This Movie Theater corresponds to the category of Movie theater.
Aero Theatre is a small little theater (think 4 screens) that caters mostly to a Korean crowd. The place is really clean and the seats are comfy. For the most part, they make it easy to find a seat. Additionally, parking is free (huge boon in the LA area, however, the parking lot can be a nightmare due to it's small size). I really like the plaza Aero Theatre is located in. Overall, I probably won't go here that often (I don't really watch indie Asian movies that often) but it is very nice knowing that it's here in case I did wanted to catch a foreign flick.
Love the programming. Hate the parking, but it's workable
Attended the 11th annual Horrothon! Best experience ever! had sooo much fun! Great vibe.
This theatre is gold. Amazing curation of films and guest speakers. I especially enjoy the Herzog presentations.
I bought ticket s to David ickes film Renegade and on the night of the American premier AERO theater cancelled the showing with no reasonable explanation. They are one of many trying to ban the information presented by Mr Icke and their actions against him are atrocious and go against everything America stands for. I am boycotting this establishment and implore other free thinking individuals to do the same in an attempt to preserve our freedom of speech laws protected by the U.S. Constitution.
Old timey theater, great options ❤️
Simply the Best Revival theater still showing 35 mm and even sometimes 75 mm film in Los Angeles that I am aware of . Good seats large screen inexpensive and part of MoviePass so that makes it unbelievably a good deal. Only drawback is I find it excessively loud and in general I like my music and my music is loud. Also there is no parking whatsoever and the neighborhood is restricted so that can be a bit tricky period on a nice street with lots of reasonable coffee shops and expensive restaurants nearby
A small older theatre, feels more personal, family like.
Nice retro theater, air conditioning was nice, good screen size. The seats don't have a very steep incline so make sure you don't sit behind anyone tall
Not good. Movie out of focus. Manager said the image was best they could do. Huh?
It is a small neighbourhood theatre which shows amazing variety of films. You could catch many Free screenings, especially during the Film festival season. Trivia: parts of Donnie Darko were shot here!
Fabulous theater! Iconic. So happy it did not get torn down! Interesting curation of old films ... often with guest speakers who worked on the film.
I grew up going to the Aero. The early 40's. Before television. My folks would give me a quarter and I'd walk to the theater. The ticket was 14 cents and popcorn was a dime. Had a penny left over. On the walk home from school, I'd stop at the dime store and by a bubblegum with that penny. The billing would be a double feature, newsreel and a cartoon.
You feel a bit of history with every film event they do at this little funky movie house and usually see a star when you go.
A great, cozy, classic theater with the most incredible line up of films I've ever seen. Finally a theater that actually cares about film!
Amazing line up of classic films, along with a lot of foreign Oscar submissions. Very important independent theater, check it out.
Nice people, decent size screen. Seats are a little too small if you are north of 6 feet
Great place. Love going there for Horrorthon. I definitely want to check out more movies there!
Staff helpful, theatre was comfortable and clean, and they play very interesting films.
Excellent old school theater.
Easy parking, great staff, clean, comfortable.
Great nostalgic art deco theater
Great staff, amazing dedication to film.
Wonderful theater with a rich offering of cinematic history. They recently renovated with better seating, which was really really great. We love coming for the great screenings. Friendly staff and fun crowds.
They screen the best! I recommend any event the put on, especially their All Night Horrorthon.
Good venue. Popcorn is fresh
Great place for film lovers. Well run and nerd friendly.
Very cool place. Spacious seating and nice overall vibe, and great selection of shows. The manager on staff last Saturday resolved a weird problem I had with ticketing and saved our night.
A great, old theater in Santa Monica that shows old movies. We came to see ET and it was a full house. Parking can be tough, but on Sunday it's free and unlimited on the streets. If you're a member it's cheaper than non members. A neat place to experience a movie theater from many years ago.
I've been to this movie theater several times already. Great place to watch Korean and American block bluster hits with subtitles. There's no waiting in massive lines, free 4 hour parking with validation, friendly, and courteous staffs, comfy seats...I'm down. the only downfall is that they show a few selections since they only have 3 screens.
Great to see the Miyazaki documentary.
This place is about convenience. It is kinda of cool being able to do Korean BBQ and walk to see a film in the local community.
My local theater I love esp during the q&a's
Great theatre to treat yourself To a favorite old movie! there are also coffeehouses, eateries and a whole foods close by for portable munchies.
