My daughter has been buried here 14 years here lately I been going and all her stuff has been gone off her grave site . Things I have put there to bring my heart peace , like I'm giving my child something .Well the people that cut the grass have no respect because they remove everything and throw it away . They shouldn't be allowed to do so ! I don't want my daughter site messed with there is no need for them to cut around her stone I keep mulch down . Im always keeping up on her site . It really upsets me when I visit and all my stuff I bought is gone and looks like a huge Strom came through , nope just the landscape people

Staff are friendly. NOTE: Loundon Park Cemetery is different from Loundon Park National Cemetery. Google Maps has things screwed up, too.

They are very uncaring when they cut the grass and trim. They bash into the stones with their mowers, shifting and even putting large chips into the stones there. Very disrespectful negligent and uncaring destroying people's grave stones. It's desecration to their graves. It makes me sick ever time I go to visit my father's grave and see something new. I've been to the management there and they don't care. Because they know most of the people dont come to visit. So sad. All they care about is selling collecting almost $2000 dollar grave opening fees thats supposed to have perpetual care. Yeah right.

My experienced at Loudon park cemetery and funeral home had been great! From start to finish. Staffs were friendly and willing to assist with all of our requests. I did not expect a lot but they were on top of things which made the experience for me and my family a great one. We recently buried my brother here and I think this is an excellent place to do that. Thank you Loudon park cemetery and funeral home staffs for everything!

This review is not about the cemetery itself, about which I know very little. It is for the Loudon Park Funeral Home, a separate entity on Loudon Park's property. The funeral home is outstanding. The staff there is highly professional and handled every single detail with ease and compassion. The services were seamless and every detail, every need, every concern was met with meticulous care. I can't say much about the cemetery -- I live out of town and was only there briefly. But the funeral home on the property is outstanding. Seriously, we could not have asked for more or better.

I am appalled at the lack of respect from your workers who are supposed to maintain the graves and grounds. Many generations and extended family of mine are buried there. Your obviously minimum wage workers, time and time and time again have broken and trashed the Flowers, American flags, and United States Army medallions placed on both my Uncles graves. They are WW2 Veterans and deserve more respect than this Louden Park! You should be ashamed of the disrespect that your workers show to the deceased!

Very helpful and friendly staff - they've often gone the extra mile to help me find my ancestors who were some of the first "residents" here in the early 1800s. This is the home of some of the most stunning monuments in the country, and is most beautiful on a sunny day in the winter when the angle of the sun is low. This creates great lighting and good shadowing for reading old worn engravings.

Thank you to Louden Park Cemetery and to all those who served and gave their lives during the American Civil War one of the bloodiest of all wars. I was able to find Confederate Pvt A.J Hatman who served in Col Coleman's MO Calvary Regiment. ~Wayman D. Hatman

FYI: This review doesn't have to do so much with the services of the company that runs the cemetery. It has to do with visiting the cemetery. I think it's pretty easy to say that most people would not think of cemeteries as a place to visit unless they are there to lay a loved one to rest or to visit the grave site of a loved one. But if you're looking to take an interesting look at history and art then a cemetery might be a place to visit. I should note i do have relatives buried here. However i am several generations removed from them. Loudon Park is the largest of the cemeteries within the city limits of Baltimore, but it's probably the third most historic, after Westminster Burial Grounds and Green Mount. But that's not to say you won't find historical figures or names from Baltimore's past or great sculpture in it. More than likely if your family has far-reaching roots in Baltimore City, you probably have an ancestor or two buried here. If you do have ancestors buried here the first place you want to start is the administration building on Wilkens Ave, where the current main entrance is (the historic main entrance is off of Frederick Rd and it's not always open). This building also serves as a funeral home as well, so you might want to keep that in mind. At the least they should be able to provide you a map of Loudon. They have in the past, i haven't asked recently, been willing to pull up records for me for small request. For larger ones i would recommend writing down what you are looking for and providing contact information so they can send it to you when they find it. The cemetery its self is separated into 3 main sections (some would say four but i'm leaving out the adjacent Loudon National Cemetery even though it's adjacent, as there is no direct connection between the two, w/o climbing over a fence, and Loudon National is managed by the Federal Government as a Veterans Cemetery). A lower, central, and upper section. In general as you travel from the Wilkens Ave side to the Frederick Ave side, the dates of the burials go further and further back. Also the ornateness and number of monuments increase, not only in number but also in size (and there are some very large ones. Also note that the terrain also changes, from a more gentle rolling one to a more hilly one. It's also a pretty good distance from the Frederick Ave entrance to the administration building, something i learned the hard way on my first visit. Among those buried at Loudon include Mary Pickersgill who was commissioned to make the Star Spangled Banner that flew over Fort McHenry in the War of 1812, Ottmar Mergenthaler the inventor of the Linotype machine which ushered in the modern age of printing, noted journalist H. L. Mencken, and Charles Joseph Bonaparte (former US Attorney General who my family has a personal connect to) and his father Jerome Bonaparte whom if you haven't figured out are related to Napoleon Bonaparte of France. There is also a family tomb (Weiskittel-Roehle Burial Vault) that is listed in the National Register of Historic Places. My recommendation, take a camera, get a map, see if you have relatives their and/or explore how we used to moralize our relatives, you might be oddly surprised hot interesting a visit it might be.
