During the loss of my grandmother the staff at the funeral home were so kind and made sure we were okay through the entire process. They checked on our family a few weeks after the funeral. I would like to thank the entire staff for everything they did for me and my family. God has the staff guide families through a difficult time and I am thankful they were there for us. I appreciate each one of you! Thank you.

Brad and his team gave me and my wife the best possible service we could have asked for during a tragic time in our lives. We suffered a miscarriage and had to quickly plan for the funeral arrangements of my son. They were very supportive through the whole process. They helped me find a cemetery plot, provided great counseling there, and recommended us to an extended network of support. They also went above our expectations for assistance with the cost. They truly care about the people they are serving.

Lane Funeral Home, Ashland Terrace (R J. Coulter Funeral Home) has been serving families in the greater Chattanooga area during their worst days for soon to be 58 years. I have been a part of that history for nearly 46 years and am thankful for lasting friendships forged through tears and laughter.

Disorganized, most unfriendly office staff in town, takes forever to get death certificates, Go anywhere else in Chattanooga!

I was in the unfortunate but illuminating position of having to arrange for the funeral and burial of two parents in three years. My stepfather passed away in Memphis in 2016, and I traveled there from Chattanooga to oversee the arrangements for my grieving mom. My experience with the large funeral home she’d selected—one that’s owned (fyi) by the same corporation that owns one of the largest funeral homes here in Chattanooga—felt entirely transactional, and that’s putting it mildly. After the funeral home director’s not-very-genuine-seeming condolences, he got right down to business: passing out catalogs (for lack of a better word) of the various “packages” we could buy to give my stepfather the dignified funeral he deserved. Typical of dads everywhere, he’d instructed us to bury him “in a pine box,” which we obviously weren’t going to do. But we did want to abide by his wishes and not waste Mom’s money on unnecessary flourishes. It made sense to me to buy only what we wanted, but I was told that everything would be way more expensive à la carte (I did the math—it was). Choosing a “package” involved a ton of upselling, and it felt a lot like the funeral home version of choosing school pictures for my kids. Did we want coffee cups with my stepdad’s face on them? Christmas ornaments? Notepaper? Bookmarks? A paperweight? Anyway, we got through it. It took hours, and the total cost was even more than I thought it would be (and I was trying to add things up in my head as we went along). I’m sure the funeral home director was there for the visitation and service, since they were both in the funeral home, but I don’t remember seeing him. So, when my mom died here in Chattanooga few weeks ago, all I knew was what funeral home I didn’t want to use. But as her funeral and burial would be in Memphis, I wasn’t sure what my options were. Someone recommended I try Lane Funeral Home, on Ashland Terrace. Thank goodness. If planning the funeral and burial of your mom can be described as a good experience, this was a good experience. I called David Keller and told him what my sister and I wanted, and he was as open and matter-of-fact as he could be. Could he give me a ballpark price over the phone? Sure. Could he work with the cemetery in Memphis, where Mom had a plot? Of course. Should we contract with a second funeral home in Memphis, to handle things at that end? Absolutely not—no need to incur the expense. He’d drive Mom’s body there and handle things on that end himself. The in-person meeting—David, my sister and me—was just as easy. No upselling. No catalogs. We talked logistics, we looked at caskets and picked one out, we gave him the obit we’d written (the one thing he asked me to do ahead of time), he gave us some nuts and bolts info about death certificates and social security and buying a monument, I wrote him a check, he gave me his cell number, and we left. When we got to the graveside service in Memphis, David was already there, dressed in a suit, orchestrating everything in the 100-degree heat. He had a cooler full of water, which everyone appreciated. He took care of everything behind the scenes, accepted our invitation to come to a reception at my uncle’s house, and then drove back to Chattanooga. Death is hard, and dealing with a funeral and burial when your heart is broken is the worst. David Keller and Lane Funeral Home made a dark time as easy on me as possible. I know Mom’s happy about that.

