REVIEWS OF Westlawn-Hillcrest Funeral Home IN Nebraska

Services for my mother at the funeral home were thoughtful and the staff is very helpful but, I could not believe how much they charged me to carry her from the funeral home to her resting place up the hill on THEIR property. I thought that should have been a courtesy. Especially when I was charged to get her from the hospital to the funeral home. They are really extra charge happy. And ALL of my family is laid to rest there!

Everyone who helped us out at West Lawn-Hillcrest were absolutely Terrific. Each person demonstrated sincere care and compassion in helping us deal with the emotionally difficult and challenging situation of laying our dear mother to rest. We can't thank you all enough. All the best to everyone involved. Dan Lavitt

During a very difficult time of losing my grandfather, Doug and the rest of the staff were patient, kind and supportive in all the decisions and arrangements made for the funeral.

I called today about our recent plot purchase and asked for Robert Marshall as he is the gentleman who handled my mom, dad and sisters internments. I got to know Robert over the phone and then in person and so appreciated what he did for my parents and sister so we decided to purchase a plot at Westlawn. When I asked for Robert I was told he was out of the office. When I asked when he would be back I was told he was at a different location. When I said I didn’t know that there was different location of Westlawn I was finally told that Robert didn’t work at Westlawn at all! I asked what had happened and was told that he decided to leave. Needless to say, I was very surprised and concerned as Robert was part of the reason we chose Westlawn Hillcrest for our final resting place. Can someone please let us know how your business could lose someone as capable, caring and professional as Robert ?

Horrible horrible Boyd Brammer has no business begin a Funeral Director he has no EMPATHY, SYMPATHY when dealing with family members my husbands cremation was messed up from the start he did not listen to what I wanted no what I said. It took 8 days before he was cremated, then from date of cremation another 16 days with a total of 24 days to get a death certificate. Excuses after excuse like, death certificate printer down, computer change, oh and a comment don't worry we do no charge extra for storage because it took 8 days before he was cremated!!! It was a nightmare if you are looking for COMPASSION, SYMPATHY DON'T USE THIS FUNERAL HOME!!!!!!!

Both of our parents and our brother were cared for by Westlawn-Hillcrest. Their integrity and professionalism prompts me to continue working with them in the future in caring for myself and members of my family. Thank you.

I grew-up in Omaha but have not lived there for most of my adult life. It will, however, always be home. I buried Mom at Westlawn this past April, preceded in death and over many years by my father, sister, and grandparents. When I think of my Westlawn experiences I offer my sincere appreciation and gratitude most recently to Robert Marshall for his capacity to build trusting, empathic relationships, and for his extraordinary compassion and customer service. He was my strength and my song during a very difficult time. Robert had my sister’s marker cleaned after years of staining and spotting and when done brought her a bouquet of spring flowers. She died in 1956. I will never forget this lovely gesture nor how beautifully Robert and Whitney Lee worked together to ensure a special and seamless graveside service for Mom. They are an amazing team. Robert sent service photos and later, when the vase and marker were set sent more. I am forever grateful to Robert for being there.

Excellent job preparing my father Leon's body. Excellent service provided from start to finish and beyond. The response time for picking up dad's body appropriate, and upon arrival advised me to continue to take as much time as I needed. Arraingments were easily made from start to finish. The only minor thing was only a couple of flowers were taken to gravesite. But that allowed my brother Lorne and I to distribute them to his care staff and hospital in memory. So all worked out. I spoke with funeral staff a month after services in August, and still empathetic and concerned.

Westlawn-Hillcrest is a high priced cemetery that doesn't provide water spigots for flowers left on graves (we have to bring water from home for the vases). The roads are also not well kept. They put a lot of effort into making the funeral nice -- but after care is greatly lacking. I don't recommend this cemetery.

I really appreciated the service, kindness and understanding all of your staff provided during this difficult and emotional time. The room where we had our visitation was very comfortable. I would like to give a special thank you to Paige, our funeral director. She was amazing! She is very good at her job and made this entire process go smoothly. She was willing to allow us to provide missing details by phone or email and very accommodating with all of our questions. Thank you so much to all of your staff. We really appreciated your assistance through this process. Family of Victor Lambrecht

Maria Knecht was our funeral director & Mike was the cemetery director. Both were incredibly nice people who were also caring & compassionate. They were willing to accommodate us in every way to make our dad’s visitation, funeral, and the lunch afterwards a true celebration of his life. We highly recommend them!

Mike Lorenz was congenial, no pressure, just provided options and pricing. Pre-arranging Mom's funeral and burial was quick and easy and I feel Mike gave good recommendations that wouldn't break the bank. I will rest a little more easily now I know that when that time comes, I simply need to say "call Westlawn-Hillcrest" and they will take it from there. Thanks Mike.