My best vintage classic Hollywood movie experiences in Los Angeles. American Cinematheque society is doing great
This place is such a staple of the area. I always have a great time here. The selections are just the best.
I recently saw Its A Wonderful Life here. Theater was packed and the line to the concession stands was very long. Bathrooms are upstairs, but they do have a bathroom downstairs that they ask to leave for seniors. Of course, no one did. Picture quality and sound was good for the old classic. The crowd was good. I'll definitely be back.

Great retro theater, always cool screenings, with relatively cheap tickets and food.
Great theatre run by the folks at American Cinemathique.
I love this place.
Amazing theatre screening old Hollywood movies. Spacious inside and clean.
Great movie selection!
A classic of Santa Monica. Worth visiting, especially when they show classic movies
Love the movies shown here. Theater could use refurbishing.
Seating kind of tight , but good place to go !
Old style classic theater with usually quality audience which adds to the experience. A movie scene for those who enjoy movie making, history, and movie fans.
Great trip back in time to single screen theaters and personal service.
A local treasure! — Cozy art house movie theater, projecting in video and film as available. Excellent programming by American Cinematheque. Historic building.
Small but wonderful theatre with great programmes. After going there once, I immediately got myself a subscription for the season! Prices are cheap and the film selection outstanding.
Fun and classic!
I watched several famous documentaries there. One time Al Gore showed up for the screening of his climate change documentary. The theater is old but it was a nice experience every time. Only problem was the restrooms. It's not designed to serve a long ling of people.
I enjoyed the way the theater is set up. the before and after discussions in regards to the film your about to watch it's enlightening and fun. I understand it's an old theater but the seats need an upgrade, they are very uncomfortable. it makes it difficult to sit through a 3 hour movie.
Great historical theatre to see films of all genres and ages including new and old. Newer films are usually prescreenings with cast & crew members, or during the numerous film festivals held at this location or its sister location in Hollywood, the Egyptian Theatre.
What a great Theater! Good Popcorn too!
Good selection
Interesting spot. They play art films. Seats aren't very comfortable.
The American Cinematheque/AERO Theater is Simply one of the best places to enjoy & celebrate great Films...Classic, Inde, Foreign....all are found at this terrific non-profit Cinema Cultural Institution...
This is a shrine for those who love classic movies and authentic cinema! Recently I got to see the prologue to the 1964 French classic "A Man & A Woman," called "The Best Years of a Life." I also got to see "The Great Escape" starring Steve McQueen, for the first time on a big screen. I'm looking forward to seeing Anna Mae Wong and Marlene Dietrich in "The Shanghai Express" at the end of September. I feel very blessed to have this cultural resource right in my neighborhood --although I'd drive 100 miles to experience these classics.
Fun place to view a classic Hollywood movie on the big screen with an appreciative audience of astute hometown cinephiles.
Classic movies showed in their full glory. Popcorn and drinks are very affordable. Keep it up!
This is one of the best preserved vintage movie theatres in LA and it's a blast to catch an old film here. They also have regular special events on the calendar where industry folks come in to discuss the movie being shown. I recently saw "The Social Network" and one of the actors, Andrew Garfield was interviewed after the movie on stage. Pro Tips: - Get the popcorn. It's amazing. - Support this adorable local theatre!
Movie theater nothing more.
Banned the documentary Renegade about David Icke. Says enough.
Comforting and reasonable, small compared to theaters I've been to
I love the Aero Theatre. It offers such a unique experience of seeing classic films on the big screen. In addition, the opportunity to have those involved with the film talk with the audience is always a thrill.
oldschool vibe, I love little theaters! this is a good one!
The ticket lady said something dumb so we left.
Beautiful projection, the way movies are meant to be seen.
"Dial M for Murder" in 3D! Amazing!
The best place to find old movies on the big screen. I never thought I'd see a Marx Brothers film in a theater, but they show them (every year around New Years, I believe). They also have actors/directors visit to discuss the film when possible. Very cool and I'm glad they exist and seem to be thriving.
Don't look for thrills. Look for the history on the walls. You'll be inspired to create and take in a culture that seems very Gentrified. . .
The love of classic cinema in a bucolic setting enlightens my sensibilities.
Authentic theatre feel.

Went to the Italian Festival. Nice small town movie theater atmosphere.
Disgusting the way David Icke was cancelled at the last minute. Shameful. Hope people react appropriately and body swerve this so called theatre.
Burt Reynolds was very interesting.
