REVIEWS OF Pink Palace Museum IN Arkansas

Megan Mickle

Museum is clean and beautiful palace. But if you go to museums frequently you might have seen a lot of the same things before. So it was kind of boring to my husband and I. But the planetarium was amazing, the shows were very informational and the manager who runs it showed us some amazing things at the end. I would highly recommend coming here for the planetarium.

Chris Fisher

Very small amount of exhibits and not terribly kid friendly. If you have gone once don't bother going for another ten years. Which to me is forgivable as long as that one time is enjoyable. Unfortunately because of some extremely rude staff it was not. I cannot endorse a busines that treats there customers as rudely as the treated me and my son.

Anthony N.

Cons: Construction has closed access to the mansion. Several popular exhibits are either closed (circus) or have signs indicating closure in the near future (Piggly wiggly and country store). Not many hands on exhibits for the kids (or at least not well marked they can be touched) Pros: Plenty of other awesome exhibits for Middle School to adult crowd. Super excellent collection of medical, denistry, and pharmacy history objects. Good collection of natural history exhibits for the size of Memphis. Lots of anamatronic dinosaurs. Fav thing for the kids was controlling the "skeleton" of one.

Amber Lopez

Fun time.

Bryant Swanson

Had a lot of fun. The kids enjoyed the exibits.

Anthony Turducken DelRosario

Hadn't been there in decades since before high school. So much Memphis history. Looks great. Can't wait to see the upcoming renovations

Xin Huang

Linda Majors

Great place and great price. Adults and kids alike will enjoy. The planetarium was special.

m coop

The mansion was very nice and had lots of interesting facts. Enjoyed the exhibits.. however the lady at customer service was not helpful. Told her it was our first time and asked questione regarding the movies and she kept typing the whole time and was not helpful.... as soon as my husband came to help me out she was full of info that she had never said before. Also my kids were bored with the movie so we left early. Should have gone to the childrens museum.... wanted to try something new...

Margaret Chind

Every summer, we go to the Pink Palace for the children to enjoy. The museum was great. The exhibits are well done. We went last before the current renovations. One thing is that we will only use cash at the cafe and such, as last time, my credit card was scammed and the police traced it to the cafe in the museum. However, the overall environment is good and getting better. One criminal will not ruin the good museum.

Connie Powell

Always a great time. Even better with the grand children.

David Dawley

Very interesting experience. Eclectic mix of items. Good place to spend 2-4 hours (or longer if do one of the movies). The mock-up of the first Piggly Wiggly is really cool.

Laney Graham

Loved it had so many things to do and their adding on

Angela W

Can be a little hard to navigate in a wheelchair. Sometimes events are a little pricey

Lightman One

Not a big museum, but liked it quite much. They also have a section on local history which was very interesting to me as a visitor not from this region. Learned a lot. As a sidenote: they also have a section with minerals and rocks. Which was very beautiful to see.

Joseph Carden

Very educational place for the kids to learn. Also the adults because I learned a lot myself

Elijah Fox

Great place for kids, I've been going since I was 5. You get in free on Tuesday at 2:30pm

Rick Cobb

Great museum.

john engleman

Absolutely love this place. Wife loves this place. Between my little girl, preteen son, and teenager. They have different exhibits to make us all love the pink palace museum.

Ty Alexander

Excellent 3D movie theater. The film we saw about aircraft carriers was very good, Highly recommended.

Claude Curtis

Went to the dinosaur exebit want a refund it was hot my son said he was bored with it. I'm glad it has one more day.

Chad White

The Pink Palace Museum is a great place to visit. They have one floor dedicated to mostly earth science and another that covers mostly history. The planetarium is impressive. They are in the process of undertaking a huge remodel and giving the entire place a facelift. I can hardly wait to see the results.

Emily Hatcher Collins

Went to my cousin's wedding here. Having the pink museum/mansion in the background made for some great pics. It was memorable.

John Deitenbeck

Great place for the family.

Pavid murtz

I went on a free day and it was cool to check out. You could go quite a few times and see something new.

