. The view was great of the screen. However I have never seen seats so tightly packed together and there was absolutely no leg room so if someone wants to get by to use the bathroom it is impossible. Also the railing from the balcony is kinda low and scary but that helps your view of the screen I guess. While we were on the balcony the floor was incredibly sticky and disgusting and throughout the whole movie a woman was talking to her boyfriend. Ushers did not do anything even when other movie goers were looking back and it's not like I can get out and notify anyone. Because it's so dark and one wrong slip and you can fall over the railing and die. I only go for the exhibit and I'm glad this wasn't my first time seeing End Game. Go to the Chinese Theater Imax or Arclight Done. Much better service and way less distraction.

Susan Friedman

Love it! This theater is owned by Disney and exclusively shows Disney movies. It's definitely the best place to watch Disney movies in Los Angeles. There is usually a nice exhibition of costumes and props, character meet and greet, or photo opportunity to go with the movie being shown.

A. R.

Great theater but small seats... I'm a big guy so that makes a difference. Did Hocus Pocus this year with the wife, it was awesome.

Josias Ruiz

Kind staff, wonderful historic venue, great date spot!

Wannis Arzromalian

This is a beautiful theater, however very uncomfortable seats. If you are over six feet and over 200 pound you may feel very uncomfortable on the seat.

JC Lam

My family and I love coming to this theater. They normally have special props or preshow events. Staff is awesome and attentive. If we came to watch a movie, we try to come on Sundays since there is less traffic. Thankfully, they give parking validation and you pay only $3 for 4 hour parking at the Kodak parking lot. This theater makes watching a movie extra spacial. Totally worth it. Just make sure you come early.

Qwen Lee

It was a whole new experience for me in Disney. I would love to come here again for upcoming Disney movies.

Jess Colopy

I paid $16 for a Saturday night Lion King showing here, basically for bragging rights that I saw a movie in the theater where the Disney premieres are held. But this was an EXPERIENCE. They had a live world renowned organist playing Disney classics from memory, and allowed you to go onto the stage to get a picture with the decor they had set up. The previews were shorter than most movies since they were just upcoming Disney films and they came with an introduction from a kind cast member who thanked us for being there. The VIP deal is great if you want snacks, you save a lot. But save room because your ticket comes with a coupon for ice cream at the soda fountain next door, which is conveniently attached to the movies. :) Also, don’t worry about how you dress for this theater! There was anything from people from nearby hotels in their PJs, to people dressed up from fancy dinners, to kids in costumes.

Craig Baker

The most lavish of four Hollywood Blvd theaters designed for live performances, it opened in 1926, featuring stars such as Buster Keaton, Clark Gable, Henry Fonda, Jason Robards and Will Rogers. It was renamed the Paramount Theatre in 1942 and became a movie palace. "Citizen Kane" premiered here. Its original name and appearance were restored in 1990. The exterior is Spanish Colonial style and the interior is East Indian.

Nancy D.

What a beautiful theater! I can't believe I've never been to The El Capitan. I went here for the first time to watch Beauty and The Beast and I can't imagine watching it anywhere else! It just made the movie extra magical. Side note: I watched Beauty and The Beast twice and both times at the El Capitan! Check out their gallery downstairs. They display the costumes and props that were used in the movie! Excellent staff too! Not only do they help you find your seats, they also help you take great photos! -1 star for tight seats. It can be a bit uncomfortable because there's not a lot of leg room. Also, views may be obstructed if there's a tall person seated in front of you. Save yourself the hassle and just park at the Hollywood & Highland. They validate!

Ronald Burgundy

The theater is a landmark. It's artdeco architecture is extremely beautiful. The sound is awesome. The only thing preventing me from giving it 5 stars is the cost. Very expensive. $6.00 for a bottle of soda? Yikes!

Junior Rodriguez

Great place for the family very nice theatre nice seats and staff

marlo salcido

It was Awesome..had a great time...just gorgeous inside...loved it

Rebecca Guez

Concessions are pretty standard movie theatre fare, but the popcorn buckets are often themed to the current film.

Christopher Peterson

A magical theater. The pre-movie shows are of the outside Disneyland kind, and I don't love those. The seats are narrow and not stadium seating.

Rick Perez

Love the preshow. Kiddos loved it. The Forky exhibition downstairs is awesome and great place to take pics.

Jessie Lucas

Great location for premieres. I'd highly recommend lyfting to avoid traffic and parking.

Miguel Molina

A great place to watch the movies. I watched the Toy Story 4 with the Excellent live on stage pre-show with a live band,Woody & Buzz Lightyear.

tanmay roy

It's truly amazing ... Best theatre i visited in my life.. and the Lion King is made for this theatre only.

Cindy Wu

The first movie I watched here was the Snow White 80th anniversary movie and it was awesome. Ever since then, I keep coming back for fan nights (only when I have time) to experience the fan night. The seats were comfortable and I like how they have a jazz band playing or a dance performance before the show.

Ashley Callis

Just saw Aladdin. Staff was very friendly. I LOVE the decor and atmosphere inside its original looking , very old Hollywood , down the the mannerisms and uniforms of staff, it was like stepping back in time. Loved it!! Great place to take the kids and i spent less then at a regular movie theater.

Luis Estrada

Awesome night at the theater! Saw Disney's Dumbo. It had a live circus

Zachary Noyce

Really fun and unique place to see a movie and make it a more memorable experience. Definitely pricey for what it is, but not completely egregious.

Sidney Marquez

What a magical place. Hollywood/Disney. Went to go see the new Tim Burton, Dumbo. It was fabulous. The organist was outstanding, playing all of the Disney picture songs. Brought out the child inside. Good feeling in your soul. Family fun day, Sunday. If you haven't been to El Capitan, highly recommend it.

ori harel

It is really a unique experience to watch a movie in this gorgeous theater

Hannes Zerner

We went to see the new Toy Story movie there and if you're interested in watching a great movie in an amazing location go to the El Capitan. The Flair of this theater is beyond amazing.

Jennie Shipman

Love this historic old theater!! Had great reserved seats on the balcony, lots to look at inside, they offer tours as well, friendly and helpful staff

Steven Marchand

Beautiful venue. The theater organ concert before the movie is great!

Maria Cordero

Staff is kind and welcoming. We loved the whole experience. Can't wait to do it again!!!

Becky M

Fun place to take grand daughter to see Alladin. Workers were a little rude but the theatre itself was quite nice and gave a magical atmosphere. Will definitely go back

Sands Time

Very helpful, courteous, employees. My favorite theather.

jennifer hyatt

Fun experience. Depends on the show you see. We love seeing the princesses. Popcorn is probably the WORST I have ever had in a movie theater.

Donald Duck

Love the theater but they really need a bit more room between the seats.