A true "locals only" Santa Monica landmark. Thanks to the owners for keeping it alive and in such great shape!
Loved this theatre. Very old school retro date night field. Watched “woodpeckers” and everything was clear and good audio.
My favorite screening theater of all time
It’s the best!
Friendly atmosphere. Nice staff.
the aero is the best movie theater in town. the films are great. the staff is excellent. the sound system is very good. i love the bonus of having frequent q & a sessions after a film with the filmmakers. i love this place. i always feel so comfortable there. i bought a membership and believe it was the best investment i made all year. i recomment you make an effort to experience a film at the aero! you won't regret it!
Excellent
nice to see old movies in!
This place is incredible. I came here to see a double feature of Ladybird and Frances Ha, featuring a Q&A with Greta Gerwig, for a total of $15. Mind you, this was (relatively) long after the Oscar nominations were announced for the film (but before the actual award show), and I had no trouble strutting right into the movie theatre without even waiting in line. THEY ENCOURAGE YOU TO BRING YOUR OWN FOOD - or so I was told by my friend who was saving my 6th row seat as I bought us both food. Parking is not an issue if you're willing to walk literally two blocks SOUTH of Montana (that's toward Wilshire).
Only hardcore movie buffs will appreciate this place! Not for the general public. Have been here many times and met numerous celebrates.
The experience was great. The experience has changed drastically after the renovation. The cinema hall is pretty average in size and the acoustic tuning is also great. Overall it is a very good place to watch classic movies.
Old school movie theater vibe. You can see the classics here as well as some new movies with interviews from cast and crew. Some of my favorite theater experiences of all time have been here! Where else am I going to see 2001 in 70mm??
Old but gold! Very old cinema in santa monica! I like it a lot a lot a lot! Old people are mostly here, old movies are screened every day!
Old theatre that shows great old movies. I saw "The Big Lebowski" tonite.
Amazing theatre
Awesome old theater showing classic movies.
Cozy, small. Only one bathroom for men, one for women, and one for seniors and the handicapped.
Best theater in LA.
Wonderful venue for seeing classic films!
Great theatre that showcases films from the past as well as new releases. Great place to catch a q&a by the filmmakers!
Such pathetic spineless cowards - you and your owners Cinematique, cancelling David Icke's event at the last minute! What about all the hundreds of people that wanted to see it and had booked tickets? Don't you care?? What are you so frightened about?? Individual freedom of speech?? Exposure of the truth? Aren't you supposed to be 'the land of the free'?? Yet just another lie from corrupt and seriously-compromised and sick 'Hollywood'! Even a 'one' rating for you is far too high!
This place is amazing. I signed up for their newsletter so i can stay in the loop for their screenings here and at Egyptian Theater in Hollywood. I prefer this theater over its sister. This place doesn't have parking, but street parking is easy enough to find. I suggest you arrive at least 30 minutes early for their screening, the theater is not very large. You can also buy tickets online, helps beat the line.
This theatre does not like Free Speech and silences alternative films.
It's a nice and spacious theater. It has that good old school vibe you don't get at big chain cinema companies nowadays. Seems like they are involved with or at least care about local issues. I found out about it because of an independent environmental film screening we had to watch for our bio class. The manager of the theater himself came out to greet everyone, there was a panel with youth and city hall representatives who talked about efforts for a100% sustainable energy plans for Santa Monica.
Aero theater has frequent panel discussion after the showing which is great to understand from director or actor's perspectives. Love this neighborhood gem!
Small indy theater...Enjoy the cheap popcorn but look out for the flat seats! Worth keeping tabs on their calendar! Nearby restaurants and bars good for before/afters
Great movies, reasonably priced snacks and drinks, with a miserable climb up a slender stairwell, with one downstairs bathroom for the disabled and elderly. Seats aren't the original seats, but seems to be close in terms of convenience; arms on seats are fixed, tight, with light raking. It's an old "nabe," or neighborhood theatre that used to service aerospace workers during World War II. The tony neighborhood grew around it, constricting parking options to the extreme with heavy penalties to those who consider parking in the neighborhood instead of Montana Avenue.
Amazing theatre!!! Clean and comfortable
Great neighborhood theater in there over 35 years
Xlnt experience at a great venue
One of a kind. This theatre is just astounding. I enjoyed the John Carpenter triple feature here, met John, watched the Teen Wolf re-release and other great films. If you live in L.A. and cherish the arts, flock to this place and support them. The most fun I've ever had at the movies.