Loretta Porchia

It was really really enjoyable we had a great time ppl

Danial Hallock

The planetarium show was a little long and contrived for my tastes, but I suppose I was about fifteen to twenty years older than their intended audience. However, the gift shop was among the best of any museum I had seen (reasonably priced and awesome geeky gifts), and the exhibits were enjoyable.

M G

Love the place. You must see the shows in the planetarium, the best part of it all.

William Davis

I go here every visit to Memphis! Love it.

Corolla Mama Toyota Fan

Great place to let the little ones burn off some energy while learning at the same time!

MzTrayce T

I haven't been to the museum as an adult and it was wonderful walking through and seeing all of the exhibits. It was very enlightening to see the evolution of humans and walking through the mock Piggly Wiggly. Loved it.

Russell Segura

The pink palace is a beautiful building made with pink stones. Ask the security guards for the history of the mansion. The staff is very nice and helpful. We got a coupon from our hotel that gave us a free entrance along with a purchase. There is plenty of free parking. We started with the natural history exhibits and enjoyed the gems collection as well as the dinosaurs. They have a history about piggly wiggly and the circus detail with its intricate carving by Mr Parker. We enjoyed the history of Memphis as well and it's medical history. We purchased extra tickets for the enchanted forest and saw holiday village and Christmas city with trains. You can also take a pic with Santa. The best part was the Christmas trees decorated with different themes we loved the Harry Potter tree. It took us about 2 hours to complete the museum. A must visit in Memphis.

Trey Willis

The Planetarium was brilliant!

Mitch Buckner

Great fun. Entertaining & educational

Grow With Viral Video Commercials

I am here from Dallas to see a nephew's wedding. This is an extremely well kept historical building, with a great and helpful staff. I would be crazy not to mention a great place for outdoor and indoor weddings. Keep up the great work Pink Palace. Ask for Christine & Conner with Drapers Catering

Nita Jackson

Nice place to go with the kids

Kimmie-K Autry

Great place to have a large function at. Superb actually

Terry Timmermans

Very good. Enjoyed very much.

Piia Latvatalo

A wonderful, educational and fun place where you can spend hours if you love cool stuff.

Mallary Frassinelli

This is a wonderful example of a museum that blends local history with cultural, natural, and science history as well. The recent renovations were made with care and consideration which is palpable as you walk through the halls of the mansion. The charm of this place has not changed since I was a kid and now I'm sharing that magic with my child and will for years to come. Do yourself and your family a favor and step back in time to the historic Pink Palace Mansion and Museum. I promise you'll learn something new and get a sense of why Memphis is such a unique place!

Geno Hughes

Love it for da kids n myself

Maddie Leavell

Always have great exhibits. Love it here

Dilipkumar Kapadia

Nice museum in Memphis for children and adults.

CAROLYN YOUNG

The kids absolutely love this place. Part of the museum is closed off for construction. However there is still plenty to see and do. Call before you go to see times for scheduled events.

Donna Robertson

We had a great time at the Enchanted Forest.

Amelia Stacey

Pretty out dated for the most part, also has a horrible layout (bad flow). Informative in some areas, but mostly leaves you wanting more. I have high hopes for the renovations occurring. (fingers crossed)

jacqueline starr

Awesome experience for kids and adults! There was so much to see and enjoy. Would be worth visiting multiple times.

SaucyPhant0m

So much to see in the museum. Really enjoyed it. Free on Tuesday! Wasn't to excited about 3D Extreme Weather and Planetarium about Sun. Too bad Pink Palace is under renovation but I'm sure it would of been amazing too. Kids enjoyed experience!

Reed Nolin

A great place for a family outing! The mechanical circus is wonderful!. Interesting history about the founder of Piggly Wiggly. The T-Tex is one of the highlights of the visit. This is a great educational place for kids, of all ages. This will take about an hour and a half to tour the whole facility. So go out and learn all you can, about the Pink Palace!

madavie2010

A great Memphis tradition that expands with the times.

Darnell McCurdy II

Great for families or browsing with friends! Very fun also.