This funeral home was the best choice when we needed someone to take care of our loved one. David keller was so professional and knew exactly what to say and provide for our services. We have never been to a Funeral home where we felt so welcomed and was like family as soon as we were greeted. The arrangements went so quickly and compassionate and very affordable. David Keller and his staff we GREATLY appreciate everything you all did and really went over the top. The facility was beautiful and didn't feel like I was at a 1980 funeral home where alot of the other funeral homes aren't up to date. This will be our last destination for any of my relatives when it's their last day on Earth. May God be with this staff at Lane Funeral Home and keep thier passion alive and keep bringing comfort to the families they serve.

Being a local minster I have had the privilege of being apart of many funeral services in many different facilities around the Chattanooga and North Georgia area. All have there strong points but I was amazed at how compassionate and caring all the staff was at Lane , they Truly came along side me and my family during a very emotional and difficult time. The attention to detail was very refreshing, very accommodating! It took all the burden away from my parents and Sister and allowed us to mourn and take care of one another. I would have no problem recommending Lane to anyone that needs the services they provide.

We have used Lane's Funeral services in the past for other family members but I was never involved in the planning. When my husband passed recently, we wanted a somewhat unconventional memorial service. David Keller and Monica were very caring and accommodating. Everything was perfect! The cost was also much much lower than I would have ever thought. Thank you Lane Funeral Home and staff for making our service so special.

Our family recently lost our Mother and this funeral home was wonderful. Our Funeral Director Monica Adkins was great and did everything we wanted and went above and beyond what we expected. During our time of grief it was like she became part of our family. She was always checking if everything was done the way we wanted. The other staff were very friendly and supportive also. Would I use this funeral home again? Definitely!

I was reported dead instead of my mom. While everyone was very nice of course, there was a huge mistake made. My mom passed nov 24, 2017. However, my social security number was sent in reporting me, her daughter, deceased. This mistake was discovered by the funeral home and a new form was sent in the next day declaring my mom deceased. Incredulously that form had two places for her social security number and mine was still on there as well as hers. The social security office got it right though and my mom was correctly reported deceased. I was not told about this error. Four months later I was denied a credit card. Then two days after I was denied that card an apartment complex I applied to rent an apartment from alerted me that my number was reporting me dead. After a lot of calls and backtracking I found out where and how I had been reported deceased and was able to get the social security office to list me among the living again so I thought things were ok. Lane funeral home said it was the first time this mistake had ever been made and that the social security office should have called me about all of it. I don't think they make phone calls to dead people to see if they are dead. But things were supposedly fixed. Then last week I applied for a credit card at a company I had had a credit card with several years ago. They said no and I was told they had me listed as dead. So now I'm still dealing with this again. The social security office did not tell me to notify everyone that might have thought I was dead and now I have to get a letter from them to fax to past and future creditors apparently. So this nightmare continues 7 months later. Also the program had moms date of death incorrect and then the corrected program listed the wrong preacher. Numbers are a funeral homes business. Numbers are huge. We knew mom was going to pass , she had cancer. All arrangements were made and paid in full in advance. There was no last minute scrambling to make lots of decisions. All they had to do paperwork wise was the reporting of her social security number to get the death certificate and print out programs. I do understand mistakes get made but this is ridiculous. Not informing me of the mistake the minute they realized it and helping me in making sure it was corrected on the social security office end of things is inexcusable.

this was by far the strangest funeral home I've ever been to. It smelled like a cheap nursing home.

My family has always used Lane Funeral Home. My Mom passed two years ago February 13, 2019. The staff at Lane became a part of my family and after so I retiring I became a part of their family working with the staff daily. I cannot think of a more rewarding ministry for myself as I do helping the families through the most difficult times. We as a family at Lane truly work from the Heart

I have been managing the most compassionate team I have ever worked with in 30 years since September. Prior to my arrival, there have been a myriad of problems that have been addressed. The facility has been remodeled and a baby grand piano has been added. Too, after doing a Cost comparison, this was surprisingly the most compassionately priced traditional funeral home in the area. I have to say that I am definitely serving my community as I have always wanted. With purpose, dignity and compassion. I stand behind every work I have uttered and beg of you to allow us to serve you...we will not let you down.
