When my mother took ill suddenly and died, we had no idea where to turn. Utah Valley Mortuary came to our rescue with compassion, kindness, and professionalism. Though I live in Salt Lake City and my mother died in Gunnison, Matt and his son drove to Gunnison from Utah county over the 24th of July weekend to collect her remains and arrange for cremation. He was upfront about costs and guided us gently through the difficult decision making process. Though Utah Valley Mortuary was the least expensive alternative we found, the level of service Matt and his staff offered was outstanding. We could not have asked for more. Bless you, Matt.

My family was blown away by how amazing this mortuary was. My sister passed away last month and they did such an incredible job of taking care of everything. The mortuary itself is such a beautiful, clean, pleasant environment to be in. The staff was very friendly and sensitive. We were especially impressed with how they prepared my sister's body for the viewing to look just like her. She truly looked so good. It was almost as if she were sleeping. The man who does the work is truly a master artist at what he does. The mortuary also went above and beyond in setting up the viewing with extra things like water bottles, chocolates, tissues and many other things that I wasn't expecting that just made us feel pampered and well cared for. Overall, it was such a positive experience working with them and we are so grateful for everything did to honor our sister and take care of our family.

Matt and everybody at this funeral home were amazing when my mother passed on. Matt met with us and asked appropriate questions, worked out details, then handled details we didn't even consider. They were professional, thoughtful, personable, and respectful. Matt even offered to pick up roses from Costco for us when he heard we were going to get some. We declined but that's how seriously he takes helping the family during a difficult time. Highly recommend.

Utah Valley Mortuary was amazing!!! They were so kind, helpful, compassionate and sensitive. They went the extra mile on every imaginable thing; including staying with the casket until it was completely buried, pressing my husband's clothes (even though it was a closed casket), making photocopies of the death certificate, letting me know of the different ways children grieve and different grief counseling programs available in the county. They were a big service and it was a huge bonus that they were significantly less expensive than the other mortuaries I called. They didn't try to sell me something that I didn't need. They were completely honest. I can't say enough good things about Matt and his staff. I would recommend Utah Valley Mortuary to anyone!!

UVM was incredibly compassionate from the first phone call. They were there to meet every need and even could foresee them before we did. Each and every person there seemed to know us and our story. They cared and showed it in EVERY step of the way. Many things happened in our mourning journey that could have been much more painful had we not been being taken care of by such an amazing staff of sincere, genuine, loving people. Having seen the service other mortuaries offered and then attending one serviced by UVM, we found that choosing a mortuary just because they are a household name isn't the way to go about finding someone to care for your loved one. We were so grateful to have chosen UVM and would go to them again, for sure.

We were so pleased to have had the caring professional services of Steven Furner who was so patient in helping us understand the details of this process and with making the necessary decisions and arrangements. We appreciated the great respect shown our mother from the time she was taken into their care until she was laid to rest in Vernal, Utah. Every detail was well attended to. We appreciated special kindnesses performed such as honoring her last request to be wrapped in a beloved blanket in her casket. Special attention was given to have her looking her best! We appreciated an unexpected kindness which was the recording of our service on a CD with the option to make additional copies which we did, to share to share with family members unable to be with us. From the first moment I walked in, I felt warm and welcomed. I went in, just in case I would need to use their services for my unborn daughter (preexisting condition). No matter the case, Matt was very kind and took the time to explain how everything would go if that day were to come. 3 days later we made the call that we would in fact need their services. I called Matt to tell him my daughter was ready and to work out some minor details then hung up the phone; I had forgotten to go over something so I called back not even 5 minutes later and he had already left to the hospital To pick up my sweet girl (nearly an hour and 20 minute drive on a good day). Then he called me the moment he arrived back, reassuring me that she was safe and would be cared for. The day of the funeral was perfect. They made sure she looked her very best. They had thought of every detail. That day, although heartbreaking, was more beautiful than I could have ever imagined, all because of everyone at Utah Valley Mortuary. I would highly recommend them to anyone because of their professionalism, the comfort and genuine care they provide, the efficacy of which they work, and the reassurance that your loved one’s final day will be the most precious day possible. A must during the hardest time in a family’s life. Thank you all so much, especially Matt for making my princess’s day as magical and beautiful as you possibly could. I am in charge of the luncheons after a funeral in my church. I have participated in 20+ funerals. This week was my first interaction with Utah Valley Mortuary and I was so impressed. They put all the chairs and items back into the room where the viewing was held. They even emptied the trash in the rooms they used. Other previous funerals myself and my lady helpers have done this, even while the mortuary men sat and watched us without lifting a hand to help. Even though I was not family of the deceased, they were so kind and friendly. I could feel their genuine care.--- I was very impressed!

They even did extra things that made our memorial of her extra special. I have helped with many funerals over the years and seen several of the local funeral homes provide service during such a tender time. They all have done a good job. But yesterday I attended the funeral for an extended family member done by Utah Valley Mortuary. Their attention to every detail was remarkable! The Relief Society room was transformed (they provided curtains to cover chalkboards, tablecloths for displays, individual packets of tissues, water bottles, even mini treats.) As a woman and Relief Society president, that was all impressive. But what really touched me was seeing how the director Matt Davis dealt with the young sons of the father that passed. He was so thoughtful and made sure they helped, understood, and were comfortable with such a tragic loss. Everything was done with such care! Of all the funeral homes I have worked with, I haven't seen any funeral handled better! I would highly recommend Utah Valley Mortuary.