Donald Sharpe

Amazing & Informative!. Great gift shop, first class Planetarium!....

April Cordova

Great family friendly museum. Imax theater is definitely a must.

Emilee Springer

The Pink Palace has some great exhibits, fun special events, and entertaining movies at the CTI Giant theater. It's a no brainer for Memphis residents to become members, because once you pay for 2 visits, it costs the same for a basic membership!

merrill feldman

Nice exhibits on medical history

Hayden Wicker

Was a nice place, fun to explore and be amazed! The gift shop was full of all kinds of wonders at affordable prices, the restrooms were clean, and the employees were very nice! It's a very unique place to explore Memphis history! Definitely coming back here soon!

murray rayburn

All it was great I loved every minute of my show learn a lot of good stuff

D'Artra Rice

Outline of history and the Imax is awesome

Chelsea T

Everything was great.

Kirby Thornton

I am definitely looking for to the renovations. The main exhibits are getting dated. The constantly rotating exhibits certainly add value.

Patricia Jackson

I drive for a living , I see people from all over the world travel to Memphis , Tennessee to call here to see this place beautiful.

Julian Smoger

Cool little museum. We just did the main history museum part. Didn't take very long but the displays are really well done.

Leslie Saputra

Great place for kids and have good rotating museum artifacts.

Yeetus_The_CowGurl 14

Have a lot of cool stuff for the kids!

Wes Merriott

Interesting, eclectic collection of natural and cultural history. The mansion was off limits during our visit, which was disappointing, but the two exhibits that were open were pretty neat. Parking was spacious and the grounds were well kept. Looking forward to another visit to see the palace.

Zachary Buckelew

Worth a few hours to go through the exhibits, there is some interesting stuff to be seen. The staff was friendly and the museum clean. I'm not sure it is worth buying a year pass for, but paying for a single visit is well worth the money.

Margie Moore

Its Free on Tuesdays. It was nice to walk through and see their displays, the dinosaurs and elephants were awesome to look at. The space center showed us the stars as of that day and it was fun pointing them out. A nice collection of fossils and rocks as well. This was a great experience for my little guy! It's a sunny yet breezy day out so I decided to make the Pink Palace apart of our day out. I had a voucher to use for the museum entry- my little one was free and the 3D Big Dream was $10

Gaasuba Meskhenet

I've been visiting this museum all my life and I've always loved it! The permanent exhibits are beautiful and informative enough on their own but they also have temporary exhibits that are always fascinating. There are several interactive exhibits. A new projection dome was added recently for planetarium shows and the like. And the imax is wonderful: the glasses fit over prescription well enough and there is a concessions stand. I can't wait to see the mechanical circus display is finished being repaired~!

Debi Alt

Grand kids loved it!

Tim Scoutelas

Great spot for the kids on a rainy day.

Christine Boswell Boswell

Excellent for kids it will take half of a get through it highly recommend

Jeremy Tracy

A treasure trove of knowledge and learning for locals and visitors alike!

Larry Thompson

We love the Pink Palace, and go multiple times a year.

Russell Ray

Great historical site!

Margaret Camp

I'm sure that I would have loved it but they were closed and on the website they didn't say. Disappointed after driving to Memphis for the occasion.

Chad Bolton

A great place to see history and teach our children

Earn Fullard

Large and very good for all ages

Mallorie Taylor

Nice place but more for older kids.

Nathan

They are getting more donations to redo exhibits and open new areas. Pretty cool things coming in the future.

Keturah Foote

This place has many optics for the family. Right now, the mansion section is closed for renovations. However, the CTI theater and planetarium are open. There are not currently many kid friendly exhibits but this place is a good solid museum.

Christy Stephenson

I don't like the movie theater in the pink palace because it's only 3D movies and I want to see it in ordinary but, I like the rest and they didn't have the full body of the T-Rex I don't like how it changed I liked it when it was in 2013.

eloise picoteiro

A nice place for a family activity! very instructive/ informative

Steve Suitor

Dont waste your time. Just a bunch of displays. Minimal hands on stuff. Kids will be bored.

