After checking through various websites and making many phone calls, on my way home I decided to stop by McCracken Funeral Home and I am forever grateful to have made this stop. I guess I had to experience the worst upfront to truly appreciate the first class service I received from Jennifer (The funeral director) from the initial greeting until the very last moment spent there, I felt truly appreciated, understood and the care and compassion that I felt with Jennifer was heartfelt. Unfortunately, in my line of work, I witnessed a handful of deaths and without a doubt Jennifer is the one and only referral that I will be submitting. A million thanks for making the process as trouble free and pain free as Jennifer made it. Thank you, A.M.Ramos and Family

My mother passed away on Saturday morning in Maryland. McCracken's handled both of my Grandparents as well as my fathers services without a problem. When I inquired about the logistics of who and where my mom would be taken from the hospital I was told "We have an affiliate in Maryland and also have a STORAGE facility outside of Baltimore. My MOM is not a piece of meat or clothing or furniture that should go "IN STORAGE". SHE IS OUR MOM. I stewed on the conversation for 5 minutes and then called McCracken back and told them never mind. Poor Bill McCracken the founder of McCracken's is not resting easy in his grave today. Shop Local, Shop the Independents.... and I suggest you find somewhere else for your loved one. Thank you Jennifer of Bradley Funeral Homes for your assistance during these difficult times. You have been a delight to work with.

Be careful of this funeral home. Did not advise family that there was no need for embalming even when it was asked, I'm sure it was so they could make more money since they clearly knew all siblings had money to pay. It would have given more peace of mind if knowing that the invasion of the embalming process was not needed. I asked fully knowing it could be done since no one wanted to sign papers and I was blown off. Also even though all siblings were equally part of decisions this funeral home played favorites, even to not notifying out of towner son that priest was coming to the early viewing at 2, rather than 7pm. I am sure it is hard to figure out how to appease everyone, but rather than go on here about other sneaky issues on caskets, cards, etc... this funeral home clearly saw money as their prime goal so don't fool yourself that they really cared about the family, only to what they thought would bring in the most money not the credentials of people involved.

Planning / preparing my sweet husband's funeral was a bit scary. I had no idea what to expect. However, when I met w/ Matthew all my fears were gone. He is genuinely caring, compassionate. He walked me through the process step by step and answered not only my questions, but that of my husband's siblings. They also thought extremely highly of him. I am most grateful that we chose McCracken Funeral Home and more specifically that Matthew will be taking care of us.

It is a very homey funeral home. Staff was on hand to add additional chairs as needed, but I noticed a lack of sympathy and a bit of roughness when announcement to go retrieve your car was being made. It felt like people were being pushed out. No instructions were given as to how to follow the funeral procession. Some of us made it to the cemetery, but could not find the grave site. When we approached a group of people at a grave site, we quickly find out it was not the same funeral we were in. We just had to leave. There was no worker on hand to guide us which way to go. Remember, people do come from all over the world to come to a funeral, for some it is their first experience in the country, for others, their first in your state. Please, be mindful of that in the future.
