Mom’s viewing and service were both held at the mortuary, a very beautiful and inspiring location. The staff arranged for the catering of our family dinner, also held at the mortuary. The food and service were superb! Truly, this was a lovely experience for our family, as we laid our dear mom to rest.

We were absolutely blown away with the quality of service rendered by Nelson Family Mortuary. My father passed away and his body transferred to Puerto Rico. He served in the ARMY for 22 years. We were pretty disappointed with a number of things with Nelson Mortuary for our Grandmother’s service. Usually I wouldn’t post a review on here even if disappointed but there were so many things that were frustrating. First of all, our family purchased two flower arrangements for the funeral through Nelson Mortuary and were extremely disappointed in the size of the arrangements when delivered. We bought $100/each arrangements and they looked like they should never have cost more than $20. They were so small, we were embarrassed that they were from us... on top of spending way more than they were worth. Next, the setup of the viewing room was complete chaos. There was no rhyme or reason to how the chairs were set up and no flow for people to view her. Our Grandmother’s hair looked disheveled and she was one that always looked very nice and put together so it was not to her standard. Then the mortuary employees that were at the service, who were moving the flowers down to the chapel after the viewing, were quite rude as they pushed past people in the doorway and acted annoyed instead of warning people they would be coming through or kindly excusing themselves. Then after the family prayer when it was time to close the casket, the two mortuary employees couldn’t get it closed and after fidgeting with it for a second, they quickly slid the flower arrangement over the crack to conceal it instead of actually closing it. Then last of all (and the most disappointing) we just barely found out that the recorder used by the mortuary to record the service (so that we could all have copies of it bound and audio) apparently “malfunctioned” and did not record half the service. I would think it would be wise to use at least two recorders in case one malfunctioned so that families don’t end up disappointed and sad that they don’t have a copy of their loved one’s service like we feel. Like I said, usually I would just let these things slide individually, but it was just one thing after another after another. The funeral overall was very nice but that was because of the speakers and musical numbers. Not very impressed with the mortuary and hope they will take these comments into consideration and do better for others in the future.

I can't say enough good things about this place. I've already told everybody I know how big of a blessing it was to find Lance. We were made to feel comfertable. I don't deal with death well and this was my first time having to plan and help with one. Lance was soo patient I think I called him twenty times with questions and he was so patient. He helped us feel more at peace. He didn't refer to my mom as a corpse or the body like some mortuary that I had called. He referred to her by name. That meant allot to me and my family. The funeral turned out beautiful and they were so helpful. Just amazing.

The building itself is so beautiful with a view of the majestic mountains and was a perfect setting for us to have our very large family gather with our friends to say our final goodbye to our dear beloved Father.I loved the windows in the large gathering room that brought in light including a fantastic view. I never realized how much you have to plan and take care of in just 1 week. No one wants to plan a funeral and it's never easy but Nelson family mortuary was so organized it made the planning process a lot easier so we could be together as a family and not have to stress as much about my fathers funeral arrangements. From the moment we walked in the mortuary it was so serene. I immediately felt comfortable and well taken care of. The building itself is gorgeous and to have mount Timpanogos as a back drop makes it perfect. They were very respectful and never made us feel pressured with making decisions but only guided us and made sure things were how we wanted or how my father would have wanted them. I was beyond impressed with the viewing which was held at our local church just before the funeral service. They had provided drinks for the family (which I very much needed) and mints for visitors. These are small touches that make a big difference. I am so grateful for Nelson Family Mortuary. Thank you for all you did for my father and our family!

Lance was so kind and calm and really helped alleviate many of our stresses within a very stressful week. They offered so many services there from flowers to invitations, so we were able to finalize everything we needed in one place. We especially loved the huge windows and mountain view, the big projector screens for our slideshow, and the beautiful white grand piano. The funeral facility is beautiful, clean, inviting, and all of our guests enjoyed the atmosphere. One of our friends wrote, "That was the best funeral I have ever attended." The view of Mount Timpanogos is great. The facility is large enough to accommodate our family band. The mortuary staff added little touches to the service and program that were creative and appreciated. Our son referred to himself as King Richad, and he loved school buses. On the back of the program they added a picture of a school bus going down a highway with the cation "Farewell for now, King Richard.". For the casket vault we we requested school bus yellow. Not only was the vault yellow, it was painted in the likeness of a school bus, with a license plate reading, "Richard J. Lee, bus driver." We are grateful for the personal touches during this difficult time.

When my father passed away, it was completely unexpected and my family and I were completely unprepared. To make matters worse, my father passed away out of state, and so the task of coordinating his transport home in addition to everything else seemed incredibly overwhelming. Despite my anxiety and complete lack of preparation, Nelson Family Mortuary was able to manage everything, including coordination with a local mortuary in Hawaii for the transport home of my father. This having been my first-time handling this sort of affair, the Nelson Family Mortuary made it incredibly simple, and allowed for my family and I to focus on what was most important at the time: FAMILY! I'll be forever grateful for the generosity of this wonderful mortuary. We used the Mortuary for my father's viewing, and the space was simply beautiful. We didn't end up using the facility for the actual funeral service, but in hindsight, I really wish we had!

Within the Hour the Nelson Family Mortuary led the charge. They were there when we needed it the most. The process was great, they sat us down and spoke with us with gentleness. They guided our every step letting us make all the decisions and could answer all our questions. Their building is beautiful. The lobby area is wonderful as your loved ones, friends and others come to the viewing. The area inside gives space for everyone to gather and mingle. The music is calming and soothing as you all mourn the loss of your loved one and friend. They presented a video where we could upload pictures / videos and memories of our loved one. I will always be grateful for all of those at the Nelson Family Mortuary for everything they did for us.

From the moment you walk in, the experience is one of quiet contemplation coupled with a spirit of peace and reverence. It was reflected in the respect given to our father. Nelson Mortuary's state-of-the-art technology allowed us to easily videobroadcast the entire service live via an internet link to everyone who wished to attend. It meant so much to them that they could participate, even though they were scattered around the world. I have conducted dozens of funerals; this was by far the best experience, thanks to the thoughtfulness in design of the facility and execution of the services. And Nelson accepted the pre-paid plan that had been set up for a different mortuary. I can't say enough good about our experience. Our plan is to return whenever there is a need. At the passing of my father we were going to go with another mortuary in Orem. A dear friend of ours, Christy Kirkland, mentioned Nelson Family Mortuary the new mortuary down at the base of Orem Center Street and University. I immediately thought... of course, I must check them out. The old time mortuary place in town we had chosen just looked like an 1890s parlor... heavy drapes, dated carpets, heavy wood and very dark inside. Upon entering Nelson Family Mortuary it was obvious to us, this was the mortuary who we wanted to take us through a somewhat emotional and difficult time. Both personnel and the facility were far superior. It was very light and modern, the view of Timpangos was breathtaking. Owner Lance Nelson made the the process less overwhelming and very doable. He is a total Class Act. To help anyone reading this review to understand how much we were impressed by Nelson Family Mortuary, we actually had allowed the first mortuary to pick up my father and start the process and had Nelson Family Mortuary pick up my father. No way most people would do that after the process has been started but we were that impressed. Everyone in our family agreed that was the best decision we made. We had the viewing at Nelson Family Mortuary on a Thursday night, the funeral at our church on Friday and then we traveled 120 miles south to have a grave side service with military honors on Saturday. Owner Lance Nelson and his company handled everything. We were so proud and pleased how everything turned out. Thank you Lance for your amazingly caring attitude and attention to every detail.