Justin Smith

Not a bad museum.

Rebecca

Not worth going to anymore. They've gone up in prices, and they now rent the mansion out. Save you money. Full price for only 2 exhabits. Go to the zoo or the mall. They are more interesting. I grew up going here and they NEVER rented the mansion out before.

Rita Castellanos

Its fun i went today with 4rd grade

Fred Hill

Great for families to visit.

Heather Libbey

Love coming any time of the year. The Festival of the trees is wonderful and proceeds go to LeBonheur.

John Donna

Wonderful exhibits - and so much to see! We'll have to allow much more time on our next visit.

Chris A

Really liked this museum Quite nice for the whole family

Janet Mu

Nice place to visit as family, as of right now theres a lot of renovations going on, its expected to be all done in june

Pat Caldwell

They have a faux IMAX theater, but is NOT a real Imax.

megan adams

This is an interesting place to take the kids for an afternoon. I strongly recommend the CTI Big Screen due to their interesting documentaries and you have to try the Planetarium at least once for the experience. Try to go when they are not doing construction on the museum/house section for a more thorough experience. It is one of my more favorite parts of the place and unfortunately I had to miss out on my last visit due to this. They have a shrunken head that I always like to go see.

Walter Jackson

Great experience for 6 kids 125 a year for a family pass

Chris Vanelli

The Science of Beer was AWESOME! One of a kind Memphis treasure. Been going here since I was a kid in grade school. You gotta see the famous Shrunken Head!

Crissy Taube

Love this place. We've seen many upgrades and there are more to come! Check out the exhibits and special events!

Wow

Matthew Bledsoe

Great museum of local history

William Tice

I love the history and exhibits

Regina Lynch

The boys had a fantastic time with the Dinasaur exhibit. We also caught the ocean film in 3D and they loved it.

ASH DIAMOND

Fun and educational for the family

Ankush Gupta

Little bit expensive for what it offers, planetarium has a quality screen but movies are too short ~25 min only. 3D theater was also kind of OK with limited 3D experience and somewhat blurry images, nice collection of artifacts if you are interested in those sort of things, I gave 2 stars only because they had a full Mammoth Skeleton and a moving Dinosaur.

Holly Harmon

My family and I are visiting from Texas and came here to learn about Memphis. The outside was beautiful... the exhibits inside were very informational and told a lot about the history. If you are new to the area, I would suggest going here as they give information about the history of Memphis. If you have children then they would enjoy the circus exhibit. Overall a very cool place to go and helped us learn about the area.

Courtney Jimenez

I love the history of the Pink Palace. The way the man who created it is honoured. The way the Memphis history is displayed.I learned about Polar Bear hair there. I liked just everything about the place. I was in a planetarium for the first time in my life. If I lived closer I would go again, and again, and again, and again. It was a wonderful glimpse into a culture I never really understood. The caring and the strength of the Memphis Society were very visible in every aspect of the Pink Palace Museum.

Holly Grimes

I really didn't think that my 3 year old would enjoy this but she and my older 2 (9 & 11) LOVED it. They had an awesome living dinosaur display. My son who hates pictures was going to every single exhibit saying, "get a picture of me". We also went into the planetarium and 3D movie here. And, again, my kids loved it

Luke The Reactor 2

I love the huge museum, bring everyone to this amazing place

Valeria Walters

An amazing museum for adults and the kids.

Raphael Will

Great place to go

Konrad Hughes

Awesome place to take the kids. Great Memphis history exhibits!

Ian Walker

Loved the planetarium and 3D theaters. The exhibits were OK , many of my friends and then including myself, felt that most of the exhibits focused way to much on Race. All the exhibits had something on how one race was oppressed by the other and to be quite honest, its completely pointless. The museum gave focus only on the role of blacks in Memphis, not giving credit for others that have accomplished things too. In the WW1 part they only pointed out the race difference in the officers. Why can't they talk about the trenches instead?

Thom Thomas

The planetarium is amazing. The gift store is a great place to by cool gifts for kids in elementary school. Lots of Memphis history and other great exhibits. Closer to Midtown than it might seem.

