Facing a loss is one of the hardest things a family can go through. Whether is it is anticipated or tragically unexpected, there are few things that life can throw at someone that are so jilting. DJ has a way of making this experience - while by no means pleasant - as not-awful as possible. He has an incredible amount of empathy, combined with uncanny anticipation and pride in his work that amounts to a process that is, and perhaps this is the best word possible for this situation, manageable. I can't praise DJ and the Wright Ford Funeral Home higher for what they helped me and my family go through recently. He took care of things that we couldn't have anticipated might need taking care of, and he allowed us to go through our grief process almost unhindered by the difficult practical aspects associated with death. Though these circumstances were unfortunate, we have all reflected back on the degree of love and care that DJ gave to us. This was a terribly tragic time, but it was improved infinitely by DJ and his staff, who embraced us as their own family, and helped us through this time.

DJ and his staff go above and beyond! From the 1st phone call you need to make to after your loved ones service is over, you are treated like family. DJ takes his time in talking with the family and he gets to know your loved one.The service is so dedicated to your loved one. DJ said to our family... your going to walk in on the day of your brothers service sad, but you’ll leave with a smile. We certainly did leave with a smile. My father Gene De Cleene passed away in May 2018 after battling cancer for years. The day he passed away, I had placed a call to DJ asking him if his funeral home would handle my father’s service. I called DJ specifically because he and his staff oversaw two other funeral services I had attended. I was very impressed with their attention to detail, but specifically the way DJ spoke about the person who had passed. He wanted you to know all about how they lived their lives, who their family members were and shared personal stories so that you could remember the person that passed in the best possible way. You always left feeling better than when you arrived. In my case DJ stayed in constant communication with me in the days following, making sure I was doing well, asking if there was anything else he could do, being a friend (even though we had just met). DJ thought of and handled everything for me and prepared the funeral service as if my father was a celebrity! He helped arrange a parade before his funeral services in Clinton and did my father’s legacy proud! DJ’s personal service and unwavering passion for his business is exceptional and I will always remember all that he did for me in my time of need.

