REVIEWS OF Del Oro Theatre IN California

M Henderson

Classic theatre chopped into two balcony screens and a lower level screen. low audio frequencies leak from lower 5o upper screen rooms and vice versa. Young people run with enthusiasm. E-tickets recommended for popular shows, but you still have to visit the box office to 'redeem' online 'reservations' that cost about $13.

Martha Lear

Old-school cool!...nice staff.Good movie selection. They carry all the traditional snacks

Clayton Horn

Just watched It Chapter 2 with my 13 year old. Not a fan of the horror genre but this movie is a classic. Best part was seeing it at the Del Oro Theater. Took my daughter to dinner in downtown GV and then the movie. Great location, friendly staff and a classic theater feel. Very nostalgic. Go grab a bite downtown then hit up the Del Oro for a flick!

Frank Santos

It's an old historic theater with upgraded seating needed.

Robert Burk

Nice old theatre showing current releases.

LemonSyrrup

I love this theater so much

Kathleen Kopf

Great venue. Only complaint was last night it was very warm in the theater.

drbobcat6

Inability to accommodate adequately for individuals in wheelchairs. Only one spot available. Often taken by non-disabled people. Should be policed and/or allow early seating for disabled viewers.

Pat Paulo

Great theatre to watch movies if you're in the main theatre. Beautiful Art Deco decor.

Gregory Cavallaro

It's really important to me to rate places in context of their surroundings and local culture. While this place wouldn't blow your mind with it's service and amenities, it's a solid and well staffed local theater that's been a great venue for films over the years. Yes, I'd love more comfortable seats, better sound and larger screens, but this is in a historic space and the owners still manage to keep the prices reasonable. They show some of the best films at this location.

Emily Rose

I love this old town theater, Grass Valley wouldn't be the same without it! The staff is great, seating is comfortable and the art in the main theater makes it an even more special experience.

Jeffrey Wilson

This theater has excellent sound, comfy chairs, lots of leg room between rows and still the look and feel of an old theater. It brought back childhood memories while allowing to enjoy the movie fully. I'd move to Grass Valley just to see movies at this theater all the time.

sean

I always visit here for movies after walking downtown. the location is impeccable. i just wish they would have more of the popular movies so i don’t have to go to sierra cinemas from downtown.

Cameron Sprouse

A classic feel in the theatre rooms. Highly recommend!

Harry Salvini

Good view and sounds, generally clean.

Jim Brunner

Great historical theater for current films and special events like film festivals and opera.

Nida Rodriguez

Always a pleasant experience. Love the old time feel. Wish they had Icee machine.

Joe Conterno

The Del Oro theater is a very nice old style theater they have made it into a multi Plex but it's still has the old thyme style great sound system the regular theater foods except for hot dogs and cardboard pizza that was the best . The prices are fair for today's standards and the seat are the seat are plush compared to yesterday's theaters unless you were in the balonly ,but there up to today's standards and very nice I sat through a 3 hr movie and being disabled was in good shape when leaving so yes this is worthy of a second third fourth and so on many visits .

Scott Johnson

What a great old theater. There is no bad seat. Dolby sound too,

Carrie C

Very old seats high stairs to climb. They really need to update. Sound was good. Staff was nice.

Good quality popcorn, sound, and video.

jjdub 1111

Great place to see a flick! Really cute atmosphere and a historic location!

Gar Gnar

Movie screens, popcorn, ticket subs, rows of chairs, exits near the screens, a water fountain and bathrooms. This place has everything that most all other theatergoers usually expect to find when they pay to watch a new film "on the BIG SCREEN"...

Royce Hays

We really like this theatre particularly the big theatre. It doesn't have all the bells and whistles of some of the newer theatres down the hill but it is still very comfortable.

Kristie Olson

It is a cute theatre but there are a LOT of stairs and the seats are pretty small and the arms don't raise up which was difficult for us with some physical struggles. Note we used the paid parking lot behind and down the hill and it is very nice and cheap.

Joe Pannu

Delightful theater

Sam McMillen

Great old theater. Sure, some of the seats could use an upgrade. But it is cool to go to a movie in an relic of the past.

Titus Davis

I really like this place. It is a great place to get that home town feel while watching a movie. Try the pickles from the snack bar.

Kate Malmgren

Very nice old time theater and the people that work there are great.