Chew Shannon

Attended a private event in the theater after hours to watch a movie. The facilities were neat and clean and the stadium seating was quite comfortable.

Mozes Hensley

This is the perfect place to bring high energy on a rainy day. There are so many interactive exhibits for children of all ages, ( although they cater to 10 and under ). Those who have inquisitive children will appreciate the learning opportunities. For those were younger children just let them play and be kids. Hours of operation are good: Everyday, ( excluding holidays ), from 9-5. In addition, to inside activities there are also things to interest your kids outside as well. It can be pretty crowded but strollers are allowed. There is a vending machine and you can also pack your own lunch and have a picnic outside. Admission is $15.00 but you can stay all day if you really want to be frazzled.Parking is $4.00

Amy Smith

Renovation going on Feb 2018 unable to view the mansion and some exhibits. 3d movie geared towards young audience and limited in information.

doctorxrayzulu

Multiple exhibits were being renovated - such as the toy circus display. Fossil and minerals just ok. The primary attraction of the Piggly Wiggly was marred by its tiny size and poor attention to detail. Despite the website there is no clear explanation that there is no public access to the actual mansion which seems to be a rental venue only. The main cash cow is the animated dinosaur display which is dated and unimaginative. However the historic artifacts of early and civil war period were adequate. There are many other attractions and museums throughout Memphis far better curated and maintained. Go elsewhere. With the screaming and running children there is a playground feeling. Vast areas of the museum are closed off for "renovation" supposedly. This museum also has a planetarium and IMAX which if that is what you want, pay for that. There are two Smithsonian affiliated museums in town the like the Civil Rights and Rock and Soul that are far better deserving of your tourist dollar(metal and weapons screening). Locals I asked told me the museum is in financial distress and did not have anything positive to say. Recommendation: call ahead to find out what is actually on exhibit and what is not.

bertrina shorter

Took my family and nieces there and we plan to go again for a family outing very educational

laura hunt

Pink Palace is a two story museum with a planetarium, 3D theater, and lots of exhibits. The planetarium was neat and informational. Adults and children both enjoyed it. The 3D movie about the ocean which held your attention. The sea was beautiful. It is worth a visit.

Kristina Grubbs

This is always been a great place to go. The ilex it's definitely a really cool experience especially as a kid and continues on as an adult. I like that they play The Polar Express and other Christmas themed things at Christmas time. You wouldn't think saying something on a big big screen would make much of a difference but it really does. My favorite is the original Piggly Wiggly store replica. It was a nice try continuing on the Enchanted Forest but quite honestly it was a disappointment this year. If they would just cut out the scavenger hunt allowing let's kids to run around and be loud and just Braddy it might have been a little better experience. The Festival of trees is always cool to see. Wasn't as good this year but it changes every year it wasn't bad though it's hard to mess up Christmas lights and decorating trees everyone is creative and different

Cathy Hale

Good place to check out if your in the area!

Ruben Ramirez

If you want a place to come and learn about Memphis area history this is a nice place to be.

Andrew Fuschi

This place needed an update 20 years ago.

Zaynab Ahmed

It’s a really great for families! Also field trips as well!

Peter Lamb

Extremely educational, engaging and fascinating. And features evolution prominently. In your face, dumb ass creationists!

Charissa Woods

We took my 4 yr old grandsons to the exhibits, imax and planetarium, they loved the dinosaurs, were scared of the imax and the planetarium was the most boring thing I’ve ever watched!! We had 25 minutes to kill before imax show so we ordered nachos at the lil restaurant inside and We were the only ones there, 25 minutes later still no nachos so we had to leave without getting our food so we could make it to the show!!! Nachos are just chips, cheese and jalapeños so that was ridiculous!! Was expecting a lot more!! A I’ll disappointed!!

Amelia

✨Interesting collection of artifacts and fun giftshop! Most natural history specimens have little information accompanying them, and many exhibits were closed for renovation.

Kelly Rayburn

A variety of areas to see, something for everybody. Too much to see in one trip.