With two 30 minute phone conversations and a short face-to-face meeting, DJ was able to deliver a beautiful life celebration and cremation service for my dad. DJ's guidance in the process was invaluable; the attention to detail, from making sure I had all the required paperwork to hand-carry my dad's ashes on international flights to another country to the recommended color of flowers, was instrumental to making the event much less stressful. When DJ learned we have families all over the world who could not attend the funeral, he provided us with a video of the services so that everyone near and far can participate - and this at no extra cost. When I was choosing a home, I noticed many positive 5-star reviews mentioning DJ by name and grew wary they were fake reviews - how can that many people be compelled to write such great reviews specifically about some guy? I can now assure anyone reading that there is nothing fake about them. DJ is not only a wonderful funeral director with a beautiful facility, but also an absolutely outstanding human being. I have never seen someone (in any field) display such an unyielding level of compassion, caring, and respect for both the living and deceased. Everyone who has dealt with death knows how intensely trying and difficult this process is to go through. Walking through the doors of a funeral home is the first step of many crazy emotional days following losing someone. DJ made the entire process way more bearable then i ever could have imagined. He mentors, councils, cares, and treats you like family. Also how he connects people that may not have known eachother before through the grief we all share is something i am truly thankful for. He helps you feel like you’re not alone in the overwhelming sadness you felt in the beginning. My husband of near 44 yrs passed on April 23, 2018 having lived with metastatic kidney cancer treatment for 13yrs. About 2 weeks earlier our son and I met with DJ to prepare. Jerry was now under the care of Hunterdon Hospice. My first visit to this funeral home was in 1961 when my grandmother’s services were held here, followed by many more friends and family over the years. This was my first return visit since this facility became Wright & Ford and major renovations had been made to the interior. I immediately embraced the changes, beginning with being greeted at the door by DJ and support dogs Nalani & Tammy. “The girls” helped reduce our anxiety as we went on to an unhurried conversation making the many decisions regarding Jerry’s Life Celebration when the time presented. Preplanning, even if it was only 2 weeks in advance was a blessing for us. To have already established a rapport with DJ when he arrived at our home to take over the care of Jerry was comforting. The attentive compassion and respect DJ & James provided that day is one of the many images that will forever be in my memory. These men took the time to make up the hospital bed and arrange the room to a more normal. A personal touch I would not have anticipated which helped ease our pain. The obituary created by DJ, is a demonstration of DJ's listening skills, attention to detail and the ability to summarize what we talked about at our first meeting into a wonderful representation of Jerry & his life. It has taken me time to submit a review as I would prefer to list every detail that was wonderful, as well as unexpected or just plain perfect! Starting with our first meeting with DJ, to creating a Life Celebration that Jerry so deserved, to the closing of his casket there is too much enumerate. Recently my husband of 33 years passed away due to a stroke, a friend recommended DJ at Ford-Wright Funeral Home. How a person can be ultra professional AND warm and caring like an old friend is beyond my realm of understanding. DJ Wright is the embodiment of this type of special individual. Walking in the front door being greeted by calming therapy dogs and a bright home with no odors I have been accustomed to & dreading when entering a funeral home, it all ready felt like the right place to house my husband. DJ invited myself, my dear friend and my three sons into a room & wanted to know everything possible about my Tom. He asked leading questions that allowed all of us seated at the table to come up with memories, moments and events in Tom's life that we would have never thought of otherwise. He told us how he placed a flag over Tom as he was placed in the car from the hospital because he had all ready asked if he was a Veteran. Taking all the information from us took 3 1/2 hours and in the end we were rewarded with an amazing Celebration of my husbands life. We had a video of about 125 photos playing continuously with many of Tom's favorite songs, books, mementos & album covers set around the room. The Air Force performed Taps and folded the flag and The Vietnam Veterans performed their ceremony. There were posters, cards, and even drink coasters with Tom's smiling face on all of these. Tom was everywhere because it WAS all about my beloved husband. DJ arranged ALL of this. The dogs (on leashes with their handlers) were around to offer comfort for those that get contentment from them. His staff was helpful and right where they were needed, at the door, parking cars & assisting in any way possible. Ford-Wright Funeral Home is the professional, caring place that respects the grieved & the grieving with the utmost attention to every detail to make a dreadful time into an event to be remembered fondly. I had many, many people tell me what a wonderful experience the service was. Who says that about a memorial service?? DJ Wright, thank you from my heart for honoring Tom with your special touch. I will be forever grateful.

You are a top notch, caring, consoling, empathetic Funeral Director, not to mention, your funeral home is immaculate, beautiful, and has a warm comfortable feeling. You had plenty of staff available to assist the visitors, and they were all so very polite and welcoming. Everything you did for us was exceptional...the tapestry, the family tree leaf pins, the laminated funeral cards, your fair prices, and I'm sure I could keep going! Oh and Tammy our "therapy dog!" As some families may experience differences of opinions during these difficult times, you had a delicate way to mediate and redirect the conversation to remind us to be caring and respectful toward each other. Losing the dearest of family members can be a devasting surreal experience, as such it was to loose my brother, this past July. Words can not describe or pay justice to DJ Wright and his team of angels that took my family’s hand and heart and led us through our celebration of his life, but I’d like to try! After a very long and arduous battle with MS, my wish was to honor my brother as the man he was to so many before the disease took over him and our family. DJ not only deeply heard and understood that, he took every moment of the service before,during and after, making sure my brothers light shined brightly through! He and his family of staff anticipated every need as they gently but lovingly guided us to the celebration of life. I wanted to thank DJ and his staff at Wright & Ford Family Funeral Home for helping my 96 year old mother in law pre-plan her funeral! She lives here in New Jersey with us and yes, she is 96! She has great comfort knowing that DJ has made all the arrangements for her to be taken back to Illinois where she will be laid to rest next to her husband of over 50 years. DJ and the staff made it so easy to communicate with the funeral home in Illinois, even going so far as to pre-write the obituary so she could review it.
