I apologize in advance for the long review. I wish there had been more reviews before I used Peoples for my mother's memorial in August. There were so many issues that one shouldn't have to experience with dealing with something so difficult. Do not use this company. There are several others in the area that can truly help and comfort you during difficult times. This is not that company.
1. The passing was very unexpected. I had to make a quick decision in less than one day from Texas for services in MS. I made the wrong one.
2. Initial meeting with Jimmy was "interesting" to say the least. He kept getting my mother's name wrong and writing incorrect information. He acted quite strange. The friends who were there to help me felt that he may have been under the influence (of what, we don't know). Also, when we asked to see the body, he said he didn't have the keys to the room. We were like....okay...get them. He got up and was gone for a while and said he couldn't find the key. We told him to find someone who does. Fast forward at least 30 minutes and her body was able to be viewed. I was shocked to learn he was an executive of the company.
3. Jill told me several times that there were no belongings with my mother when they picked her up from the hospital. I went back and forth trying to figure out where my mother's belongings were. I finally was able to speak with the person who was at the hospital when they picked her up and he had video footage that her belongings were with the funeral home. I called Jill and explained. Again, she said there was nothing. Transferred me back to the guy who picks up the bodies (why didn't she do that the first few times I called). He said hold on and was back in less than 30 seconds to say that they did have them (I was back in Tx by then).
4. Memorial was at the end of August. I didn't receive the death certificate until October. When I received it, it had me listed as my mother's mother. A simple review before submitting would have caught that. On October 5th, I spoke with Jill. She stated that she missed that and would send for the corrected copy. Should have taken one week. I called her back on October 27th (3 weeks later). She said "oh, I have it right here". I thought she meant the corrected copy. No, she hadn't sent it in yet for the corrections. I received the corrected copy in November.
-These are just a few of the things that made this experience even more horrible than it had to be. They didn't value me as a customer and I can partially assume that was because this wasn't a big, lavish memorial due to no insurance. My other assumption is they have gotten by so long simply based on their name. Stay away and find a better company.