Michael Dillingham

1971 and there was a shrunken head.

Eric Dinkins

My wife disliked this place. I thought it was okay. We went during the anniversary of the Piggly Wiggly so they had a store replica of the first one ever. The set up is supposed to take you on a trip through history, but the museum doesn't really tell you where to start. Ticket prices were fair to what was offered. For adults, it was $12.75.

Thad Beckman

A lot of historical information here, presented in a way that I believe makes learning fun for all. Went in with my daughter today and we had a great time. She needed to do a review on one gallery and one museum and we both enjoyed the trip. Will definitely be back for another visit soon.

Emi Bargery

Pink Palace staff is always very friendly and helpful. I've loved the exhibits ever since I was a little kid!

Mark Smith

I was there just to pick up some of the solar eclipse sunglasses. The line was long, but moved fairly fast. The only place in Memphis, TN I could find that had them.

underoos

The Pink Palace is a fun and educational place. There are exhibits that go for a few months and then switch out, but they are always unique. I have to admit though, most of them consist of dinosaurs or relate to them.

Ban anaz

Really good selection of things to see and learn. The planetarium show is really cool. Good price for whats all included too.

Nia Lia

The children love this place. However, younger kids may be intimidated and frightened by the giant replica prehistoric creatures and roaring moving dinosaurs.

Michael Nicosia

During the summer, military and their families get in free. Lots of cool stuff about Memphis and there are dinosaurs!

Karen Castro

Nice gift shop

EE Castleman

Great exhibits. Interesting IMAX movies. Nice small restaurant. Fascinating gift shop.

TANIA PROFFITT

Lights were out didn't get to go in the gate

Ravi B.

Awesome! Tickets are worth the price. This museum is one of the best places to visit in Memphis, besides Graceland. The museum is decent sized and has many interesting exhibits. You can learn lots of science and history from this museum. The Piggly Wiggly inside the museum is the best part. Highly recommend you go here it you are visiting Memphis.

Vincent Cheirs

Love it my wife work there my lil girl love it also

Trevor Blewett

Fascinating place to spark interest and wonder in young and adults. The planetarium is truly fantastic.

Jon Rittenhouse

Today was a lot of fun. The whole family enjoyed our time walking through the musium and eating at the musium eatery. Also spent time going through the shops. Didn't get a chance to see a movie at the 3D theatre but I hear it's great too. We will go next time for sure.

Jim Brown

This is a really nice and fun place!!! I love coming here every time I visit family in Memphis! There is even a REAL SHRUNKIN HEAD!!! It’s sooo cool!!!!! Definitely a good place to take your kids. Very educational! They will have lots of fun while learning all about many things!!!

Sy Guzman

Worth a visit! Exhibits display everything from crystals & minerals to taxidermy and local history. There's also a large cinema where you can watch educational films. Check with the front desk (or website) for film times & prices. Even the gardens at the Pink Palace are beautiful! When I last visited, there was a professional photographer taking pictures of a young lady in her quinceñera gown. If you are having a formal event, Pink Palace would be a really nice backdrop for your photos!

Jessica Robinson

Just as I remembered & there were some new items. Great place

Iam Second

We go once a year during the summer and this year my 3 kids and I could only spend 1 hour in the Museum and that was pushing it because there just isn’t a lot of engaging exhibits. It’s in desperate need of some updates. Best part was the gift shop!

John R

I've been here on a number of field trips and I always had a lot of fun! It's very educational and informative!

Hayley Clark

This place is a lot of fun. They have a wide variety of exhibits to explore. Give yourself at least an hour and half if not 2 hours to get thru all of the exhibits. So much of the displays are something I've never seen before, very informative and educational. After the exhibits we went to the planetarium to watch "We are Aliens". Wow it was so cool, you can get a little dizzy, but it was very awesome to watch and the man running the video was very knowledgeable and funny. He even took extra time to show us some constellations of the current nights sky. The whole experience was very fun and would go back!

Katelyn Briley

I love the gift shop and the IMAX

Mary Jane

Very exciting, it really took me back in time
