My mother passed away after a valiant battle with Lewy Body Dementia. I was her caretaker and we were best friends. My son now a high school senior lost his best confident and beloved “Grammie”. The pain was immeasurable. Andrew McCarthy made me feel relaxed, comforted and understood. His natural and approachable nature was SO comforting. Andrew helped my son see his Grammie one last time in a way that was thoughtful and not scary for a high school child. If Andrew has not been the one to meet my son at the door and shake his hand, smile and gently but diligently saw to my sons every need it would have been a horrible first experience for such a young age. My son left smiling and relieved that she was so “happy” at last. He entered our lives at a very painful and profound time and made us both feel special and comforted in such a unique way. I can not recommend ANYONE else to care so lovingly!!!!! This company is very lucky to have such high caliber employee. He made a very sad time feel manageable and that we be cared for. I have had losses before and never found anyone approachable or relaxed. Andrew you are the BEST! Thank you for helping us navigate through our loss so well and with such care.

Upon the passing of my husband, we chose Jones, Rich & Barns for the funeral arrangements. We were pleased with every thing from the planning meeting to the internment Each person we encountered were helpful and pleasant. The visiting hours, funeral service and reception following the service was excellent. The internment at a later date went smoothly. We received many nice comments from family and friends. We appreciated the service and, without question, would recommend Jones, Rich & Barnes.

When my mother-in-law died recently, Jones, Rich and Barnes handled all of the burial arrangements for us. We needed to transport her body from Portland, Maine to Long Island, New York so she could be laid to rest next to her husband. Jones, Rich and Barnes handled all of the arrangements from organizing the burial directly with the cemetery to driving her down and arranging for a graveside service including getting a local rabbi to perform a wonderful service for us. Everything was handled with dignity, sensitivity and attention to every detail and my family is grateful for their care.

My family and I began our search for a funeral home a few days before our mother's passing. The Greater Portland area offers a myriad of funeral home options for families to choose from allowing individuals the ability to select a funeral home that best fits their needs and budget. Considerations effecting my family's decision on which funeral home to select were cost, reputation, facility, services provided, proximity, and parking. Starting with the facility. The location is convenient no matter where you are coming from or going to afterwards. It is spacious and allows for a large crowd of people to move around freely without feeling cramped. People don't have to worry about on street or side street parking because the parking lot allows for more than enough cars. The facility, entry, and rooms are current and pleasing to the eye. The staff are professional and welcoming. Water and coffee is also provided offering an inviting atmosphere for those who wanted to stay and visit for awhile. We decided on a non-traditional theme for our mother's celebration of life and not only received the free-will to do what we wanted in terms of setting up the room, but we also had the assistance of our Funeral Director to help us do it. The hearse. My original thought was that a hearse is a hearse is a hearse... but in the end, having our mother take her last ride in a new, clean, and classy hearse added a touch of class that I hadn't considered before. Even the funeral procession was handled in a manner that made it feel like our mother was being honored and left no option for the interruption from outside traffic. Pricing and transparency. There are no hidden costs and we didn't feel like we were being sold something we didn't need or couldn't afford. We were provided with funeral package pricing as well as a list of all services provided and the individual costs. You can make it easy and select from several packages or go through the individual services and choose only the items you want. In the end, our mother received the dignified, honorable, and classy service she deserved. Lastly, I attribute our overall positive experience and five star rating to the Funeral Director, John Tanguay, who I felt, went above and beyond his role to provide my family and I with the empathy, respect, friendship, and top notch service we needed during this difficult time. I highly recommend Jones, Rich & Barnes.