Jonathan Slaton

Nice small town theater

Paul Silva

For over 50 years, a classic theatre..

george garnett

When you walk in, it feels like an old fashioned theater. They always have interesting first-run movies.

Jennie Crunk

Such a quaint theater! It is older but very well-kept and clean! Just one thing to be aware of, If you’re not able to park right in front of the theater but behind the theater, it is a steep walk up to the theater! And then the one showing I was in had quite a few steps going up to the seats! Very good exercise but it’s good to know in case you may not be up to it!

Susan Pellerin

Seats need replacing. But still a clean pls e to watch the latest

HusbandBOT 3000

The theater itself is old and kind run down. But the historical valve is amazing. I wish they would set it up for more local plays or play more black n white movies. Cause lets be honest, your gonna go to auburn to see those AAA movies

Paul Brooks

Beautiful Art Deco theater

René Davidson

Great place to watch a movie

Rebecca Trogdon

This is such a beautiful, nostalgic theater! I cannot recommend it enough. The interior is beautiful, the staff is friendly, and the cinematic quality is great. Don't miss out on this theater experience!

Keith Jamison

Very good place to watch movies. It's clean. They have great food. The prices are reasonable. I have seen multiple movies here and every time was a great experience. Great hospitality as well. Never have I been to a more all around great place. The seating is also very comfortable. The crowd was also very respectful too. I can say it enough, this place is amazing. I will continue to go to this theatre for as long it stands or until the end of my days. I can't wait to make more wonderful memories here at Del Oro. And I hope anyone who has had a bad experience here gives it another chance because the place is truly great and is a part of history. So if you want to watch a movie and make a memory that will last come Grass Valley and go to Del Oro, I can almost guarantee you will have a great time.

Michael H

Nice small town. Theater.

Oliver Nelson

Great movies, clean theaters, good service. Do you really need any more?

Brianna Wunderlin

Beautiful and large theater, got into the movie last min. with great seats

Connie Fournier

Love that the history of the theater and the modern technology has interwoven here.

Kelly Clark

My grandchildren and I had the honor of watching The Secret life of Pets2..it was special as the building is over 100 years old..

Mary Trice

Went to see Pets 2. We had medium popcorn and 2 cokes. Popcorn was fresh as well as the butter. Service was very good and friendly!

Keith Earnest

Friendly staff, clean theater, movie excessively loud

Maxx Hudec

Love our historic downtown theater! Almost Gothic Art Deco styling on one of the "grander" buildings in town. Reminds me just a little of Gotham City... A real theater feel with small but modern screens and sound. Updated seating (thankfully!) clean aisles and restrooms with wheelchair access. All that matched with a good old fashioned ticket window. :) Enter through the very beautiful triple set double doors and you are greeted by a concessions stand that looks like its right out of the 1950's. Staff on hand is always polite and does their best to work through the masses in a timely fashion so as to get everyone into the theater and off to enjoy the show. Hard to choose a favorite with 2 really decent theaters in our small town (all 3 options owned by the same folks) but I'd say Del Oro is hard to beat for an alkost nostalgic film viewing experience.

Jim Nethercott

One of my fav places to visit when in town

Jacob Harper

Cute old time theater. Helpful staff. Nice accommodations.

Jonathan Smith

This theater has upsides but also has many downsides... even for a small town theater I wouldn't understand why they dont have any kind of food other than popcorn and candy, we skip the snack line in this one. The next thing is that I dont understand how this theater doesnt seem to have any handicap seating? I am not handicap but I do work with people who are so this is the type of thing I always look for in a place, and I saw nothing. Even if someone in a wheelchair managed to get into the theater, all of the seats are up steep stairs with no ramps and no seats on the main level that can be accessed without going up another step. These two things are my reasons for 2 stars... other than that the theater was clean, the staff was friendly, and the theater has good surround sound systems. The screens arent as big as newer theaters but this is what you get in a small town so that is fine. The seats are also what you would expect. Not bad but not great either.

Linda Fischer

Nice event.

Diana Lathim

Been coming here since 1970 at age of 5. Great memories, but sure do miss the balcony!

Ken Kligerman

Cute old classic 1930s cinema.

Ethan Heston

Clean, good sound, clear screen and competent, professional employees.