Great spot. Big room, big screen, big sound. Guess I'm a big fan...!
This place is great. Worth checking out. Check thier website for features and showtimes.
Very nice community theater. They have membership if your interested in events in the area. We were there to see "Its a Wonderful Life" at Christmastime.
I love this place! The only problem is uncomfortable seats. Otherwise, the staff is kind and friendly, and the films offered are terrific!
Nice old-school theater. Super cozy. Just popcorn and "snacks" unfortunately. So either eat beforehand or put some thing in your bag because there is no place quick and easy to get hot food from @ anywhere (a major disappointment in that regard, but not Aero's fault).
0 Stars for cancelling David Icke's premiere at last minute, such disrespect for the patrons who bought tickets in advance, total lack of living up to your end of a DEAL, when more people hear of this... it's going to hurt YOUR BOTTOM LINE when you cancel contracts at last minute, you could've avoided this hassle by saying NO at first opportunity... I know where NOT to go to catch a screening.
Great theater with amazing sound and picture. Saw 2001: A Space Oddysey in 70mm and it was incredible. Just note the bathrooms get packed during the intermission.
Fun theatre. Saw idiocracy again, the comedy that became a documentary.
Went to the Italian Festival. Nice small town movie theater atmosphere.

One of my favourite theaters in LA!!! Very unique programming and it's worthwhile to be a member!!!
Small boutique theater. They host some cool special events.
Amazing curation, classic theater, cheap concessions. If you're a local, always keep and eye on the calendar. There's some great screenings, Q&As, etc that make going to the movies special.
Funny guests I always come across with my gf every year for horrorthon.
Great place worth a visit no matter what is playing!
I cannot be sure what my experience would have been like here because the event I was to attend was canceled by the venue hours before it was to start.
Always fun 2 C old movies tjerr
Solid movie experience. 70mm and all the details on the big screen. Lawrencd of Arabia was absolutely fantastic. Snacks and drinks were a positive. I suggest the Roosevelt! Although, the seats were a wee bit uncomfortable.. maybe bring a pillow next time? Perhaps. All in all, 10 'outta 10, would come again! :)
Love this theatre. It is really classic and old school. If you get a chance to go see a film here you should really take the opportunity
Great movies...Cinematheque. But still a neighborhood theatre.
American Cinematheque, the non-profit that runs the Aero and the Egyptian in Hollywood, does a great job of bringing a mix of crowd-pleasers, critics' favorites, indies, and foreign movies.
One of the best theater-going experiences you can have in LA because they show old, new, foreign and U.S. films. American Cinematheque also hosts events here many of which I have attended and have been able to ask questions in person of people such as Forrest Whittaker and Colin Firth. American Cinematheque is a non-profit that people can join to attend their events. From watching a series of old Bond films to a weekend of Orson Welles, it's just a fabulous experience, and really easy to grab a bit on Montana before or after a film.
Great Presentations
I love the community involvement the Aero Theatre provides. Don't miss a chance to see a classic movie, art film or educational environmental flick.
Great theater
Nice choice of film and great atmosphere here for movie lovers.
Plumbing issues but so much fun.
Has great original programming, large indie theatre. Needs some upkeep though and bathrooms are way too small for the audience size.
Vintage théâtre hosting international films and special events of old and new Hollywood.
Went for 2 screenings of old movies and q&a and it was awesome!
Excellent projection and sound in the west side home of the Los Angeles Cinematheque
Older theater, but they attract a ton of great directors and actors for Q and A sessions. A different film(s) every night.

A great theater with really great events! I've been to a few of their special screenings, and they're always so fun
I love this old 70mm theater! Especially now that they take Movie Pass which you pay for once a month and you can use once every day at most theaters for free! I have been using it almost every day and it's great! They show old movies at their full screen best and often have double features with a short break when you can take a short walk!
It doesn't get any better.
Great Presentations
I love the community involvement the Aero Theatre provides. Don't miss a chance to see a classic movie, art film or educational environmental flick.
Great theater
cute, vintage, love it!
Nice choice of film and great atmosphere here for movie lovers.
Isn't this the theater in the old 1961 Superboy pilot?
Plumbing issues but so much fun.
This is a great theater. Always comes thru for me when I bring my family here.
ZERO PARKING!!!!
Has great original programming, large indie theatre. Needs some upkeep though and bathrooms are way too small for the audience size.
Vintage théâtre hosting international films and special events of old and new Hollywood.
