This is less of a review and more of a thank you to the J. B. Jenkins Funeral Home, and especially Mr. Ducket, for putting together the services for my honey. He looked so good and was laid to rest with dignity. The J. B. Jenkins Funeral Home staff was informative, patient, and understanding. I appreciate everything they did for my family and my driver, Mr. Watts, who’s professionalism and compassion made the day easier. God bless you!

I will first start by stating the first encounter my sister met trying to set arrangements with JB Jenkins. She met a Breta London, this didn't go so well. We all understand that funerals are big business because we all know that we are all going to end up at a funeral home one day. And yes money is required. Ms. London clearly made my sister feel less of a mother who had lost her son the gun violence and did have a life insurance policy but because of the length she was not sure if they would pay the value. Nonetheless, Ms. London seemed very non-compassionate and this is something that I had never encountered in my pass business with Jenkin FH. I was appalled so I tried to contact them the same day to see what we could do. No one wants to hear that if you don't come up with the money in 7 days that they will charge $35 a day storage fee like his is a car. I then contacted the Kennedy St location I spoke with Belva Jenkins who reminded me that Jenkins still has a heart and what we needed to do. I felt 100% better. Went back to the Landover location the next day and met with Ms. Palmer who is hands down outstanding. She heard us, understood us, and helped. Ultimately we met with Mr. Jenkins who is absolutely the best, he helped, he gave of himself and his business something that brought tears to our eyes. As parents none of us are truly prepared for the tragic lost of a child and to be quite honest we don't have money just laying around anticipating our child my be killed. He understood. We were able to make arrangements something we could afford and be satisfied with. I cannot praise them enough, as stated before I have personally used them in the past on a couple of occasions and will forever praise them. Ms. London, however receives negative stars, she needs to learn in this business it is called compassion, you will still make your money. Without compassion you will make none!!!

THIS BUSINESS WARRANTS ZERO STARS!! If you want professional, courteous service with genuine compassion in the care of your loved one, DO NOT USE JB JENKINS FUNERAL HOME in Hyattsville, Maryland!!! JB Jenkins funeral home rendered unsatisfactory services that caused additional undue stress on my family due to their lack of organization, attention to detail, rude customer service (specifically Mrs Palmer and Mr Richardson), and lackadaisical, nonchalant behavior from the staff. Their services were disgraceful! It’s truly a shame! We try to support local black businesses but in this case my family made a horrible mistake. Lord willing this establishment will never get our business again!! We still haven't received the death certificates after they were returned for corrections almost two weeks ago or the phone call we requested from Mr Jenkins.

J B Jenkins Funeral Home was highly recommended by a close friend of mine (who worked several years, in the Washington, DC area, in the funeral industry) and they also provided the service for another friend's father who died in 2016. So, when my mother passed away, several months ago, I selected them for her funeral service. We wanted the best care entrusted for our beloved mother. The funeral staff was very supportive & compassionate. My sister and I (we are both very picky and detail-oriented) were extremely happy and grateful for everything (from beginning to end) in terms of the level of professionalism, attention to details, options offered and pricing J B Jenkins provided. They gave us all of the pertinent business documents, death certificates, etc. in a very timely manner. Our elderly mother had lost weight due to illness but the J B Jenkins staff ensured she looked so naturally beautiful (no heavy makeup was applied to her face, thank goodness, and her hair trim & style was superb). We received many complements, from funeral attendees, on how kind, professional, dignified and classy the J B Jenkins staff was and how lovely our mother was presented. In addition to this, the funeral home location is really nice, spacious and has an ample parking lot. Also, another friend recently mentioned J B Jenkins was selected for his father's funeral, twenty three years ago, and how very pleased his family was with them. I easily highly recommend J B Jenkins, too, and sent the funeral home a handwritten thank you note to express my appreciation to them.

JB Jenkins Funeral Home offered a unique experience, a wide range of services available on site to meet the wishes of the family. Unlike common reports of predatory practices, by some competitors, to coerce the grieving family into making decisions that could become yet another stressor at a most sorrowful time, no such tactics were exhibited. We were very pleased with the professionalism and care demonstrated by each member of the staff with whom we interacted. Very personable, they worked tirelessly to ensure my husband's dignity was preserved to the end. Every detail received appropriate attention and was managed in a timely manner. Most notably, on the last day and final hours that family, friends, and well-wishers would see our beloved's body, JB Jenkins staffers, Mr. Watts' and Mr. Hunter's impeccable service brought great comfort to us; every action executed with precision. We were saddened by the passing of my father on December 24, 2016. While in the midst of preparing for the celebration of his homegoing, we were faced with the loss of my wife's mother one week later. We will be forever grateful for the amazing manner in which the JB Jenkins staff took on the task of converting from a single to a joint ceremony. The funeral services, homegoing ceremony, and transportation were orchestrated flawlessly and with the upmost care and concern for our family and everyone in attendance.

I am extremely late in writing this review. I've gotta give credit where credit is due. I first learned of J.B. Jenkins Funeral Home back in 2004 when my god-sister passed away. Me being a young teen at the time, I didn't know but so much. In 2008 my mother passed away during which time I myself was only 20 years old. Not knowing how to plan a funeral, I was told to get in contact with J.B. Jenkins Home for help. I did just that and I am so happy that I did. The staff at the funeral home took really good care of my young sibling and I during the untimely passing of our mother. They were very hands on with my family and I. Answered any questions that we had asked. They are so amazing and they really make sure that the families that they serve are well taken care of. Since entrusting them with my mother remains, my family and I have used J.B. Jenkins Funeral home in 2010 for my great grandmother, in 2016 and 2017 for two of my cousins and I recently went to them to start preneeds for both my husband and I. I personally would highly recommend J.B. Jenkins and his staff if you are faced with a death of a loved one. I couldn't thank them enough for all of their hard work and for them actually caring about not just me but making sure that my mother was well taken care of while in their care. Mr. Jenkins himself is a really nice guy who goes out of his way to extend himself to the families that he and his staff serves and will offer help when and if help is needed.