Chris Christensen

The Theatre has excellent seating, excellent picture and excellent sound. This old feel if the theatre takes me back to 1976, the first year we saw a show there!

Tara Lacount

I love the way the seats are set up. The last couple times we visited though the butter for the popcorn tasted, as my dayghter said...like car fuel. Not really that bad but not as appetizing as the first few times we went. Guess its a hit and miss.

Jabari James

Love the old fashioned feel of the theatre. It seems as if I am going to the show back in the day.

Jim Slouber

75+ year old theatre, right out of central casting. Now converted to 3 separate theaters.

Allison Powers

Love this theater!! Historic and amazing craftsmanship. Look at the ceiling the next time you go. Also the staff is great.

Kory Bjork

Way to hot inside. Its was 8:30 pm and still toasty outside, and hotter in the theatre by about halfway through the movie. Bait and switch! Lol

Lesa Gonsalves

My favorite movie theater to go to with my sweetheart. We went here on our first date.

Karen Frediani

Love this theater. Great roomy chairs and big screen.

Sherry Sanchez

Love this theater. 5 stars!

Beautiful historic movie theater. You can still see some of the original art deco work, even-though it has been remoldeled into 3 smaller theaters from the original

Elana Sanchez

Staff is so nice and helpful. Love this theater!!

Becca Perry

If you want to get an old school experience, you need to go to this theatre. Its definitely a nostalgic date type feel from the old days, and there is this wonderful man who works the concession, even down to his vocal structure and tone to the patuence he takes with his customers. This kid is going places. Had a wonderful time.

John Tackitt

Not a bad theater, not a great one. Sound is much better at other theaters in the area. Staff isn't all that friendly

Diane Macolm

I was very disappointed in the movie I saw. Didnt need all the foul language. I did like the popcorn and the theater was well kept.

David Olsen

Awesome little renovated theater. quaint an a really neat experience. Highly recommend.

Ryan Speas

Walk in and purchase 4 tickets for myself, 4, 6, and 8 year old. The cashier asks me if i am sure all i want is tickets, "and you are sure you don't want to buy consessions or anything?" I say no thank you. After he rips the tickets he says well "I have to search your backpack then". Search my backpack?! I have walked into that theature a thousand times with a backpack and now because this time I don't buy consessions they want to search me as punishment? I explain to the cashier I have water in my pack, as well as a change of cloths for the kid (if My youngest gets any water on him he freaks out and wants to change ). He says if I let him search it it will be fine. When did del oro theature become Homeland Security? Sure I get they want to sell their overpriced popcorn and what not, but i have never been asked to consent to a search. While i am sure some my disagree I do not do double standards. When i have come by myself with my pack, again with water in it, no hassle, when I walked into the other theature in town owned by the same company, with a bag of candy and water bottle in my hand, no hassel. but because I have kids who are askingbme to buy stuff for them they want to make a deal of it? Yea not ok with me. So I got my money back and left. We will go to auburn to see the movie and all movies from here on out. So yea, del oro is the backpack police and wants to search your stuff. (Or maybe that was just special for me and my 3 kids who were audibly asking me to buy popcorn, candy and sodas). But for me that was the last time I will ever step foot in one of the local theatures. The theatures in auburn are nicer, better, and not that much further.

D. T-Harvey

I enjoyed the quaint art decor style of interior. Seats were comfortable. The old time movie experience.

Seena Drapala

Great theatre. Beautiful inside and outside. Comfortable seating too. Multiple screens.

Jacob Geisick

Excellent service, cool murals on the ceiling, very large and open, Victorian style inside the largest theatre room

Amund Thompson

Beautiful old theater

Vicki Roderick

Older theater with steep steps to 2 of the 3 screens. Often cold so bring a sweater.

john perez

I am old and disabled, and they made me pay $5.50 for a large cup of water. Very very sad

Shelly Hill

Very comfortable seats. Hometown all the way.

Tom Allen

They did a great job restoring and also very helpfull with ada patrons.

Eric Amezquita

Yvonne Moore

The Del Oro is an art deco movie theater with modern, comfortable seating and large screens.

Chuck Cochran

Great old classic theater. Saw Michael Moore's latest movie - Fahrenheit 11-9. I was hoping that it would have been better attended. Only four of us showed up. Too bad! Lots of politics that I wasn't aware of.