Mike Lorenz is the only honest person working there. I do not recommend them at all. They were so callous towards me and my family when my mother passed. The cemetery is beautiful, but the funeral home is awful. If I had to do it over again I would have used Heafy.

Everyone is smiling, hoping that all this is over soon. Helpful to let others know we are still lost in this big pond of flooding. Help pray for the young man whom took away. We're only a few blocks away.

Don't understand stand the reviews from these other people? ??? My mother passed away unexpectedly from a head injury this was the worst day of my families life!!! The people at westlawn took exceptional care of my mother she looked beautiful,Our requests from little details to big details were taken care of and things we couldn't afford they found alternative things that were suitable. The service was just so beautiful.THANK YOU SO VERY MUCH TO EVERYONE AT WESTLAWN THE LITTLE THINGS YOU ALL DID THAT DAY MEANT SO MUCH

Nice facility.

Went to put flowers on my mom's grave for her birthday today and was shocked at the condition of the cemetery. Grass was so tall the headstones are hidden under it. Since the grass is already seeding they haven't attempted to mow most of the summer. When I called to discuss it was the same excuse "we're short of help". Funny how they can keep funeral home area clean, but not the grave sites. This is an on going problem that management needs to fix. I went back and cleared the grass and weeds away from all the family stones.

Facility was clean and the room for planning was comfortable. The staff was a bit more knowledgeable than 20 years ago when we buried our father at this same location. The staff stated they wanted this experience to be better than our last, reminding us that they now have JDPowers surveys follow our experience which we have not seen. We are still waiting to learn of the "flower arrangement plan", since we live out of town and cannot place wreaths or flowers at our parents grave site. The answer we received when we asked if something like this was available, we were told yes but he wasn't sure of the details. Really? Are we the only family that lives out of town and would like our parents gravesite to have a Christmas wreath? Follow-through was unreliable. Watch out for "extra" little charges. For a funeral that cost well over 12K, (parents had their cemetary lot already purchased) we were left with the feeling that it was a money making deal. I know the business deals with sadness everyday, but they should never get a cold shoulder to the emotional roller coaster a family rides when experiencing the loss of a loved on. Each "client" should feel the compassion as if it were one of their own experiencing the loss.

My mom did her pre-planning with Hillcrest. She was in her 90s at the time. No high pressure sales for this or that. The information was extremely organized and they were wonderful. My sweet mom just passed away a month ago. We had to come to sign some things. The staff was extremely kind and considerate with my brother and me. They made this as easy as any death can be. They were professional and compassionate. I loved the setup for wrapping everything up. They listened to our wishes and followed thru with ALL of them. They even got after the doctor to sign the death certificate and then made calls to make sure I got them. This is a fantastic business. I cannot recommend them enough. They helped Arline Irey walk gently into the good night.

Absolutely the worst experience I have ever had with a company in my life. My mother and father decided in the 80's that they didn't want my brother and I to have to worry about details when they passed so they were talked into paying for everything ahead of time. so they paid thousands of dollars on monthly installments well into the 1990's. My Father finally passed a year ago November and when we went to arrange everything Their salesman Dan tried to charge us for alternative container for the cremation. when we produced the contract showing it was paid for he said it was for open/close and would be 600.00. we showed that the contract showed that was paid in full as well but he said it wasn't. open and close is for digging and filling a grave but all they had to do was take 4 screws out of a slab of marble and put the screws back. I was not happy and told him I felt as though my parents were being taken advantage of. Dan jumped to his feet, throwing his chair behind him into the wall and shouted "are you calling me a liar?" "I am not a crook". we never raised our voices at any point and our parents were being taken advantage of and he freaks out like we are the bad guys? we just wanted to get it done because our mother was still alive and suffering from severe Alzhiemers so we just wanted to be done with them asap. Then, finally in February of this year my mother passed so back we went to have her placed next to dad. This time we had a different sales person that told us it would be 920.00 to open/close and to please not yell at her. She probably said that because we specifically asked not to have Dan "help" us. My parents paid thousands of dollars ahead of time and had paid in full the contract and yet this low life scum sucking piece of crap company stll managed to squeeze another 1520.00 out of my parents savings to line their pockets with for supposedly removing 4 screws and putting them back in. The entire staff and ownership are simply crooks. If you have any other options you definitely should use those instead. The funny thing is, due to the treatment and greed, they have lost over 50,000.00 from our family as my wife and I and our 2 children will not be using their services or cemetary when our times come. and it could be more than that if grandchilderen and their spouses avoid them as well. So I hope they enjoy the last 1520.00 they will ever get from our family. I would have given them a minus 5 rating if the stars went into the negetive. as it is I gave thm a much too high 1 star rating.
